Vera Hastings resents her designation as an Omega and has spent most of her life fighting against the things that come along with it. After multiple encounters with Alphas that just want to take advantage of her, she’s almost given up on her biological need to bond.
That is, until fate steps in and Vera is traded to the Vegas Mystics female soccer team. After meeting the team's PR manager and their pack, Vera's interest is piqued. Can Vera work past her loathing of her designation, her mistrust of Alphas and consider joining a pack?
Although this pack is unique and unlike any other Vera has ever met, they have their own issues when it comes to claiming an Omega. Will they be able to come together and is Vera the Omega they need in order to thrive?
This book is an omegaverse reverse harem that contains explicit content including MM content, non-binary representation and group activities.
Sarah Blue is a USA Today best-selling author of paranormal, omegaverse, and contemporary romance. When she isn’t writing you can find her nose buried in a book or picking up a new craft she probably won't finish. She lives in Maryland with her husband, children, and two cats.
We first meet Vera, who's relocating to Vegas to join a woman's soccer club. Having had bad experiences with Alpha's in the past, meeting the club's PR manager Gus, will provide her with an awakening she never believed she wanted for herself.
As this is an Omegaverse poly romance, there are many lovers in this mix. Fortunately, the dynamics were easy to follow:
🤍Vera ~ a vulnerable omega, weary of Alphas. Totally swept off her feet by this Vegas Pack.
🤍Gus ~ non-binary, the instigator of this courtship to woo Vera into joining their pack.
🤍Sasha ~ the oldest Alpha, Russian, gruff and sexy AF.
🤍Orson ~ bisexual Daddy Bear in a bonded relationship with Emory.
🤍Emory ~ a naughty beta and a complete sweetheart.
🤍Diego ~ sexy nerd Alpha, who's all man in the bedroom.
This Vegas Pack are content living together and sharing their lives as a unit. Meeting Vera just reconfirms the fact that they are missing the ideal Omega to complete their family.
What I appreciated about this story was the variety of characters and how effortlessly it worked. With all the different idiosyncrasies, kinks and levels of horniness, I enjoyed the experience of one on one time between the main character Vera and all her potential harem members.
Modern, non-conforming and erotic, Vera and The Vegas V was a little too perfect in parts and could have been more edgier. As this is the first book in a duet, it ends in a cliffhanger. These two authors are certainly ones to watch!!
This book has so much that makes it hugely marketable, especially with fans of Lola/Baby, Pack Darling, Good Girl, and even more of the current RH omegaverse reads that are getting all the buzz.
👍 Alphas who don't let their alpha-ness get in the way of being good people 👍 A wounded FMC who is overcoming trauma to create the life that she deserves 👍 And, what I loved the most, was that the authors were trying to include non-binary representation. Outside of Suki Williams and Kaye Draper, I feel like RH is still very limited to characters who identify as simply M or F, and I LOVE that this book was trying to break that mold.
The bottom line for me is that this is just, right now, not the book for me. It's definitely the book for a lot of people right this very minute, but my own preferences are making it too hard for me to dig in and really get lost in this world.
For me, editing quality and writing style are HUGE factors in whether I can get immersed in a book. Editing errors are easier for me to look past because I know not everyone has the contacts or budget to get an editor for their first novel, but the writing style is something I can't just brush aside. There is SO MUCH POTENTIAL in this book, but it needs a workover to get rid of some of the "telling" and make some of the character's actions and emotional reactions smoother.
I'm not trying to discourage others from reading it; that's just my personal experience. If the book is ever revised, I would happily be first in line to try to dig back into it! I highly encourage readers to "look inside" so that you can see if more than just the ideas are your kind of read.
ARC provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review.
Vera and the Vegas V is the perfect book for fans of Pack Darling and Baby + the Late Night Howlers and Lola & the Millioners.
This omegaverse story had a very sweet and contemporary vibe that made the whole thing very refreshing and easy to lose yourself into. I couldn’t put this book down and ended up reading it in less than a day.
The story follows Vera, a profesional soccer player omega, who joins a new team in Las Vegas, and meets the perfect pack for her along the way.
This is a medium-fast burn story, so relationships happen pretty quickly. But it worked because each relationship felt unique and the pacing and development was different for each of them. So it didn’t feel too fast at all, and I found myself caring about the characters and their relationships.
The diversity in omegaverse stories is usually excellent but I feel like Vera and the Vegas V took it a step further and gave us new things to enjoy. Especially when it came to Gus, a non-binary Alpha, who was assigned female at birth, but didn’t identify as male or female.
Gus was sweet, charming, funny… they were absolutely perfect, and their connection with Vera felt the most real and based on more than just physical attraction. It was such a nice surprise to find out that in this sweetverse, Alphas who are assigned female at birth have a retractable member that comes from the clitoris when they are aroused. I found it fascinating, and reminded me of the female alpha lock from Bad Alpha. One of the things I love the most about omegaverse is how each author creates their own rules, it’s fascinating and you never know which interpretation you’re reading next.
It may be weird for some readers, but I personally loved Gus and everything about them.
Then we got Orson and Emory. They are an Alpha/Beta MM established couple within the pack. And they were hot af, my friends. Orson with his mustache and motorcycle and big hands… just ugh yes daddy. And Em being described as the most attractive man Vera had ever seen. Yes, thank you. May I get some more of that incredible hot sandwich?
I loved the fact that we got a hot nerd in the pack!!! He was good with computers (*tries and fails to make sexy eyebrows at you*), wore thick-rimmed black glasses and had secretly hot abs and the biggest dong and knot in the history of omegaverse. What else can you ask for??? Diego was also Hispanic and he called Vera his amorcito, which was fucking cute. They were really sweet together and their nerd jokes were great. Also, I love my girl Vera, she went for the biggest knot in the pack for her first time. She was a Go Big or Go Home type of girl and I respected that. ✊🏻
Then there’s Sacha. *sighs in horny* Older, Russian, covered in tattoos, with a tragic and mysterious (possibly violent) past. Someone who has his life in order, who has given up on love, who believes doesn't deserve a second chance… I was sold. It’s hard to pick a favorite but I’m pretty sure he was mine, closely seconded by Orson and Gus.
Be aware there’s a genius evil cliffhanger at the end and you’ll need the next book more than your next breath but it’ll be amazing and you’ll love every second of it.
I was so excited when I found out this book featured a nonbinary character! And the reviews had me expecting a lola and the millionares style read. But I think the only connection to LatM was the "sweet" style alphas. The writing style was just really lacking. I would have liked a better/more drawn out scene with the coach at the start, with more back story. but everything just moves so fucking fast, including our introduction to the love interests.
And our introduction to Gus left a bad taste in my mouth. It started off great though. When they meet, Gus is masc presenting, with a typically male name, so of course our main character would use male pronouns. Gus gently corrects, and explains they swap between masc and fem presenting and go by they/them pronouns. Our main girl apologizes and starts using the correct pronouns. A beautiful interaction right? I was living. It was very well handled...except that after that our main character keeps lamenting about how she misgendered them. Shes beating herself up, and keeps thinking "I can't believe I did that, how awful." She keeps bringing it up, and at the end of the chapter she leaves off with "Its the least I can do after misgendering Gus." Like GURL, move the FUCK on. Not a big issue... but it just really annoyed me. It made me feel like these authors were pandering. The entire situation would have felt normal and like a breath of fresh air If they had just ended the interaction with the apology, and continued with the correct pronouns. But instead, I felt like they slapped a flashing neon sign over her with "I'm an Ally, not transphobic. NOT TRANSPHOBIC" all the while the authors are whispering to you "See how bad she feels? she feels SO bad. shes the best ally that ever allied." Just chill guys. The goal is to normalize, and they for sure overshot.
Again, not the worst sin ever, but annoying enough to be worth the rant.
The intros to the guys was just boom boom boom, one after the other after the other all in a row. and their all fucking gorgeous of course, and they all instantly get along and are attracted to each other and I just really lost interest after meeting them all. It was so clunky and felt forced/fake. I never really got dragged into the story. I was always hyper aware that I was reading about these characters in a story, instead of being sucked in and experiencing and seeing the world/story.
A few examples of scenes that felt clunky and forced:
“Seat taken darlin’?” I think my brain fucking gave out cause I reply with “Yeah, this isn’t Forrest Gump.” Smooth Vera, real fucking smooth. I give him a shy smile and he takes his seat next to me while grabbing his stomach with laughter.
Was that supposed to be a joke? What does that even mean? why the hell is he belly laughing?
his hands are massive. They basically engulf my small hand. You know what they say about men with large hands. Jesus, am I really having sexual thoughts about an Alpha right now? I made a promise to myself to never get involved with an Alpha. It seems like my traitor of a body doesn’t agree.
"my traitor body" *Puke* Gurl, its 9% in and she's already second guessing her "fear of alphas" with no reasoning/character development other than "omg hes hawt".
“Your dress is absolutely amazing, you’ll have to let me go shopping with you sometime,” he tells me with a look of admiration. I'm instantly interested in befriending this outgoing man. I give him a huge smile. “I would love that. I really don’t have much fashion sense,” I tell him with a slight frown. He scoffs. “Your dress says differently, my gorgeous new friend.
She just met this man. He sat down in the lap of someone she was talking to, made out with him, then turned to complement her dress and asks her to go shopping with him. WHAT? insta friends is JUST as bad as insta love. Who talks like that? Who acts like that? Fake made up people, thats who.
The blurb clearly states that Vera has a 'mistrust of Alphas', however, at 19% she's already falling all over herself for these new alphas (and their beta) that she met 2 seconds ago because they are hot and they smell nice. Her body is a traitor and has already started betraying her.... DURING THEIR FIRST FREAKING MEETING!!!!
Girl.... no. Just no. Look, can I understand attraction? Yes, absolutely. But if you have spent your whole life hating your designation and most of it despising and mistrusting alphas, I'm going to need more drama and especially time before you are suddenly in lust and can't think over a few handsome/beautiful faces.
The problem with binge reading a genre, is that they start being compared to each other and ultimately one is the least liked. For me its this one. There’s no build up, within the first few chapters Vera has met her pack and its insta love all round. Its quick, there’s plenty of sex and a mystery that everyone is happy to toss on the backburner. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters. They were all open with each other, there was no secrets, but it felt like they were reading lines from a script. Dark themes mentioned but none of it connected emotionally. I found their first argument annoying, as well as the way she suffered through her heat. I was more interested in whether the dads escape the mother and that toxic twat. The only new thing was Gus and their retractable penis. Don’t think I’ll be reading the next one, but just in case.

This was super cute, and reminded me a lot of Lola and the Millionaires, which I adore. A very sweet, smutty, fast read that was like candy for the heart.
So this isn’t my first rodeo in omegaverse RH. Has all the familiar elements: a resistant omega, doting and overprotective alphas, balancing betas. One of the alphas was born female but identifies as non-binary which I appreciate since I’ve never seen that before. The thing that has me debating between three and four stars is the fact that I’m having serious deja vu. There’s been several scenes that are extremely similar to other books I’ve read in the genre. I’m not talking tropes I’m talking like the same scenes. Which isn’t a bad thing but just feels like it’s something I’ve already seen before but done better. I also am not a huge fan of the writing style. The guys are so sweet and amazing though and I truly am enjoying this. Def gonna start part 2.
Sarah Blue and Ashley Bennett have absolutely came into the Omegaverse world like a wrecking ball with this debut! They have taken the best things about Omegaverse and said hold my beer! They have busted down walls that I didn’t know needed to be torn down! I loved this book and could not stop reading it!
Vera is our FMC who is not happy about being an omega and has pushed down her own walls to become a professional soccer player as an omega. She has an altercation with her coach and chooses to move to Vegas to join their soccer team. It’s like night and day compared to her old team. She is introduced to Gus from the airport. I loved the story of Gus and it was my first time reading about a non-binary character. Getting used to them/they was not as confusing as imagined and the story flowed smoothly. I also was quite surprised that they went there…. Gus was born a female alpha but is now non-binary alpha but has a member that arises when aroused and is used during intercourse for penetration. Very well done with that description and making it make sense to us the readers. Vera is over time introduced to Gus’ pack. She has had horrible experiences with Alphas but the more she is around this pack the more she can see herself being a part of it. We have Orson(Alpha) and Emory(Beta) that are a bonded MM couple, Diego(Alpha), Gus(Alpha) and Sache(Alpha). They all are great characters and bring a lot to this pack. This book will take you on Vera’s journey of her self worth and her becoming a part of a very well diverse pack. She also has to deal with a stalker since arriving in Vegas which will lead us into the next book of this series.
I really wanted to like this book, and it has a lot of potential, but I think it needs some editing to make it shine. My issues were the same as many others - the FMC would say/think something about herself and then immediately do something that contradicts it. For example, she says she’s scared of alphas, but all of her actions belie that. She falls into the pack so easily, that there’s no real struggle or conflict in the plot. A plot must have a conflict, but here the conflict is supposedly her reticence to be in a pack, but she actually has no issue with it.
There’s a lot of telling instead of showing, and the things that are shown are in opposition to the things we’ve been told. Characters swear they’re going to keep their distance but one hour later they’re going at it like bunnies.
I think if the author rearranged a few events and tweaked some of the content, it would feel like more than insta-love/lust.
I like how the authors tried to be inclusive and diverse, but the speech that Gus gives the FMC just didn’t flow. I don’t know if they poke with people who are non gender to get an idea of how they normally handle these situations, but if not, that might be a good place to start. I’m also not sure how I feel about one of the beta male character. For a guy who’s never been into females to suddenly fall all over her - it kind of makes my nose crinkle.
I think the plot picks up toward the end, but I also think the “bad guy” is pretty obvious - but maybe I’m wrong. I also think there should be more about her career as a pro athlete; it’s barely an afterthought. They also missed some opportunities for some inner turmoil/plot conflict that would have been natural with her involved with the owner of the team. In real life, you know someone would have had something to say.
I’ll probably read the next one, but I’m hoping the authors take a little more care with the editing and get some of the issues worked out.
If you don’t care about any of that and just like sweet omegaverse, then this would be good for you. It does have MM, A nongendered character (born female) with extra attachments, and group times.
I didn't really like the writing style for VERA AND THE VEGAS V and I couldn't get into the story, it was just boring and not grabbing my attention. I'm new to trying out omegaverse so maybe it's just not for me, but it was definitely annoying the way we would be told something about a character's personality and then they'd immediately do the opposite. For instance, Vera practically gave me whiplash with how quickly she changed between being nervous and leery around Alphas to being attracted and kissing them. Just not the book for me.
I truly enjoyed Vera and the Vegas V. It's rare in omegaverse to find a pack where everyone actually respects one another and has good relationships. This is SUCH a feel-good read with twists that will keep you on the edge of your toes. I loved how realistic the characters were (#teamorson) but how their relationship as a pack developed so naturally. ALSO can I say how excited I was to see non-binary representation here with correct use of pronouns!?! Heaping five stars from me, great job to the co-authors!
What a sexy, charming addition to the world of Omegaverse! Vera and the Vegas V follows an omega pro soccer player to meet the amazing individuals who will become her new pack. Each member of the pack was well-drawn, although Sorcha was my favorite. Sexy, greying, growling Russians are my thing, apparently? This book was charming and I read it in one day. The cliffhanger wasn't terrible, and so I can still give this one: 10/10 would read the next! I received an ARC for an honest review.
*sigh* I should have just stuck with my "not interested" that I flagged this as back in February. I'm having a hard time finding something that peaks my interest, and this keeps popping up everywhere. I decided to give it a shot, but I'm dnfing at the end of Chapter 2.
Like other reviewers have said, I can see the potential here. It definitely has sweet omegaverse vibes. However, I just can't with Vera and the writing style. It's WAY too fast. By Chapter 2, we've already met, insta-lusted, kissed, and gotten feelings for a pack that she literally just met, like 20 minutes ago. But Vera is supposed to be this traumatized, alphas-are-scary type of person... even though, she knows MANY good alphas, including her parents, BFF's pack, and little old couple on the plane? At one point she even says, regarding the love-interest pack, "no alpha has ever been nice to me" and "no alpha has ever been honest with me". Ahem. See sentence beforehand.
Plus, Vera is riddled with traitorous body syndrome which I cannot stand, especially since we got it 4 times in a row while meeting this pack.
I wish I liked this more, because I love sweet omegaverse, and I like the idea of a nonbinary pack member. Alas, the writing style just ain't it.
BRB, currently obsessed with Vera and her pack. They are all so sweet and a tiny bit fragile that it makes me wanna bundle them up and fuss over all of them. It has a non-binary character which is new for me in romance books and I find that I really enjoyed the representation. This ends on a tiny cliffhanger but not MAJOR, like you can stop here but the suspense of solving this stalker mystery will probably kill you. (BTW, I have SOOO many theories on who it could be)
I feel really bad writing reviews like this and I hate giving less than 4 stars but here we are. Sorry Sarah and Ashley! I think I would give this 3.5 stars. I thought the writing was just mediocre, the story was a bit rushed and the plot was predictable.
Regardless of everything else I base my reviews mostly on writing and it just didn't feel like there was much depth to it. I don't know how to describe it but I didn't feel the emotion in the writing. It's well written in terms of grammar etc but it just didn't hook me.
I find the world of omegaverse both intriguing and horrifying. I tried one or two a while back but the domination and dubious consent was not for me. But then I discovered Kathryn Moon and her Sweet Omegaverse series. I’ve since discovered I do like the world of omegaverse…when the characters are sweet and loving.
Vera and the Vegas V fits into that sweet and loving category. I snapped this one up as soon as I saw it.
Vera is an Omega that doesn’t have the best opinion about Alphas (except for her three loving fathers!). She’s a professional soccer player and has just transferred to her new team in Vegas after an incident with her Alpha coach. She meets Gus, a nonbinary member of the team’s PR staff and an Alpha in a pack, and sparks fly between them. She soon meets all the members of the pack (including a sassy, bonded Beta) and almost immediately things start to fall into place.
The relationships between Vera and all the pack move at supersonic speeds. I would have preferred a more gradual progression, as I’m missing some character and emotional development. But Omega and Alpha magic (or hormones!) cannot be denied so Vera and the pack quickly form both a sexual and emotional connection.
The storyline was well paced and I enjoyed the dialogue/banter a ton. The chemistry and sex scenes were seriously on fire but I enjoyed that the emotional aspect of the relationships was not overlooked. My favorite part might have been how Gus was portrayed. I haven’t read any romance novels in recent memory that featured a nonbinary character, so I really loved the inclusion and how well they were written.
A great debut from two new authors and I’m hooked.
If you liked Lola and the Millionaire's or Pack Darling and you're looking for more.... This is where you will get your fix. Vera is an omega who just doesn't want to conform to the norms. She decided that she will be a professional sports star, which is not only rare for woman, but obviously even more so for omegas.
After some iffy iffy she has to move teams and finds herself in Vegas. Where she first meets Gus. They are so easy to fall in love with and I certainly did. Right along with Vera. After Gus, you get introduced to the rest of their pack and each member has something going for them.
The relationships all grow at their own pace, but that does not mean there isn't any spice. NOT AT ALL. Lot's of steam to keep a bad girl happy and a good girl naughty.
A quirky storyline and I can't wait to see what happens next.
The best thing I can say about this book is that it tried. It really really tried. I think this is a debut effort? In which case, I think the potential is definitely there but not quite achieved in this book.
I was pretty thrilled to see nb representation, but the pronoun speech felt off and awkward somehow (also, in general you don't need to include "preferred" when sharing pronouns - your pronouns are your pronouns, end of story). And Vera's whole 'woe is me' schtick after fucking up - I guess that's common enough, but how about we normalize *not* doing that? That would be cool.
The characterizations of Vera and the gang feel unbalanced and rushed, while the writing style felt stilted and unnatural. There was so much telling and explaining and exposition shoehorned in at the oddest points, it took me right out of the story and I started skipping just to get to the end - only to be cliffhangered. Not that I guess it matters, because I'm pretty sure I know where this is all heading (although I'm prepared to be pleasantly surprised).
The character development was a bit shallow, the editing was a bit lacking, and the book ended on a terrible cliffhanger, but I enjoyed the world and all the men and would re-read. I look forward to learning more about the FMC Vera's developing harem and who was the one harrassing her throughout this book. I have my suspicions that it's probably . ------ Ratings - completed series: #1 Vera and the Vegas V: Part One (this book): ★★★★☆ #2 Vera and the Vegas V: Part Two: ★★★☆☆
Am I ever going to find a decent Alpha or a pack that I can truly trust?
Another book that's been on my TBR for some time now! I often saw this book being passed around IG in my early days of taking note of the omegaverse genre. I liked the pack dynamic in this one - everyone was a little different and we got some great representation of non-traditional characters.
This pack is just such a breath of fresh air, and I can't wait to see more of their dynamic while they're all together.
The easy, low-drama slide into courting Vera into their pack was made better by the multiple POVs. It was fun watching them update each other on how things progressed with Vera, especially in the early dating days. I do wish we had seen a little more of Vera's career that meant so much to her, and was glad when we got to visit and get to know them a little better!
I'll have to update Gus on tonight's development, her reception of the nest and we'll have to work on pushing her and Diego closer together. We know that Sacha's already quite invested, and I'm willing to bet another $50 that she'll be taking his knot before we know it.
This isn’t the worst Omegaverse story I’ve ever read, but it’s not the best. I’m going to include both books in this review because I feel basically the same about them.
1.) I love that we have a non-binary main character! It’s not common at all in books, but representation is important. I didn’t catch any mistakes when it came to Gus’s pronouns in the book, either. Although I’m not sure about the female alpha anatomy in this book- it’s very different from other omegaverse books I’ve read and… at times it almost feels like a “justification” or “explanation” for why Gus identifies as non-binary. I would have honestly preferred the typical lock when it comes to alpha anatomy because I think it would have allowed for Gus to be NB without making them have to have something for the sex scenes in the book. 2.) I like the pack, but wish we could have gotten to know them better and had better, stronger relationship development. Even though we get some backstory from the characters, it still all feels pretty surface level. 3.) The soccer part doesn’t end up mattering at all which is annoying. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 4.) I am not a fan of the writing style and I think these books could have really benefited from better editing to really help pull together the story.
OmegaVerse and so. So sweet. Very Lola and the millionaires with some baby and the late night howlers thrown in. Nothing we haven’t seen before (besides Gus) but still so good. Love it. On to book two.
The writing was a bit off for me, which is why it didn’t get 4. If this was revised a bit I could definitely see it being even 4.5 stars! If you’re a fan of Lola and the Millionaires this is for you! Similar vibes with them being scared of alphas and such.
5 stars for the Five Vegas! I really enjoyed learning more about Vera and her loves and can’t wait for the next book. A great Omegaverse read about Vera, an Omega, who is traumatized by her past but ready for a new beginning and maybe love. She’s a professional soccer player who loves to Vegas and meets Gus (non-binary they/them) and their pack-three more Alphas and a sweet Beta. You learn lots about the pack and their developing relationship with Vera, while uncovering some secrets and new mysteries yet to be solved along the way. It’s funny, sweet, the banter is great and the steam is off the charts (uncles M/M). Excited to see what’s next in this series.
I love that there is great representation in this novel and that not everyone fits into the cookie cutter stereotypes for this genre. Definitely sweet.
