Short stories are in trend these days. There are some beautiful collections of stories by various authors or a single author. I have enjoyed many such gems on kindle. I picked up Six Petals: A Collection of six short stories. I must say, I haven't read such amateurish and poorly edited work for a long time. Stories are nuanced though they lack the depth of a seasoned author, and the spelling and editing are a turn-off. It's a collection of six stories, and it took me two days to finish this book since I am not in the habit of leaving a book halfway. "When, for the first time, Venkhaya saw the temple of Lord Venkateswara temple." Shastry, Harsha. Six Petals: A Collection of Amazing Six Short Stories that will take you to an Emotional Ride. (p. 33). Kindle Edition.
"Venkhaya managed to secure his place as the soul beggar" (Probably the writer means sole) Shastry, Harsha. Six Petals: A Collection of Amazing Six Short Stories that will take you to an Emotional Ride. (p. 34). Kindle Edition.
"Deepnath, the old cunning, and clever colonel, lifted himself with great difficulty and hugged his son and whispered with tears in his eyes, "I knew my son is a hero." (The sentence here is challenging to understand. The use of the word cunning is not appropriate to describe the quality of the colonel) Shastry, Harsha. Six Petals: A Collection of Amazing Six Short Stories that will take you to an Emotional Ride. (p. 40). Kindle Edition.
The author thought in Hindi and wrote in English, which is why the writing looks unconvincing and problematic to latch on to. If I have to review in one word, it would say disappointing.
