Summer after 4th year Harry learns that James isn't exactly is father and Lily isn't his mother. Will his newly discovered family be able to help him recover from his violent, abusive childhood? Will he be able to trust again enough to find love?
About 2.5 GR stars. Definite trigger-warning-worthy content (including a horrible, graphic opening chapter, various flashbacks, etc., and a serious suicide attempt), and there are too many word errors, etc., though more towards the beginning, I believe (e.g., the unintentionally humorous "Tony was bent over his work bench with some kind of weird contraception on his head" in Chapter 5 — s/b "contraption", and the same mistake occurs again in at least one later chapter). (Much more bitterly amusing is the misuse of "no perpetration" for "no preparation", given the context.) The writing style is otherwise decent, though not stellar.
The heart of the story is giving a physically- and emotionally-scarred boy unconditional love and support, from family by both blood and choice, without easy fixes. Overall, I'm glad I stuck with this LONGfic despite the rape beginning (and some canon-similar fat=evil language). Among other well-thought points is Harry's feeling like his magic has brought him much more harm than good, and who might be available to give him another perspective and training without trying to drag him back to Hogwarts. Less plausible is that the far-from-enlightened wixen community finds severe child abuse to be so rare as to be almost incredible.
The mpreg trope is re. past events, hinted at in the blurb. I debated also including the polyamory shelf, since the Weasley twins, both of them, are eventually designated/ revealed to be Harry's soulmates, but at this point, given his age (15) and severe trauma, their [V-shaped] relationship is all still pretty innocent; they are absolutely not going to pressure him before he's ready. As for other ships, there's a minor Tony/Bruce thread.
The resolution re. Voldemort and re. Dumbledore's extreme, ruthless machinations is potentially controversial, but fits, with a doable bit of suspension of disbelief re. both Riddle and Fenrir Greyback. The loathsome Vernon Dursley's punishment is also carried out by someone with no inclination to mercy (trying to avoid spoilers here), and I can't quite decide how I feel about its karmic balance, but I like how before that, Tony used him to unwittingly help identify more pedophiles and rescue many victims.
N.b., Ron and Hermione are barely in this, in just one chapter, IIRC. Sirius and Remus have more of a role, at a few points.
The main story is finished in Chapter 26, with several excellent epilogues, including introducing Spider-Man (the author finally having seen the Tom Holland version, and warmed to the idea) ... and which now at Ch. 30 31 seem to be is heading into a new story-arc! (The addition of the 30th chapter is why I read it again, btw. I like Tony-is-Harry's-father fics, but it's hard to remember which has what other elements. UPDATE 6/2024: Ditto re. Ch.31! The author is leaving it marked Complete, but who knows how often more will be added.)
