This was a buddy read with the #cakeeaters from RHR.

I am going to review all four books at once and I will copy the review to the other books too.

The first book is about Lips Anderson starting at Hannaford Prep. We do not know a lot about her at this point only that she earned a scholarship to attend this school and that she is an orphan, 15 years old and already emancipated.
Quite early she pisses Harley and Ash off and gets the warth from four people, Blaise and Avery too, who rule the school. Also Ash’s and Avery’s older brother is interested in Lips. This first book is about Lips being bullied by the group that rules the school and we get to know the five people. At the End of the first book things turn around.

The events at the end of the first book had me hooked and I just grabbed the second book and started reading it.

Now Lips and Avery are best friends and she gets to know the whole group a lot better. The older brother pretty often makes an appearance and get them into trouble. A lot of secrets of the five are revealed and I really loved the girl power in this book.

In the third book thing heat up. New people make appearances, Lips role, the wolf, makes several appearances too. And Ash’s and Avery’s Dad has plans for his kids. And everybody is very unhappy about this plans and want to ruin them. There is more blood, murder and stuff in this book, but it is only a prelude for the fourth book.

In the fourth book Hannaford prep is only a setting. This book is not really about the school, bullying, the teachers or the student. It is mostly about a group of teenagers, that became a gang and then try to survive by killing people. The last book was defiantly not a prep school but a mobster book.

I really loved, that Lips is not the meek shy girl but a badass and she hold her own against her Bullies. But she is also ambitious, because she wants to have a good life away from crime she wants to get the highest marks and with them she wants to earn a scholarship for college. There are four year to reach this aim. I liked the girl power, the friendship so seemingly different girls formed and became a force in their own rights. And the boys fell in the line.

I did not like that the MC’s were 15 year old to beginn with, but they acted like people who were at least 25, much more mature than teenagers. The story could have been set in College or even later and it would be more believable.
I also did not like that in the fourth book Lips looses her badass vibe a lot because she is quite obsessed with getting laid by one or more of her guys. So it was either smut or killing. So I had trouble to get trough the last book. Especially the setting didn’t do it anymore, because nothing in that story had to do with life as a senior in high school.
So I liked 2.5 books of the series and the 1.5 last books of the series were not as good as the beginning.

MC: Lips, Ash, Harley, Blaise, Avery
SC: Joey (brother of Ash and Avery), Rory (Avery's boyfriend and later ex), Harlow, Annabell (both girls interested in a rich husband e.g. the MMC and Joey), Jackal (Jonny D'Ardo), Senior Beaumont (father of Joey, Ash and Avery), Luca, Crow (Atticus Crawford), Illi (The butcher of the Bay, Johnny Illium), Diarmuid O’Cronin, Morningstar (The Devil), Coyote (Jackson), Boar, Viola Ayres (Coyotes girlfriend)

Starts at the end of Year two, where the Jackal comes to pick up Lips and Harley. He tries threaten Lips and Harley and wants to know where they are going to live, but Lips refuses to give the information. She refuses to give this information. She directs the car to the docks where Illi is waiting for them. Illi used to be a friend of the Jackal but they are foes now.

At the beginning Lips and Harley live in a small townhouse. Harley is no fan of Illi whom he met earlier but to Lips he is a good guy. They are getting ready for a party when Illi comes to their house. He tells Lips that the Vulture is dead, because he killed him. The Vulture used to sell skins and Odie, Illi’s wife, was one of his victims. He begs Lips to be inducted by the Wolf, so he and Odie are save.

Blaise is back from his visit to his parents. They told him that they are having another baby and already know it’s a boy. And they tell him that they are going to give the company and everything to the baby and disown Blaise. He is devoted, because the parents do not want him to see the baby, because he might be bad influence for the boy.

They all go back to Hannaford together. Avery and Lips share a room, and the three guys do too. Again there is a new game Master for the Game: who is going to f*** Lips first. But now the guys and Avery are on her side. Since the new guy treats her badly she just breaks his nose and is done with it. And Ash makes it clear that proposing Lips will only end in being beat up by the guys.

They have a new history teacher, who is very interested in Harley. Ms. Vivianne is a skank and goes after every d***. She invite him into her study group for guys with good looks and high marks and proposes him where she can.

Illi comes to the school to warn Lips, Avery and the guys that Morningstar (the devil and a serial killer) was approached by the Jackal to kill Harley. And the Jackal liaising with Senior about killing Ash and Avery.

Avery meets Atticus for Dinner with Ash chaperoning. Lips little gang has to attend a meeting of the Twelve. The Jackal gave out a dress order and the meeting takes place at a club. Not willing to get a favour from the Jackal, they all have to dress in white Lingerie. Liam and Domnall O’Cronin also attend the meeting and before they walk in, Lips places 11 favours on the table, so 11 of the Twelve will keep quiet and do her bidding. She threatens the O’Cronin that they are done in Mounts Bay if they will not hand over the inheritance with interests and leave Harley alone. And they have no choice but to agree with the Wolfe.

Back in Hannaford Lips get a present: The head of Lance the Mounty stalker, who wanted to f*** Lips for the money in the Hannaford bet and who stole her panties. Other heads of people Lips knows and somehow did something to her, will be placed at her door in this book and also the next.

The Coyote calls Lips because he need her help. He asks her to get his girlfriend to his bunker, to keep her save. Turns out that his girlfriend is Viola Ayres, a senior at Hannaford Prep. Avery and Lips go to her room to get her. The actually like her too. They persuade her to pack a bag and drive to the Coyotes place with Illi.

There is a family Dinner at Hannaford prep for the Junior and Senior class. Senior is supposed to be there. And Illi and Odie show up as well as Blaise’s parent. But instead of Senior Joey comes to the Dinner.

Diarmuid wants to join the gang, but Lips does not trust him. So she tells him to prove his loyalty.

Annabell starts campaigning against Lips and makes her immoral behaviour with her harem public. She posts a video of the Lips and Harley in the pool and tries to get Lips expelled.

When Lips finally wants to stay over in Ash’s bed she falls asleep before he comes. But she gets woken up by Annabell, who stole Harleys key. Lips get the keys back. And Lips gets house arrest for it.

Miss Viviane makes changes to the syllabus and tells the class about Lips past, after Lips refuses to tell the class her personal history. She wants to split Lips and Harley up. But Harley tells her that he grew up in Mounts Bay too. And Ash plays videos of her f****** several males, students and board members. The headmaster takes her out of her class and she does not return.

Avery, Ash, Blaise and Lips go to a charity function at Mounts Bay. Avery meets Atticus there. At the same time Harley is out of town for a swim meet. At the charity party Lips sees Atticus and tells everybody to hurry back to the hotel room and to grab Avery. Turns out that Atticus is the Crow.

That night they get a phone call from Illi that Harley is in the hospital. Annabell gave him drugs, which were bad and they all rush back to be at the hospital. The Butcher took Annabell for questioning and when Lips gets her hands on the drugs she gave Harley, he sees that the Jackal was involved. Illi kills Annabell and Harley barely survive.

The Jackal comes to Hannaford to meet Lips. She has to come alone, but she text Illi. When she is in the dinning hall and does not submit to the Jackal, he points a gun at her and takes her with him. But Luca is with him and he hits Jackal until he is unconscious. The other two guys who were with Luca are taken out by Ash, Harlow and Blaise. They send the Jackal back to Mounts Bay and Luca reveals that he is one of the Crows men.

Finally Miss Vivianne makes her move. She calls Lips to the headmasters office, waiting for her with a gun. But the gun is not loaded and Lips breaks her arm and takes the gun. After finding out that Vivianne is in love with the Jackal and delusional, Lips kills her, and dispose her in some tubs which they put in Blaise’s car.

Aodhan O’Cronin wins the game and he kills his father Liam and his Grandfather as a peace Offering to the Wolf and Harley.

The year is over and they stay at Avery’s farm for the summer. But first they stay at Mounts Bay for a night where one of seniors men summon them to a dinner with senior. At the dinner Lips gets a head delivery: Joey is dead. Senior tells them that he sold Avery to a buyer. Big cliffhanger here.

Cliffhanger!

And now I apparently have to wait until March for next book...

There's so much I love about this series. One thing I hate, besides the cliffhanger of course!

I love these characters. Avery is the best BFF a girl could ever want. The guys are wonderful. The family they have made to replace their actual crappy families is amazing.

I love how this story doesn't shy away from violence...and how the actual school portion of the book is more background noise now.

The focus is on the seedy criminal underworld and the power players. Somehow the main character, Lips, is one of The Twelve...which are actual crime bosses who control different facets depending on their strengths and skills.

Things have gotten crazier in this book. A teacher seems hell bent on seducing Harley. Anna is still after Harley. This guy must be quite a catch, lol. Lips is getting gift boxes with decapitated heads in them. Joey is still causing trouble. The Jackal wants Lips now. There's so much going on that it's impossible to stop reading. Then again, this is the kind of story that always keeps my attention.

I absolutely HATE that the author wrote these characters as 15 years old in book one, 16 in book two , and 17 in this book. Why? It would be so much more believable if they were at least college age...which is what I try to trick my brain into reading instead of what's actually written.

I just dont know of any 15 to 17 year olds who are mature enough and experienced enough to pull off this stuff...whatever though! It's fiction, yeah. I read about fairies and vampires and all sorts of other supernatural, why not, I guess. Lol. Minor issue I guess, but it's the thing my brain cringes at.

Trigger warnings- if you have triggers, just skip this. Do yourself a favor and find a different book. These characters smile, drink, swear, have sex, plus there's violence, gore, talk of torture, castration, rape, sex slavery, and everything else you can think of.

If you like darker themes and want a quick addictive read, by all means give it a shot. I loved it.

I figured it out hell yeaahhh, well we still don’t know but I’m pretty confident in my suspect. This was GOOD. SO GOOD like goddamn I’m enjoying this A LOT. The only issue for me here was that sometimes the guys are wayyy too protective that it felt a bit annoying at times. And I’ll just say, if I don’t fcking get a scene with the four of them IM SUING.

I’ll write a full review on the series in the fourth and final book as these are all continuous

What a ride! The Wolf has come out to play! This story just keeps getting better and better. Yes, it's over the top, but I am loving every second of it. Non-stop action, unforgettable characters, and unpredictable twists. Plus, the sexy times have begun. For me, it just doesn't get any better than this.

This 3rd book kept pace with books 1 and 2 and was so good 🔪 💀 😈 🔥.
All the teasing finally gave way to some hot spice for lips, and the murderous events ramped up. Onto book 4.

Avery is the biggest cock block. She is basically in the relationship with them. Lips spends more time with her than any of the other guys and she lets Avery dictate exactly how her relationship is going to play out. At first it was amusing, but now after 3 books of her controlling the boys and now controlling Lips, it is very annoying. She needs to back off and Lips needs to grow a backbone on how she wants her relationship to go. I skip entire paragraphs when I realize it’s just Avery bitching about how she’s going to shank one of the boys for kissing Lips in front of her. My god, what does she expect? Just get your own room then or find your own boyfriend. There is absolutely no reason for her to be this involved in not just her best friends love life but her brothers love life. It’s weird and repetitive.

DNF @ 32%. Eh, yet another RH series I couldn’t see through. The altercation with the Jackal was very anticlimactic, Lips has become way too self-importantly smug while trying to come off as humble, the guys have become way too love struck and clingy, and I chose to cop out. It was fun while it lasted.

lips and avery are so ride or die it’s incredible. the bond they’ve formed and fostered throughout these books is fucking epic. it’s so pure and just made of complete understanding. they know each other so innately.

same thing with all the guys. they way they snark and argue and compete but above it all is their desire and want and need and love for lips. the way they care for her, and each other, and avery is just amazing. they way everything comes to together with their relationship and the realization that they all wanted each other so bad and couldn’t see it. harley is still my favourite, even the second time around. i love them all dearly but i just think something about him and lips is incredibly special.

illi is the cutest human on the planet and i love how everyone softens the edges towards him cause he is just a damn good guy. the way he slowly grows on everyone. the way he’s such the sweetest butchering psycho mountain of a man. i loved how we got to see his story and his interactions with lips in butcher of the bay and it just kept going and solidifying in this. truly family.

The love and support ander want this understanding they althave for each other iszing. absolutely beautiful. The way the guys all know each other so well and know what each other needs from Lips and just how they are and how to deal is so endearing. This family is everything. THE CLIFF HANGER!!!! has me in a range and so shocked and I am absolutely itching to know what the fuck is going on. I can't wait to finish but I never want this to end. All the characters are absolutely amazing.

I enjoyed the fuck out of this. My god, I didn't even have to remember to willingly suspend my disbelief. Like, these books work so well, you don't even notice the over the top mafia drama these 17 years old guys are going through. Everything just flows and works perfectly well together.

The friendship between the main character and the other girl was one of my favorite parts of the story. They were ruthless together, complementing each other and creating the perfect GirlBoss team. Where our protagonist is pure raw strength, the other female character can destroy your life with a single phone call. And I just found the idea of these two girls working together to annihilate the whole world so satisfying. And hot. Like, seriously. Why can't these two girls be queer and the protagonist end up with the three guys and one girl?

Another pleasant surprise, and this one is a first in my RH finds, was the friendship between the three boys. Usually, even when a RH story tells you they are like brothers, it's hard to find the real connection. In this book, their love for one another shined through so true and real, it made me care for them and their happiness.

Lastly, the romance was perfect. The pace was kept at a slow burn level, but what made it work so well was to see the development between her and the three boys, and how they took things slow but surely got to show each other how much they cared. And that's what made it so special. 

I can't wait to read the last book. And I'm praying for it to deliver everything I'm craving so badly. Please be as good as the rest of the series!

Okay. This is more an explanation to my 3 stars-rating than an actual review. I liked the first book and I loved the second. But halfway through this one I just wanted it to end.

There are a lot of small things that bothered me. The story felt slow and repetitive, Lips started to feel weaker and some choices just don’t make sense, even in this highly unreal, over the top world the author has created. My main reason though, the twin sister Avery. I liked Avery in most part of the second book, but now she just annoys the hell out of me. Her attitude towards Lips and the guys’ developing relationship is like a wet blanket. I think Avery is doing it to make sure the guys don’t pressure Lips, but it completely destroys the experience.

”Avery gets back and death glares him into leaving with a quick kiss [...].”

“Your legs wrapped around my neck might just be my preferred way to go.” Avery snaps at us both [...].

Blaise is “kissing me sweetly until Avery bitches him out”.

“He murmurs against my lips, ignoring Avery cussing him out [...].”

If this continues in To The End I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish it.

What is happening?!

This series has completely taken me by surprise. I couldn’t put it down and I can’t wait for the next book! It’s complex, full of twists and turns that completely surprise you, and tickles the dark parts of my own soul. I freaking love it.
Lips and the Family head back to Hannaford for a third year in much different grounds than the years previously. Sh*t has hit the fan and the Wolf is bloodthirsty. There are so many threats and enemies that you’re left asking just what the hell is going on and admiring the level of plotting that went behind this beautifully dark and twisted survival story.

Ugh this Author is good at stopping on a Major Cliffhanger

Ok so yes Lips finally does the deed and you see a lot more of what she does as a wolf like killing and dismemberment of a person.

But the problem I have is her constant blushing and immaturity for her being this all so mighty powerful person of the twelve.

You know the book can be entertaining however it's unrealistic also having a girl very young having so much power and killing people. As well as what the others do.

The reason why it’s not 5 stars is because the very middle part felt a little bit slow.

Right..... I've now binged the three books that are out so far, and I feel like crying.

This is one of those RARE moments where I literally feel destroyed by the thought of having to wait lol. I love these characters so hard, and I want to stay in their fucking world.

These books have given me some interesting discussions with friends, who think they're lacking something. Who thinks we need details on why the Wolf is as feared as she is..... And while talking to my friend and explaining my point of view, I discovered yet another reason I flove these books.

People are scared of her because she's the Wolf - one of the Twelve. Let's forget about actions for a hot sec, it's the status and whispers surrounding the Twelve that gives her the most respect / fear from people, who aren't close to her or any of the Twelve. As for actions; she survived The Game - which we do get details of at least the final 3, torture at the hands of the Jackal himself when he taught her not to scream while smashing up her leg - as well as shown unwavering loyalty. All stuff that acts like testaments to her "badassery". At least in my humble opinion

Now I really have no clue that to read next..... I'm ruined. I need something just as awesome and twisted!!

not sure if i even want to continue the rest of the series. possibly one of the worst RH books ive read. the first two were doing good and i don’t know how it all went downhill. avery is fucking annoying now always dictating lips relationship with the guys. it’s becoming weird at this point like girl this is your brothers relationship back up. lips is also irritating me. she might as well just leave the boys and date avery since she lets her call the shots for everything. this book was just a whole bunch of nothing.

The whole book is a long waiting game. Let me paint you a picture: some terrible news, head delivered, no we can't kill joey yet, rinse and repeat. There's always an excuse for why they can't just make their moves which doesn't make sense with her being the big bad Wolf. I assume its for lengths sake. Yeah, just real draggy. The only upside is Avery's development with her new boy toy and uncovering Lips' parentage

It’s been a while since I’ve been addicted to book series the way that I am this one! The story, the characters, the slow burn…it’s all just so good. I love the found family in this series and how we get to know the characters more as it goes on. Also Lips is definitely in full badass during this book and I was loving it! There’s nothing like a stabby FMC who is literally way scarier and more baddass than any of her boyfriends. My one hold up with this series is that the characters are like 15 & 16…I think it would have made more sense if they were college aged. Like what 13 year old girl is going to get chosen as a crime ring leader and how is she so well respected?! Anywho I just pretend that they are like 20 years old in college to get me through.🫡
