Jane Shand has always been an avid reader of fantasy and mystery and is an author of YA and Cosy Fantasy.

She got hooked on fantasy after reading ‘Lord of the Rings’ at a young age and was determined to write books full of magic and adventure.

Her books always have magic, adventure, and some mystery. They are full of friendship and co-operation as well as danger and enemies. There will be a happy/satisfactory ending and some clean romance. Her books are all set in the same ‘world’ though on different continents and there is a thread/item that ties all the books together.

She lives in Hampshire, England with her family and two cheeky cats who would love to help her write.

This book had a different take on magic that was refreshing. When I first saw it was told from four young character’s perspectives, I was wondering if I’d get lost with who was telling the story. Turns out, each character had their own voice and thoughts, and it wasn’t an issue at all.

I did connect with one character quickly and easily, the girl who could be considered the “main” character, and I was always curious to see how she’d deal with their problem.

Ok , I totally enjoyed this book , to a point where I never wanted it to end or put it down in fact , the characters were so well thought out and the world and story line and was just full of excitement and it was very fast paced and interesting indeed .
The adventure they were on , and magic they could do , and the friends they found and helped all in one place , the tense and gripping creature that stole the magic from wielders that it had killed ,after entering our world , the characters I enjoyed and really felt connected to all of them on this journey , I loved the whole book , and would love if the author maybe could write another on more adventures with these characters and in this world or at the temple training somehow ., a great all round story thrilling and exciting . definitely would recommend this to anyone , that love a good adventure with magic and trouble and characters really connecting with each other through good and bad times ..
The weilders all coming together to help when needed , made me feel excited and happy . , just a great read , and will probaby re read again in the future .

This is the story of a young girl who hides in her village, afraid to leave for fear of the pity and repulsion she thinks she will face due to the deformity of her arm. She has a strong magic but sees no use for it. Then she must leave or face kidnap by mercenaries working for some mysterious person from the far north, or even worse, face death at the hands of a creature from another realm. On her journey she will discover friendship, an inner strength she didn't realise she had and learn that she doesn't need to define herself by what others think. Her magic and friendships may yet safe everyone...

The Light Wielders is another well-written YA fantasy from Jane Shand.

This book was a really engaging read with nicely built characters, some adventures and magic. Everything was well put together, that makes the reader be hooked to the whole story.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
