Have you ever struggled to pull yourself up and out of toxic friendships and situations? Does finding freedom from something or someone holding you back seem impossible? When you experience hardships and face adversity, do you suit up or back down?
The Simple Truth is Shelby's testimony; it's the story of how God came to her rescue time and time again, proving to her that His faithfulness, love, and mercy was all she needed to stand strong against the loss of friends, betrayal, heartbreak, and sudden loss.
She shares raw, personal experiences with her readers in hopes of showing Christian women they don't have to carry shame or guilt, no matter what their pasts look like. Her book is meant to help women see they never face their ugliest battles alone. The Simple Truth will invite you to reconsider your darkest days and count them as joy.
Through thoughtful journal prompts at the end of each chapter, Shelby encourages her readers to reflect on moments in their life when they believed they were abandoned by God, alone in their struggles, and somehow completely left behind all at the same time.
It's a testimony, a journey, and a reclaiming of identity and empowerment.
The Simple Truth is a personal account of Shelby’s journey in understanding God’s work in her life. Her genuine love and passion for Christ comes through the pages as she describes how her relationships and circumstances all drew her to seek God and pushed her into His will for her life. Her healing and growth is a testament to the glory of God in how He takes our darkest moments and uses them for good. The honesty and vulnerability regarding her struggles make the book relatable and real.
This book is a must read, she shares a lot of inspirational experiences that we all battle at sometime in our lives. But might have u wondering am I the only one. Great part of this book is how ur able to have journal prompt, where it allows u to reflect on ur own life and reflect how god has helped u along the way. I love this book!
In my continuous journey of trying to be a good Christian woman, I have learned that as Christians, we should realize that the Bible is fraught with verses capable of reassuring and moving the brokenhearted.
As a starting point, let us consider what we are told in PSALM 34:18 [NLT]: "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed." We need to remember two things about the Lord in regards to a broken heart: [1] "The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth." PSALM 145:18 [NKJV] [2] "He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds." PSALM 147:3 [NLT]
And lastly, let us not forget what the Lord told us in JEREMIAH 29:11 [NLT]: "For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." In her book, author Shelby Lynn York desires to take her readers out of the abyss of their feeling humiliation, self-reproach, or disgrace stemming from their past life experiences resulting in their feeling brokenhearted. Hopefully, by reading this book, her readers will bring an end to their sense of having felt abandonment and/or bewilderment of their history without possessing any knowledge of which life's path they need to take. Unlike other Christian Personal Growth books, I have reviewed. Ms. York's book is an authentic personal testimony of what she had endured in her life, and how thanks to the Lord, she's become a survivor of the trial and tribulations she had been challenged by. Which is likely to be the same as her readers are facing right now. Given the above, as a rather voracious reviewer of Christian books, I'm glad to give Ms. York the 5 STARS she has received from me for her endeavor here. I read this book as an Amazon KU [KINDLE Unlimited] download.
The Simple Truth is a beautiful illustration of Shelby’s testimony as a devoted Christian. With a rocky past before I was saved, I was able to connect with Shelby in many instances while reading this book which made it more exciting to read! Her vulnerability and her honesty really inspired me as I read page by page. I loved that she included journal prompts as a time to reflect after reading her chapters. It’s a must read for sure :)
Fabulous guide to looking in the mirror and finding the You to accept though God's Grace. I would suggest this book to women of all ages and stages in life. A quick well written, thought provoking, honest and hope inspiring read.
