Ryome goes to Lake Latoin to hunt mad salamanders. Another laid back adventure, with some twists and turns, and slime evolutions of course. Ryoma is shaping up to be quite a complex character and I like it. Kudos to finding out his ex manager on earth got his oh-so-sweet just desserts.

Ryoma finalizes his business with the mad salamanders and their domain only to return to a somewhat changed Gimul. At the same time those around Ryoma (deities and mortals) worry about the boy. He is being too altruistic and it is bound to cause an issue if things do not change.

The story develops much like previous parts, but we do get some character development on Ryoma's side, or at least more of a personal arc. Still, it is just very much a slow paced slice-of-life story set in a sword-and-sorcery fantasy world. Ryoma's struggles feel a bit at odds with earlier parts and style of story, and I am not entirely sure what to think about it. It adds a bit of a sense of realism to the story (humans were a bit too good), but most tonal shifts in stories often just lead to a clash. Water and oil don't mix and all that.

Still, as of yet I like the series as a change of pace. The current direction might change things. We will see.

I think this book is much shorter than the rest in this series. The main story is much shorter and even if there were other POVs, a bonus story and extra stories, it felt much shorter, all the same.

Nonetheless, it was just as entertaining. Watching Ryoma create new things one after another was fun. Visiting Sikum was like a treasure trove for him where his slimes It was fun reading about him having fun. The new products are all so amusing to read too.

But despite this, there's this feeling of unrest amidst all of it somehow. The consequences of all that Ryoma's doing and inventing leave me quite bothered. How will his inventions be perceived? I'm sure they will all cause a stir and somehow, it makes me nervous for him. His guardians think as much too. Also, the situation in Gimul is quite unsettling as well. I can already see Ryoma being targeted. I know he can handle himself just fine but still, it can be worrisome.

I'm also quite confused with Ryoma He's always been calm, I wonder what triggered him. Though Roy, the author, somehow explained in the Afterword that it's because I'm still quite confused. I hope this will be explained more in the coming book.

Overall, this book is rather serious. It shows unrest behind the scenes and just overall it. Still, I'm glad Ryoma is enjoying his time with his slimes. Can't wait to read the next!

It’s interesting to hear what Serelipta found when he searched Ryoma’s soul and discovered what the earth god did to him, trying to set Ryoma up to becoming a powder keg of a serial killer, and how it shaped his low self-esteem, and also why he wants to become part of a social group.

The conflict involving other nobles striking out against the duke in secret is intriguing! I can also see how Ryoma’s discovery of the pearl slime might cause trouble for him if it were discovered.

Also intriguing is how Ryoma is acting uncharacteristically tense lately. Did that have something to do with how Serelipta touched his soul? Was it damaged?

The ending short story satisfied my bloodthirsty nature to explain how Ryoma’s abusive manager got his just desserts at the end. How mysterious that he felt compelled to steal the swords! I wonder if the earth god somehow cursed the blades when he had Ryoma’s father make them?

this is a great story line

This is a great story, and I’m really enjoying it… I’m loving the characters. I’m loving the plot lines. I’m loving the fact that it’s not as trope as all the other light novels… My only problem with the entire series is it every book seems to get shorter. It took me a couple days to read the first one and I read the last two-8 and 9… in one day. I know my reading speed has not gotten that much faster. Let’s bang for your buck is kind of sad but the story is beautiful and Rich and I’ve already bought through volume 12. But if page count keeps shrinking and it gets below 100 pages, I may have to quit buying them.

Audio: 5 Stars - Great Work!!!!

Story: Serial Killer!?!?!? Where did the original "Slice of Life" & "Adventure" go!?!?!?! Then more politics and war? What happened within a year of the story beginning?!? Then he is supposed to live a happy life but now he is dealing with all the stress of politics and marketing. If this continues in the following book, I'm dropping the series. It reminded me of Honey Drop when it became incestuos after such a sweet beggining! PLEASE get rid of Eliaria too! Onto my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!

Quality is dropping

Too many characters to keep up with. Volumes are getting shorter. Seems like they are trying to storyboard a episode and a half with each new volume with all the pointless details.

Ryoma needs to demand a good compensation for his ideas. It still bothers me but this volume was more enjoyable than the previous one. The revelation about what happened to Ryom in his first life was heartbreaking.

Wonderful

I enjoy the slice of life portions of the book. Seeing the company Ryoma used to work for go under was satisfying.

Shorter than the previous volume, and yeah, maybe to keep things fresh? Like the author said in the afterword, the MC acts "uncharacteristically."

The ninth volume of By the Grace Of The Gods opens with the Lord of Fatoma coming around and greeting his people. He wants a new product to sell to drum up business in the area, so he asks for local recipes. Ryoma comes through in this case with gyoza.

In the interim, Elia introduces her friends from school to her family. The Duke receives a boon from Ryoma's slime research.

Ryoma finally returns to Gimul, only to find the public order has taken a hit. He wants to buy up a surviving Laundry Service that opened on the other side of town, but several thugs get into the mix and Ryoma decides to abandon those plans.

Finally, Ryoma's old manager on Earth gets arrested for several crimes.

I enjoyed the book. Thanks for reading my review, and see you next time.

Ryoma starts the novel is the land he was in at the end of the previous novel, and meets the Lord of the land. The Lord offers to pay him to perform a couple of jobs for him. Using his slimes and knowledge from Japan he performs them very well. Then he returns to the Laundromat and finds out that the town is going downhill.

The novel is kind of short. It is enjoyable, everyone is kind of cheerful during the happy scenes. When things get tense, the novel kind of looses steam. There is more info on the overall what's going on.
