It was only supposed to be a pretend courtship. That was the deal. It hadn’t included a kiss.

Amy Troyer was shocked two years ago when her fiancé left her for the Englisch world. But now he’s back, and rumor has it he’s engaged to a woman from another Amish district. With the community's upcoming weddings and holiday festivities being planned, the last thing Amy wants is to show up dateless. So, she hatches a plan to not only make her ex jealous, but to silence the pitiful stares from family and friends.

At first, Nathaniel Miller balks at the idea of pretending to be Amy Troyer’s significant other, but he admits he’d like to axe his brothers’ teasing. As the two of them get acquainted and spend more time together, though, he finds himself falling for his schweschder’s best friend.

Could it possibly be Der Herr—instead of Amy—orchestrating their fake courtship?

The Pretender is another fantastic story written by Jennifer Spredemann in her Amish Country Brides series. When you pick up a book by this author you will not be disappointed. I loved the characters and the storyline moves at a great pace keeping the readers interest. This story starts out with two characters pretending they are counting for different reasons but when things start to heat up between them they are both confused about how each other feels. There is one character in this story that was being very dishonest and it doesn't turn out well for him. This story was perfect for the Christmas season.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

(Amish Country Brides)

This is Amy Troyer and Nathaniel Miller's story.
He quickened his pace. His oldest schweschder’s bedroom door opened and “Ach!”
Like a flash of lightning, Amy Troyer crashed smack dab into his chest.
How was it that he ended up in the hallway with his schweschder’s best friend entangled in his arms?
“Nathaniel,” she panted the words, examining his face. “Let me go?” she squeaked out.
He blinked, then released her. “Ach, jah.Sorry.” He hurried toward his room.
“Nathaniel, wait!” She held up a hand.He turned around and lowered his brow.
I recommend reading.
The Pretender by Jennifer Spredemann is a wonderful well written 5 star book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by Jennifer Spredemann.

Two years ago, Amy and Toby were going to get married. Imagine Amy’s devastation when Toby breaks up with her so he can go live in the English world. Fast forward two years and Martha, Amy’s best friend, tells her that Toby is coming back to live to their community with his new fiancée and they will soon be married. In utter shock, Amy stumbles into Nathaniel, Martha’s younger brother and they strike up a conversation. Amy tells him about Toby coming back to town and Nathaniel tells her how tired he is of hearing his siblings pester him about getting married. Amy and Nathaniel come up with a plan to say they are now courting even though they are just pretending to get make Toby jealous and to silence Nathaniel’s siblings. Somewhere along the line, their feelings for each other become real…maybe after their first “pretend” kiss.

When Toby comes back to town, will Amy’s old feelings for him be rekindled? Will she have to decide which man she loves more and risk hurting the other one? Will Nathaniel lose the only girl he has ever loved?

This book will definitely keep your attention…especially when something is revealed towards the end of the book that will take you by surprise. Jennifer Spredemann has wrote another amazing book and I highly recommend it.

I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion and review.

The PRETENDER by Jennifer Spredemann is another great book in the Amish Country Brides Series.
Please do yourself a favor read this series, you could read this book as a stand alone but I would recommend to read them in order.
Nathaniel may have moved into my top spot as hero, knight in shinning armor and all around great guy. He is the guy that every mom dreams about and wishes upon a star for, f their daughter.
Amy is the sweet girl next door the want to have what all girls have, a husband that supports her, believes in her and loves her for who she is but can she have that now.
Sometimes what we don’t see is what we are looking for all along, and what God has been preparing for us. Jennifer Spredemann has created a special book that shows you that sometimes the roll we play in life may lead us right to the exact spot we were supposed to land if we trust in the path along the way. I highly recommend this book as well as the whole series.
I was given a ARC for my honest opinion and they are all deed my true feeling.

What a great story of love, faith and honor to God .. Amy Troyers fiance left her heart broken to years ago to be English. She knew in her heart he wasn't coming back, but he did, with another Amish girl he was engaged too..and just before the wedding season and holidays.
She really didn't want to go to the parties and weddings alone as she didn't want her old fiance know she was still thinking of him. So she came up with a plan, a pretend boyfriend, but who?
She decided to ask her neighbor and friend, Nathaniel Miller if he would go along with her plan. At first he said no, but after his brothers started teasing him of not having a girl, he decided to go along with Amy's plan. As time went on, things changed for them both.. was it God's plan that they were to be together? And of course, Sammy once again gave wonderful advice when Nathaniel needed it.. God's words..
I would suggest this great story, along with tissues.. and all the others in this series.. I was given an ARC copy for an honest review and these are my own words..

This was book 9 of the Amish Country Brides series by Jennifer Spredemann. It was an engaging and fun read. Poor Amy Troyer, whose fiance left to join the Englisch, with or without her. After he returns to their Amish district after a 2 year departure, Amy discovers that he is engaged. She talks to Nathaniel about having a pretend courtship with her in the hopes that it will make former fiance, Toby jealous. Perhaps even to get them back together.
What happens between them is heartwarming and then Toby returns and decides he wants to have her back. Now Amy has to decide what is best for her future. The book has an interesting twist that will catch you by surprise!

This book was a great addition to the series and as with each of the earlier books, a great read that you will totally enjoy! The author is very talented and brings good Christian values to each of her books. And of course, Sammy was there to add some helpful advice to those who need it.

I received a copy of this book from the author with no requirement to give a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

Sometimes when our plans don’t go exactly as we thought they would…..
something unexpected and wonderful happens!

The plan was for Amy Troyer and Nathaniel Miller to have a fake courtship. Amy was desperately trying to show her ex-fiancé, who had left the Amish faith, that she was doing well without him. Nathaniel was tired of his family’s constant remarks about trying to find a wife. So what could work out better than a fake courtship between Amy and Nathaniel?

I enjoyed reading Amy and Nathaniel’s story. Their plans took an unexpected turn; and their journey of learning to place their full confidence in God in times of uncertainty added a theme of faith to the book. I have loved this series, and look forward to reading more from author Jennifer Spredemann.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Great read!!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Nathaniel and Amy's story in The Pretender. Sammy still plays an important role as mentor and prayer warrior. I'm looking forward to the next book which , hopefully, will continue the story of Toby (Amy's former fiancé).

You will love all of Jennifer Spredeman books. This book kept me going and could not put it down. Nathaniel Miller was a true hero. You do not find to many people who will help someone else out of a jam. God is always there when you need him. Amy Troyer was truly blessed when she ran into Nathaniel. It is a must read. Outstanding book.

I liked this book. It seemed to be a fast action book. In other words, it didn't drag on forever to tell the story. The story was interesting, kept you wanting to read, and you didn't get bored. So it was definitely a thumbs up! J💟

y thoughts on The Pretender

Wasn’t ready for this story to end. I could have had
It go on a few chapters more. In all different lives the same things happen. This was the way it should have. But what if Nathaniel hadn’t been in the right place at the right time.
