Ruthless MC #3

Griffin: Red and the Big Bad Reaper

Rate this book
RED: Five years ago, I was as boring as boring could be. Seriously, my name was Bernice. But then came that one month when I pretended to be somebody else entirely while working at a roadhouse biker bar….

Big Mistake. Huge. Who knew one month pretending to be an interesting bad girl could ruin a boring good girl’s life?

GRIFFIN: When I saw her, I knew she’d be mine. My old biker crew told me she was untouchable—that I’d never be able to land her without my fame and last name. So I did what any rock star with a big….ahem, ego would under the circumstances—wagered five figures on me seducing the untouchable girl behind the bar.

RED: When the insanely hot biker, who wouldn’t have looked at Boring Bernice twice, asks me to come back to his place, I decide, “why not?”

It was just supposed to be a silly fling….

GRIFFIN: It was just supposed to be a stupid bet. But what started out as fake got plenty real—especially after I lost her.

Five years. I spend five years searching for her. And when I find her….

RED: Five years. I managed to hide from him for five years. He’s powerful and dangerous, and I’m not sure what he’ll do if he discovers the secret I’ve been keeping from him for four years and nine months.

So when he finds me….

What’s this story called again? Escaping the Ruthless Biker?

GRIFFIN: No, that’s not the title.

The story is called Red….Red and the Big Bad Reaper.

And you’re about to find out why.

Okay but felt it was a bit schizophrenic in tone. Unsure if the reader was supposed to see it as dark, romantic, or sweet. It touches on all of that, but doesn't hit the whole mark on either. Not much of a fan of this hero. Also not a fan of major life pivots that would have been solved by one conversation.

I liked this a lot more than her usual revenge plot books.

And I do have a weakness for that whole Celebrity/ Not famous partner dynamic.

Bernice was an interesting heroine, loved that as Red she was able tap into such an exciting part of herself.

And Griffin was actually a bit of a sweetheart?

I’m being very generous with 4 stars here but you all know my weakness for a secret baby and O2 was adorable!

I expected not to like this due to some reviews, and (objectively) it was a bit uneven and had a LOT going on. It went from being a motorcycle club romance to a billionaire romance to a soapy romance. I wanted to shake/smack both characters at times.

But, you know what? I kind of loved it. 🤭 That first proper sex scene really did it for me (another addition to my “kink-all-of-his-weight” shelf, i.e. when he pins her down with his whole body 🥵), there were well-placed angsty pangs, a sprinkling of sugary sweet moments, and lots of soapy drama (but check CWs). Me: ✅✅✅. I immediately re-read some of my favourite parts after finishing this book.

Book 2 in the Ruthless MC Series, and it was more than worth the wait. Theodora Taylor has yet to create a series that I have not loved. She has me invested every book I pick up, and I would have it not other way. This book was spicy, dramatic, emotional, and laced with just the right amount of angst.

Griffin and Red (Bernice) were hot together, and the chemistry was intense between them. Griffin was a sexy and demanding Alpha male. Known as G-Latham who was a country rap star he very little care for anything other than his career and MC. The moment he gets his first glimpse of Red he feels something he can't explain, but does know that there is a jealous feeling about the men near her body.
Red is sexy, intelligent, and tired of living a life that everyone wants for her, but her. The Reapers clubhouse is her chance to be somebody else and get closer to her goal. She turns down every advance from any of the men in the MC. When she meets Griffin she has no clue who he is, but knows she can't be bought even when her body proves otherwise.
Their paths become forever intertwined when a bet is made the night they meet at the clubhouse, and the outcome for both will never be the same.
Lies and miscommunication are what tear them apart, but betrayal and secrets ultimately reunite them. Their story will is one you will not forget!

This is the first book I read by the author and fell in love. The story was amazing although, it frustrated me with unanswered questions but I felt content by the end. Despite mention of characters from other series it's was understandable with short explanations.

The book starts being a hot read when Bernice decides to play the character Red trying to be rebellious. Then it takes an emotional turn, then comes misunderstandings, suspense, secrets all of which make you forget everything expcet for Griffin and Bernice.

Griffin's character growth made me fall in love even more with the biker rockstar. Understanding him was equavalent to falling for him. You can see both their growths through the read.

O2 was my favourite apart from the leads. She was the best of both which made her adorable. I wish there was more of her. Maybe a bonus epilogue set in future of the family (finger crossed).

It's a read that keeps you on edge but makes you love it nonetheless. It can be read as a standalone although it's a part of the series.

I received an ARC copy for a honest review 😊.

I love a TT book so much that I stayed up on a weekday to read it! And as always, it was so worth it. The chemistry between Red (Boring Bernice) and Griffin is instant and while I am not a fan of instalove/instalust- I love a second chance story. It helps understand the emotions that drive the character's behavior. Who hasn't wanted to spice up their lives or do something adventurous? Boring Bernice decides that she is going to quit living her life to please her parents and grandmother (who all died) and start making choices that make her happy, until that choice forces her to return to Boring Bernice. When Grif comes crashing back into her life, she has some explaining to do, and so does he. Can they get it together. TT makes it enjoyable to find out.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

I loved this book! It was really well written, the characters were well-developed and I could relate to the characters. I listened to this book as an audiobook and I could not get enough of it. The narrators really brought the characters to life and the story itself was captivating. This book was action-packed and there were so many unexpected twists. This book was also really hot and the secrets just added to the suspense of the book. This is not my first read by Theodora Taylor and it certainly won’t be my last!

Secret babies trope - that’s why I didn’t hesitate to read this one. As far as the plot and execution of that trope goes - this was bad. Really bad. I think the heroine didn’t actually have reasons to keep the child from the hero and afterwards - the hero didn’t have to use the child as a means to hurt the heroine - those things ruined this book for me. As much as I like the trope - when it’s done badly (I need a valid reason why the father didn’t know the child) it’s the most infuriating thing to read.

So that’s my take on this. But overall - even the love story and relationship between the MCs wasn’t all that believable nor did it make me root for them.

I’d say this failed me on all counts.

Stupid drama that would have been resolved with one conversation written as angst( My favorite genre).
Also the plot was cringe and predictable. Pretty sure the author killed the last two brain cells I had remaining after giving my exam this afternoon.

This is the first opportunity that I have had to provide an ARC for Theodora Taylor. As soon as it presented itself, I clicked yes. I have been a fan of this author and was waiting for Griff & Red’s book.

I previously purchased, read, and loved Waylon (book 1) and could not wait for Griffin’s book. I can say that this book did not disappoint. Griffin and Red are both driven by their past, even if they don’t realize the extent.

The book spans 6 years, but in a way that makes sense. You see their connection and chemistry from the start. It progresses to a near (and unwanted) reunion. Finally, they can no longer outrun their destiny. Their reconnection is not all hearts and flowers. It does however, contain the same spark and allow for healing. Their reunion forces them to face their fears and reconcile their pasts, as individuals and a couple. As a reader, you get to experience the heat, the romance, and the emotions.

While this book is part of a series, you can read as a stand-alone and still be fine. There are references to other couples and characters but even if you haven’t read the books, the author establishes a connection for the reader. For example, I didn’t read any of the Ruthless Triad books and was able to understand the character connections very easily.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. If you are a fan of BWWM stories that showcases hot and swoon worthy romance then this book is definitely one you want to read via KU or one-click!!

Red is tired of being the boring one. She wants some excitement in her life. So when a biker asks her to go back to his place. Why the hell not…

Griff is just bored, his looking for a good time. So when he sees Red he wants her, but his friends tell him it wont happen. So what does he do he bets them that he can land the girl behind the bar. Spending the night with her was suppose to be easy. One night stand and move on, what he didn’t count on was the fact that he wanted more. But that seems to be harder than he thought…

Again, I don’t do rock star books, but this one the rock star wasn’t a douche, lol (well except for the bet thing) I loved Red and Griff, their chemistry was on point. There’s lots of action and a some suspense thrown into the mix, secrets that must come out and a little bit of unexpected twists… My first read of this author, and I want to read the previous two books before the next one comes out 😊

Griffin was a good MC story turned great listen. I loved the narrators and the emotion they brought to the story. Griffin was a bad boy turned straight by the love of woman. I liked the way the author humanized the villains. Everyone has traumas from their past that they bring into their present and these characters are no exception. Miscommunications and deceit happens but sometimes that second chance is just at the perfect time. I would definitely read/listen to The Vengeance story after this.

This was a typical romance story that just takes place between a well known rapper/MC member and a girl trying to figure it all out.

There’s attraction, then time spent together and lies told. Then lies discovered, truths twisted and a parting of ways. Oh and a baby…

Then the baby is discovered, the lies and deception addressed and they move towards their happily ever after.

This is the third in the MC series which I read on my Kindle app.

Oo, La, La! This one right here has all the feels, all the swoons. Clutching my pearls. Fan, fan. The threads of other stories can be a tad confusing but might be enjoyable if one’s read the novels previously. Nonetheless, even as a stand-alone, Griff and Red’s romance is a full throttle roller coaster ride!

Is it love or lust at first sight? Griff and Red knew they had something when they 1st laid eyes on each other. This book takes us on a journey of love, lust and definitely missed opportunities. Can they work thru their misguided point of views and rekindle what the once had? Hit the 1-click button and find out.

Theodora Taylor books are the perfect example of adult books being for adult readers.

I have been trying for a while now to figure out why I don't fully connect with Theodora Taylor's works. She's a solid writer, features Black heroines, unique stories, occasionally over-reliant on tropes but that's forgivable and usually typo free. But there is stuff I just can't connect with and I realized it with this book and the last one: she makes smart women stupid to justify the men being a-holes. For the past few years in her books, her heroines have been getting consistently weaker and dumber through the course of the book.

Admittedly, Griffin was a 1000% times better than Waylon in book one who was just a terrifying, psychopathic, asshat who had done nothing to deserve the power he claimed. But the heroine was such an idiotic weak-willed doormat of a character (until literally the last chapter) that he got away with it. Red in this book was so different.

For 3/5ths of this book Red was GREAT and actually so was Griffin. Red was human and flawed but still strong and sure in herself and she stood up for herself. Griffin was vulnerable with her, still that macho biker stereotype (and trope) but I could understand him as a character and see the potential and I wanted them to overcome it and get together and then, of course the break-up and remaining 2/5ths of the book. Sigh.

I personally hate secret baby books. Hate. Them. I hate them because, on some level, the person who hid the baby is usually the person who becomes in the wrong EVEN IF they are the person who was initially the victim. And that hidden baby is used to justify the other party treating the baby-hider anyway they want solely because they hid the baby even though in most cases they hid the baby because the other party was a douche. It's a cheap out.

SPOILER: Make no mistake, Red was the victim. She was a victim in a way we don't even come to realize until the LAST TEN PAGES OF THE BOOK.

Red gets stupid from the moment Griffin finds her again. You've been hiding from this man for 5 years and your first instinct after literally fleeing isn't to go to your baby's room and sit there from the moment she gets there? She's a smarter character than that and she was dumbed down for a plot device and to justify his UNDESERVED anger. Then the ending was so frustrating! Her final forgiveness is not earned. It's two pages when it should have been 10! Agg! 3/5ths of this book earned 5 stars the rest earned 1.

But again it's a book for adults. Teens shouldn't read any of her books and think it's healthy or real or how relationships should be. It's trashy, fun, occasionally frustrating, fiction that does not and should not represent reality. And I'm going to keep reading it...But I'm dreading Allie's book, there's another secret baby on the horizon, sigh. And she better do right by Persy or I might just have to let this writer go.

Persy was mutilated. Any tattoo that is not 100% wanted is forced mutilation. Persy better not roll over like a dog in heat doormat like Angel or be quick to forgive like Red. Hades better earn her love and not fall on macho a-hole alpha tropes.

Liked the idea and the subtle Red and Wolf but...

This was a yes for me until the last 3rd.
Red Berneice was cool until the reveal on the 5 years 6 years secret came out. Then we was revealed to be another JumpingToConclusions having woman who doesnt just ask for and demand the truth. Just assumes a bunch and hides a bunch.
Also - as much as I love the interconnected stories, I am DAMN tired of everyone being related! Its just not possible. And across 50 states and different timelines and generations. No. I miss the days when the relationships were just acquaintances.
Other than some big end missteps and the need for people to have secret half brother and cousins and aunts and uncles related, i appreciated the story (though too similar to the ANDREW/Roxxy lets pretend we are different people and expect the other to love us and not our secret persona but no way they will love us for us anyway) story. But hey, this series has 50 stories - they are bound to have some similar plots and stories.
But these 2 didnt give me any In My Feels sweet Awww moments. There is only 1 hightlight in the book for me and thats rare, so it must have been bad (for me).
I will always keep trying out Theo's books, but out of 50(coming) Im definitely starting to see later in her series that Im going to hate more than Im going to like of them.

Red is tired of her boring life and is looking for a little fun. That's what makes the bad boy rocker, Griffin so enticing to her. He's so different from anyone she would ever be with and way more than she bargained for.
Griffin is also bored until he see's Red that is. Seeing her, he can just imagine all kinds of the interesting things the two of them could get into and can't wait to get started. It's only supposed to be a one and done fling but after these two get a taste of each other, will one night be enough or will they leave each wanting so much more?
Griffin, book 3 in the Ruthless MC series, is another one of Theodora Taylor's Alpha's that one minute you'll love and the next minute you'll question liked you even liked him in the first place but you'll still be rooting for him to get the girl in the end. These opposites meet and then don't find each other until years later. Of course there are secrets to uncover and passion to explore which makes for a combustible romance that keeps you reading to the very end. I loved it and can't wait until the next ride with the Ruthless MC.

Talk about a roller coaster ride! I think I felt just about every single emotion while reading this. Griffin and Red were a perfect match from the start, wether they realized it or not. Just when I was worried a certain secret was going to come out, that had me on the edge of my seat. Snap- time jumped ahead and led to plot twists I didn’t see coming, which had me reading so fast to see what would happen next! Such a good MC read. I already can’t wait to see what happens next for them all.

their initial time together before time jump was immaculate! after that story became rushed and choppy with characters acting in ways to serve the plot machinations. but once again i will be reading the teased next up stories about vengeance, hades and geoff and dana!

edit: ok after a reread the 2nd part of the story flowed better. maybe i skimmed the explanations the first time idk. but it made more sense so i like the book more

Overall I liked Red and Griff. Their connection was caliente however they did annoy me at some point the the story.

Bernice had no reason to keep a child from its father. Idc if he said he didn’t want kids and a marriage. She didn’t want those things either at the time that was said

Griff is currently gathered around the roadhouse banquet table and bored out of his head. Usually, he can fight it off and a fight is exactly what he is looking for except the rival club wants selfies and autographs instead which makes the club co-president just roll his eyes. Along with being part of the Reaper's MC, Griff hires the club to run security for his shows and why his club name is Rockstar.

His attention is drawn to the bar and he can't take his eyes off the redhead standing on the bar top as she yells that Mama Red Bird was in the house. He watches in shock as all the bikers rush and belly up at the bar with their mouths open as she pours a shot down the mouth of each man and the next line stops forth for their opportunity to be fed by Mama Red Bird.

The waitresses at this no-name roadside biker bar are topless and wearing high cut-off shorts and cowboy boots, but this gorgeous woman is also wearing wings. Cherry red wings that match her hair. And suddenly he is no longer bored. When the bikers return to the table he tells one of them to have her meet him upstairs and they all laugh and tell him that it was never going to happen. So he makes them a bet that he can change her rules...without her knowing he was a celebrity.

Red grew up in the same small town, attended the same church and kept to herself. She was an obstetrician nurse and boring. But, after the death of her grandmother a few months ago she dumped her boyfriend and decided to chase her dreams. And in order to do that she needed money.

When her friend Allie told her about her uncle's bar and how much money she could make, she put her morals aside and became Red, a wicked vixen who smiles, flirts, and entertains the bikers for huge tips. But, unlike the other waitresses she is a don't touch kinda girl and never ventures upstairs. But, when she is approached by the most gorgeous man she has ever seen she decides that maybe just this once she can break her own rules.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. When Griff talks her into not only sleeping with him but spending two weeks with him in his father's cabin they only know each other as Red and Griff. Griff doesn't do relationships, but after spending time with Red he invites her to spend New Year's with him.

But, when she heads towards the address he gave her she stops dead in the road ignoring all the angry drivers honking their horns. Because she is staring at the huge billboard in front of her showing that Griff isn't security for a band, he is the band.

I love Red and Griff! This book is action-packed and smoking hot. This book is full of secrets and misunderstandings and unexpected twists. Even though she knows he has been looking for her, she manages to hide for close to six years until their paths cross again. And Griff finds out the biggest secret of all.

Highly recommend this book!

GRIFFIN : RED + THE BIG BAD REAPER by THEODORA TAYLOR 5/5 ⭐️’s

WOW . WOW WOW WOW . I am normally not a MC trope type of girl but holy bananas Theodora crushed it with this book !

Red (aka Bernice) is looking for something new + out of the ordinary to help distract her from her grandmother passing, her lack luster of an ex-boyfriend + her just overall boring and dull life . That’s how we find her in a MC topless reaper bar with flaming red hair + having to turn every reaper down that sets eyes on her . Until she sees her big bad wolf + her story is no longer boring .

Griffin (aka G-Latham) is a country rap superstar by trade but a MC reaper at heart . With being drop dead gorgeous + a celebrity Griff is used to getting everything he wants easily . He has rules to protect him in both lines of work + he never strays from them . Until he sets his eyes on a certain red headed beauty who has no idea who he is . Now a bet with the reapers to sleep with her has turned into an addiction but constantly avoiding lies is starting to catch up to him .

The best surprise to come with this story is the character we meet called O2 . They are incredibly funny, wise beyond their years + someone who doesn’t have a filter of any kind . One of my new favorite side characters of all time . They are just a true burst of sunshine in a world that is dark + depraved .

Griff + Red have an intense, burning hot chemistry from the very first moment they meet . It’s when reality comes crashing back down to earth that all of the lies + miscommunication are too much for them to handle . What they don’t know is that they need six years, a few betrayals + a shit load of secrets to reunite them forever .

I devoured this book + I am absolutely going back to read about what the rest of the reapers have been doing . I am particularly interested in what Vengeance is up to + if Red will make Griff step in to help even if it goes against the code .

This book was sent to me for honest review by Valentine PR + Literary Management .

This is one book that leaves you smiling

The only thing I wish I did before reading this book, was that I waited a couple more weeks, since the next one is coming out. And now I have to wait a couple more weeks to read about Allie and Vengeance. I'm crying.

But other than that little side note, I really enjoy reading this book. And just like Theodora Taylor other books I love how her other characters all have some type of connections. I love when side characters in stories end up having their own personal story. Not many authors does this which is a bit sad since, as a reader you often become more interested in the side character then the main characters.

I really enjoy reading Griff and Red story. I love how it goes all the way to the beginning on how they met, and not just jumping right into the we're it was left off in the previous books. I love the different sides you see of these two. From thinking Red was boring and finding out that she's not boring at all. Just reserve and taking a step back. But push those right buttons she will come out swinging.

And how Griff is not just about about violence's and getting his own way. He has a heart, but just like the other Reapers, he is not one to mess with. Especially when it comes down to his brothers, love ones, family and his wife. His background story is one that is sad, I really don't understand how people can just leave their kids like that. He's been through a lot and I'm more than understanding as to why he felt more of a brother hood with Waylon and Hades.

Over I really enjoy this book and I cannot wait for the next one to come out in a couple of weeks.

I don't read, or in this case, listen to, a lot of biker romances, but this one isn't the typical biker romance. Oh, it has its share of darkness, and there are some rough and rowdy characters here who have no qualms about crossing lines most of us would never dream of. Then there's Griffin, who is a bit of a contradiction. He has a ruthless side, but he's also sweet and protective, and he has a softer side that's just as sexy as the arrogant biker who can have any girl he wants. And Red? There's just something so tempting about Red's choices. I mean, who wouldn't want to step outside the box they live in and be bold and daring, even if it's just for a little while? We also get to catch up with some past favorites in Theodora Taylor's world. I like the way she handled that - she gives enough explanation, so you aren't lost if you're new to the characters, but it's not so much that it bogs down the story for those familiar with the past stories. Ryan West and Clementine Dove give voice to the characters, and they give a top-notch performance. I've had the pleasure of listening to Clementine Dove before, and she always delivers. She brings the characters to life, and in this case, she gives us all the sass I would expect from Red. Ryan West was new to me, but I'm definitely going to be looking for more of him. That voice is exactly what I wanted from Griffin, and whether he's being cold and calculating or sexy as sin, Ryan West brings it. To sum it up, we have a gritty romance excellently performed. The more I read or listen to Theodora Taylor's work, the more I want. It's so easy to fall into her writing and get lost in the world she's created.
