When the lights when out…

…chaos took over.

Was this his chance?

Nobody was sure who took down the power grid in Texas, but from the moment it happened, Alex knew it was his chance to escape. Four months into a four-year sentence for armed robbery, Alex had barely survived Huntsville Prison. Worried about Wendy and desperate to make things right with Vargas, the mobster his old partner, Trey, stole from, he needed to breakout.

During the madness that followed…

…Alex made his move.

He wasn’t prepared for the outside.

Motivated to find Trey, get Vargas his money, and protect his daughter, he set out through the new world that was like something out of an apocalyptic movie.

All that stood in his way were roving gangs, looters, angry mobsters, and about 60-miles of insanity between him and Trey.

Could he fight his way through?

You’ll love this near future post-apocalyptic thrill ride, because we are all much closer to a lawless society than we know.

Full or close combat and plot twists!

This is a great post-apocalyptic adventure. Both main characters offer a unique POV to the chaos of Texas after an EMP makes the world go dark.

This book centers on the action, not offering political or other causes for the apocalypse.

I read Grid Down in a single day because the events took a hold of me and wouldn't let go. Shupert's writing is impeccable. I loved this book.

This first book, in the 3 book saga series, is about the power grid in Texas going down. You’ll love this post-apocalyptic thrill ride, because it’s credible! - we are much closer to a lawless society than we would like. We experienced the power grid going down in Texas this last winter, in the real world, and we had aggressive people in the supermarkets plus criminals let out of prison due to Covid, re-offending. Grid Down (Age of Collapse Book 1) is free on kindle Unlimited reading, but I don’t have "unlimited", so I happily paid $3.99, since I love all Derek’s books! They're bargains. The story focuses on Alex and his daughter, a young girl with amazing courage. I enjoyed her character and the suspense of her struggle to survive. She is a resourceful teenager, (she even made a stone-age type axe, weapon, with a stone and rope.)

A 315 page brawl

I was expecting a story dealing with the challenges of living in a post emp world, not two characters in a constant fist fight. Also, I have a classic Bronco and it doesn't have a seat belt around the chest, a headrest, air conditioner or 2 radio speakers that were referred to in the book.

Well worth the wait for this first book in a new series. I love a book that holds your attention right from the start and continues to gather momentum right to the end. I found it to be very exciting with great characters and I can't wait to see what more is in store for Alex and Wendy.

Great read

Fast paced storyline. This is a very different style of post apocalyptic book than I am used to reading. The story of how the characters each make their way is fascinating and action packed. Looking forward to the next book.
