Billy Graham was an American evangelical Christian evangelist and an ordained Southern Baptist minister. Graham is best known for his evangelistic missions or “Crusades.” He believed God knew no borders or nationalities. Throughout his career, Graham preached to millions around the world. He met and prayed with every U. S. president from Dwight Eisenhower to Barack Obama.
Graham authored 34 books, including his memoir, Just As I Am. In 1983, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Ronald Reagan. In 1996, Graham and his wife, Ruth, received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest award Congress can bestow on a private citizen.
Graham married Wheaton College classmate Ruth Bell Graham in 1943. They had five children ( Ruth Graham, Gigi Graham Tchividjian, Anne Graham Lotz, Nelson, & Franklin Graham) and made their home in the mountains of North Carolina. They were married for 64 years before Ruth’s death in 2007. Graham died from natural causes on February 21, 2018, at his home in Montreat, North Carolina, at the age of 99.
This was a very valuable book. Even though I've been a Christian for decades, I feel like I understand the crucifixion and what was accomplished better. I'll probably listen to or read this book again someday.
Amazing book! Great read for anybody at any step of their walk with Jesus. Most of the time when talking about the reality of the cross and how bad it was, we get a graphic image that makes our skin crawl because of the physical pain. Although that is good, Graham goes well beyond that into the spiritual and mental toll that it took and what Jesus was thinking. Chapter 4 “Price of Victory” is one of the best and clearest descriptions of the cross and its reality for our lives that I’ve ever read.
This added so much perspective on the cross for me. As a result my faith became deeper, and more appreciative of the price that was paid.
I’ve had a hard time grappling with death but remember the price that was paid is hope for us!
“One day you’re going to hear that Billy Graham has died… but don’t believe it! For that day I will be more alive than ever before. I will have just changed addresses!” - Billy Graham
This gave me a fresh look at how God loves the world so much he died for us. Yes, as many--at least a lot of Christians--likely know, he was taking the penalty of our sins, but what if we look a little closer? Although not presenting groundbreaking concepts or revolutionary ideas, the book still deepened my desire for God.
Very understandable book explaining Christ and why he willingly gave up his life to wipe away the sins of man. So many believers relate a dissertation why one should believe in Christ. Billy Graham lays it all right out there. This book made the explanation clear to me. Well done!
I love the Bible, and Billy Graham expounds on it very well in this book. To me, this reminds me of the great gift we were given, and it makes me thankful for all that the Lord has provided. I believe everyone could benefit from reading this book.
This book is for sure a 5⭐️ book. It really reminded me about everything Jesus did for me when he went to the cross. It reminded me of the price he truly paid and what it represents with my relationship with God and Jesus 🙏🏽🤍
Excellent book. I don’t normally recommend books but this was so good that I recommend it to believers and those wondering who Jesus is and did He really exist.
