Erryn's world #5

An Unbound Soul: Part 4: Soul

Rate this book
With his successful attempt at clearing the Dawnhold dungeon almost costing him his life, Peter has sworn off his previous reckless behaviour. With a new brother at home, there's plenty of work to do in the village, and things only get busier when an old friend unexpectedly turns up. Unfortunately, while Peter is living peacefully, Erryn is not doing quite so well, and the consequences will be felt the world over. The fifth volume set in Erryn’s world, and the fourth in the continuing tale of Peter’s adventure.

fun

With his quest completed the guild will no longer let Peter dive the dungeon. So he tries to find other ways to grow. He reunites with his friend and joins fight competitions. While away at one, everything goes wrong. The local dungeon is going crazy and must be destroyed. Turns out what the dungeon core Erryn did to save the world and preserve peace has a price. And it is up to Peter to ensure only Erryn pays it.

This is not a stand alone novel but a smooth continuation of the previous one. The pace, quality, and enjoyment factor are maintained. I. All it was highly addicting and fun. I consumed their series in just a few days. The story stops leaving us with Peter ready to step into Erryn’s shoes as caretaker and I can hardly wait.

This whole series is weird. I initially started it because I wanted to see a different take on the dungeon core genre.
Then book two part one introduced isekai, and I wanted to see how tech would affect a magical world....
Now I'm five books in, the tech stuff looks to have ended, and there is this whole philosophical stuff of not understanding unless you experienced it or some such.

I already had book six as of months ago, so I will read that, but I don't know about the rest of the series.
Not really enjoying this.

The start of this book is basically Peter saying "Boy, I sure was an idiot in the last book." And that basically sets the tone for this book. At least he's slowed down trying to actively blow himself up with out the slightest bit of precautions. The world building is interesting, story is interesting, but the main character is seriously dumb at times and should know/be better. Especially considering stat gains are a thing; he should be a genius and even his wisdom is above average but he sure doesn't act like it.

Changing storyline

This part 4 took a darker turn compared to the previous 3 parts. Consequences of previous actions come to play in critical but not always obvious way. This is a great read and a good continuation of the story of Peter and his new life.
