Our love was written in blood, but our dream was born from death.
Once upon a time, I had it all.
Born heir apparent to one of the Six Families, I was destined for greatness. Wealth and power were in my blood, and sweet Thalia was one more means to an end.
Until they banished me from the watchful city, stripping me of everything I possessed, my name, my home, all I’d come to hold dear, including the girl who was to be my wife.
Now the day has come to take back what’s mine.
The girl is no longer a promise I need to protect, but a woman who I plan to devour. Wealth and power are in my blood, and sweet Thalia may very well be my end.
Dreams of the Vengeful is the prologue to the Massacred Dreams series, ends in a cliffhanger, and is a dark mafia romance. It contains elements that may be triggering to some readers.
Adelaide fell in love with books at a young age and quickly discovered her love for writing soon after. Since then, she’s become a self-professed plot hoarder of over 300 book concepts. After receiving her degree in Psychology, Adelaide went on to work in a therapeutic riding facility. When her daughter was born, Adelaide traded out her boots to be a stay-at-home mom. In 2019, she added author to those job duties after a lifetime of dreaming about it.
Thank lord for Kindle Unlimited because the amount of books that come across my TikTok feed that intrigue me- I would be broke to say the least. And that was the case with this one! I saw a TikTok from the author about some tropes of this book and I was SOLD. Sucker for mafia romance AND the petname Little One!? Please take my money.
Anyways this was so good! I was hooked from the first chapter and I finished this in one sitting. I usually don't enjoy prologues because I just want a full length novel for me to binge on but this was an exception. I loved Adelaide's writing and it was super easy to read and compelling to keep going (as to how I spent my entire night reading). I will definitely be reading from this author again!
This does end in a cliffhanger and the 1st book in the series won't be released until next year sadly. But if you were to just want a quick read to help you reach your goodreads goal you don't have to read the epilogue! It doesn't wrap up as nicely if you don't but you can technically read it as a standalone. A bit confusing I know. I totally recommend reading the epilogue though! It was so satisfying to see everything go down the way it did, you can't help but root for the MC's.
Totally recommend!
☆☆☆☆.5/5 stars 🌶️🌶️.5/5 spice Series: yes Cliffhanger: Yes Make sure to check trigger warnings as well.
I LOVE Forrest's alpha males...I mean seriously. She writes the most delicious, possessive, obsessive and OTT males and I can't get enough. I can't wait to get more of Thalia and Calix's story. I really wanted more...the ending came way too quick and I wanted more interaction between Thalia and Calix but since this is just a short prologue story, I kind of get it. Kind of. Haha.
Thalia was promised to Calix as a child and when she became of age, she would become his and they would be married. Calix had it all but everything came crashing down and Thalia's life was torn to bits. Calix has watched from afar and plans to claim her but until that time Thalia lives a life of pain and duty. Calix wasn't able to protect her from everything but once he has her back in his clutches, he plans to right all the wrongs put upon her.
I loved Thalia. She was strong, smart and resourceful and I think she is going to be a force to be reckoned with. Calix is hot AF and I love how he handles Thalia. He knows exactly who she is and what she needs. Their story is going to be a bumpy one but their HEA will be all the sweeter for it.
This ends on a cliffhanger and was a doozy of a cliffhanger but I can't wait for the next installment of their story.
Ugh! What an introduction to Calix and Thalia ❤. Adelaide is such a wonderful writer and her characters, fabulous! Calix was just so protective of her even as a young teen and I loved how Thalia just refused to be broken. So super excited to read the book when it comes out. And that cliffy! *chef's kiss!*
A sensational start to Thalia and Calix's story and Adelaide Forrest did not pull any punches. Thalia, under her father’s strict rule, has been sold at a very young age to be married when she is of legal age. Unbeknownst to her, Calix, who treats with kindness and friendship, and gives her protection, is banned from her life and she settles into the despair of her lonely life, hoping he comes back to save her. Adelaide shocked us with the Bellandi series, captivated and ensnared us with the Beauty in the Lies series, but I think she will slay us with this series! 6 highly anticipated stars 🌟
I guess you would call this a prequel novella it does end in a cliffhanger but the book is due out soon and well worth reading. Devoured this short read and honestly can’t wait for there book to be released. I’ve not been able to read a full book in weeks as been in an awful slump but this was just want I needed
⚠️warning⚠️ depictions of violence, dubious consent, death of a parent, child abuse
This novella is a prequel to Dreams of the Deadly which is out 7/29. Thalia was promised to Calix as a child and when she comes of age they would marry. Over the years of them knowing each other Calix has always been a protective figure to Thalia especially from her abusive father. But after a mishap between his father and her mother, their life is turn upside down. This novella ends in a cliffhanger and can’t wait to see how their journey turns out.
This is the prologue to a new series that is centered around Calix and Thalia. As usual for this author the storytelling is AMAZING 😘😘
-Calix our H is: -devoted to Thalia, she’s been arranged to be his wife since she was 5 and he was 13. -protective -he’s had camera installed and an inside man to watch over her while he was away. (Stalker behaviors. But I wouldn’t call this stalkerish) -Greek mafia
Thalia our h is: -a typical mob daughter. She has to fall in line and be perfect in all ways. -abused as a child growing up as discipline -a loner and by herself mostly -a V -color blind
We can see how protective and how much Calix already just loved Thalia. Hopefully she can see past the fact he didn’t come sooner for her. Can’t wait to read this series!
Loved meeting the strange five year old version of Thalia and the beginning of their relationship. Such an odd child, intelligent beyond her years.
“If her parents truly forbid her from talking about the flowers, then I couldn’t imagine what kind of life she had with them.”
Even at thirteen, Calix’s thoughts were of Thalia. To slowly introduce himself and ready her for their marriage contract.
“Black and white and shades of grey: her world existed without warmth. In more ways than one.”
Little did Calix know where their oaths would lead them both or the life she was left in. Loved the pace and writing style. Easy to read, engaging mafia prologue.
Calix and Thalia, I can't wait for the next part of their story.
Thalia is under her father's abusive rule and is arranged to marry Calix at a young age. Thalia sees and goes through a lot very young she has been mistreated for being colour blind and left-handed. Calix gives friendship and protection from her father until he is banned from the city. Thalia is lonely and only cares about protecting her sister and hoping Calix comes back to save her one day.
This book made me feel so many things the way Adelaide Forrest writes her men.
A novella prequel to Dreams of the Deadly which will be out July 29th.
What a introduction and sneak peak to what awaits us! I am hooked and I can't wait to see what Adelaide has in store for us concerning these two. It's so good and I am already in love with Calix and his devotion to Thalia.
Also some of my favorite tropes: arranged marriage/obsessed and alpa MC
After the Beauty in Lies series, I'm literally at a point where I will read anything by Adelaide Forrest, even if it's her grocery list! She's sooo good, I'm still captivated and hungover on El Diablo.
So, this book is actually a short story, it's a prologue to her next series 'Massacred Dreams'. She hasn't announced dates for the next books yet, but this book ends in a happy-for-now, so it doesn't leave you exasperated.
Thalia Karras, daughter of a GREEK (yeah, you read it right!) Mafioso is contracted to marry Calix Regas when she's just five years old. Nothing to worry, the story is absolutely safe in that aspect.
Can't say more about the story since it would be spoilery for this short story, but I can talk about the characters though. The last time I read a Greek H was in my Mills & Boon Billionaire romances, so my inner teen was clutching her pearls looking at this badboy! And Thalia, she's not a pretty princess or a naive little thing, she's a warrior through and through! I love how Adelaide gives a special something to her characters, especially depicting how different or flawed can is also beautiful.
The Greek references have really got me intrigued on how this story is going to forward. Hopefully she writes it soon!
** This story was a part of the Tangled Sheets anthology, so if you have that book, you already have it.
I received an ARC for Dreams of the Deadly. Before starting it I noticed it was listed as book 2 in the series. This is incorrected. It's actually book 1 and THIS is the prologue listed as 0.5. Either way, I knew I had to read this prior to starting the ARC.
All I knew was this was mafia romance. I was NOT prepared for the violent emotional journey presented. This couple, (Thalia and Calix) have officially seared themselves into my brain. OMFG this starts with them as children!!! I LOVE THAT!!!!!
I refuse to list details, but let's just say a lot of unsavory, exciting, fked up shit goes down and I can not wait to start the next book. Like literally shaking, lock myself in a closet, do not fking disturb, I ready to continue this story asap!!!
I with all my heart insist that you start this series!!!
Wow. For a novella this was really good. I was in a book slump and this was the perfect read to get me out of it.
Coming back to the story, I saw this book on Instagram and instantly decided to read it. And Im so glad that I did. Although the plot was very obvious and cliche but the story is good.
It does end with a cliffhanger, but it's a novella for a new series that will be realised the coming year. I think I will be trying out more books form the author.
Adelaide's book never disappoints, This book just like the others is a masterpiece. This book ends with a cliffhanger, and it is not good let me tell you, now I can't wait for the next book to release. The plot of this book is a little different from the rest of her book. In most of her other book the H finds h by himself, either they dated in high school or were best friends, etc but here things started with an arrange marriage but there are twists in the plot which I won't spoil, but this story is going to be so worth it.
Well holy shit. This had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It’s super short, like 100 pages BUT WORTH IT. It feels like an intro and a bit of world building before we get the real story. This was amazing. I don’t know how I’m going to wait until September.
This book is amazing! I am trying to wrap my mind around what happened in this book. I was not expecting that cliffhanger! Where to begin with this incredible read that has left me astounded and needing more of the series of Massacred Dreams. Calix Regis and Thalia Karas’s story is one that left me on the edge of my seat. The chemistry and tension between these two characters was off-the-charts HOT!! Just when your thinking the story was going to go one way when BAM—out of nowhere it turns. I loved the way in which Calix and Thalia have progressed into their own person. This story is full of raw emotions, and it left me with the best book hangover. Calix and Thalia were two damaged people with tragedies in their past. But with Calix set on an unwavering quest for vengeance against certain individuals and other Mafia groups, Thalia is now a pawn caught in the crosshairs. Their journey is full of hurt, trust, lies and secrets. Lines will be crossed, secrets will be revealed. What happens next? Well, read this amazing story and find out—you won’t regret it! This is the first time I read Adelaide Forrest books, but since I love Mafia books, I assure you it will not be the last. In fact, I assure you that you will love every moment of this book—it is simply a fantastic read. I can’t wait to read the next book.

”She still smiled up at me like I hung the moon and stars in the night sky and gave her light in the darkness.”
I quite liked this. It was a lot to take in initially. I loved the concept of a few things (that I don’t want to spoil) but the entire “avenging angel” thing had me hooked.
Thalia. Strong and smart. Thalia intrigued me since the very start. I liked a lot of things about her.
Calix. I loved this man. He protected Thalia, almost died trying to protect her, eventually came back and killed those who wronged her, took her away, and cared for her. I love a man with these caregiving instincts, FR.
I loved this. This is a prologue to the first book of the Massacred Dreams duology.
Dreams of the Vengeful is the introduction/prequel to the Massacred Dreams Series having as protagonists Calix Regas and Thalia Karras, born in two families of a Greek criminal syndicate in Philadelphia. This is just an apetizer, a little touch in their dark, twisted and unforgivable world with an ott jealous possessive and protective alpha male - that we had prior connected with in Adelaide's Bellandi and Ibarra's worlds - and a seemingly fragile and demure young woman with an intense inner strength, but ready to accept what life (her father) thows her way in order to protect the only family she loves. I didn't read the story yet and I'm already sure that Calix and Thalia will be remarkable as a couple. Young friendship, protection, disconnection, covered reunion, 🔥incandescent🔥 trysts, chaos, gore and mayhem, a bloody ceremony and........and the rest I'll be anxiously waiting because I'm eager, biting my nails, theoryzing and really hoping this comes as fast as possible! Calix is mine...CLAIMED.
