Draco can think of only one way to outclass his pleat-front-khaki-wearing politician ex, and that’s by making headlines with an obvious upgrade. And who better to upstage the cheating bastard than the Saviour of the World, Harry Potter himself? Sure, Potter is a little rough around the edges in ripped jeans, a rumpled tartan shirt, and a permanent scowl. Draco reckons a haircut and a shave wouldn’t hurt, either. But Potter is also in need of a Healer willing to keep his secrets, and Draco is just the man for the job. It’s a perfectly reasonable exchange. They need only attend a couple parties arm-in-arm, smile nicely for the paparazzi, and tolerate each other long enough to convince everyone they’re smitten. In return, Draco will keep Potter alive and in one piece.
But it isn’t long before Draco realises he might be in over his head, because Potter is ten tonnes of trouble packed into a leather jacket, and seems keen on hurtling himself towards death on the back of a flying motorbike. And that says nothing of Potter’s penchant for fire-breathing beasts and things that bite.
Ah well, at least they’ll have some fun while it lasts. After all, Draco always did like a bit of danger.
Potter chased dragons, Draco chased solutions. Both of them chased death. And wasn’t that just the damndest thing? That it took a former enemy to understand those dark parts of his soul, the places a friend wouldn’t bother to look.
Tropes: – Enemies/rivals to lovers – Opposites attract – Fake dating – Harry/Draco fanfiction
And just like that, I’ve read my first ever Harry Potter fanfiction. I know it’s maybe impossible to believe because I have loved this series with everything in me for about 24 years now, but I just couldn’t get into the world of fanfiction before because I didn't even know where to start. But now here I am and oh my gosh, this was so good. I loved the writing–so witty and lyrical–and the way the characters were portrayed so much. The way their relationship developed from physical to dependency to love was so good and Draco's thoughts about Harry, ugh!!! I am going to be single for the rest of my life!! I wish we got Harry’s POV sometimes as well as maybe a touch more emotional connection but you could feel how much he liked Draco back, nonetheless. I’ll definitely be reading more Harry Potter fanfiction—this was just the beginning!
I love Drarry fics where Draco is good at something, anything. In this one, Draco is a healer, the best healer and changing the way magical medicine work by merging it with muggle medicine. He was cheated on by his boyfriend of 4 years and needed a date for a party, just to pretend he had moved on. Enter Harry and his dragon tamer glory. Very good read, almost zero angst and no insta love.
I almost forgot, minimal mention of Hogwarts houses because they are grown ups. Also, Hermione and Ron are nowhere to be seen, barely a mention here and there. I didn’t miss them though.
Oh, I absolutely adored this story!! 🖤 The author's writing style is so vibrant; it felt like I was right there in the thick of things. I love these versions of Draco and Harry as well. Draco's redemption arc relies a lot upon him wanting it, rather than someone's love inspiring him, and I like that part. Plus, this wild and reckless Harry makes so much sense - I mean, he was heavily influenced by Hagrid, after all - right down to the care of magical creatures and flying motorcycle. 😉 And the spice was ever so nice!
Me gusto.
love the writing and characterization so not surprised i enjoyed this. the lack of yearning and the more casual vibes with little dark emotional stuff made it slightly more of a drag for me BUT it was a cute story and i love them
I am not sure why but this one was not a successful read for me. I felt that the characterization was off and it never really fixed itself. I also was unhappy with the ending.
