Dirty Deeds #1

Little Bird

Rate this book
It's good to be King...

Bane Rivera: my name is well-known and feared in the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles.

There is only one rule that I live by—only one rule that matters—never let a woman get in the way of business.

Ever.

Then Wren Montana happened.

She barged into my office—into my life—like a beautiful wildfire, demanding something of me I couldn’t ever give her: a pass for her brother’s mistake.

From the moment I saw her, I knew I had to have her. To feel her spirit break under my crushing grip as she gave her very soul to me. Until she was dependent on me like a junkie for their next fix.

But she wasn't like the other women I'd used and discarded. No, my Wren, my Little Bird, she was strong. Every time she told me no, every time she walked away, it only fanned the flames of my need, consuming me…

Causing me to forget my one and only rule.

This review is really hard for me because for the most part I loved this story. Wren's brother owed a debt to a mobster and Wren was always coming to his rescue. In this instance he owed $50,000. Bane knew as soon as Wren walked in that he had to have her to he told her if she would be with him for 2 weeks he would wipe the debt clean.

“What do you want me for then?” “I want you to be my personal Doll.”

That's fine. I love mobsters, murderers, bad guys. My issue was with Bane when he used his "dolls" who worked for him at his gentleman's club. He says he didn't sleep with them but he received multiple blow jobs from them. Whatever I'm used to the manwhore trope.

That was fine until he started seeing Wren. He had sex with her and had even asked her out to dinner at his sisters house that night. He just couldn't control his cock and needed a release so he had TWO of his "dolls" come blow him in his office. Then without showering went out with Wren. Later that evening had sex with her again without showering. She never found out and it was never addressed again.

Shit. I have to get my head on straight. I was Bane-fucking-Rivera. I never let pussy dictate to me. I never let pussy interfere with my business. What I needed to do was remember who the fuck I was and how I’d gotten here. Mooning over Wren had made me soft.

Now that's where Bane lost a couple of stars for me. This story had tons of drama and action. It did not need that. Bane's sex drive was ott already. I mean come on . What man gives a dozen orgasms a night? That being said I consider that cheating when he is dating her and pursuing her. I know everyone has different ideas of what they believe is cheating but this crosses line for me.

So I loved that Bane was ott jealous/possessive and obsessed with Wren. I loved that he couldn't function without her. He also gave up sleeping with other women after the two girls blowing him in his office. Better late than never I guess. Had that not happened this would have been a fantastic read for me. If you can skip that scene it doesn't add or detract from the story and is completely unnecessary.

“You know, this bossing me around thing won’t work.” “You love it when I take control.”

This had a bit of BDSM in it. Not a ton but it was there. My favorite quote from the book came when Bane told Wren he had read the Fifty Shades Of Gray books.

“I don’t need a Christian Grey-style contract where all the limits are set out.” “Good, because that was fucked up. It took all the mystery and fun out of their fucking.” Her eyes widened. “You’ve seen the movie?” I grunted and folded my arms. “Read the books.”

This is the first book that I've read by this author and I will definitely give her another chance. If I could take that one part out this would have been such a great read for me. If you can overlook the cheating or skip that scene this is a mafia read that you will love!

THIS IS MY OPINION! read it to form your own

I want to start this off by making it clear that this was not my cup of tea (even though we know i’m in love with dark mafia romances). This was on a whole different level of…done before, boring and lowkey misogynistic.

From the first chapter…i knew it was going to be bad. The writing was a lot of telling and not showing. The dialogue was cringy and didnt flow.

There was no personality or substance in any of the character (expect for one at the near end and he was a side character).

85% of this book was just sex or sexual. A lot of the plot took place at the end of the book…that was my favourite part. The smut was descriptive yet still boring and there was WAY too much of it!

The pace was way too fast that there was no time to actually get to know the characters and understand them which meant they lacked in every way.

Even with the two main character I felt they lacked chemistry…their relationship was built off nothing and I felt like they were saying the most randomly lovey dovey shit after meeting twice.

I really wish the female main character had some sort of backbone…

there was also some really random plot holes that didn’t need to be there at all…

If it takes 247 pages to get interesting…i dont know what to say

1.5/5⭐️

I am a first time reader of Kally’s work and I am in love!!! Bane and Wren are so hot! Babe is the whole package

Alpha A-Hole ✔️
Sexy AF ✔️
Ruthless Mafia Man ✔️
Wealthy Businessman ✔️

Wren has struggled her entire life from taking care of her self and her troublesome brother but that didn’t change how damn strong, independent and feisty she is. Wren would do anything for family which is how she makes a deal with the Devil for two weeks but ends up being so much more. These two together have this off the charts chemistry that is like a ticking time bomb and any moment it can explode.

I was captured from the very first page and I couldn’t put it done until I reached the end. There was so many twists and turns. Everything keeps you guessing. If you like dark and dirty. Rough and gritty! I can’t wait for us to get Daggers story!!! I will impatiently be wait with my grabby hands!

This was a good read. I loved the idea of the plot and really enjoyed the spice! First half of the book was more spice driven, then the second half jumped into the plot a lot more. Just for my personal taste it’s a very fast pace book in terms of relationship, plot and spice. Due to it being quite fast, I wasn’t phased by the plot twists. For example if someone was close to death it happened so quick I couldn’t process the emotion.
If you love a fast pace book give it a go!

I can’t with this guy.. I get the whole alpha asshole guy who needs release and getting what he needs. But he was actively pursuing her with all intentions of showing her that he wasn’t a ‘sex fiend drug dealer’ (his words). So he spends the night bedding her, the next day her turns up at her work and she refuses to sleep with him again but agreed to go to dinner with him to meet his family and see there is more to him then the bad. So naturally what does he do? Leaves her and goes straight back to his sex club to get the release he needs and if she won’t give it to him he guesses he just needs to get it elsewhere… he eats one of his sex dolls out while another gives him head. Fair enough they aren’t together yet but he had all intentions of keeping her and you just know if the situation was reversed she would have been in trouble. What I can’t get passed is the fact that just a few hours later he’s kissing her and bedding her again WITHOUT PROTECTION like he didn’t just have other women’s bodily fluids all over him a few hours prior. What a fucking joke. And the real kicker is that she was oblivious. Later the following night when they are discussing that he has in fact fooled around with his working girls.. she thinks to herself I’m upset but I have no reason to be because it was before me yet it was not and he never clarifies. This book had so much potential, but I couldn’t get passed that. Mostly because I didn’t feel his actions were portraying the obsession and fire that the author was trying to show he had for Wren. I didn’t find his emotions genuine and after that I couldn’t relate to the characters. It completely ruined the book for me. DNF.

“Little Bird” by Cally Ash was honestly the epitome of a guilty pleasure read, honestly! It was soooo bingeable, initially when I first started reading it, I couldn't put it down! I found myself instantly taking a liking to the female main character, Wren and I felt so sad and frustrated at the fact she was always feeling like she was having to fix up her brother's stupid mistakes, like what was Hawk thinking? Ahhh! 😯 Like, getting tangled up in idiotic gambling debts? I so often found myself inwardly wanting to shriek at Hawk anytime he was on the page, but I loved that Wren was so over her brother's shit, yet by the same token she still cared deeply for him as it was only ever the two of them, Wren, you're just too good! Bane, the male main character, was ruthless in every sense - but strangely endearing? I found myself absolutely loving his page time with Wren, their chemistry was absolutely divine throughout and I couldn't get enough of their dynamic!! Admittedly, the plot itself didn't reaaallly move much of anywhere, which to me made “Little Bird” more character orientated (this is fine, though) than plot - there were a couple points throughout that had me on tenterhooks, but when the reveals came to light (e.g who attacked Wren on the streets?) I was slightly dubious about the motive, which I'm not going to add much more on but also, like, really? 😵 Ultimately though, the characters definitely rebuilt what was lacking plot wise - the supporting cast of Darcy, Bianca, James & Dagger were all super lovely and the teaser from Daggers’ own novel sounds super intriguing! Will definitely be keen to read more Cally Ash, for sure! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Little Bird by Kally Ash is the First book in the Dirty Deeds Series. This is the story of Wren Montana and Bane Rivera. Bane owns a Gentleman's club along with some underground criminal activity. Bane calls his girls 'Dolls' and doesn't have relationships with them other than oral. Wren and her brother have been by themselves for a long time. Wren is the oldest so she is usually cleaning up her brother's messes. When he steals from Bane she goes to find Bane to work out a payment plan or something. When Bane first lays eyes on Wren he is of course very taken with her and offers her a two week deal. Overall this was a good read I didn't get into is as much as I like with a book. I think I was thrown off by Bane by still entertaining the 'Dolls' after meeting Wren at least twice. Granted that neither had kissed or made any commitments to each other and when they did he only had eyes and mouth for her. The epilogues where awesome and this writer should be commended for them. I love when the author puts that cherry on top of their writing. I will be looking to try more books from this author.

Man! This book was packed with drama: drugs, women, turf wars, betrayal, you name it. And don't forget the heat 🔥🔥🔥

I loved Wren's spunk and willingness to try to take care of the only family she had left, deserving or not, but also to take up for herself. I felt her character was very well-written.

While Bane could be smoking hot, he had moments that turned me off also. Not that every male lead should automatically be completely redeemed and smitten to the point of wanting no one else, especially one in the business he was in, but he still rubbed me the wrong way sometimes. Maybe my reading mood just wasn't up for that at the time 🤷🏼‍♀️

Either way, this was an enjoyable mafia read. It did contain selling of bodies and drugs, so if that's not on your list of okays, you might want to skip this one. If you're down for all that and like some super steam, you might enjoy this book.

Also, I'm a bit intrigued about the next books and how that relationship got started...

Little Bird is the first book I've read by Kally Ash and I really liked it. This is the first book in the Dirty Deeds series. This book is read from dual perspectives from Bane Rivera and Wren Montana.

Bane is feared by his business dealings in the LA area. Wren's brother gets on the wrong side of things with Bane and his life is threatened if Bane doesn't get his money. Wren being the best sister she can be goes to Bane trying to find another way to pay him back. She ends up agreeing to be his for two weeks.

However in these two weeks, she starts to fall for him. She's a struggling dog groomer and will do anything to dig her brother out of trouble. However, as the story goes on we learn more about her brother.

Bane, who doesn't see people regularly, falls hard for Wren. What happens when her life is threatened. Will he be able to save her in time. Will it ruin their relationship or make it stronger? Will Wren's brother learns to step up to his wrongdoings, or will it get him in the end?

I really enjoyed this book and getting to know these characters. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series!

Fuck this book. I hate it here so much.

This was just terrible. At first it was amusing to read because it was so bad but the more it went, the worse it felt. I hated everything about this book. The characters, the writing, the settings, the timeline (it literally takes place in less than two weeks???? And they're engaged by the end of the book???? No fucking way), the point of views and literally everything else. I hated bane so much, his character was written so poorly, the way he talks about women is disgusting and then you're meant to sympathize with him? To believe this absolutely backwards woman with no backbone would somehow fall in love with and get engaged to within two weeks because of all of these different sides to him?? (If I saw that phrase one more time I was going to lose it). He literally cheats on his love interest and then has sex with her without showering like two hours later?
Not to mention the terrible writing, notably the plot that is not at all legible, goes in about 15 different directions for no reason and in a few areas the scene is completely inconsistent (at one point a character leaves the room to go and buy a phone and literally a minute later he's back in the room without the author telling you he's back or acknowledgement he shouldn't be back yet?) It was just so fucking bad. I have left so many angry notes in my copy of the book.

Anyway yeah I did not at all enjoy, do not read. I love dark romances so much but the only dark thing about this book was my deep seated hatred for this book

Dirty Deeds Indeed

I used to say that I wasn't a fan of Mafia reads. I avoided them like the plague. And then, temptation struck and here I am, reading all the dark and devilish Mafia books I can find.

And I found Little Bird. How lucky can a girl get to find this wonderfully written, exciting and sexy book?

Wren is a woman who has struggled her entire life since her parents died, placing her and her younger brother in multiple foster homes. When Wren aged out, she found the means to get a home and stay a business to keep her and her brother afloat. It wasn't easy. And her brother was always more of a hindrance than a help.

Bane Rivera. I just have to take a moment here and sigh. Bane is one dirty talking, deliciously alpha male. He's the self proclaimed king of coke and pussy. He runs California's most exclusive men's club. And it's a cover for the other businesses he runs.

He and Wren meet when her brother, a runner for Bane, screws up big time. Sparks fly. Words are said. Lust mounts. Wren is looking to fix her brothers mistake, and Bane us looking to get her in his bed.

The chemistry between these two is combustible. This is a very sexy read. Neither Wren nor Bane are cookie cutter characters - they're deep, wounded, multi layered, interesting. The story is action packed - both in the bedroom and on the streets of L.A.

I'm looking forward to the next book in this duo.

This is my first time reading a book by Ash and I cannot wait to read more. But I knew from the moment I read the blurb I needed this book. It was an intense story from start to finish and had my interest in it’s clutches the entire time.

When you think of what a mafia king should act like, think like, be like…Bane Riveria is definitely who comes to mind for me. A complete ruthless, alpha-hole that rules his kingdom (and smex club) without mercy. He didn’t get as far as he has with being a softie.

But here’s the best part. You knows those books that the said ruthless, alpha-hole ends up falling for the fierce, independent woman? And he ends up being a possessive, ruthless, alpha-hole? Yeah, that’s Bane. And I love those types. It gets my heart all pittery. Not to mention other parts. 😉

The story isn’t over yet. Next up is Dagger and a certain FBI Agent. It’s going to be wild. 5 Stars.

My first book by Kally and I freaking loved it.
Bane was strictly business, he wasn't interested in a relationship and is all about running his club and other businesses until Wren came to him for help because of her brother.
Trying to keep her at arm's length.
Wren seeks Bane out to get her brother out of trouble.
The attraction is an inferno.
Can they keep it strictly business?
Will she get her brother out of the mess he's made?
I'd recommend this for any mafia lover.
I can't wait for Daggers story next.

I was very grateful to be sent a paperback arc of this mafia dark romance by the talented Kally Ash. I previously read The Warlord by her so was so excited to jump into more of her mafia writing.

- Mafia
- Dark Romance
- Instant Love
- S*x club owner / billionaire

Bane grew up, wanting to be better. With an abusive father, he was forced to grow up quickly & make something of himself to help take care of himself & his sister independently. This is how he got into the dr*g mafia trade. He did unthinkable things, to get where he was. Now an owner of the exclusive Dollhouse (s*x club), he is a billionaire & seems to have it all. But that partner.

Wren grew up without parents. With just her brother & herself, she worked hard to open up her own dog grooming business & make something of herself. Unfortunately, her brother went the opposite way. He found himself in the bad scene, and when he comes to Wren saying Bane Rivera is going to end him unless he comes up to $50k, Wren only has one option - Offer herself for two weeks in exchange for the debt clearance. What she wasn't counting on, was wanting to stay with Bane after the two weeks are over & also getting sucked into the dark mafia world.

Bane for the first time has something he can't lose, & he will do anything he can to keep her safe. But with enemies from all sides, can he keep Wren to himself as well as safe?

4/5 stars with 4/5 steam. Excited to jump into Little Secrets!!!

Wren Montana will do what ever she can to look after her brother, even though he always makes terrible decisions. Finally he makes a decision that may cost his life so once again Wren takes it into her own hands to try and clear his name. She marches herself right down to The Dollhouse (a gentlemans club) and demands to speak with Bane who is the owner, and the man whom her brother has ticked off. Captivated by her beauty and spark, he decides that he will help her out - in exchange for her to become his *personal* doll.

I must say, it is not a particularly DARK book for those of you that read deeply in the genre, and I did not feel a lot of mafia vibes. The male main character owns the adult club and deals with drugs so he felt more like a.... successful bad guy? Rather than a mafia type.
I found Wren to be a likeable character and I really felt for her and what she had been through and having to constantly take the hit for her brothers silly life choices. She owns a dog wash business which I thought was super cute, and I loved it as a part of the storyline.

This was a super easy read, and I enjoyed the drama and the betrayal.

This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. This story is about Bane and Wren.
Wren is out to take care of her younger brother when he finds himself in a situation that he can not weasel his way out of. Enter are dark and dangerous Bane Rivera. He runs many things in the dark and seedy part of town and is known for being a vey ruthless man. This does not stop Wren though. She is bound and determined to help her brother by any mens necessary. What starts out as a way to get her brother out of the trouble he finds himself in turns into so much more.
As I stated earlier this is my first book by the author and I am looking forward to reading more of her work. She did an amazing job delivering a story that flows really well. The characters are all well written and the plot line intrigued me.

Nice book, around the Belle and the Beast trope. Mafia businessman runs a classy gentleman's club where girls strip and offer various sexual activities. He's also a drugsdealer and one of his dealers has been skimming off the top. His sister tries to save him and upon seeing her, H makes her an offer. Even though she refuses the offer...they do sleep together and fall in love.
Then there is outside drama and betrayal.

All in all, interesting enough. Nice palette cleanser. Just didn't like that it was so instalove.

And safety squad spoiler:

H is in (oral) FMF menage after having been with h
