Mason Black was never meant to become a "cheating husband" detector. Mason was, and remains, a cop committed to righting the great wrongs and tracking down the worst of the worst. Mason Black has always been willing to lay it all on the line for the greater good. Risking his life? Second nature! Choosing the case over his marriage? A no brainer. Even after losing his beloved daughter, Mason's soul is committed to protecting others.
In the final chapters of Mason Black's story, Nicholls reveals, perhaps, the toughest villain. A serial killer committed to making Mason a part of his demented delusion. Once again, leaving Diane and MJ behind, Mason joins forces with his sister, Evie. Who is this killer and what is his connection to the Black family? More importantly, can an aging Mason survive one last case?
Monster is the final instalment of the Mason Black series. From start to finish this book definitely lives up to the expectations of being a series that does not disappoint. It is well written and keeps the reader engaged. Mason is always known for getting himself into difficult situations and this book is no different. From the beginning you just know he won’t be able to resist one final case even if he has to put everything at risk to get the answers he’s looking for. It is written in such a way that you do not know the outcome until the very end, it keeps you guessing and when you think you’ve got it figured out, trust me think again. Definitely one to read if you like a good crime thriller that leaves you on the edge of your seat!! 😃
Mason Black is a character that has been through more than his fair share of dealings with true evil as he pursues some heinous serial killers. Monster sees him tackling more of the same as Adam Nicholls once again pits the PI against the darkest side of humanity. As always the author writes with skill and talent keeping the tension up from the start until the end. The ‘end’ is important here as this is the last time readers will get to see Mason in action and I won’t say how it all ends for our hero more than to say I liked it and felt it fitting.
Some religious nut job—a monster—was the new villain in this latest Mason Black case. This religious cult apparently has been sending Mason invites for some time now. An invite to what exactly? There’s nothing scarier than a freaky cult, especially a cannibalistic one. Boy, will Mason get a jolt of surprise when he finds out who the Master really was. An interesting case with shocking reveals. It’s Kill or Be Killed in this story. Which will Mason choose?
The Mason Black series finale did not disappoint. It’s the perfect ending. This story is very entertaining and well written. It kept me guessing all the way through. I highly recommend this series if you like well developed, fast paced thrillers. *this honest review is based on a complimentary copy from the author*
I loved this series.. the characters, the plots, the fast paced page turner!! I don’t know which one I loved the most!! The Russian roulette was an edge of my seat tear jerker, Mason going over the cliff both times was heart stopping! Amy dying was a heart breaker😢 Evie not coming back for Amy’s funeral! Diane leaving, Diane going to find Mason. The last one !!! I loved the ending!! All of them are great!!
I think you followed the correct path when writing Mason story. Yes,he could have died but the ending you choose was so much better. Gives some hope he & Evie might be back? I look forward to reading more of your books. Blessings to you and your family.
I have just finished reading the entire mason black series. Overall I enjoyed it, though I have to say the last book was my least favourite. I look forward to checking out what else Adam Nicholls has published
This is the last (but definitely not the least) in the Mason Black Series - or is it?
Well - Wow - a complete departure from the rest of the Series and even more gripping and filled with danger.
This time the whole family is in danger, Evie Black and her daughter and Diane and Bill are all involved. Mason is completely out of his comfort zone and his life is now very seriously in jeopardy.
The killer(s) leave a message for him in the form of a mutilated body but he is finding it difficult to understand what is expected of him.
The story spans two States and is the most complicated and fear filled case to date.
Nail biting, breath holding, edge of your seat read with so many unexpected twists and shocks your he’d will spin.
The biggest shock comes at the end and will blow your mind.
