Wtf did I just read?!?! Young sheltered teenage girl, who’s momma hasn’t even told her what a period is… walks in on a teacher jerking off in a classroom and he forces her to watch him… then he gets fired and everyone blames the girl… new teacher arrives the next school year and he walks in on her in the locker room showers and they proceed to have a relationship?!??
Hard pass on pedophilia! We are talking 15/16 and at least 35… I have no problems with age gap books, but with consenting adults - not sheltered children!!! And this was the prequel to a series?! I will not be reading that series…

i'm rating it two stars cause i have SO many unanswered questions that make no sense.
why was Jayden the weird girl? why was she scare of her momma? how come she was a junior in high school and had NO idea what a period was?? who was Mr Ridley and what did he do?! who is Miles? what did he do?? why do teachers rate kids whether they think they can help them or not? like.... wtf???
but i will admit it would be a great start an actual series since you're on the edge and you NEED these questions answered. i'm just sad to see i don't see another book in progress so, yeah, it gets a low rating.
I'm sorry to say this novella gave me the ick big time, an extremely sheltered15 year old girl and her predatory, at least 30+ year old teacher?! That's just too wrong in my eyes, I wish I could rate it zero stars.
This book made zero sense. What was the point of this book? Why was she considered the “weird girl” ? Why did her mom treat her the way she did? Why….why…..why…. So many questions and no answers. It’s as if the book just STOPS. SO CONFUSED 🫤
This was a fantastic start to the series and one heck of a way to keep us on the edge of our seats. But those last few sentences were what really set the corruption in motion 🔥🥵🔥
Jayden Bond is a 16yo high school Junior. We vaguely hear about a past incident with a teacher and learn how her home life is anything but perfect. Her classmates are miserable wastes of space that make her life unbearable on a daily basis and the first day of school is no different.
Mr. Miles Hunter is new to town and hiding something nefarious. He's a mystery I can't wait to solve and a new addiction I can't wait to devour. Ex-high school football player, new PE teacher, 15+ years past graduation, and uncontrollably attracted to the forbidden.
The book was all over the place and didn’t make much sense. Felt like a bunch of scenes were started with no real explanation. Would have liked a little more of setting the stage with why her mom is like that. Or knowing who the chapters were talking about in the beginning of the chapter vs the middle to end. Also the mirrors don’t make much sense since there isn’t any explanation. I would have DNF’d but it was short so I pushed through.
This gets two stars because I didn't hate it but it definitely didn't even have enough of a story line or even make much sense for me to be intrigued to continue on with the series (if there even is one at this point).
This was absolutely disgusting. This is not a dark romance or taboo romance. This is a short story about a teacher that grooms his thirteen year old student. This shit should literally not exist. I feel disgusting after only reading half of it. Don't mind me right now. I'm just gonna cut my brain out of my head and bleach it. Stuff like this should not be listed as romance. This is a great example of what a pedophile looks like 🤮🤮🤮.
When does the next book come out? This was a quick glance into two very different souls and their lives before they meet. This is taboo and I simply can’t wait to read the next book. Amazing job ladies!
No recomiendo este libro para los sensibles o con moral. Es muy extraño, no me logro centrar en la historia, y definitivamente es un tema Taboo, trigger warnings (maestro-estudiante, menor de edad)
This little prequel was something I got on a stuff your Kindle day because the cover was pretty. It definitely made me want more. I need to know what is going in here.
This book was odd. I felt like the novella needed a lot more information. Such as, the AGE of the FMC! The way she was written made me feel like she was 12 and considering at the end of the book, her and the teacher are hooking up, it really needs more detail 🫥
It's really short and a bit confusing. I'm not sure if it's meant to be a teaser or what but although the wanting is all thumbs up, the teacher to high school student isn't.
"Corrupt" by Yolanda Olson and Abigail Davies, independently published on August 24th, 2021, offers readers a tantalizing introduction to a series that promises to be filled with suspense, desire, and a touch of the forbidden. The narrative centers around a protagonist seeking a fresh start, only to find that the past is an insistent companion.
The plot unfolds with the main character's struggle against haunting memories, and the story takes an intriguing turn when the enigmatic "her" is introduced. The allure of "delicious curves and pouty lips" sets the stage for a tale of desire, one that is further complicated by a haunted look in her eyes. The conflict between wanting what one can't have and a rebellious spirit ready to defy rules adds an enticing layer to the narrative.
The reader is drawn into a world where the past refuses to be forgotten, and the introduction of characters with complex emotions sets the stage for the series to unfold. The authors skillfully weave a web of intrigue, leaving the reader eager to explore the subsequent books in the series to unravel the mysteries that have only just begun to surface.
While the book is praised for being a great introduction to the series, the reviewer notes a sense of rush in the presentation of both points of view. Despite this, they acknowledge the overall quality of the writing. It's suggested that the pacing may make more sense when read in the context of the complete series. This observation adds an element of curiosity, encouraging readers to delve into the subsequent books to gain a deeper understanding of the narrative choices made in this introductory installment.
In conclusion, "Corrupt" offers a promising start to a series filled with passion and suspense. The authors have crafted a narrative that intrigues readers and leaves them eager to explore the layers of complexity that undoubtedly await in the subsequent books of the series.
I originally got this book because the book cover intrigued me. I didn't read the synopsis for it and since it was free I snagged it. I honestly have no idea what I just read. It was on the shorter side with 45 pages and I went in blind. The whole first part of the book is about a girl getting her period but having no idea about it even though she is a junior in high school. There is a bit of mystery with an incident with an old teacher the intrigued me, but they never explored it more. I found the writing very repetitive and it took away from the story. They kept mentioning that Jayden was sick…sick how? Because she had a thing for her teacher 🤔🤷♀️ After reading the second part which was the new teachers pov, I deemed this a teacher student taboo romance story. I was more interested in the story in the later half. I wanted to know what Mr.Hunter had done in his past to have to move. Then his first day working as a teacher he walks into the locker room where Jayden is taking a shower 🫣 I get this is a short story, but it was very rushed afterward. I feel like they wanted to make him obsessed with her but it seemed so forced. I clicked on the link for the next book in the series and it says it doesn't exist. I was curious to see if the story continues, but I don't know if I would need anymore from this couple.
It’s the morning of the first day of the school year. Jayden Bond, a junior, gets her period.
Jayden is terrified of Momma, so she figures burning her bloody bedsheets is the best way forward.
Jayden is clearly quite sheltered. But how likely is it that she doesn’t understand the fundamentals of menstruation?
And what is her deal with mirrors? Why does she hate them?
Everyone dislikes Jayden. They blame her for the firing of popular teacher Mr. Ridley. (Even though he was fondling himself in front of her…)
She refers to herself as “sick” frequently, yet this is not illuminated.
Miles seems to think he is crazy.
The graphic, albeit consensual (but can it be consensual? If it’s a minor???), statutory rape is something. This is a girl who didn’t know what was happening to her. I’m no stranger to taboo reads—but the ick factor in this book is a 12.
Given the censorship of so many gay books—where the actions are both legal and consensual—it’s fairly shocking that this is being peddled by Amazon. And I am not suggesting it be banned. I’m just puzzled as to why it isn’t banned, but so many other, less cut-and-dry works are removed or straight-up not allowed.
This isn’t Beautiful Ugly Things awkward. This is poorly-written and unexplained awkward.
In my opinion a prequal should give enough information to get you interested in the full length books that are to follow. This book didn't do that.
We get the POV of a teenager that seems extremely young but it isn't stated what her age is. She's scared of her mother that whips her when she does something wrong and she gets her period, knows nothing about it but is scared her mother finds out. Her talking about mommy make it seem she's 12-ish.
The second POV is from a teacher that left a school to start as a PE teacher. He sees a girl in the showers, watches her and we flash forward a couple of weeks where this girl is in his bed doing some adult activities. This girl is the first pov one, but it isn't mentioned how old that teacher is.
This has some interesting taboo dark romance ideas but didn't give enough background to the characters to get exited to read the full books. Only knowing it's about a teenager scared of her mom and a teacher sleeping with said teenager isn't enough.

I can't believe I'm saying this but as taboo as it is (age gap romances are not my cup of tea most of the time) I actually enjoyed reading this. Probably because my brain is in I'm-in-the-mood-for-something-uncomfortable mode? Not quite sure.
This is supposedly a sneak peak of a student-teacher romance between two damaged souls. In my opinion, this prequel did a great job in planting intrigue inside readers' heads - at least it intrigued mine. It held my ever wavering attention from the very first chapter even though I read this one in a not so quiet office setting. And in my book, that's a win.
I docked off a star because after much needed thought, I realized the heroine is a junior in high school and that puts her age between 15-17 (?) Personally I find that too young for a perfect 5 stars.
Overall, I'm glad I picked this one up (for free!) and I'm curious what the authors plan for Jayden and Miles as their story progresses.
I know it’s just a sequel but it has a lot of Things I liked and a lot I didn’t.
First of all I liked the plot, the story line and it was very interesting it kept me very intrigued and I didn’t want to stop reading
But I have to say that the writing was definitely very mediocre, we never got descriptions of any place that was mentioned (only like one or two), also we never got to true learn the character or know how the author imagined them truly looking like. Like if you ask me idk what ColorJayden’s hair is, and that truly kinda dissapointed me. Also like the huge fast forward I thought it was super sudden to the point that I was confused, I thought it shouldn’t have been added to the sequel. And in general many small details that were truly not the best.
But needless to say it was a fast and very interesting plot wise sequel and I am definitely going to try the first book in the series
I didn't read the blub. I should have read the blurb.
This is a prequel to a taboo series involving a student and teacher. The student is a junior in high school. I'm the mom of a junior in high school so right from the jump I was not feeling this.
Our girl Jayden seems to live in a Carrie type household. Naive to the world with an abusive mother. Mr. Hunter is the new PE teacher who has a lot of ominous secrets. He finds her taking a shower and we get a time jump and it ends with them in bed. Like WTF. I like taboo and I've read high school romance and age gap but this one just doesn't seem like it's up my ally. NO hate, I plan on reading Dark Vanessa this year and I read Tampa a few years ago. But I'm finna pass on the full length of this one.
I have so many unanswered questions. When I started this book I was getting “Carrie” vibes. Why was Jayden scared of her mother? How did she not know what a period was as a junior in high school? Who was Mr.Ridley and what did he do, where did he go? Why do teachers have a list of kids that are “lost causes”. Who is miles, what’s his story / what is he running from, and how did they get between him seeing her in a locker room to where they were at in the end?
Book has a ton of potential. i feel like those are some of the questions that need to be answer. I think it needs to be broken up into a series for the progression because there is no backstory behind any of the characters or their development.
Super quick read. There’s just a lot of missing important details imo.
So the first part I can tell was inspired by the story Carrie by Stephen King. That is literally all I can say that I gathered for this story.... there were more questions than answers, and the whole story just felt like words written down just to be there with no rhyme or reason. I have no clue what the point of this story was and there is suppose to be a series started from the prequel but I can't find it anywhere and have heard no news from either author on if it's in the process or not. I can handle dark topics and things of that nature, but this had zero purpose as to WHY! That's what irritates me the most; there was no story, just random things happening and put together with a pretty cover. If you could tell, I wasn't impressed at all with this story.
I wasn’t gonna write a review cause I basically DNF’d it pretty early on once I felt like I knew the vibe and where it was going… And then checked the reviews and yep I was right but I need to let the people know and WARN THEM.
Someone check this woman’s or women’s hard drive cause what possessed ya’ll to write about a man jerking off in front of a teenager (14) and then also having same teenager be in a sexually relationship with a different (35) older male teacher? And go into EXPLICIT DETAIL of such acts.
I’m even disgusted that this was in my kindle for so long cause I got it on one of those Stuff Your Kindle Days and just now got around to reading it and immediately deleting it.
Seek God and please go to therapy and then straight to jail for even putting this on paper about a fully grown man sleeping with a CHILD.
