The editor of Chic magazine, JoJo Morales, was a fashion icon. Too bad she was murdered at the meeting of the world’s leading fashionistas on Jupiter Island, Florida.
She had a lot of enemies, and they were all at the dinner Chef Dani catered at JoJo’s partner’s spectacular waterfront home. And how fitting she was poisoned using her grandmother’s antique atomizer, the very grandmother who had groomed her to rise to the top of the fashion industry.
The local police detective assigned to the case has to suddenly leave to handle another case. He asks Arthur, Dani’s catering sous-chef, to take over the case, since Arthur is the owner of a private investigation company. Cooking is his avocation, but finding murderers is his vocation.
It seems like everyone had a motive to murder JoJo, from her philandering husband, to the top fashion editors in the world. But when all of them have airtight alibis for where they were when the murder occurred, now what?
This is the 5th book in the Chef Dani Rosetti Cozy Mystery Series by a USA Today Bestselling Author.
I enjoyed this book. This is book five in the series but what I like about this author is each book makes for a great standalone and can be read or listened to in any order. So even if you pick it up in the middle of the series you know the relationships have already been established, you know all the characters and the story is going to focus mainly on the mystery, oh and food. The story starts with the murder and then goes back in time introducing you to all the people with motives. This case is mostly worked and solved by Arthur instead of Dani, which is unusual but a nice change. The mystery was interesting with a variety of motives and I was pleased with the out come. It's a good series with great characters. Dani has been asked to cater for a meeting of the top fashion magazine owners at a private waterfront home on an island. The meeting was to try and broker a truce between the four companies but it turns out they all become the prime suspects when JoJo the instigated of all the trouble is found dead in her room. The police are quickly on the scene but when another murder takes place, Arthur as a private investigator is asked to step in and investigate. With all the suspects in one place including her husband can Arthur find the motive behind the death and then join Dani and her niece on vacation? Or will the killer get away? I liked the narrator. She is always a pleasure to listen to and makes the story an enjoyable listen.listen I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Somehow or another every job Dani takes ends in either a murder or something else horrendous! Anna, Dani's 10 year old niece remarks on this--but then goes on to ask for a pair of those really expensive shoes--you know--the ones with the red soles--a 10 year old fashionista! It seems she has been reading her Nanny's fashion magazines. To top it off the place where they will be there will be the editors of 4 of the biggest fashion magazines.
It seems that Anna has a premonition--one of those editors was found dead in her room. Nobody liked her--including her husband--but all had alibis. Arthur, who besides being Dani's Sou Chef also has his own PI business. He was asked by the owner of the house to please look into it--then the police also asked him as other high profile cases were also popping up.
Arthur was about to give up when he had a thought--will they figure out who done it and how--will they be able to get the person? You will have to read this to find out!
This is book #5 in the series. This time Dani and Arthur were hired to prepare a meal for a major fashion magazine owner and other magazine owners at his Jupiter Island home. Arthur flew Dani, Anna, Brianna and Arthur’s business partner to Jupiter Island. They stayed in the home of the magazine owner. Yes, there was a murder and the magazine owner not only had help from the local police, but he also hired Arthur and his partner. In this book, Anna and Brianna spend most of the days sightseeing and shopping. Dani didn’t spend much time on the murder investigation; it was mostly Arthur. Unlike past books, Arthur figures out who was the murderer but there is no arrest made because the culprit flew the coop to Italy with the help of the Italian mafia. This book was entertaining. There wasn’t much drama and espionage yet very entertaining as most is the case in cozy mysteries. I wonder where book #6 will take us next?
5th in the Chef Dani Rosetti series, this one finds Dani and her entourage at the exclusive Jupiter Island off the eastern coast of Florida. There to cater an event for 4 women who Own fashion magazines, they are soon embroiled in helping determine why one of these women was murdered. Several Candidates emerge before they solve the mystery
Intriguing investigation into the murdered fashion director. I really enjoyed the story, apart from a couple of typo errors, and the investigation flowed well. I really enjoy the Chef Dani series and all of the main characters.
Another great read by author Dianne Harman. There were a few people with motive, so the plot kept me guessing. Harman is a great story teller and this book does not disappoint. I highly recommend this book.
Love to read Dianne Harman books and as always this one was a fantastic read. Chef Dani is hired to prepared a wonderful meal for some fashion magazine people and yep, someone is murdered! Awesome 😎
These cozy mysteries are always easy to read and to follow along. I listened to the audio version and was able to keep up with everything at 2x the speed. Her books include recipes at the end too, I need to try one or two of them. Narrator did a good job.
Interesting plot revolving around the fashion magazine industry. Great Florida setting. Wonderful descriptive characters. Many suspects and twists and turns. What more could you ask for.
Another intriguing mystery, but it seemed to wrap too easily and too quickly. Love that these books contain recipes, but would love a cookbook! Perhaps the author will acquiesce.
Loved the book. The storyline was great. Loved the dishes that Dani & Arthur prepared. And Anna is a hoot with some of the things that comes out of her mouth.
Who killed JoJo Morales and why??? She certainly wasn’t the nicest of people!!! But she had a lot of people who didn’t wish her well!!! I enjoyed the story and recommend the book.
A meeting of major fashion magazine owners to work out their differences turns deadly, particularly when one of them is suspected of major sabotage against the other 3 owners. Tons of suspects, lots of alibis and too many plot twists and turns to know who the murderer really is, many unexpected surprises later and a strong suspicion who the murderer really is but with no way to prove it, well what's an investigator to do? Great read.
Yet another interesting book in this series. It’s interesting to follow Dani, her niece Anna, her sous-chef Arthur and everyone else in the list of characters.
