A terrible secret. An impossible choice. And a love worth dying for…
After the horrible disaster at the Summerball, Alexis Harper and her allies are running out of time. Not only has the murder messed up all their careful plans, but Alex is also threatened to become the focus of the investigations. In search of the missing pieces in this enigmatic puzzle, she and Darken embark on a perilous journey to an abandoned prison camp deep in the mountains — and make a discovery more shocking than anything they could have imagined. A discovery that, if revealed, will shake the country to its very foundations.
At the same time, the Spider and the Forfeit find themselves at an emotional crossroads. At this point, it's all or nothing. But just as they reluctantly admit their feelings for each other, events force them apart and suddenly Alex is faced with a terrible choice: to run and save her own life or to stay and fight for the truth and the man she loves, even if it may cost her life.
As Alex spins a crazy spider’s trap, one thing soon becomes clear—one way or another, she will end up being kissed by Death…
What to expect:
- Strong, badass heroine - Slowburn romance enemies-to-lovers - Alpha male - Some spicy content and strong language
Just finished the third book of the Trueborn Heirs Series "Kissed by Death". I simply loved it. It was so much fun to read and the end was absolutely satisfying... I wish there was more to come!!! Like in the previous books the characters are lovely and the interaction is funny and intense. The tension throughout the storyline nearly killed me... I couldn't put it down!!! I can totally recomend it.
Kissed by Death was just as amazing as the other books in the series, if not more so. I love the ending. I hope there will be more books in the Trueborn Heirs universe in the future (*fingers-crossed*).
OMG, I feel a book slump coming after this one, it was sooo good. My only complaint is that it had to end. But since it was a very satsifying ending, it's just a minor complaint. Hopefully, there will be more books in this series.
I'm the author guys, so ... biased, of course ;) But I can tell you that writing this book was so much fun! I laughed, I cried, I had chills ... Personally, I love this one most in the entire trilogy. So, give the series a go and let me know what you think!
This series ended up being a lot more YA than I anticipated. There were still a lot of grammatical issues, and the world was never really expanded upon.
(review request submitted by the author for an honest critique)
Kissed by Death by Nina Queen far exceeded my expectations, and the bar was set pretty high after reading By a Thread (book one) and Web of Lies (book 2).
Kissed by Death had suspense, explosions, life and death missions, mic drop moments, pain and torture, and betrayal. Finally, over a long wait, we had Alex and Darken locking lips and other body parts. 😀
These two, in joined or separate scenes, always kept me on the edge of my seat. When Darken made a person wet themself, I laughed because I knew it would happen. I love being right. (Name withheld to avoid spoilers). During the Master’s hissy fit, I could practically see the spit flying out of his mouth and Alex’s shit-eating grin.
Every bit of this story was spectacular, and I can’t wait to read Josepha’s story; the summary is located in “What’s Next.”
Final note: I love Alex’s spider senses and her ability to run 30 miles without breaking a sweat.
This starts straight after the events of the second with the death of the councilman and Alex finds herself being marched underground with an armed escort and she worries that her cover has been blown. Luckily it hasn't but Alex and Darken are still determined to figure out who was behind the attempted kidnapping of Darken's niece and nephew and end up uncovering a major conspiracy.
I have enjoyed reading this series but this one seemed super long and I was bored in places with all the internal dialogue and detailed description of everything the author was throwing out. I did skip entire paragraphs at one point because it was just stuff that didn't interest me. I wanted the bones of it, not the fleshed out parts.
The main thing I wanted was I for them to out the bad guys and get together romantically. It did happen in the end it just took a windy route to get there. I won't go into detail because the author threw a few curve balls in there to throw us off and it would totally spoil it.
This author needs to give this series a good editing. It's a good, cleverly thought out trilogy but it is in need of a good read through so the tiny spelling mistakes and stuff can be erased.
I have loved this trilogy since Book one, Chapter one and even though I'm sad its over, I couldn't be more satisfied with the ending! It was incredible!
As always the author grabbed my complete attention and took me on an adventure which I thoroughly enjoyed. One second I was sighing in relief, the next second my heart was in my throat. And then there were scenes where I melted into a puddle of goo.
I'd say it was a well executed book and my emotional response to the every scene was raw and real because I could really see everything play out in front my eyes just from the narration.
Throughout the book I was tossed into multiple POVs and none of it was confusing. It added more depth to the story and I loved the anticipation building.
I'm definitely re-reading the entire trilogy soon! And I'm 100% never getting tired of the characters. I loved Alex and every time she said 'sugar', I smiled. Can't believe it's over!
This review is actually for the entire series, since the book itself was the 3rd installment of one long book with no standalones (which is a huge minus for me). And the final verdict??? IMO it was very okay, and not really deserving of 3 whole books.. but in order to get to the end it was necessary to plow through the whole thing. So plow I did, for it was entertaining enough. But if one is going for dark fantasy, I'd say the Black Jewel series by Anne Bishop is a lot more immersive and better written. By a very long shot.
I really enjoyed this series. I appreciated the strong, consistent characters and descriptive (without being boring) writing which are hard to find in the fantasy/romance genre.
I only wish there had been more appearances by her family toward the end.
Be aware that all three books could use a good edit. There are numerous occasions where the wrong word is used. That being said, the storytelling was definitely above average which made it easier to overlook the editing issues.
The Master only thinks he’s got the upper hand in Alexis and Darken’s adventurous wrap to this trilogy doesn’t lose steam along the way. They do however face big betrayals, uncover big secrets, lose big pieces, gamble big and cause big changes, The spider and the Forfeit also recognize and admit their feelings for each other while wrapping all the lose threads to deliver a very satisfactory ending. th along with series Rating: 4.5stars
I loved this last boom on the series, it brought everything perfectly together, and wrapped the whole story well together. Seeing the evolution and growth od Alex and Darkens relationship was amazing, is very well built and so beautiful, I just want to hug them🥰
Whilst bits of this were easy to guess , engaging characters and world which I look forward to delving into in future books kept my interest. A found the I don't know what he / she thinks about me a little tedious and a tired storyline. However, I enjoyed all 3 books.
Very unique characters that are a refreshing change from the usual MCs. I really care about them. Good writing, fascinating world building and a challenging story arc. Who could ask for anything more? Really wish there had been more in the series - the MCs were special and compelling!
I was hesitant to read about this type of paranormal but it was so completely worth it to give it a chance!! The story pulled me in and carried me along the highs and lows. By book 3, I was fully invested in the final outcome and it did not disappoint!!
