Just A Little Pixie Dust: Magnolia Mysteries Series

Rate this book
Sarabella, or well, Tink isn't exactly your normal fairy. Better known as the very much so aggressive and attitude ridden fairy Tinker Bell, she's taken on a new life, form and job living among humans in a town full of other fairy tales run by none other than Jacob Grimm. She's now a full time detective and rather human apart from that one thing that all creatures of old fairy tales hold. The ability to take any form of mortal blow and still heal from it -- The only thing they can't heal from is a deadly blow from a cursed object from their worlds.Still fiery as ever though, she's got a whole new breed of story to tell everyone.****Welcome to Magnolia, Louisiana a rather unknown town that’s both not too big or too small, in fact it’s just the perfect size for all that inhabit the place. There’s only one thing with this town though - it’s full of Fairy Tale creatures from various stories and various Authors and for the most part they do their best to keep humans from ever wandering inside of the town.Though the world has assumed that those from the books could never be real and that the majority of these Authors are dead that’s not entirely true - at all. As it stands Jacob Grimm is still alive, and working to keep those he can in line within’ Magnolia and even going as far as hiring Sarabelle Darling. Someone none of them ever thought would be hired into such a spot, especially with her background.Sarabelle has been working for Jacob for the past 15 years as a Detective in the small Police Station they run, along with other very hard working and amazing cops. But things take a turn for the worse when it seems that Jacob and Sarabelle both are being targeted for some reason and when Jacob goes missing that’s when things get really bad. Sarabelle is forced to go into hiding and look for whoever has been doing this before it’s too late for Jacob.

Just A Little Pixie Dust is the beginning of a wonderful world of Fairy Tale characters in modern day without their magic... or are they? This story introduces us to a variety of fairy tale characters, but primarily focuses on Sarabelle... or Tinker Bell as she's more popularly known. Bell is a detective of fairy tale characters and has some history with her boss Jacob Grimm (of the writers Grimm). When he goes missing she has to find him. Full warning, this book ends with a cliffhanger.

Melinoe has created a fun world with all of the fairy tale characters we grew up, even if they're not exactly as we remember them being written. It feels like there's a lot of backstory for all the characters and I'm curious to see where Melanie plans on taking them all.

My first ever bad review. Punctuation, hello? I reread so many lines trying to organi,e what she was saying.. and the ramble of character's names... overwhelming. I felt I was indeed, Alice talking to the Mad Hatter... 3 chapters and decided, this story just isn't worth my time or headache. Sorry, have never left a poor review before but it had to be said.

Great book. My only bone to pick is that the smut scenes were random and not really needed to make the book good.

I'm a new reader to Melanie Black and I'm glad I stumbled upon this book! I lost myself in this world - I was sucked in and on the edge of my seat, reading more and more to see what happened next. I loved that this book is written from so many POVs with multiple couples! This was an easy read that kept me on the edge of my seat. A new take on fairytale retellings. And I cannot wait to see what is next for the new empowered Tinkerbell.

I received an ARC copy to read and review, these opinions are honest and all mine!

This is my first read for Melinoe. This story gave me vibes of the show Once Upon Time, due to all of the fairytale characters, and author's. This version however has us following Sarabelle who is Tinkerbell, as the main character, and she is a detective. There are also pov chapters from several other characters. It's a murder mystery/love story. Overall it was good book and nice break between my usual reads.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

This book was not what I expected. It surprised me in a good way. Having all the characters from beloved stories in it, it made for a great read, I was not expecting that villain! Tinkerbell is the main character with multiple POV from the other characters. It was nice to know what was going on in everyone’s head. This was my first book by Melinoe Balck and I’m not disappointed.

“This was my first time reading a book of this author and surely won’t be the last. This story was phenomenal! A mix of Castle’s sassy attitude and Criminal Minds vibe. I’ve always love detective/crime shows and this book gave me everything I love. Add all the fairytale characters and it’s like being in Disney World or OUT. Even though it’s a mystery story the love part isn’t left aside. A mix of murder and love all together. A great story!”

I recieved a free ACR copy to read and review.

I was pulled in from the get go. Tinker bell being so Fiesty is definitely why she's my fave and I loved the fairy tale twist on this one and the mystery that kept you on the edge of your seat. So excited to see what's in store next.

This reads more like a first draft for me. The premise is promising, but the execution is where it fails. Grammar and punctuation may not be deal breakers for others, but it throws me out of the story. And cliffhangers done poorly are not enticing. They are just disappointing and frustrating.
