An amazing end to the Eidolon series. Having read all the others, I knew that Decker’s story would be special but Maddie knocked it out the park with this one! I am not one to cry at books usually but the prologue had me reaching for the tissues. Decker and Savannah have some serious obstacles to overcome due to their history but whilst Savannah’s remained positive despite her life experience, Decker has hidden himself behind walls to ensure he never has to face pain again. It often seems like Decker is heartless but it is because he cares so deeply that he has to try to protect himself. I did want to give him a good kick in the rear at times but everything works out in the end. A fitting end to a fabulous series, it feels like I am saying goodbye to friends. Can’t wait for the next series by Maddie Wade, definitely a one click author for me.
I put off reading this arc until the last possible second because I have been patiently waiting for Decks book and new it would destroy me and bring me to the worst ugly crying with snot running down my nose book plus it's the last book in the Eidolon series. I just wasn't ready to let these men and women go yet .Maddie did a phenomenal job writing this emotional book and connected us readers with the darkest true emotions that the characters felt and brought us back into the light. Mark "Deck" Decker lost his wife and child and unbornchild in an accident riddled with guilt he keeps feelings locked up and refuses to believe he deserves happiness and love again and scared of the what ifs ,but when he meets Dr.Savannah Sankey "Doc" can he ever get the courage to be with her and let his guard and walls down before its to late or will she end up dead ? This book was a phenomenal story as gut-wrenching as it is it is a absolutely must read book. I can't say enough about it as it's packed with action, suspense and romance and heartbreak and devastation and hot sex scenes and so much more. I'm so ugly crying again because I'm going to miss them all so damn much.
This book was a long time coming and OMG, it has everything! The very first chapter had me in tears, so much emotion in those few pages. It is literally a book that you don't want to end. Maddie I know I probably said it with your last book but this is by far my favorite. It has the suspense romance and the HEA you have come to love in her books. I can't express enough how much you need to read this book, actually all of the Eidolon books! Great job Maddie
This is the last book of the Eidolon series and I’m sad it over BUT this book was freaking H.O.T.!!! It features our hot hunky and very dominant Mark “Deck” Decker and neurosurgeon Savannah “Doc” Sankey. This is an action packed, suspenseful and emotional book and you will need tissues. Decker has a horrific past and remains stuck in it. Savannah makes him want something he won’t allow himself to have. Dive in and see how this turns out.
Oh my goodness this book was so good. I knew that as soon as I started I would end up crying and sure enough I did. Decker and Savannah make us want what they have and will try to reach it no matter what. This series is so good and I hope that we get more. Thank you Maddie for introducing us to some amazing characters and watch how they grow. I give this book 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
Maddie Wade is one of the very best authors! She absolutely knocked it out of the park with Decker. What a HOT, action packed end to the Eidolon series! The heat between Savanah and Mark made me squirm in my seat! Have Kleenex ready when you read this one! Maddie, thank you for the privilege of allowing me to be part of your ARC team. Absolutely cannot wait for more!
I borrowed Decker ~ An Eidolon Black Ops Novel ~ Book 10 from the Kindle Unlimited Program.
Mark Decker, profiler for the Eidolon Security Group has a tragic past that has kept his emotions locked tight for ten years. The Dr. Samantha Sankey and Decker make an agreement to be friends with benefits; she is witness to a murder, kidnapped and Decker and the team move to rescue her and they find happiness.
What I loved the most about the end of the last novel in the series is that the author, Maddie Wade wrote an ending showing what happen to the team twenty-five years later and all the children that they had. It was great to not be left with just an unknown happily ever after for a wonderful series,
If the prologue doesn't bring a tear to your eye or sadness to your heart, then we just can't be friends! Decker's past is finally revealed and his stoic behaviour is explained in a way that will touch your emotions. But will he realize just what his future holds if he doesn't take a chance? Will his stupidity in proposing a FWB relationship to Savannah destroy a love he may never come to know? The finale to the Eidolon series.
Last book in this series funny enough the storyline is not original I felt like I had read this book before I also felt that with a few in this series but also I have read them in different order I mean I have read shadow elite I forgot and was thinking bas don't I know him through the series (dah yeah I do in other series) that's the problem with crossover books most of this authors series link together (2 or 3 hours away plus family ties or ex brothers in military) and if you read in wrong order you meet the wife and kids (so big spoilers) it would not hurt authors to put season 1,2,3 so you know there is a history link or put link and no it will not stop readers reading if anything for me I don't always go back once I have read a future series and realise there was one before because I know who they end up with it I do the series might get less stars for it because I don't enjoy as much because it's like I read the last few pages before I start the series (yeah you get it now) there are many authors guilty of this, so please clean up your order of book reads. you know you can advertise in this book clays story runs in same timezone I think that new series runs about three books before the end of this series as a comment about clay and his wife and kids is talked about he was single in his sister book (again spoilers) and another in that team is talked about too.(I think it's some kind of fbi serial killer squad) plus shadow elite starts after the bad CIA agent gets away that was a few books back Jack puts them on the task so many cross over series with cameos of others. This series ends 25 years in future showing the guys retired and watching one of there kids wedding.so that was nice but most of these books jump back and forward at the end and start of next book. Worth the read just read in order fortis first then this series then shadow, plus a few other links also clays yet (see messy) less spoilers if you do but can be read alone.
The start of the story makes you immediately drawn into the story when you read what Decker had to go through. AIt left a lump in my throat!
So understandable that Decker is who he is and how he reacts. A professional man with his heart in the right place who does a lot for his friends at Eidolon, which has become his family. But apart from his friends, he doesn't let anyone get too close. Especially not Savannah who makes him feel again. Savannah, just divorced, doesn't need a man who doesn't appreciate her for who and what she is. Her ex already did more than enough. But the attraction she feels for Mark Decker, and he for her, means they can't stay away from each other. When Savannah witnesses her ex being murdered, Mark does everything he can to protect her. But with his sense of protection, old feelings of doubt surface. He couldn't save his wife and child before, so why should he be able to protect Savannah now? His self-loathing and insecurities could cost him his relationship with Savannah, no matter how much he's grown to care about her!
An intense story with love, loss, protecting yourself, insecurities, struggling with guilt. But also feeling emotions again, even if you don't want to (but you can't stop it either). Maddie Wade has captured the sense of loss and the fear of loving someone again with her words. But also just a well put together story with a lot of tension and realistic scenes of bad guys killing people. Eidolon's team trying to prevent more casualties. And 2 wonderful epilogues that are so full of love and expectation.
Thanks to Maddie Wade for providing an ARC. My review was given voluntarily because it's a great story. Highly recommended for a reader who wants more than just a novel
I’m not sure if I should be unhappy because the series has ended or happy because I just loved every minute of it and can now start all over again! Decker lived up to every expectation. I knew it was going to be a roller coaster and Maddie excelled again with a story line which balances seamlessly between the perfect romance and the best all action who dun-it. Slowly we have seen little bits of the elusive Decker throughout the series, but this book really did belong to him. His loyalty, guilt, sexiness, skills, humour, past, future and finally his release from his self-imposed prison. We travel the whole length of each and every emotion. That’s not taking anything away from the beautiful human that is Dr Savannah Sankey. She’s had enough troubles in her life with an ex that won’t go away and the trouble he brings her when all she wants to do is be the best Dr she can. She also does not need the likes of one stubborn Alpha male who can’t get his messages straight. I love her strength through out this story. I’m not going to tell you what happens as that would ruin the book because this is one that needs to read. It also needs to be read with the rest of the series as it concludes them so well and, well, leaves you ready for the next series. Thank you Maddie for allowing to be privileged enough to get a sneak peak into this world before everyone else and I can’t wait for the next book to arrive on my kindle.
Talk about a fantastic ending to a series! Mark lost the most important people to himself, and now has to learn to live the guilt he feels. First way is to take a job with Eidolon and move to another country. He needs the space and time to deal with his feelings. But he never really does. In walks Savannah. A doctor, she witnesses a murder and now needs the Eidolon protection. With Mark shadowing her, she feels safe, and a whole lot more. But as Mark explains to her, they can never be more than casual. Until it no longer is. Now having to face his demons, keep Savannah safe and let himself feel again, he has his work cut out for him. Wade's family of Eidolon Black Ops is fantastic. Always there to help each other, the men and women are straight shooters, and there to give each other whatever they need. This story is real, holds so much emotion, has so much suspense and surprises that I was not able to stop listening. It's my favorite of the series and a great way to finish.
Conan Kennedy has a way with these characters that makes them seem so real. He falls into Mark's character, giving us his guilt and shame, and the feelings of fear and love. He easily transitions to the English Savannah, let's us hear her frustration and growing feelings. He made the book like a movie in our minds.
Grab yourself a handful of tissues before you even start reading Decker because, trust me, you're going to need them before the end of the prologue. Decker is a fitting finale for the extraordinary Eidolon series. It's full of action. It's deeply emotional. There's white hot passion and a glimpse into the futures of the Eidolon team and the women they love.
When it comes to wanting Savannah, Decker fights himself harder than any foe he's ever faced. Unwilling to let go of what was and instead embracing what could be has him tied up in knots and sending so many mixed signals that it's like going too fast on a merry-go-round. He just wants a friends with benefits relationship yet is jealous of any man who looks at Savannah. She's brilliant, beautiful, focused and talented. She abides by his rules; no involvement, no relationship, no emotions. She's in danger and needs protection on several fronts. Decker will not entrust her safety to anyone other than himself and reluctantly, his Eidolon team. Yet she unwittingly destroys the fortress high walls he's erected around himself as he wallows in misplaced guilt and grief. It takes almost losing her for the man to own up to his feelings and make her his permanently...no strings attached.
Devoted to his pregnant wife and toddler, team profiler Mark Decker has grieved and felt guilty almost every second of the decade since they died until…. Neurosurgeon Dr. Savannah Sankey’s finally gotten a divorce from her philandering hubby and was content to live the rest of her life alone until… they actually met. After fighting their feelings much too long, they agree to a friends with benefits arrangement. Though neither is sure they can protect their own hearts.
Fate and opportunity are more stubborn than anyone born, that becomes evident when the pair is tested within an hour of making the agreement when her drunken ex accosts her and Decker gives in to protecting and comforting her. Days later when Savannah’s in trouble, he’s her first thought and line of protection. Luckily because that puts Savannah in the crosshairs of a notoriously slick crime family.
Meanwhile, Deck hasn’t mentioned his tragic past and Savannah doesn’t want anyone else to tell her except Deck so he continues to be obnoxious and she accepts it while they both keep falling and reminded themselves, their relationship is temporary. Rating: 4stars
Decker is the final chapter of Maddie Wade’s Eidolon Black Ops series and what an ending it is! Every single book in the series has been amazing but this one, it really takes the cake AND it starts with the prologue! Be prepared and have a box of tissues at hand. Obviously this book is about Decker and the second chances at life and love that he gets when he meets and tries to resist Dr Savannah Sankey we met already earlier. It is a story of finding courage to love again and take chances after having experienced such devastating blow and being terrified of loving again. The way how Maddie writes the emotions and takes us deep down to how one feels and acts … there is something magical about and it pulls you in and does not let you go … it is a hallmark of all of her writing and even though I am sad to say farewell to Eidolon Black Ops, I know that we will meet up with the guys from Eidolon AND Fortis (another amazing series) when Maddie takes us to the world of shadows with her new series!
I listened to the audiobook and did enjoy the narration of the last book in the series.
I understood that Decker went through a traumatic experience. Savannah had a much more forgiving heart than me. Decker was BRUTAL with his words. Not once, not twice. But more times than I cared to count. That last go round with Savannah hurt my soul and he wasn't talking to me.
I felt like with Decker hanging on so tightly to something for TEN years, why didn't any of his team or their SO's suggest he seek some counseling?
I really didn't get much of a sense of Decker and Savannah together as a couple, because he blew hot and cold so much. He was often mean to her with his words being cutting and cruel, or they had this contentious back and forth going on. His positive feelings were internalized. His positive actions were external. It's a wonder Savannah could keep track of whether she was coming or going.
It was a good read. I did love the two epilogues. I am a sucker for a good epilogue. A nice ending to the series, even if it did make me feel a bit melancholy to know it was over.
Omg, such an excellent book and tie up to the series. Decker, after a tragic past, finds it difficult to move on, but has feelings for Savannah. This chemistry between Decker and Savannah just took my breath away. The steam and connection just was surpassed, although his attitude to what had happened really put a dampener on the relationship. As a reader, I really felt for him. But I also felt for Savannah. She was fighting her own battles, and his as well. So well written, with very true real life situations that amazed me. The way the guys dealt with procedures and approached the situations was the way in sure real life SWAT would go so cudos to Maddie Wade on that. I was highly impressed with this book and everything about it. I've loved this series and I'm hoping there are more similar to come. Fantastic book absolutely!!!! This was an ARC and this is my honest review.
Decker is an amazing book, and I couldn’t put it down. I was captivated by the story. Decker had a lot of heartache to overcome in his life, and Savannah is the right woman to help him do it. They are both strong, smart people, and their love story was sweet and sexy. Savannah and Decker’s chemistry was explosive. There also was a lot a of suspense and excitement in their book too. Savannah’s ex-husband is a problem. When Savannah sees something that she shouldn’t, Eidolon helps protect her when she is in danger. It was a beautiful thing to watch Savannah melt away Decker’s protective shields, and they with their way into each other’s souls. Maddie Wade gave us a view of their life together, and you get to see the future of Eidolon and their families. I am sad that this is the last book in this series, but it was a lovely ending. I can’t wait to see what Maddie Wade has planned next. You can always count in her for a great book.
From tears to fear to smiles, this took me on a journey of emotions from the first to last page. I knew this would be sad at times, just as I knew Decker would struggle against any attraction let alone actual feelings for Savannah. He has blamed himself and felt guilty for 10 years, no way was a second chance going to be easy. Despite that he stepped up and in whenever she needed help and boy at times she did. I felt for her, but I'm so glad she is the character she is. Maddie you more than did justice for Decker and his family, they needed this story and he needed redemption for something that really wasn't ever his fault. I'm choked up writing this just as I was reading the end of the book even while smiling at the same time. There are twists and turns, action and excitement in a gripping fast paced read. This is a story of second chances and a HEA. Brilliant read 📚📚📚❤started 26/9/21 Finished 27/9/21
Well readers we have made it to the last alpha badass to fall. Damn that went quick. So its our broody, suit wearing profilers turn for a second chance at love. Sigh. He fight it every step of the way believe me. He feels guilty over a tragedy years ago that was an accident and thinks he doesn't deserve love. We all that is bullshit. Well when "Doc" Savannah comes into his life will he finally given in or will he he let the best thing in his life go? Readers get ready you will laugh , cry and probably throw her book/ kindle at the wall. Make sure you have the protector on your device. You will throw your device. Anyway get ready for the roller coaster that is Decker and Doc's love story. Also don't forget the epilogue where we get a glimpse into the second generation. So grab your tissues, favorite beverage and make sure you have the protective cover on your kindle. Get ready to get to be sucked into the fabulous world of Eildon.
This book was a long time coming but, I promise you it was worth the wait! I have read every book of the Eidolon Security series and each book just gets better and better. This was a beautiful end to the series. Maddie Wade really hit it out of the park. The prologue alone had me in tears. Mark Decker and Savannah Sankey each have a painful past. Mark felt the only way to get through the pain of the past was to close off his emotions and guard his heart from any more pain. Savannah has had pain and loss in her life too. However, she chooses to look at the bright side of things and not let it get her down. They are both attracted to each other but Mark fights it until he can't anymore. This book has everything you could want in a book. Danger, romance, suspense, drama and action. Get this book ASAP. I promise you won't regret it. Sorry, no spoilers. I received this ARC and here is my honest review.
Holy Moly. What a fantastic rollercoaster ride for Decker and a beautifully fitting ending for Eidolon. The depth of grief, fear and guilt reaches out from the pages. Maddie Wade showed how grief shaped Decker with meaning and respect. Mark Decker is a man living with pain and guilt every second of his life. To watch him helpless and unable to not fall in love with the beautiful, strong and independent Savannah was heart wrenching and an honour. The glimpses you get of Decker throughout the Eidolon series is of a strong, alpha male who does everything in his power to support and protect his brothers and the people he loves, so to read his own story opened the door to truly understanding his complex tower of strength that Decker is. I loved every single word of being back in the world of Eidolon again. A fantastically written story by an exceptional author who writes straight from the heart. Thankyou Maddie Wade. 50 millions star review
I received this book as an ARC and this is my opinion. What an amazing book. You can feel the pain that Decker is going through. As well as the love that Savannah gives. We've been left wondering for so long about Decker's past and are finally shown the grief he carries with him. After making a pleasurable agreement with Savannah she the only witness to a violent crime and the criminals will stop at nothing to silence her. Decker always protects friends, and since Savannah is a friend he'll won't stop until the threat against her is gone. Now he just needs to keep the wall he's built to protect himself firmly in place, and patch any cracks it might get. Savannah knows feelings aren't a part of the agreement. Decker has made that clear. So how does she convince her heart of that? Be prepared for pain and tears, love and laughter, shock and horror, action and surprises. This book has it all.
This is the final book in the fantastic Eidolon series, and what a great book it is. From the prologue to the final word in the second epilogue it doesn’t disappoint, the author has continued to ensure the work ethic and close friendship of the Eidolon team are maintained well into the future. This is Mark Decker’s story, he has never come to terms with the loss he suffered ten years ago and keeps his emotions under tight control - until he meets Savannah Sankey, who has also lived through a difficult time, but is more open and positive with her emotions. The attraction between them is off the charts but Mark fights it for as long as he can, even then setting boundaries. A threat to Savannah ensures Mark and the Eidolon team work to protect her, but will their relationship survive? I really enjoyed the book, but am sorry to see the series come to an end - maybe the team will show up now and again in future books?
I say it all the time but I just can't get enough of Maddie's books.
Each of her characters has so much depth and with Decker it shows us how grief and pain after losing someone changes us and for some people closes us off.
Decker is the perfect example of someone who has closed himself off to love or relationships as he just can't imagine going through the grief of losing another person. That's until Savannah walks into his life. He tries so hard not to like her and tries keeping his distance but after Savannah offers him a no strings attached relationship he jumps at the chance all the while saying to himself that it will never be more than sex.
Then Savannah sees something that she shouldn’t and Decker and Eidolon steps in to protect her from the danger and find out who is after her.
Be prepared for pain associated with grief, tears, love and laughter, and lots of action and surprises.
I can’t wait to see what Maddie Wade has planned next. You can always count in her for a great book.
I received this book as part of the Arc team and thoroughly enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this book.
Dr Savannah Sankey's ex-husband is involved with some scaly people and when Savannah witnesses a murder, her life is in danger. Being a Neurosurgeon, Savannah is independent, that being said not many men want to be with a woman who is such an expert in her field.
Taking the position as profiler with Eidolon after loosing his family to a tragic accident, Mark Decker stays away from any kind of personal connection. Dr Savannah Sankey brings out the worst in him or is it. Being protective of her takes him by surprise and he fights the attraction. He does not want to risk getting hurt again and he believes that after what happened to his family he does not deserve to be happy again.
Mark vows to keep Savannah safe, but somewhere along the lines everything gets blurred, and if Mark cannot make peace with his past he will risk loosing his future.
An absolutely Sensational Suspense Romance . I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Decker . This story is such an emotional and heartbreaking. It's also a healing story . Mark Decker lost his wife and children to an awful accident . He was left total devastated and lost . He finds family in the Eidolon group . He meets Dr. Savannah Sankey a brilliant and beautiful neurosurgeon . When Savannah finds herself in danger . Mark steps up to keep her safe but he fights his growing feelings for her . Decker may lose his second chance at love . This story is a beautiful ending to the Eidolon series . I highly recommend taking the time to read . With tears in my eyes I say goodbye to a amazing series .
Decker's story was heartbreaking, tragic, and more than anyone should ever have to bear. Savanah has been through what millions of others have, but it's no less heartbreaking. They're both in a fragile place in their lives, and the consuming connection between them is completely unexpected. He tries to fight it, but fate has other plans in store for this couple. It's certainly not a story that you'll want to miss. I have loved this series, and I'm sad to see it end. I would love to see how the next generation of Eidolon thrives! Hopefully it will be available in the near future. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
What a fantastic story! I have been waiting for this book for a while and it certainly did not disappoint. This book took you through the whole range of emotions. I have had a soft spot for Decker as he has been introduced throughout the series and have been waiting for him to find his happily ever after. Each time I read one of Maddies books I think I have found my favourite then the next time she just blows it out of the water again. Brilliant chemistry between the characters and an exciting story line. The only complaint I have is that this is the last in the wonderful Eidolon series, however I eagerly await the next series. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
Savannah, a neurosurgeon, wonders why Decker, Eidolon’s profiler, seems to dislike her so much when they hardly interact with each other and she has done nothing to deserve it. As the story progresses a deal is made, walls start to crumble, and the danger coming at them causes him to keep pushing her away. Maddie Wade brings the tears in Decker as we travel along in his journey of love and redemption. I have to wonder if Ms. Wade plans on bringing the Shadow team into rotation next or if she will continue with the next generation of Eidolon.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
