At least, no other non-elemental dragon has been kept alive past their birth. Sold off by his parents, Kai finally got the money to buy himself out of the guild and put his past behind him. When another job presents itself, however, he has no choice but to accept and travel north.
Forming a tenuous alliance with the princess of Trone and her mentor, Kai embarks on a perilous quest to rescue his brother. Little does he know that plans have already been set in motion, and the night dragon god Tervain awakens.
After being saved by unlikely allies, Kai is forced to change his perception of the world and his place in it. Fighting his inexplicable connection to Tervain and the constant half-truths he is fed, he travels to Porando for answers.
Enjoyable book. The main character's introduction is rather quick but additional background is given as the story goes. The result is a story that quickly gets running, and the involvement with the MC is not spoiled at all. Some parts are a little rushed now and then, but not enough to waste the story. Recommend to anyone who likes dragons and especially dragon pov.
I found this book by accident while browsing Amazon. At the time of writing this commentary it has not a single rating or review. So, I had no idea what to expect but decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. While by no means a masterpiece, when book manages to hold my attentions till the end I tend to rate it with 5 stars (unless something makes me mad) – so 5 stars it is. Characters, plot, and setting are nothing we have not seen many times before, but it was fun read. Description promised story from dragon point of view, and it delivered. My critique is that some plot and character developments were little too quick and worldbuilding could be little more deeper. All in all, fun YA fantasy novel from starting author. I will gladly read second instalment as well.
Novel was entertaining to read and kept me interested throughout, despite that some plot points, conflicts, and character development felt rather expedited. Characters and locales could use more descriptions, though that's only my preference as I like to be able to picture scenes more vividly. Likewise for actions during a conflict; verbs more descriptive than "hit" would go a long way for the mind's eye.
Good read for people who enjoy dragon POV stories. Onto the second installment for me.
