My mom always said you don’t get a second shot at making a first impression. I’ve remembered that my entire career. Especially since I’m one of the few black men who play professional hockey.
I’m calculated and respectful in the way I speak to my coaches, the owners, and the media. I’ve never taken a risk… until her.
I could blame it on the fact that for once I pushed away the pressure of my career for the ocean waves, the sand, and good times with my new teammates. But those are excuses because the minute I saw her at the airport, something lit up inside me and the best week of my life was spent with her in my bed.
After our week in paradise, we said goodbye, exchanged phone numbers and both assumed that unless one of us was flying through the other’s city on the opposite side of the country, our vacation fling was over.
Then one night after practice I see her. She’s here. In my city. Telling me she moved here for a job. If that’s not fate tell me what is.
I’ve never wanted a second shot more than I do this time, but she’s determined to leave what we were on the island we left behind.
Piper Rayne is a USA Today Bestselling author duo. Our goal is to bring you romance stories that have "Heartwarming Humor With a Side of Sizzle" (okay...you caught us, that's our tagline). A little about us... We both have kindle’s full of one-clickable books. We're both married to husbands who drive us to drink. We're both chauffeurs to our kids. Most of all, we love hot heroes and quirky heroines that make us laugh, and we hope you do, too.
H is a manwhore and isn't celibate during the separation; OF COURSE, the h is celibate 😐 (months before, they had a holiday fling and the H was salty about the aftermath, so his answer was to sleep around- the sad thing is that he WASNT a manwhore before!). The H has OW in every city he visits for his away games; he even slept with the h's sister multiple times 😐 (he didn't know they were sisters, but still... ).
Sigh... women like sex too🤷 just like men...
Why is it okay for a man to sleep around and the woman just needs to accept it/forgive it? Even though she ghosted him (for whatever reasons and can be “blamed” because of it), I don’t find him sleeping with any available puck bunny an admirable trait?

Second read: 1 star This book bugged me, so I tried it for a second time. With a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews I wonder if my second time reading the book would give me another review rating. And it did, only by downgrading my original rating. The manwhore trope and pet peeve plot twist still bothered me and it made me angry the authors went this way with Cory and Ande’s story. Why did they turn him into a manho, when he was so different and even a sweet non player guy in the novella? This really turned me off! And that all before the plot twist which made me 🤮 AGAIN! Ande’s scheming with her sister was also a no no. This book was a real disappointment the second time around. I wish the authors had taken another angle with this story. My least favorite book in this series and of Piper Rayne in general. Sorry to say I really hated this book, when I normally love everything this author duo writes. Not safe enough for me 👎🏻
***Safety spoilers👇🏻*** Safe with exception I guess. I had such high hopes for this couple in the novella, but they had total different characters in this book. Hero was not a player in the novella and a really sweet guy. Here he is a manwhore. Of course he isn’t celibate during separation, she is. This guy has a girl in every town during his away games. He even slept with the heroine’s sister, so yeah double dipping in this book. Not once, but multiple times when he was in her city. He didn’t know they were sisters, but it did bite him in the ass when the heroine found out. The way she handled this news, not cool. OW drama with the sister. No OM drama although the heroine pretended to date her best friend to push the hero away. No sex with OP in this book.
Original read April 2022 Cory is a rookie on the Florida hockey team and enjoying the life of a famous hockey player. On the field he doesn’t get the playtime he would like, but off the field he’s a magnet for women and enjoying the perks of all the offers he receives. He wasn’t always like this though. Months ago he and Ande had a holiday fling, which he believed had a deeper connection. But when their week was over, so was every contact between them. He tried to reach out to her, but without any reply from Ande his ego was bruised. Then one day after practice they meet again at the grocery store. Cory still feels the same spark and is determined to fight for his woman and not to let her slip away this time. But Ande wants to leave their fling in the past and isn’t keen on rekindling their romance. She read the tabloids and isn’t sure Cory can be trusted. Will he be able to capture her heart once and for all?
This book was my most anticipated book of 2022 since reading Tropical Hat Trick and Sneaking Around With #34. I loved Cory and Ande and was shipping them for my favorite couple in this series. Unfortunately the number 1 spot is still reserved for Warner and Imogen. Cory and Ande just couldn’t add up to their chemistry. I had a hate/love relationship with Cory in this book, which I never would’ve guessed in the novella but was afraid would happen in the previous book. As I continued reading this book I started to like him more, but he didn’t win me over.
One side character stood out for me and that’s Kane. Oh my gosh, I loved him! His interactions with Cory were the best. Ande doesn’t easily trust people, which obviously causes some frustration on Cory’s part. But Kane to the rescue here, because he and his wisdom always make sense, lol. I liked that the authors showed us Cory and Ande growing back to each other. There were some bumps along the way, but I have to praise Cory for his persistence.
For me this book could’ve easily been a 5 star read! I was shipping Cory and Ande for 2 books! However the authors took a risk with this storyline and the plottwist was one of my pet peeves. I have to be honest, I would’ve enjoyed the book more without it. The book contained more angst and drama than I’m used to with a Piper Rayne novel. The storyline is definitely entertaining, but too angsty for my liking. Something I haven’t experienced in the other books in this series. That’s not too say I didn’t enjoy the book, because I did and finished reading it within the 24 hours time frame. I loved the tiny sneak peaks in the other couple’s relationships, without them taking over the story. Told in dual POV.
Next couple is Kane and Jana and of course I’m super excited to read about Kane! I loved that man in this book!

I loved the last book in this series, seriously loved it, but unfortunately I did not feel the same way about Second Shot With #76. Being that this couple had a past, a vacation fling in Tropical Hat Trick, I was all in for a good second chance romance and instead it became a huge angst fest filled with dishonesty and game playing leaving me disappointed in the romance aspect of this book. That being said, there were other aspects of this book I truly loved which saved it from being a complete shut out.
In Tropical Hat Trick, Cory is a rookie on the Florida Fury hockey team who has a weeklong vacation fling with Ande while in the tropics with the team. They had so much chemistry it oozed off the page. He tried to contact her again, but she ignored him still nursing a broken heart from a bad break-up. Listening to another teammate, Cory decides that taking advantage of what the puck bunnies have to offer is a good thing, after all he’s young, single, a pro hockey player and obvious Ande didn’t feel the same connection he did. So when they run into each other again in Florida where she’s relocated from Utah, he feels like this is a new start until she introduces him to her fiancé. However, the Team WAGS who spend time with her on vacation keep inviting her and her significant other to events, Cory supplies them with hockey tickets, and he soon realizes something isn’t quite right between Ande and Trevor.
I’ll be clear, I wanted Cory and Ande together; I loved them in Tropical Hat Trick and you could just tell they were meant to be and while I can’t fault Cory for going overboard on women he wasn’t even a little bit discrete which upset his parents to no end and made a big difference in the way Ande felt about him when they saw each other again. I’m not saying that’s fair or right or wrong, but because he knew Ande’s baggage it became a bigger deal especially when she’s confronted with one of his hook-ups face to face.
As much as I loved these two before, I had a hard time liking and connecting with them both in this book and that made it difficult to love this book. Cory had an attitude that we hadn’t seen before and like I said I get it, I really do and he had every right to hook up with whoever he wanted, but the fact he didn’t really understand how hard that was on Ande showed he really didn’t understand women very much. I think Cory is a good person and it was easy to see how much he still liked Ande and wanted to pursue something with her, but he missed so many signals that something wasn’t right and he ignored them. As much as Cory disappointed me, Ande made me angry. I get that she was hurt, I understand the anger she felt, but instead of confronting the issue and asking for an explanation, instead of taking the word of someone who hasn’t been very trustworthy in the past, she decided to play relationship games and for a good portion of this book I hated her for her behavior.
I did enjoy watching Cory and Ande reconnecting, building on what they had in the past, and becoming closer and while Ande had good intentions of coming clean with Cory she left it too long. While Cory really didn’t do anything wrong and his attitude was a bit off (IMHO) about it, Ande did major damage and was lucky Cory had good people to help him see the big picture.
The bright spot in this book was the camaraderie of Cory and his teammates and the mentorship by Kane toward Cory that helped him see things in a different way. I absolutely adored the way their relationship grew during this book and I cannot wait to see what happens in the future with these players and their team. As always, I love seeing the couples from the previous books and catching up on what is going on in their lives as well.
While I didn’t love this book, I would not have wanted to miss it as there were many surprising moments. It held my interest, I just not a fan of angst and game playing so the romance part of this book didn’t do it for me. That being said, I am stoked about what’s to come in this series and I cannot wait for the next book!
I'm sorry to say that but I couldn't care less about these characters. The story couldn't hold my interest at all and the plot was a bit f*cked up, at least for me. I couldn't even finish it, I just skim-read the last few chapters. Definitely my least favorite book of the series. 2 ⭐
Cory Freeman, you are the hottest Hockey hottie from Piper Rayne. Just don't tell your teammates. This man has won my heart fair and square. He is the perfect combination of wicked and charming. Ande really didn't have any chance. Second Shot with #76 was witty, emotional and full of trademark bromance from Florida Furys that just cannot be missed.
I will suggest reading without reading the blurb because the surprise twist was definitely amazing.Cory Freeman is the rookie recruit of Florida Furys and he is living his playboy athlete days in full glory. He had a vacation fling with Ande and he couldn't get her out of his head but he couldn't reach out to her. And one day they meet again in his own city. Ande just moved in for her new job and she doesn't trust him enough to date him. And things are about to get complicated. Scorned sister. A team trying to make Cory's personality shine. Doesn't make sense? It will once you get on this rollercoaster.
Cory Freeman is probably the most adorable of the bunch. He doesn't really have a complicated backstory. Just a talented player trying to find his permanent place in a new team and struggling with the perks and setbacks of being a celebrity athlete. His heart is so beautiful and let's talk about his droolworthy tattoed body. Or his charm or swoony ways or the smirking hot goodness. Ande was rightly conflicted. The media portrays his as this Callous manw***e who uses and discards women. But when he is pursuing her with single minded dedication, he is the most amazing would be boyfriend. She has been hurt and her past is traumatic. She is fragile and protecting herself from ugliness. But Cory is determined to bring her guard down by showing how serious he is about their relationship. But the outside forces are interfering and Ande made a stupid plan that she finally could go through but it almost broke them. But what's a good love story with some good natured heartbreak? It was a sinful slow burn and I don't mind at all. As usual, I freaking loved meeting all the boys and their queens again. My boys are growing up and I felt so emotional. They are one loud and crazy and loving and funny family. And only Piper Rayne can make me fall in love with their next hero RIGHT NOW. I haven't recovered from Cory induced swoony lusty haze and I am already craving Kane's story! BRING IT ON.
Cory and Ande's story began in TROPICAL HAT TRICK, but you do not have to read that story in order to read this one. They met while she was on vacation and he was at Ford and Lena's Destination Wedding while there they had a week-long fling. Since they lived in different parts of the country so they parted ways but Cory never forgot about Ande and when he comes face to face with her in the grocery store not far from where he lives he couldn't be happier. He's hoping to get a second chance with her but she's not so sure.
I liked this story but I didn't love it. There are a couple of reasons why and I guess the biggest one is that I just couldn't connect with either Ande or Cory and it's for different reasons.
I will say that I did not like the twist in the story, yes I did see it coming but that didn't have me warming up to it at all. I know that I am in the minority when I say that but it is what it is.
Is it steamy? Yes!
Is it a Hockey Second Chance Romance? Heck yeah it is!
Is it an Interracial Romance? YES! I don't know about you but I love when I start reading and realize it's an interracial couple.
Would I recommend it to others? Yes! Just because it wasn't my cup of tea doesn't mean it wouldn't be yours.
I would recommend this book to those that enjoy Steamy New Adult Romances, Hockey Romances, Second Chance Romances, or Interracial Romances.
Cory and Ande don't start off traditional so why should their story be anything but crazy mesmerizing. You realize quickly who the villain is... Well I'm not telling obviously!!! It's intriguing from the start. You get hit with road block after road block and quickly understand the author is going to make you work for it. I had no trouble falling into these pages. Like usual, the author takes you into their world.
I'm really enjoying Piper and Rayne's Hockey Hotties series, and I love the dynamics that all of the new characters have been bringing to the series! I finally went back and read the novella that came out after the first three books, so I went into SECOND SHOT WITH #76 super excited for what came next...and eager to see what was going to happen between Cory and Ande!
I absolutely loved the romance part of SECOND SHOT WITH #76--Ande and Cory had amazing chemistry and I loved their banter and dynamics! I really liked Cory, and loved learning about his family, and it was great to see that the fact that he was one of the few Black players in the NHL was addressed in the storyline and I liked that the fact that Cory and Ande are a biracial couple (just like Cory's own parents are) was addressed in the story, too! As for Ande, I also enjoyed her as a character, and really loved how we saw her open up to the other hockey ladies and her friendship with her boss, Trevor, too. :)
So, all in all, I loved the romance in this one, but I have to admit that I wasn't a big fan of one of the major plot points in the drama part of the romance. It was just a bit too much for me, and went on for a little too long. I was glad that it didn't drag out too long once the big dramatic moment happened though. Other than disliking the major drama, I did really enjoy it though, and I'm very excited to see more of Cory and Ande in future books!
Overall, I thought that SECOND SHOT WITH #76 was great! Cory and Ande were wonderful characters and it was a pleasure to see them find love, and to see how they fit into the Florida Fury family. I loved their banter and definitely enjoyed the steam, too! It's not my fave, but is definitely a welcome addition to the Hockey Hotties series! Super excited for Kane and Jana's story next! ;)
I fell in love reading Sneaking Around with #34!! I loved the love story, I loved the connection between the teammates and their significant others. So I walked into this one with those same expectations. Unfortunately, it fell short in that category. From the start, I loved that we’re walking in after a sexual connection has already formed between Corey and Ande. And now it’s time for him to fight for their second chance. Everything was lining up in all the right ways! But then that plot twist came around. I’m all for a good juicy plot twist. But not this one. Not even a little bit. I didn’t like it when it happened. I didn’t like it when it was resolved. Corey and Ande, as characters, deserved more than that. And, I feel like the other characters responded out of character as well. What I absolutely did love, is the continuation of the stories of past characters. I’m telling you, I just wanted more of that, and less of the nonsense. I was really excited about this one after all the build up for Corey and Ande during the last one. But I struggled to get attached. I even considered halting reading altogether. And that broke my heart. That plot twist really put a damper on things. The best thing that came out of this though, is the set up for Kane and Jana. Though, after finishing this…I’m not as fond of Jane either.
My Favorite Quotes: • “Ande, I’ll take you any way I can get you.” • “That dip in the back of your dress is making my imagination go wild.” • “I’m not a stranger. You know my damn d!ck size.” • “It’s with you, Ande. My mind is always on you lately.” • “How do you fend off all these women, Cory Freeman?” “Easy. I only have eyes for one.” • “You taste exactly how I remember”
4/10 Dirty Birdy 5/10 Second Chance 8/10 Sports Romance
Cory thought his fling with Ande had created a strong connection. But when more than one attempt to reach her went unanswered, he did everything he could to get her out of his mind. Then he runs into her on his home turf and suddenly he's seeing a second chance at wooing the only woman he's ever felt that connection with.
Ande too felt that connection, but when she saw the tabloid headlines and they were all about Cory's numerous hookups, she knew she had to keep away from him to prevent another heartbreak. But when face to face with him on his home turf, will she really be able to resist his sweet charm? Perhaps a little plan to deal with the player (on and off the ice) is in store...
Cory is a sweetheart. Reformed players are some of my favorite kinds of heroes, but only if they are actually reformed. Cory definitely reformed himself and I loved him for it. He was so sweet and determined to keep building on his and Ande's connection. Ande on the other hand, meh, I didn't like her or the little plot twist tbh. Her plan kept me from feeling a strong connection to her the way I did to Cory, and honestly, I wanted someone better for him. These two are definitely not my favorite Piper Rayne couple, but the story itself is hot and fun, and it made me even more impatient for Kane's story, which cannot come soon enough!
ARC provided by Valentine PR for an honest review. Ebook also purchased through Amazon.
I was looking forward to this one since first learning of Cory and Ande's summer fling. Especially with the way the last book ended, basically leaving us hanging when it came to Ande's current relationship!!!
Cory and Anne met in the Summer at his teammate's wedding. Ande was at the same location as the wedding with some friends for a little getaway when she met Ande. There was instant chemistry. the two of them spent to the week together and when their time was up, they parted ways and went back to their homes which were different state. Cory never forgot about Ande or the week they spent together. So when he runs into her he is shocked, not only to see her but to learn that she moved to Florida. and then the biggest shock of all, she has a boyfriend. Cory isn't one to want to break up a couple but what he feels for Ande is nothing has felt before. Plus there's a little something off about their relationship. Cory wants to get to know Ande and maybe after spending more time together as friends, things could change between them. There is no doubt that and is attracted to Cory, she likes him and the time she spent with him. But major trust issues she is not sure dating a professional hockey player who is also known tone a payer off the ice as well, is a good idea. Can she trust that Cory's feelings former are real and that he is not the player he once was.
I really loved Cory. I think he truly had feelings for Ande and wanted to get to know her better and have a real relationship. He may have had a reputation but with Ande back in his life he wanted to prove that those days were over.
The twist to this whole story is one that I knew would completely blow up in Ande's face, but that really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. I was not a big fan of hers for reasons I cannot say. I did like them together butter me the ending, when the truth is finally revealed is where I had some issues. It all had to do with the forgiveness and who was the one asking for it. I cannot go into detail without giving things away but I just felt like that part of the story was wrong. It just didn't sit well with me. I really enjoyed this book. But the next book is the one I am really looking forward to. Kane and Jana are next and I cannot wait.
I loved Cory and Ande in Tropical Hat Trick. They were fun and I loved how their story began and fun little plot twist of her moving to Florida. I was ready for their second chance. But I am not sure how I liked how it played out. In #34 I was confused by Cory, it was almost like he was a different guy and I wasn’t sure I liked him. So I was very eager to get to the bottom of him in #76. I did get the story and it felt weak. But I did like him. And I liked Ande. Her relationship with her boss was fun and cute. I enjoyed them a lot. But the plot twist early on I saw coming from a mile away; I didn’t like it then and I didn’t like it when it hit. Also, I felt that the grovel happened by the wrong person. One was willing to give up and walk away and the other was willing to fight and grovel and it was all backasswards. I guess I respected the feelings and thoughts behind why but the one that should have fought and groveled didn’t and that rubbed me wrong. All that to say that I did enjoy this one (although not as much as the others). I did enjoy Cory and Ande when they were together. They were cute and sweet and Cory had some pretty swoony moments that made me love him even more. And don’t even get me started on how much I love Trevor! I wouldn’t mind getting his story . . . .
5 Star review Second Shot With #76 (Hockey Hotties #5) by Piper Rayne
AUDIO REVIEW: This is the fifth book in the latest series from Piper Rayne. Second Shot With #76 and was a fantastic addition to Piper Rayne’s latest series. This second chance story ticked all the boxes for me and I was hooked from the first word until the last. I enjoy second chance stories and this was a wonderful story about Cory and Ande. Being a member of the Florida Fury, Cory is a successful player and a man I fell for hard and fast. A holiday fling with Ande, Cory never expected to see her again once he left their island paradise. Narrated by new to my narrator Chance Smolders and Vanessa Edwin who were easy to listen to and did a wonderful job bringing the story to life. They certinly did justice to the story that Piper Rayne wove. However fate has a way of playing with people and when Cory learns she has moved to town for a job opportunity he is convinced it was meant to be. Although tempted Ande is determined that their relationship is in the past. Can Cory convince her to give him a chance? The road they travel was rocky, full of twists and turns and of course interference from his teammates. There were moments where I wanted to shake sense into both of them but it made for an entertaining read. I loved this story and cannot wait to see what Piper Rayne has in store for this addictive series.
This is the story of Cory and Ande. It’s a sloooow burn romance.
The couple had a fling during holidays, then got together after a few months and Cory was really into her. I liked Cory; he was honest and attentive and understanding. I can’t say I liked Ande. Or her decisions. Or her family.
Okay, if you haven’t noticed by now this reviewer is obsessed with everything Piper Rayne related. There isn’t a series that I haven’t read that I haven’t completely fallen head over heel over.
So this Hockey Hotties is another direction for Piper Rayne. You still get your hilariously romantic, full of steam romcom, but there is a depth in this series that is so full of angst. The Hockey Men have to work for it, they work hard, they play hard and they love hard…and Cory Freeman is yet another man in this team of heroes that finds his woman and does everything humanly possible to make it happen.
His dedication, his tenacity, his ability to forge ahead even though a favorable outcome is not necessarily guaranteed makes him such an endearing man. He is a gentleman, he is powerful and most of all he has heart. I absolutely fell for him hard. To be so young and to know who you want and to go full steam ahead is a thing of beauty. Now the question remains…will he be successful?
Ande, she is a beauty. An understated beauty that has been challenged in love. She has had to put herself back together after some hurtful relationships. Now, if that isn’t a woman you want to root for; a woman that deserves a happily ever after then I don’t know who is? Ande has to fight the most formidable adversary in this book…herself. And she is so cautious that she may just lose the opportunity of a lifetime with the real deal love.
Piper Rayne knows how to captivate my attention. Piper Rayne is amazing and I will always pick up their books because I absolutely love their writing style, they get me, it’s like they know how to get into my heart and make it grow even more in love with all of their heroes and heroines. Cory really did steal my heart!
What’s better than reading a book written by Piper Rayne? Listening to one while it’s being fabulously narrated by Vanessa Edwin and Chance Smolders!! Cory and Ande are my new favorite couple of this series. Their story is filled with smoldering chemistry, a heroine that is surprised to be in the same city as her tropical vacation fling and considering reigniting the fun they had that week. The only problem is, that Ande’s not a fan of the “player” status that’s attached with Cory and she’s not sure her heart can handle being broken again based on her previous relationship.
But Cory is out to prove that they can have it if she’ll give him the chance! This man is working towards being on the starting line for the Florida Fury but it’s not going to be easy because the man he’d have to replace is at the top of his game… so Cory contributes to some key moments knowing that one day, his dreams will come true. In the meantime, he’s determined to make Ande see that they can have their forever… except there’s someone from his past that may thwart his relationship goals.
Both Vanessa and Chance do a wonderful job of bringing to life this story and these characters. I could feel all the emotions that were happening with each and every scene. Especially when Cory is with his teammates and all their ribbing and antics! I love how the other wives and girlfriends bring Ande into their fold and including her in their solid friendships and how they love spending time with each other. I found myself laughing so much with the sassiness of all these characters and the wonderful words of two of my favorite authors, Piper Rayne!
This is a fabulous addition to this series and I’m fully invested with what’s going to happen in the next book because there’s going to be some serious fireworks shooting off!
Well, this had a different feel to the rest. This book had more angst than I’m used to from Piper Rayne, but it was not a bad thing. I could not put it down and read it in one sitting! It just showcased their versatile writing styles. Ande has major trust issues, I desperately wanted to shout at her many times in this book. Cory well, he became the typical professional athlete playboy after losing touch with Ande. There was a massive plot twist which nearly made me put the book in the freezer until I could face it again, but I persevered and forged ahead. I really liked Cory, and was annoyed by Ande and her actions, but to pluck such feelings from me about a character highlights the great writing and story telling from Piper Rayne. We are exposed to the rest of the Florida Fury’s which always guarantees hilarity. However, I did have a few welling of tears during this read. Looking forward to Kane and Jana!
Ande and Cory met on vacation and had a fling. From that moment there was a connection between them but nothing happened after the vacation was over….that is until their paths cross again.
I loved Cory. He is sweet, caring, protective, a great friend. Though, he did make some questionable decisions and that gave him a playboy image when it came to the sport. You can tell from the beginning that isn’t who he truly is. On a side note, I am all for the bromance that is going on between Warner, Cory, and Kane! Plus the OG hockey hotties. Ande…I understood where she was coming from and her fears, however, her sister..that is a whole different story (though I’m kind of hoping that there is some Redemption for York). Ande hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to relationships or just people in her life in general. She isn’t going to trust someone easy, especially someone with Cory’s reputation. Though, Cory worked hard to prove to her that isn’t who he is and that he truly only has eyes for her.
There is chemistry between Cory and Ande and I loved seeing things progress and Ande really start to give into their connection more and more. Even though she knew that she was keeping something from him and that could completely ruin everything that they two have them have built together.
I can’t wait for more of this group and I am excited for more of Kane and Jana!
If you’re looking for a second chance, sports romance this is one to check out.
I first read about Cory and Ande in an anthology that is now a novella call Tropical Hat Trick. I loved their meet cute and how they connected so well in that book. But things happen on vacation that can’t go back into real life when you return to it so I’m thrilled that this book was written. Piper Rayne have made me a lifetime fan of anything they write. Cory and Ande certainly have a journey like none of their friends. I adore Ande. She is a woman who has had to endure so much in her life and keeps moving on. She has had a previous relationship where he cheated on her and therefore she wants nothing to do with a high profile boyfriend. She gets into a situation that is not all her own making and her resolve wanes. Problem is how to untangle what has now become right knots. Cory is young and living a life he never dreamed of. Professional hockey for a guy like him is rare. He feels like he has to live this life to the fullest but his reputation may hinder what his heart desires. I loved seeing his teammates again and the horrendous advice they give him that made me shake my head. But his teammates sometimes make sense in a way that may not seem the obvious choice. I love that Cory was included in this series. His and Ande’s story made me think about certain things in ways I hadn’t before.
Their first impressions led to a vacation fling. But, living hundreds of miles apart, their relationship ended when their week in the sun and sand was over. Unable to get Ande out of his mind after she doesn’t return his calls or texts, Cory finds himself in the role of a player with different women in different cities all up for a bit of fun. But, when fate has Ande and Cory meeting at the grocery store in his hometown, he knows it’s time to put his reputation in the past and try to make a future with Ande. But, can Ande truly give Cory a second chance when everyone she has ever loved or trusted ended up walking away?
Piper Rayne, you two are devious! No idea how you all thought this one up, but readers, hang on to your hats because this is a bumpy ride for Cory and Ande! I love how genuine Cory is with Ande. Once he has his second chance with her, he really is all in, but willing to goat her speed. He is a real sweetheart with his fans as well. Ande is also a great character, and dealing with some crazy that you’ll have to read the book to learn more about. She’s a tough cookie, but definitely fragile when it comes to trust and relationships of any kind.
This book was a lot of fun, and I really loved seeing all of the guys and couples offering up advice as Cory tries to win Ande over. Ande’s friend Trevor is also a real gem! And, OMG, the buildup for the final book, which will be Kane and Jana . . . AHHHHH! I can’t wait. If you haven’t jumped into the Hockey Hotties series yet, what are you waiting for?! 4.5 stars!
I was totally IN LOVE with Ande and Cory's story. Honestly, it's really hard for Piper Rayne to not deliver with these Hockey Hotties. Cory was a fantastic character. Cory is a rookie on the FL hockey team and while he hasn't seen a lot of action on the ice, he saw nonstop action off the ice... if you know what I mean. Because of this, the boy was always in the tabloids and because of this that cost him some time with Ande. Ande has been hurt before and because of this, she's timid and not too sure about Cory. There's a major twist, that I'll leave out because no one likes a spoil sport, but it gave me anxiety attacks. I wish there would have been a bit more closure between the sisters, I wanted some type of a real resolution... I mean, what happens with the relationship? Is there one or is it over between them? I'm left a bit curious there.
Otherwise, I'm beyond giddy to get Kane's story. I felt like we got totally teased with him this entire audiobook. Now, the narration by Vanessa Edwin and Chance Smolders was fabulous! Edwin really brought Ande's personality to life. She was able to show her unsure mind and when she was all in. She was a fun character. Smolders, which I don't think I've heard narrate previously, was great. He really fit Cory's fun and upbeat personality. He has a pleasant voice and I just loved hearing him fall for Ande. I'd happily continue to listen to either or both od these narrators again.
This is the fifth book of the "Hockey Hotties" series by Piper Rayne and I really liked it.
Cory was a really nice character. Even so that in previous books he looked like the proper playboy and sleeping around with women, the minute he saw Ande again, he stopped being that guy. All through the book he had eyes only for her and he went above and beyond to show it. I think that he fell a little bit in love with Ande when they first met, but he definately fell hard when they saw each other again.
Ande was a cute heroine. She was afraid to trust Cory and I get from where she was coming from. She did said, she has trust issues and even thought that she tried to resist Cory, she still fell in love with him. And he showed her soo many times how good will it be between them.
One thing is for sure. I really loved both characters, but I don't have any sympathy at all towards Ande's sister. You will know the reason for it when you read the book.
P.S. Piper Rayne gave us a lot of glimpses about Kane and Jana and now I am more than excited to read their book 😍😍😍.
A vacation fling that turns into something more? Yes please! 🌴✈️💕 The chemistry was sizzling, the banter was fun, and the emotional depth hit just right. #76 and his leading lady had me fully invested — even if I wanted just a little more at the end. 😅⏳
Loved it, even if the ending kind of sprinted like it was on a breakaway! 🏃♂️💨🥅
AUDIO REVIEW This is the fifth book in the Hockey Hotties Series and this second chance at love ticked all my boxes and Cory and Ande’s journey is also the perfect addition to this wonderful series. What is it about hockey players that sends our ovaries into overdrive, well I can tell you this, I fell hard and fast for Florida Fury player Cory and I’m sure you will too….. After reading this book I was excited to see how Chance Summers and Vanessa Edwin would interpret one of my all time favourite couples, well all I’m going to say is they did a fantastic job bringing Cory and Ande’s wonderful journey to life. They were spot on with all the pushing and pulling, all the banter and more importantly all the emotions. It was only meant to be a holiday fling, it was never meant to be more than a fling in paradise but fate seems intent on pushing this couple together so when Cory finds ot Ande is in town for a new job, he decides to pursue her. Problem is Ande still believes it was only a fling and that a high profile player would have no room for her so can Cory convince her otherwise …one click and find out. This talented writing duo never disappoint and once again they have given us a book that will captivate throughout the read and stay with us long after the final words have been read. The characters have chemistry and are easy to relate to , the banter is witty and I’m sure you will find plenty to giggle at but it was the determination and believing in a future from Cory that took this book to another level. I loved everything about this book and I can’t wait for what’s next from the players of the Florida Fury.
love these hockey hotties and always look forward to a visit with the players….and It would seem that a player is exactly what Cory had become….and not just on the ice! As is to be expected there were some lovely cute moments with this couple but also some frustrating and downright annoying ones too!! Not my favourite but still enjoyable and looking forward to being offside with #55 next🧐😉
Cory and Ande met on holiday and had a fling that was hot and heavy. Coming back into the real world, Ande is still reeling from the bad break up that happened before her holiday and sees her time with Cory as just a fling. When Cory can't get Ande to return his calls he tries to drown his rejection in other women. When they end up living in the same city, Cory decides he'll win Ande over. Can the hurts Ande has had in the past be overcome? When they someone in Cory's life creates chaos can they move past her and see what they have together? This was another Piper Rayne read that hooked me and made me long for more. More than a five star read that's for sure!
I’ve been waiting for this book so long and it served SOO GOOOOOOOOD. when i read the prequel book i wasn’t quite convinced about Cory and Ande relationship because WHY THE HELL WOULD HE BE SLEEPING WITH OTHER GIRLS AND NOT WAIT FOR HER FOREVER LIKE A REAL MAN?!!?!! surprisingly the book has shocked me for good i swear i didn’t expect for their story to get me as hard as it did. Cory was SUCH A GENTLEMAN (i need something like this in my life plss), it was so cute to see how he interacted with little guys who saw him as an example, that really warmed my heart. There is only one thing i didn’t like about this book, but i guess it was necessary for the book plot?, idk really, but i hate ande’s sister so so much, like okay i get it she has problem but why such a strong and funny character as Ande was so easy to manipulate come on i don’t believe that for one moment
