Winter

He’s supposed to be my protector, the towering male with the delicious scent that drives my body wild.

He’s supposed to obey me, although he rides the line of disrespect with infuriating ease.

And when he’s injured, I’m supposed to gift him my powerful blood.

Only I don’t, and I can’t, and now my actions have broken the rules

And the man who once obeyed is going to own me.

Jacob

Beautiful, cold, and untouchable, Winter is all that and more.

The tiny little fairy with the frosty disposition and heart made of ice.

She’s supposed to heal me, but my miserly mistress gives me only scraps.

My mind despises her, even as my body craves her blood.

FINALLY a full-length MF Omegaverse story in the Omega Prey world! I'm thrilled. Orcs? Fae? and Vampires too? This has me like...whaaat? But the blood sucking in Lily's story in the Controllers series was hot so I'm down for this.

Triggers and warnings*** contains spoilers
General:
Rapture is a small deviation from the rest of the Coveted Prey universe in that we have a blood fairy Omega. If you have read my controllers series, this is very much in line with the way Lilly's blood worked in the Deviant books.
I have a heap of book ideas jotted down on bits of paper and electronic notes. Rapture was a story idea I began about ten years ago now and what inspired the way the blood came to work for Lilly in the Controllers. I always wanted to come back to this but never really had a clear idea how it would fit in with my other books. The introduction of the portals in the Omega / Coveted Prey world provided the perfect opportunity!
Triggers and warnings: Please don't read the spoilers unless you really do have triggers. It is impossible to say what they are without exposing parts of the plot.
Power exchange.
Power exchange relating to blood taking
H is with OW prior to any commitment with the h.

Alphas, Fairies, and Orcs...oh my!!

This was a nice and different installment to the Omega Prey world.

The Blighten Orcs got a hold of a keystone that has been allowing them to open portals and helped to give them an upper hand in the war. The Chosen, a council of high blood fairies, decide that Winter is going on a mission to retrieve the missing keystone. As their numbers dwindle she is one of the last ones that can sense the keystone. But Winter is broken and has been holed up in her own little bubble away from everyone for decades. She struggles to cope after a previous attack by an alpha warrior she was once paired with that left her traumatized.

Jacob is the young alpha warrior that is paired with her to go on the mission. He is compelled by the magical binding and the meld to protect her, obey her, and do nothing against her will. Jacob a strapping young warrior chaffes at the restrictions and feels little better than a slave. He resents Winter's cold standoffish demeanor taking it for feelings of superiority, instead of the painful dark truth. Winter even refuses to share her blood to help heal him which is the whole reason for their pairing.

As Jacob and Winter spend time together and plot against the Blighten, they grow close and start to imprint on each other. When a chance occurs to grab the keystone and escape the Orcs, Winter panics causing a deep betrayal to Jacob. As a punishment, Jacob is unbound from the magical restrictions holding him back in how he must treat her, and Winter is then given to Jacob to do with what he will.

And what does Jacob want from Winter? Revenge, but also to dominate her, show her who she now belongs to, and who's now in charge.

This was a great fantasy omegaverse. I really enjoyed this. What I summarized didn't actually touch on half of all that was going on in this story. There were twists and turns, plenty of action and all the while this push and pull, rolling boil of sexual tension between Jacob and Winter. It was super hot to see sexy alpha warrior Jacob thaw the ice around Winter's wounded heart....and lady bits lol.

Even though this was an ARC review, I will always shoot you straight. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Great Plot. Annoying heroine.

I have been reading L.V. Lane’s Prey series since they first came out and I love them, but… don’t judge me…. I read them mostly for the smut 😳😂.

The world building has gotten way better as the series continues, but I’ll be honest, after having read the 6 previous books in this series, I still didn’t really understand said “world building”. I had a fair idea that for some reason the characters were at war with the “Blighten”, who are orcs, but that was pretty much it! This was the first book in this series that actually set out the history of this world and explained the Orcs, where they came from, the portals, and the war in detail! Plot wise, this is by far the best book in this series. The smut was (as always with an L.V. Lane book) hot AF 🥵🥵🥵.

I would have given this book a solid 5 stars if it wasn’t for the heroine, Winter. I HATED THAT B!YČH SO HARD!!!! She was selfish and beyond weak. She was constantly weeping, whimpering, and shaking. Constantly collapsing because she was weak at the knees. Constantly frozen in terror and literally unable to function or do the simplest of things. I hate weak heroines. She was honestly so annoying I kept having to take reading breaks because I hated her so much. Poor Jacob. He deserved better. She did redeem herself towards the end (kind of) but it was too late by then. I already hated her!

The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with no typos that I found and gripping authorial voice. The world building was vivid, with the hierarchical structure of fairy society being drawn with nuance. The characterization was great, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals with nuance, strengths, and weaknesses. The development of the romantic relationship was hot, sweet, and angsty, with delicious Enemies to Lovers action and a heat level of five chili peppers. The plot was tight and action packed. As a consequence, the pacing flew by like a racehorse. This novel contained high levels of well justified angst and sky high stakes, which I typically enjoy in a romance novel. This novel contained the “Unlikeable” Heroine trope, which I have a definite weakness for, and Enemies to Lovers. The world building, plot, and pacing were all five stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also five stars. In my opinion, this novel may be in the top three best novels this author has ever written so far. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of five stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a great relief. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy gripping, action packed fantasy romances full of angst and sizzling heat. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it releases with great anticipation. I will buy myself a keeper copy of this novel, in paperback if it becomes available, in addition to e-book format.

This is different take on omega verse. Alphas are still dominant but they are bound by magic. Omegas are fairies and come in 4 varieties. Breeder, feeder, blood and high blood. Alphas drink the blood of the omegas and certain bloods are stronger than others.

This is definitely unusual. I felt a bit like I might be missing something but I haven’t read all the other books in this series so that’s probably it.

Winter is a high blood omega, she’s ordered by the chosen to go on a mission. She takes Jack, an alpha with her. Neither are happy to be going on this mission. Lots of things happen and she barely gives him any blood but despite that they are drawn together and start to imprint. Apparently this is a big deal.

When all is said and done and they make it back there are lots of questions about what happened, what went wrong and why she didn’t give him blood like she was supposed to do. She’s eventually stripped of her title, Jack is unbound and she’s given to him as a gift. He gleefully punishes her for all her imagined wrongs. Honestly, I didn’t like Jack, especially the way he behaved after he was unbound. Winter was very broken long before Jack came along and he never stopped to wonder why, only make a bunch of assumptions. If he’d been less selfish I might have been able to forgive him.

Despite not liking the H, the story is a great read. It’s well written and fascinating. I’d love to read a longer story with Winter and Jack, maybe he’d become more likable eventually. Winter and Jack had a palpable connection between each other.

Story 4/5, Heat 2/5, Darkness 1.5/5, Angst 2/5. Medium burn, no condoms, knotting, nesting, punishments. No cheating - but for the safety readers (do safety readers read these kind of books?) Winter witnesses Jack rutting a barmaid before they have anything together, she’s all jealous, of course, but tries to pretend like she’s not, not sure what it accomplished but it’s in there if you have issues with that sort of thing. No cliffhanger and a HEA.

This book far exceeded my expectations and that is really saying something. Liv is one of my favorite authors and this is one of my favorite series. The bar was set extremely high for this book and it surpassed my wildest dreams.

This book was STEAMMYYYY as you would expect. But beyond the surface level rutting you expect in an OV book (although that was there too) there was some pretty inventive and unexpected smoking hot scenes. I still get shivers thinking about it.

Beyond the steam there were some really deep and emotional situations. I was shocked at how so much of the core of this book resonated with me. If you don't want to read too much into it you can probably get away with out a deeply emotional experience but the pain and trauma that the characters experienced struck a chord with me. The damage that past pain can cause, and how it effects future relationships, is something I really identify with and it was masterfully laid out in this book.

This whole book was a journey that hit really close to home for me. Obviously not the Orcs but the dynamic growth of characters going from scared, hurt, alone, and caged by so many factors and growing and eventually finding a way to be free in what ever way you can. There are so many different ways one can feel enslaved and so many different ways one can express pain. Beyond that, true freedom is not the same fir everyone. There were definitely some underlying nods to power exchange that you might encounter in BDSM and it was beautifully conveyed.

The depth of this book was pleasantly surprising. Liv has knocked another one out of the park. I am often a very critical reader but I could not find a single flaw. Prize had been my favorite book of the year but Rapture is a rival for that title. Everything about it was so good.

Fear or Fate…

Jacob and Winter a little bit of enemies to lovers chemistry going on.
Fairy Omega and Warrior Alpha this was a different spin for me in the Omegaverse world. The world build up was very descriptive and you could imagine exactly what the author was writing. Jacob and Winters back story was both tragic and heart wrenching. These two were meant for each other. But first they have to face saving a keystone, becoming a captive slave and plan an escape all to get to a point in the story that could of had drastic consequences for Winter.
If you are a fan of Omegaverse this can be read as a standalone or part of a series.
LV Lane always has a different twist and I enjoy reading anything by this author.

So much potential...By MeemsAngel82

This is a new author for me, the premise seemed wonderful and interesting so I just couldn't help myself and jumped right in. I'm volunteering to leave my review for this free ARC from BookSprout. This story was well written, this is world filled with dangers and a journey between our couple.

The style of writing was very good. The concepts are great, the characters are well written and defined. Our H needs the blood from our h to keep going. She appears cold because of her past hurt and this life they are in, but they both come to realize that they need one another. As soon as they were introduced, the way it was written grabbed my attention right away and when they met there was so much to look forward to! That being said, what started out as an immediately interesting read with amazing chemistry between our two leads, intense heat... quickly went downhill. They clearly want each other throughout the story, but the portrayal wasn't my cup of tea.

**Spoilers this paragraph only**. Upon reaching a place to rest for a time, our H immediately takes a female he previously saved up against a wall, our h hears them, sees it and he looks at her while in the act. Throughout the journey he acts like a jerk and doesn't really try to understand why or care why she feels scared and sad. Then...squeezes her throat...not gently. He takes her even after she clearly doesn't want it. Again, and again. What was great sexual tension turned ugly, a truth he acknowledged but it also turned her on, degrading her over and over. I thought I was getting a romantic read. **I had checked Goodreads and was about to leave my review there when I just saw a trigger warning that I'd not seen before. I don't know how I missed this because I do my research before trying out certain books...strange, again, as I've never done that before. I received an email from the author after me posting on Booksprout and we discussed triggers. But since this wasn't something I saw, my 3 review will be going up to a 4.**

Now that I've just seen a trigger warning, fair is fair and while this is still my opinion, keep in mind I didn't read the trigger. While the writing was very well done and had a very, very high heat level...I don't do books if my lead is going to sleep around. They didn't even get very far together and there he was, gladly taking someone else and wanting to do it again. That's a me thing. The physical harm, the nastiness of our H. How romantic. I am so, so disappointed. I wished so badly that he didn't turn out to be THAT...I wish that he wasn't that type of person, I felt like she softened, he hardened and both not for the better. Unfortunate, because they both needed to come together for the reader and for themselves in a more satisfying way for me. I have a heavy heart to say it, because again, the writing and sheer chemistry was SO good...but I will never read this author again. That being said, this author is super talented and should have a bright future. To each their own, readers into these triggers will love this.

At this point, I am very comfortable in saying that I don't think there is a book L.V. Lane writes that I don't like... And I still need to find the time to read a couple of her books that I haven't gotten to yet.

This universe in the Omega Prey series is bigger than I first thought it would be, and it works!
I'm actually delighted. This book has a bit of a 'vampire' feel to it, and the Omega's here are Faeries.

The Alpha's are the 'vampires' and the Omegas are all on a different "blood rank" if you will.

It did remind me a bit of the Controller's series and how Lilly's blood worked because it's very similar, it gives the Alpha's extra stamina/strength etc, but unlike in the Controllers series in Rapture, it depends on what type of Omega she is and that determines what the blood does.

Winter and Jacob's story is an enemy to lovers tale.
Winter is 'high blood', the highest cast of Omega, and with that comes immortality for lack of a better word. She has all the characteristics of an Omega, and once upon a time, she was a blossoming, happy and giving one. But sadly past events have scarred our dear Winter and she's become cold...existing rather than living.

Jacob is quite young, and a warrior. Once a slave after Blighten attacked his homeland, he was rescued and conscripted into a King's army.
Already from the start, I felt there was something about Jacob that made him stand out. Despite his young years, I felt he's a bit of an old soul.
He's a very strong fighter with high moral sense.

Winter and Jacob's book had me enthralled from the start, and I could not put it down.
In true Lane style, it had great steam, great battle scenes, humour, sarcasm and a great introduction to other characters, leaving a door open to explore more.

A definite 5 star from me!

Rapture is set in L.V. Lane's Omega Prey world. However, it's a bit different from the other books in the series. While this is still omegaverse, here we have fae omegas who can give healing blood to alpha warriors when paired together for a mission. Winter is a high blood fairy who has a lot of prior trauma when it comes to giving blood. She is paired with Jacob for a dangerous mission. I really enjoyed this different take on omegaverse. The plot is fast moving and the world building is intricate and rich with detail. Of course, there's the delicious alpha omega steam that I've come to expect from Ms. Lane's books. But what really sold this book to me was the emotional depth of the characters and the unconventional path to their happily ever after. Both Winter and Jacob are shackled by circumstances. Winter is so masterfully written that I really got to empathize and root for this initially cold and remote character. Jacob is quite likable at first, but it was the final unrestrained version of him that really resonated with me. I also really enjoyed the blood dynamics that L.V. lane brought into the story and hope to see more of these alpha warrior and omega fae couplings. Overall, this is an outstanding addition to the series that might be my favorite of the Omega Prey books!

Uhm

Hellllooooooo Nurse

Dark, twisty, smexy, and bloooooody.

L.V. Lane has given us a standalone (in a series) MF Omegaverse that is dark and twisty and filled with lots of deliciousness. You got so many good things going for this book that it is just about impossible to keep up with it.

Feel in the mood for some fae, some orcs, some OV madness and then some bloody goodness thrown in? This is the book for you.

The story line is one that has been long coming from the genius that is Ms Lane and I am so glad she has written it down and shared it with the world. Our FMC has some serious issues to overcome and along with the MC she works through it in some non-conventional ways that leaves me begging for more.

On top of that we are gifted with amazingly complex characters that make you fall in love with them from the get go (even if it is to make you love to hate them)

All in all a really amazing book witch really hit deep.

I would describe this is a dark fantasy novel with elements of omegaverse. It’s dark in tone as well as in terms of the romance. I thought the world building was great and the concept of different types of omegas an interesting take on the genre. For me it was a little too dark though and it bothered me than the hero had no problem seriously hurting the heroine.

I hate this book primarily because of Winter. And I enjoyed it because of her real-life internal struggles

Let me explain. This is the first book by the author that I haven't liked right off. I appreciate that the author takes the risks she does and writes about all different types of FMC - strong and weak omegas, betas, betas that are latent omegas - they all find love and live within LV Lane's interconnected worlds through their strength of love of the gruff alpha-holes that claim their hearts. This story is so different.

It starts off in one of those interconnected world that is run by fairies (though at first I though it was just a condescending moniker). Here omegas force bindings on alphas to make them into subservience warrior slaves to them by means of their blood. WTF!

Enter Winter, the stone-coldhearted b!tch that will basically hold the leash of the Alpha Warrior, Jacob, as they travel on a suicide mission to retrieve an object from the Blighten in his home world. All he has to do is protect her and bring her back safely; all she has to do is give him some of her blood to heal him if needed. When things go wrong, she fails to follow through on her end of the binding, though he is forced to continue to protect her.

This is the first time that I like the MMC more than the FMC in one of Lane's books. I honestly have no sympathy for her for the majority of the book, no matter what excuses are given. I may be hard-hearted too I guess, but this book took a lot for me to get through it though by the end I was glad that I did.

It reminded me we all make mistakes and snap decisions that are made based on the pain and hurt from the past in order to protect us today; they limit the prospects of our future choices and cut off our avenues for happiness. I was glad to experience the journey of growth the Winter went through to let go of the past and make amends.

Ok I did not intend to read this in one sitting but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ that is what happened. I just couldn't stop or put it down and this was not a quick read. I've read Ms. Lane's other books in this universe and this is definitely a standalone and a departure from the others with new elements and kinds of characters introduced. It's a big epic and a lot amazing, well written with hotness and plot.

In this dual point of view story we meet Winter, an omega both revered and disliked - high born and valued for her abilities but standoffish, as outwardly cold as her name suggests. Then there is Jacob, an alpha tasked with protecting her on a vital mission. This is a type of character dynamic I've seen before in the author's books but this time, for reasons I won't spoil, the dynamic is quite different and the balance of power is not what you're expecting. This story is also a little heavier than previous books with the characters being put through some challenging situations in their world in addition to trying to navigate their connection to each other.

We do get a happily ever after and I liked the way the problems were resolved. Winter may be outwardly cold and seemingly selfish but she's not unlikable to the reader as Liv has written her in a way that you want to hug her for what she's been through - if only after you shake her and smack her on the behind.

Winter, an Omega-High Blood-Fairy and Jacob, a powerful Alpha warrior are sent on a mission to obtain a missing Keystone that's enabling the Blighten Orcs access to portals that are helping them in their war. In their quest to find the Keystone Jacob is to protect Winter and in exchange for his protection, Winter is to feed Jacob her blood to help him heal from wounds he gets during his fight to protect her. Winter fails at her part of the bargain and denies Jacob the blood he needs to heal properly and regain his strength to fight. Winter has her reasons but it's not right to let Jason suffer. There are mysteries, wars, fighting, shifters, Orcs and adventures throughout but I was not happy with the actions Winter takes and she will pay in the end for not fulfilling her part of their quest. In the end, we do get a HEA and Winter learns her lesson as Jacob gains power over her.

I am trying to find the words to describe to you all how much I desperately loved this book, and.....it is very very difficult! This book is so much more than an enemies to lovers trope - it is more a "soul wrenching, soul baring, paralytic fear inducing, eternal love" type of story. And I can't get enough! Rapture will be a re-read for years to come because the magic and the angst and the love that these characters exude will grab me EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.

Rapture

I think this novel is one of the best that this author has written. As usual she gets top marks for the world building, adding a new dimension to this series with Fairy-like omegas that have power over warriors. The plot is interesting with lots of action as Winter and Jacob are paired together to travel through a portal to retrieve an object deemed important by the Chosen. The world of orcs, shifters, fairies was fascinating if a bit bloody. And as usual the author has us wondering if there is some secret that is being kept just out of reach.

The main female character is not easy to like and I just wanted to scream at her to help heal her warrior when she hesitates to do so. She lives up her name, cold with a heart of ice. And even though we are given her back story I thought that her failure to act deserved some recompense. I found Jacob to be a great counter balance to Winter with his backstory and his strength in the face of slavery. It was interesting how as the story progresses there is a reversal in power and they both benefit from this change.

The romance is more of a slow burn, with the tension building between the main characters as they continue on their quest. Of course the action heats up and we get to experience all the typical alpha/omega pairing with knotting, nesting, and an extra factor with the Blood. But we are forced to wait for the slick and sweaty rutting, which just adds to the pleasure in their HEA.

I love how L.V. Lane takes us to new places and adds character differences while keeping to the alpha/omega trope. I am looking forward to the next story in the series, and I definitely recommend this book if you enjoy a/o or fantasy romances.

I love Winter and Jacob!

Ms. Lane done a good job giving a new flare in omegaverse.
New world where alpha with vampiric need to have blood for more strenght and healing.
New world when omega can have high ranking with how strong their blood can effect the alpha and have the power to bind alphas to their will.
New world, where omega are divided in ranks/caste, some even higher than alphas.

There are always debate among readers about omegaverse. On how omega are nothing more than slave and alpha are their abuser. And i think, in some way, ms. Lane answer it in this book.

While in first part we see the "new world" i mention above as winning, along the way we see how un natural it is for both alpha and omega, for both Jacob and Winter.
Naturally dominant, this strong will warrior is force to bend down with the binding spell that bind him to always be truth and protect his mistress, the High Blood, no matter what.
Naturally submissive, the ancient long live omega, is like an ice mountain who is too scarred and broken, she couldn't even remember how to surrender her power and just let go.

In their mission, this bring disaster that threaten not just their life, but also war.

Balance.
I would use that one word to describe how ms. Lane wants to tell her omegaverse story.

Balance in power between the omega and alpha depicted so perfectly specially in their steamy scenes.

The vampiric ways when the alpha drink her blood when they are United, are both sexy and powerfull.
Her strenght in her blood give him life.
His strenght and dominant way to provide her safety, give her the life she need.

At the end, i think ms. Lane done a good job in saying power exchange, trust, dominant and submissive nature in omegaverse, are not abusive relationship.

When I started reading the book, I felt like it was a little slow or else I was missing something from previous books in this series that I have not read. It got better the longer I read and I did enjoy the story. Jacob is a vampire and serves as a protector for Winter, who is a fairy. They have issues with each other but have been sent on a mission so they must work together. Winter is to be a blood source for Jacob when he is injured but because of a near fatal experience she does not totally fulfill her obligations to him. This is an enemy to lovers story with a lot happening that is not always pleasant. It is a good read and there were times when I was a little lost in the story but eventually I figured out what was happening. I definitely feel like if I had read some of the earlier books, in this series, it would have helped.

Winter is a high blood fairy who just happens to be an Omega. The Chosen have given her a dangerous mission, with her uncanny ability to sense keystones and as their numbers dwindle and the endless war scours, her mission is to find the stolen keystone which could give them an advantage to end this war and defeat the orcs.

Jacob is an Alpha blood bound to Winter which means he must protect and obey. The only problem is he can’t be a true Alpha while blood bonded to her . Also, she is stingy with her healing and powerful blood, which he needs; however, she has a good reason!

During their dangerous quest there will be orcs, shifters and when captured, everything turns upside down.

Can they escape and find the keystone and get back to the portal? You must read to find out!

L.V. Lane never disappoints and I absolutely love the vampiric aspect of this book. Reminds me of the absolutely fantastic Controller Series, which you must read as well . And as always, I can’t wait for her next Omegaverse story!

I’m absolutely hooked!

Both Winter and Jacob, the female and male leads, come to this story with significant historical damage. The trigger warning is totally accurate and should be heeded.

Whilst Winter is centuries older than Jacob, because of the abuse she suffered, she has withdrawn almost totally from the world and, when forced to engaged with it, she is very unprepared. Jacob is a strong, decisive character, with goals and dreams that he pursues even in the face of opposition.

The story is dual POV, well written, and felt like it had a sense of melancholy throughout, with both characters struggling to deal with elements of their past and present. It is highly erotic and genuinely finishes with a happily ever after but it is hard fought for and both characters have to work for it.

Exciting, thrilling and very steamy!

WOW! This was one hell of an exciting and very thrilling story that had me shooing my kids away so that I could delve deep into the highly erotic moments without being disturbed. Nothing like having a kid interrupt some mommy time!!

In this story, we are thrust into a magical world filled with orcs, shifters and fairies, who are slightly vampiric in nature, but still are alpha and omega. This omegaverse world is filled with wonderful imagery and outstanding worldbuilding that brings the story to life on the pages.

Winter takes us readers on an emotional journey of heartbreak, pain and eventually passion and love. She is a phenomenal character that goes through so much growth over the course of her journey with Jacob. She had me completely captivated and enthralled right to the very end.

Well written story with dark moments, highly erotic moments and thrilling dangerous moments from beginning to end. It will keep you turning the pages quickly to see how it all plays out in the end.

Highly recommend.

The book was an interesting read, but felt the character lost herself in the male lead character quickly and didn't discuss her trauma well. The book is definitely a dark romance, no lies there. At times gives off very dark rapey vibes. For the average person it may be okay but may be very triggering for abuse survivors. Still keen to read other books from this author who I believe has great potential just needs to focus bit more on character building and dialogue between the main characters, less on the erotic sex scenes. Overall, a good book and has enough substance to the storyline to keep you interested.

Great world building. 5 stars - This is the first book from this author that I have read. I always admire good imagination. The story is very interesting. I don’t usually pick Alpha/Omega books but this is a mashup of that and fairies, orcs, shapeshifters and other beings. Winter is a High Blood Omega and Jacob is an Alpha melded to Winter for this mission assigned by the Chosen. It is action-packed, full of danger and adventure. The pages that doesn’t have dialogue will not make you want to skip it. It aids in understanding the plot. You can say that I’ll be looking for more books in this series. “Please, I need you. I need you to make me forget all the pain and worries. Please, I need you, Jacob.”

Another super-quick and spicy read by LV Lane! I have loved every story in the Coveted Prey series. This one has great omegaverse elements, with a fairy omega who has special blood and a towering Alpha warrior. They do not have an easy relationship. There is a lot of antagonism before their HEA with dark elements throughout.

Genre: Omegaverse Romance
Tropes/Features: enemies to lovers, fairy FMC with past trauma, Alpha Warrior MMC, claimings and bindings, NC
Narrator: Dual 1st Person POV
Relationship Type: MF, medium burn, super spicy
Book Type/Ending: Standalone in Coveted Prey series, HEA

This was a good read - I enjoyed the way that the story was told and the background of the female heroine who comes from a broken background. I loved the hero who has his own very strong alpha personality and even though he goes through traumatic incidents because of her, he never takes it out on her, even though he has to deal with deep feelings of anger. The author has a way of describing feelings and events which makes you relate to the story as well as feel emotionally tied to the two main characters. I have read other L.V Lane books and also enjoyed them thoroughly.

This story is unlike anything I've read before, and very different from other books by Ms. Lane. It was a challenge for me as a reader because, as others have said, Winter isn't easy to sympathize with. However, her coldness is her armour and that's something I can relate to. For me, that shield made me fall more in love with her as the story progressed. It made the eventual relationship between Winter and Jacob more beautiful. I loved the world building, I loved the action-packed adventure, I loved the slow build-up of the romance, I absolutely loved the heat and sexy scenes, and in the end I loved Winter and Jacob.

Love the cover! Title was good but it was the blurb and author that had me grabbing this one!

What did I like? This book is definitely a mash up with fairies and a vampiric alpha. Winter lives up to her name but with reason as she is paired up with Jacob to find some portal keys. After they are captured they forge together and start to really begin their relationship. The pages begin to steam as well. Just omegaverse greatness after that.

Would I recommend or buy? I just love omegaverse and this author really goes all out with it. This was an especially steamy book and I really enjoyed the read! If you know this author then you will love this book!
