The princess and the cyborg...

What happens when a Dark Kindred warrior with no emotions is sent to guard a frightened Princess with Fire Blood?

Can James save Ka'rissa from the sinister Duke who wants her dead?

Read Burning for Love to find out!

Ka'rissa is a Princess of the Very First Family, destined to rule all of Regalia Five. Unfortunately, her esteemed lineage comes with a genetic price--she has what is called "Fire Blood" which causes her to overheat so drastically that she is in very real danger of spontaneously combusting and burning to a pile of ashes. But that isn't the only danger in her life--someone is trying to kill her. After a botched assassination attempt, her uncle hires a Kindred warrior to serve as her bodyguard and Constant Companion. Normally, it would be improper for a young lady to have a male so close to her, but in this case it's all right because Sir James, as he is known, is a cyborg with no human emotions.

J-8 is a Dark Kindred who has taken the designation "James" in order to fit in at the Royal Court of Regalia Five. His mission is to guard Princess Ka'rissa until she finds a proper suitor to marry and rule her planet with. The man she marries will "Slake her Heat" and cool the Fire Blood in her veins, which puts her at risk of spontaneous combustion. James knows all this and he also knows he shouldn't care who Ka'rissa chooses as her future mate. But when feelings of protectiveness turn instead to possessiveness, he has to accept the fact that his emotion damper may be broken and he is having feelings for the curvy little female.

As it happens, Ka'rissa is having feeling for James as well. How can she help it when he's so dashing and handsome? When her latest suitor, Duke Grabbington, begins making some very improper advances, the big Kindred rushes to her rescue. But when her Chastity Wire starts giving her problems and James must fight a duel, will their love survive? Or will Ka'rissa be forced to marry another?

She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. What drew me to reading this book was the book cover which is gorgeous and the blurb. While reading this kindred book I really liked the female lead Ka’rissa and her personality. This book is filled with action ediscovery and The male characters James both characters compliment each other and i love how the relationship evolved. Great steamy love scene and a story plot worth reading. I really enjoyed reading this book

You make me burn
The author took us back to the Earth of old with this one. Chastity wires, and courting, and keeping to your rank, but that all goes out the window when a hot and steamy Kindred cyborg presents on the scene for protection. I love that these two unlikely characters found their way to each other and though they may struggle through the process it was worth every moment of heartache. With each book this author writes I find my new favorite one to love and this book was no exception. This book is the perfect book to cuddle up with for hours of reading enjoyment, and I am looking forward to the next book from the author and the next journey to love and HEA.

In her opening, Evangeline Anderson refers to Burning for Love as the princess and the cyborg. We haven’t seen this type of Kindred since the Brides of the Kindred Book 12, Enhanced. I really enjoyed reading another novel involving the Enhanced from Zeaga Four.

Rissa, our princess of Regalia Five, cannot ascend to the throne as queen until the Steward her father left in charge presents her with a male of the First Families that she agrees to marry. The only problem is Rissa has Fire Blood. She, like other ladies of the First Families, can get so heated that they spontaneously combust. Rissa saw her own mother die this way when this Steward would not find her a suitable mate. Add to that Rissa’s total innocence, and her major problem ensues.

Because of a botched assassination, the Steward requested a Kindred Warrior to guard her and be her Constant Companion. James is chosen because he is a native of Zeaga Four. One of his enhancements is an emotional dampener, so he has no emotions at all. Being a Constant Companion is not what I first thought of when I read those words. Finding out what the Steward intended turned out to be something else entirely. The other part of James’s problem is his dampener is gradually failing.

Although the reader is warned in the first chapter that Regalia is much like Earth of the past, only reading about it can the reader understand the culture of the Regalian people. And that culture makes up the third problem.

I wholly enjoyed this novel. Every time the reader thinks everything is going to work out, something else gets in the way. Ms. Anderson’s famous steamy scenes do occur, but there’s also a journey of discovery until the very last chapter. I loved going on this journey with Rissa and James. I must also admit at times I was upset that this one might not work out. But, No Spoilers! You just need to read this one for yourself. Burning for Love is absolutely a keeper!

Ka'Rissa has "fire blood" and needs someone to protect her from assassination attempts. J-8 is a Dark Kindred cyborg that has been sent to protect her, he has no emotions so it's no improper for him to be with the princess all the time. However, it seems his emotion damper is on the fritz and perhaps his heart isn't as guarded as he initially thought. He has to help Ka'Rissa learn to navigate some untruths she's been taught all her life and by doing so, he becomes close to the princess. J-8 is the only person Ka'Rissa feels she can trust, and finds she has feelings for the Dark Kindred cyborg, but she has to find a suitor to "slake her heat" and has been told she must choose from certain suitors, but she doesn't want any of them. The two of them have to deal with nefarious members of her royal court to try to keep Ka'Rissa safe and make her Queen.

I just love the sense of humor that Evangeline Anderson puts in her books. I found this one to have an extra dose of humor in it with the names of certain characters such as Mrs. Mildew, and Mr. Grubbington. Upon reading the book, you will understand why their names fit their characters. I also enjoy the fun little trip to other worlds that often remind me of a whimsical Suess world at times, all the while we have a strong Kindred hero that feels and protects strongly as well as cherishes their females. I thoroughly enjoyed this book that took us to space, but made us feel that we were also in an old English court. A story I had a hard time putting down and as always, I wanted more when I reached the last page as I didn't want to leave my new 'friends'.

Burning For Love: Kindred Tales #36-Evangeline Anderson

This story brings back “The Dark Kindred”, a race of kindred that are part machine and were grown in a vat, Cyborgs. They were trained to deny emotions and even punished for them. There is even a special emotion damper to suppress having feelings.
James is purposely sent to guard a princess on a planet the kindred may trade with. The supervisor, Sylvan, believes because of his lack of feeling James is perfect for the job.
The world the author has created resembles that of around the 17th century where women wore corsets and people of the court wore white powder on their faces and white wigs.
The princess Rissa has “fire blood” which can cause her to self combust if she does not take a mate to “slake” her heat. With no proper suitors, relatives trying to set her up so they can control the throne, and her heat about to appear , Rissa is running out of options.
James her new guard/companion is there to protect and assist her, even with bathing. Rissa comes to have feelings for James and he realizes his damper is failing.
Not only does James need to rescue Rissa, but they have to figure out a way to save her from combusting and a way to stay together.
This is an exciting new world the author has created that brings on many challenges for the heroine and hero to overcome including saving their hearts and love. A great adventure with all the romance,h*tness and sizzling sexual scenes the author is famous for, within an exciting page turning adventure!

Wonderful addition in this series, captivating characters and plot
This was a riveting read learning all about the Princess and her very special blood and the fact that her family had been the first rulers on Regalia Five. She is being guarded by a Kindred warrior after an attempt was made on her life unsuccessfully, he is sa cyborg and is supposed to have no human emotions.

James “J-8” is caring for the princess until she finds someone, she can have by her side to rule the planet with and to also keep her heat in check by allowing it to be slaked, however as the search is on for her mate James realises that he is not as unbothered as he should be in fact he has a great deal of feelings for the beautiful, curvy female.

As the feelings between both James and Karissa grow and become harder to hide, the begin to realise that they really do not want to actually keep their feelings under wraps, they have nothing to be ashamed of. Then when things come to a head with her latest suitor James has to make a monumental decision which will bring their feeling out into the open, he has to fight a duel.

Will their hearts and love survive, will he be able help her when her Chastity Wire starts to give her problems.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

An enlightening and entertaining mix of futuristic enhancements with old world repressive beliefs in regards to women being delicate of body and mind so a man must lead and guide their way.
Welcome to Regalia Five, where women are not made to understand how to regulate the Fire Blood within them to stop from self incinerating.
Ka'rissa is this planet's soon to be Queen. A failed assassination attempt prompts her uncle to hire a Dark Kindred, James as a bodyguard and constant companion knowing that he is a non emotional Cyborg and won't besmirch the virginal princess's reputation.
This arrangement is to end once Ka'rissa chooses a consort and ascends to the throne
A friendship becomes more as the princess and her body guard discover how mind and body experience passionate feelings for each other.
Power, prestige and wealth are a heady combination for the greedy and jealous few who would not like a female to rule the planet.
Can deception keep James from rescuing Ka'rissa in time or will they never discover what happiness true love brings?

One of my favourite pleasures for the month is to delve into a new instalment from the talented Evangeline Anderson and be thrown into another wonderous world full of romance, love, friendship and anything else in her imagination.
This story revolves around Ka’rissa, a princess of the Very First Family from Regalia Five. Unfortunately for Ka’rissa it’s not a very nice world. She has someone out to kill her, an uncle wanting to marry her off to someone either twice her age or young enough to be a little cousin. Luckily for Ka’rissa the goddess has other ideas.
J-8 is a Dark Kindred who has came to Regalia to be Ka’rissa’s bodyguard. J-8, or James once he arrives on Regalia is perfect for the position. He is part Cyborg and has a emotions damper which means there is no chance of him falling in love with the princess.
As we all know, love has a way of beating all odds and that’s where the story begins to get steamy. The real fight will be to keep Ka’rissa alive long enough to realise that she has fallen for James as much as he is smitten with her.
This was a beautiful story.

This is one of those stories where I can not decide if the hero is a virgin or not.
He has never done anything, even kiss, with a living being. However he has visited the “pleasure house” and had sex with a sex-bot. He found it “pleasurable”. When he meets the princess he tells her “I, myself, have had very few interactions with females.”
So… I will assess him as a virgin but… I am not 100% on board.

I have a soft spot for the Kindred stories. These and Michelle Pillow’s shifters were my first taste of alien romance/erotica (usually with a virgin hero) that I am now addicted to.
However…
You read 50 of these and you know how this is all gonna go. And I am especially sick of “The Goddess” chiming in to save the day.

So my review is… if you have read every book up to this one, you know what you are going to get so make your own choice. If you are thinking of trying Kindred for the first time, this one is a pretty good one, go for it.

Virgin rating:
Innocence of virgin hero: 2/5
Innocence in losing it: 2/5
Build up to losing it: 4/5
Hotness of losing it: 4/5
Busted touching himself: no
POV of losing it: both

I was too impatient to wait for the next Kindred book, Kindred Book #30, so I picked up one of the Kindred Tales books. The book I'm currently editing is similar to this one with a princess and her bodyguard, so I thought it might help me with my own novel.

Princess Ka'rissa has a condition that if she doesn't orgasm, she'll burn up...literally into flames. However, because Regalia 5 society is misogynistic, she has no idea that she needs to orgasm to "slake her heat". Rather, she is told she desperately needs a husband to "slake her heat".

James, formerly J-8, is a Dark Kindred whose emotion damper is failing him. At the very beginning of the book, I thought to myself how will this guy be interesting? He seemed like such a blank slant. But it's always fun to see the Dark Kindred "discover" emotions. I do wish we got more of a backstory for James because all the Kindred heroes start to blend together. (I don't really care, but they do all have similar personalities.)

It's late at night, so this won't be such a good review. I (correctly) suspected that the Steward wasn't trying his best to renounce his throne to Ka'rissa as it didn't seem like he was finding suitable potential husbands for her or her mother. Maybe I've read so many books at this point because I don't think it was that obvious (so not the author's fault), but I correctly guessed that

I wish the "Lady Whistledone" character (Evangeline admits to being inspired by Bridgerton) was revealed, though I suspected it to be Lady Manderly's maid.

Kindred type: Dark Kindred whose DNA has been mixed with both Beast and Blood Kindred (so mating fist & fangs)

Yes, omg yes 💖💖🔥🔥 to Dark Kindred!!!!

J-8 or James is a Dark Kindred so he's basically a cyborg a tall dark deadly gorgeous sexy cyborg😍😍😍😍 his mission is to guard the princess Rissa from assassination until she's finds a mate and becomes queen of her people. Her planet is like earth but from the Regency period but with access to technology. James has been asked to be her do stand companion because he will not allow feelings to involved because he is Dark Kindred. Rissa being from the royal family is special her line goes into heat and if it is not slaked she will combust into ashes. The minute James sees her his reaction is visceral he knows something is wrong with his emotional damper but just do his duty. Rissa has been dreaming of the big kindred for months but I owe she can never have him. She .hey stay chaste until she marries. Their attraction is immediate and consuming. James doesn't like the way women are treated on this planet and tried to help Rissa understand her histiry, her body and in the process they both fall helplessly in love. But like any royal court their is jealousy danger and corruption at every turn. You must read to find in this this fabulous couple get their happily ever after! It's soooo good!🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖💖🔥💖

I enjoyed reading 📚this book very much. Some I lost this book first I was reading 📚this book by accident when I had problems within my tablet with not a stuff memory in my tablet and I didn't know I had run of memory on a late date and so on Kate year and time I read Burning for love 💘 again, I think I only got to read half of the book.
I would like to read more about Godness subjects massage that would help with passing on to the Kindred warrior from the Godness her self.
I would like to read more books 📚 about history time period that seem to come life my my author who we written the book for further audiences like Evangeline Anderson writing has Lady Tittle Tattle. I would love 💘to read about Lady Tittle Tattle again with her bread crumb paper and to back to time like Brigeton. I think Evangeline has got a book in the making of two books 📚 from me. I giving idea 💡 to authors. I like the title very much I like the characters names to James and Karissa.
I also now think that I would also like to read more books 📚 about further hero's that are Lady's than Men Hero's I think in the future their should be equal moment's of them in books 📚.😀
I liked chapter 59 the best. I read a second book about Princess Karissa and James. I feel like they should be a book 2.

I love and enjoy a lot of Evangeline Anderson's Kindred-verse books - ridiculous plots and character names included. This was just too much - the main driver of the plot (smutty romance) is that the FMC will overheat combust (literally) if she doesn't have sex. Okay, sure, normal amount of silly ridiculousness. BUT then we learn that normal things that cause you to heat up - being in crowded rooms, exercise like dancing, also contributes to her overheating. And everyone including the FMC and every other character except the kindred thinks it is totally normal for her to choose to dance and party and not leave the room to cool off and basically die because it's 'proper'/part of their culture.

I just can't read about a woman who doesn't want to preserve her own life. An extreme example of tstl. Maybe it won't bother you as much and you will enjoy it - I couldn't get past the first few chapters.

Another great read!

J-8 is a Dark Kindred and because of this he feels no emotion of any kind due to an emotion dampening implant. Commander Sylvan sends him to Regalia to be a bodyguard for the Princess Karissa. Rissa has "fire blood" that causes her body to overheat so she has marry in order for the hubby to "slake her heat". James as J-8 is now known as is to be her guard plus companion which means he's to undress her n bathe her! James starts to realize his dampening implant isn't functioning properly because he gets angry when an ol' lecherous Duke Grabbington(isn't that a great name? Lol)tries to take advantage of Rissa. I honestly laughed out loud at some of the conversation James and Rissa have. This is now one of my favorite Kindred Tales book! I do hope you will give it a chance. Ik you will enjoy it too! Thanks, Fate 🙂

Regency would not be my go to in the romance genre. Putting it on another planet made it a whole lot of fun. This author could never disappoint me, her imagination is crazy good.
This Kindred has enhancements-Cyborg style. He's also from a place where feelings and emotions are dampened, so what are these strange thoughts he's having. Before he can get checked out he's off on a mission to protect a princess. The princess must get married and finding a suitable suitor proves difficult or does it really, much more is going on. She has fire blood and runs the risk of becoming ash without a mate.
Such an entertaining story, hilarious in parts and danger in other. The Goddess makes her appearance to try and save the day.
A brilliant addition to this series, I loved every moment.

Burning for Love

Oh a planet where women are not treated as equals and are told many lies to keep them in line, Princess Ka'rissa is forced to wear an awful electronic chastity belt designed to keep her from touching herself in order to prevent the heating cycle from making her combust in flames. Tired of the ice baths, the chastity belt and the insufferable old men and young boys hoping to marry her and stop her heat cycle, Ka'rissa is scared she will die before the Steward picks someone she is willing to marry. The Steward asks Commander Sylvan to send someone to protect her after an assassination attempt. Things do not go as planned and devious plots are revealed. What an exciting book!!

This one bugged me quite a bit. The way the chaperone treated her was so outside the pale. I don't understand why the royal princess would just submit to that. Why didn't she speak up for herself and say I'm going to be the queen soon and at that point you will be faced with consequences for your treatment of me. Also why does she permit the chastity device be put back on after her bath each night? Why not just punch the old woman in the face? It's so horrible and she just takes it all. I can't countenance it. Even if she's very naive and uniformed about certain things, if she's supposed to be queen she can't be that much of a doormat.

The first Kindred story I've read, and it was pretty interesting. This was an attack on the patriarchy, big time.

The world of the heroine (Princess Ka'rissa) is a steampunk sort of Regency England, where women have minimal rights, are sexually repressed and are kept in a state of ignorance about their bodies.

A big part of the story hinges on the hero (James) helping Rissa break free of the stifling social conventions that are literally risking her life.

The MC's are sweet, work together to defeat the baddie, and instigate social change to elevate women's rights to boot.

This book contains multiple steamy love scenes.

As usual the Kindred series doesn't disappoint. This was a fantastic addition to the series. Enlightening and entertaining mix of futuristic with old world repressive beliefs made for a intriguing read. I honestly laughed out loud at some of the conversations between James and Rises. This has now become one of my favorite of the Kindred tales. Can't wait for more books in this series. First I just want to say, this author has never written a book I didn’t like. I mean, the stories are fantastic! The plot line was sexy and fun and overall I loved the book. BUT… As I was reading it, the storyline felt repetitive. So if you have read a lot of books by her (I’ve read them all as they are that good.) it will get predictable at a point. So while I loved it, I was disappointed that I knew what was going to come.

One word...amazing! I loved this book so much, mostly because the author managed to successfully twist two worlds into one. She made Bridgerton meet Sherrilyn Kenyon and it's fantastic. I would re-read this book, which says a lot. I'm the kind who usually doesn't re-read anything because I remember every book I read, but this one, I would definitely do again. Hats off to EA for a wonderful novel! Sci Fi romance doesn't get much more creative than this. I recommend anyone who loves a good read to try this one out for sure!

This story features a Dark Kindred with a faulty emotion damper and the Princess he has committed to protect. While the story was predictable, it was a fun read as James and Ka’rissa met and fell in love. As with all of Ms. Anderson’s stories, there was a mix of intrigue, danger and romance with authentic guaranteed happy ending.

I really loved this story. Amazing world building and characters.. Ka'Rissa and James chemistry was off the charts. I loved the mix of old world and modern. I really loved the development of both characters essentially exploring new aspects if themselves that they never experienced before Ka'Rissa with her sexuality and James with his emotions. It was a great read that had me sucked in and I can't wait for the next.

A dark kindred and a princess of another world!

A dark kindred is sent on a mission to guard a princess whose life has been threatened. The princess also has what is called fire blood that if not controlled can cause her to burst into flames. The dark kindred has had no feelings throughout his life, but thinks that his dampener is starting to malfunction just before he leaves the mother ship. You will have to read the book to find out what all happens to the both of them.

2 1/2 stars..I don't know how people liked this. The plot- very thin, the Stewart didn't want to give up the throne. The heroine - an innocent girl who does everything she's told, no thinking for herself. Hero a cyborg who's almost as bad as the heroine. I tried to read it but half way through I couldn't anymore the whole time I wasn't intrequed or interested enough to keep reading this historical want to be with a touch of space added. I'm so over it.

The Kindred stories are always so unique and romantic. You know the Kindred males will protect women and when it comes to that special one the goddess have chosen for them they will face even death for her. James is our hero but Rissa is the one to save his heart. A dark kindred with no emotion will protect a Princess and change her life.

I loved the story. I really dislike mysogynistic men so that covers that whole planet. Loved the ending! Good girls and guys win! The Goddess comes through again. I've been burning for love a time or two but this is a whole new level of heat. Thanks for another good one Evangeline❤❤
