This issue is about how the ruling elite became what they are and how they dominate politics and industry. Generally the control they have on decision making is diminishing because of how little power their common enemy- unions, immigrants, and progressives- currently have. They are also being driven by right wing ideology trying to ride it to where they think it can get them. Most industrialists and elites believe Trump is good for deregulation but bad for the instability it brings to business and society in general. They would much rather silently make tons of money then take a social stance on anything. Most of these people also know each other not from elite, ivy league universities but from their predecessors being the New England boarding schools and their equivalent out west-seems like NE still dominates in terms of where the elite like to send their children to be educated. These are not smarter than average men and women but they have access to each other and common bonds. They all have the same thing (and memories, experiences, and scandals) to protect.
