High in the Utah mountains, dragon Seth feels like his brothers and his cousins are all one step ahead of him. They're smarter or more useful or stronger... When his youngest brother Samuel takes a mate who shares some of Seth's interests. his isolated life improves. and he hopes against hope that his mate is coming soon. But after Justin's twin chooses another, Seth decides he's destined to be alone.
PI Beau Harden has always felt a strong pull to the mountains, so when he's sent to investigate the whereabouts of a missing scholar, he's happy to explore. He heads way up into the Uintahs, and finds far more than he bargains for in a sanctuary for a certain dragon family, and in Seth. He can't resist the way Seth makes him feel, but he's not sure if can convince Seth he's the guy for the job.
Seth wants to believe that Beau is the one for him, but he's not sure if it's real or if what he wants is just wishful thinking. Will Beau get to the bottom of this mystery?
Minerva Howe is the kinky alter ego of author Julia Talbot. Julia lives in the great Southwest, where there is hot and cold running rodeo, cowboys, and everything from meat and potatoes to the best Tex-Mex. A full time author, Julia has been published by Samhain as well as other publishing houses. She believes that everyone deserves a happy ending, so she writes about love without limits, where boys love boys, girls love girls, and boys and girls get together to get wild, especially when her crazy paranormal characters are involved.
I liked it. Seth deserves his happy ending, and seeing how he presents was also a fun twist (that was kind of evident based on how he's portrayed but also never before thought of so it does slip by). In the midst of it all, this is the less harrowing of the series, but the one where we get the most child shenanigans. Seth being the designated babysitter and the preferred uncle of most of the babies. I have my suspicions on who will be the mate for Zeke, and if I'm right then the next book is bound to be interesting.
Seth is a real sweetheart. All the dragon babies love him, and he loves all of them. He's just afraid that he'll never find his own mate, and he's hiding that he's not an alpha. But then there's Beau. Their meeting was definitely not a meet cute. In fact, Beau actually shot Seth. But they obviously fixed up that misunderstanding.
I'm so glad that Seth got his own mate and his own story. He definitely deserved one. He has such a loving heart. Beau definitely has a loyal heart, and he is very protective too.
So, in this latest addition, we have Seth. Seth has been keeping a secret from his brothers & cousins, he is not an Alpha & he feels like they would not accept him once they find out. He also doesn't think he will ever find his mate. His hoard is crystal's & precious metals that he finds by the lake. They sing to him. While looking for crystals, he meets Beau, though it didn't go as planned. Beau is a PI who has been hired to find the twins. His initial meeting with Seth doesn't go so well & something happens. Beau & Seth quickly realize that are meant to be together. I love the kids, they are awesome, kind & loving. They are such a close-knit family. I can't wait for Zeke to claim his mate, he so deserves his HEA.
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest opinion.
What an absolutely beautiful story about finding your family and being loved for who you are. Seth and Beau has a rocky start but soon find their way to becoming family. Beau is confused with everything and Seth is trying to hind part of himself. It takes them both to have each other’s backs.
Seth finally gets a happily ever after! He so deserves it after being the quiet yet fierce protector of the babies. While Seth and Beau's meet-cute was anything but romantic, Beau adapted to the dragon clan fairly quickly. I loved how all the babies adored both Seth and Beau and the introduction of a few new characters with hopefully potential storylines.
Let me start by saying, if you haven’t read the first four books in this series, do that first! I loved this entire series and was extremely excited to read Seth and Beau’s story. If I had to describe this book in one word it would be “Chaos.” But the best kind. Now that the family has gotten so much bigger, when you add together the adults, all the children, and their animal guides it’s is 100% chaos and Minerva Howe does an amazing job of translating that to the page. Even though I’ve read the series and knew who was who, I sometimes still had to reread a page when everyone was together. I loved Beau and Seth together, their story is perfect. It’s low angst, steamy, found family, dragon shifters and much more. I’m so ready for Zeke’s story! 3.5/5 🌟
Not a standalone! I was very much confused about when it came to differentiating between which mate and which child belonged to which couple. I found that the book was heavy in dialogue and lacking in description/detail. For the most part, it felt like the kids and their dialogue took over the whole book. I found Seth’s character to be kind of weak and the leader of the dragon clan (forget his name) to be super domineering. Beau fell into the background because everyone else took over the plot of the story. It was chaotic and hard to follow.
*ARC provided by Gay Romance Review, and I have given my honest and voluntary review.*
I adore Minerva Howe's Dragon Veil series, I always look forward to the next one, hating how long it takes to be published. This was no exception, probably my favorite of all the books so far - Seth and Beau are adorable and the dragon babies are the icing on my dragon-y cake, that !
What keeps this from being a complete 5 star read for me is: 1) Chapter 18 has a change in POV between Beau and Seth that wasn't evident until I was halfway into Seth's part, so I was confused for several paragraphs
2) The occasional switch between 3rd person POV and 1st person POV:
Both of those are minor editing issues.
Side note, which doesn't affect my rating of the plot but just annoys me so MUCH (possible spoiler so I'll hide it): *gets up onto soapbox*
Seth is a snow dragon who was happily living with his cousins and brothers. As he watched brothers and cousins settle down with newly found dragons and start families, he starts to long for one of his own. He has been keeping a secret from his family. He is an omega dragon and he wants an alpha of his own. Seth loves cooking, taking care of the babies and crystals. His hoard is made of special crystals that sing to him. One day he is out looking for crystals to add to his hoard, when he sees an intruder who got through the wards. Desperate to protect his family, he starts to turn into his dragon. The intruder is scared and shoots him. Luckily his family comes to the rescue. Seth is torn by his feelings for Beau the intruder. He is worried that Beau would hurt his family but he is also drawn to him. His dragon is definitely interested in him. Could Beau be a dragon without even knowing it?
Beau is a PI who was hired to track down two missing twins who were last seen near this mountain. One of their employers were really worried about them. He runs into an unusual man on the mountain and things happened fast. Now he is being restrained after being told he shot the beautiful man. Beau has stumbled across some things he never expected. He has found the twins but they have no interest in leaving. Beau is wondering if they are being held against their will. When he sees only men and babies, he also starts to wonder if they have woman caged up in the caves. Then he starts learning the truth is much wilder than he could ever dream. Beau is in over his head but Seth is there to help him find his way
*4.5* This series is perfect for anyone who loves to enjoy fated mates, dragon shifters, instalove and mpreg. Snow Dragon sees Seth finally meet his mate, though not under the best circumstances.... Beau's introduction to the world of shifters and dragons may not be the most pleasant but it does not take long for him to become enamored with Seth and the sense of family that he feels around the other dragons and children. Seth is so deserving of a mate, constantly putting others before himself and helping out anywhere he's needed but has been feeling a sense of loneliness while three others have found their mates. Beau is a wonderful match for him, understanding his love he has for the children and looking after them whilst also taking the time to love on him and know how much he loves him just for himself. This has a very quick turnaround between initial meeting and getting together but it flows well with the story and fits with the rest of the series. I love how Beau fits in with the whole clan, once they come to trust him and welcome him to the family. I think the children are the ones that steal the show though, all with such entertaining and strong personalities. There's also a possible hint at a mate for Zeke, the last man without a mate as well as John, Beau's friend from his life pre-dragons, stumbling into his own life changes. Definitely another hit in this series, a must read and I'm excited to wait on the final book in this series. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review
I always love heading back to the Dragon Veil universe to spend time with the Dragon Sanctuary family and Seth and Beau’s story was no exception.
Seth has always been the people pleaser in the family, watching over the babies, cooking food and generally giving as much of himself to others as he can, even when it stretches him thin. He hoards crystals and precious stones and when he was out collecting some one day, he runs into Beau, a PI who got past their wards while searching for Brandon and Justin. Beau finds way more than he bargained for - a new way of life, a mate and a family to finally call his own. Even though they had a rocky start, Seth and Beau quickly realize they’re meant to be together - finally someone for sweet Seth!
I thought it was interesting that Seth chose to hide something that was such a big deal from his family for so long, but really loved how easily they all accepted him and Beau being together. They really were good for each other - Seth making Beau part of the family and Beau helping the others to see how valuable Seth was to the family. There’s so many babies at this point and I love seeing all of them together and bringing in each new member of the family - Stella and Beau’s and Seth and Kiefer’s connections made me smile. So sweet!
Really can’t wait for book 5 in this series! The little teases of Zeke and Gareth weren’t enough - is it October yet?!
Beau is a private investigator, who was hired to find Justin and Brandon - twin brothers from previous books - who'd disappeared without a word. When he ends up piercing the veil of the dragon's mountain, he encounters Seth. In protective mode, he immediately goes after Beau, but ends up injured and Beau is knocked unconscious. Beau awakens to discover he'd shot Seth, and he's restrained. Zeke is none too thrilled and wants to eat him. Finding ways to leave end in futile attempts. But he 's unable to shake the feeling that Seth means something to him. The desire to protect this man. He agrees to leave only if he can see the twins are safe and speak to Seth (and secretly conspire to take Seth). Zeke continues to run interference. Adrienne has seen the importance of Beau remaining on the mountain. Seth he wasn't what he seemed. Mating with Beau would reveal this. Fear kept him in his own head, but his mate was willing to protect him at all costs. Being such a nurturer, wanting to help everyone-the support of his mate allowed him to think of his needs and not feel guilty about it. Beau's transition into a dragon was faster, and smoother than I expected. His need to protect his family, seemed to have made a difference.
Filled with love, romance, babies, lots of steam, and more characters- familiar and new.
**I received this ARC via Gay Romance Reviews for my honest feedback.**
My sweet little Sethypoo. I am so happy he finally found his mate. Out of all the dragons, Seth seemed to be the one who longed for his mate the most. Speaking of meeting his mate, they had quite the crazy meet cute. Talk about a bad first impression. Thankfully, it doesn't take long for Seth to realize Beau isn't a danger to him or anyone else. In fact, Beau just might be the man, or should I say dragon, he's been waiting for.
As usual when the mates get dropped into the reality that dragons exist it takes some time to organize the crazy. Beau is no different. He needs a bit of time to wrap his head around everything. It doesn't help that he has a buddy back home who decides its a great idea to go looking for his missing PI friend. That storyline certainly turned out different than I was expecting.
Seth and Beau were very cute together. As is the norm for this group of dragons, the courting happened really fast along with the baby. I also loved seeing all the little ones and their personalities starting to grow. Next up is ZEKE!!!! The eldest of the group is finally going to get his mate. And here's a little secret. We meet him in this one! But that brief encounter wasn't enough to spill the beans of who he is to Zeke just yet. I cannot wait until he figures it out!
Seth is not sure he will ever meet his mate. His brothers and cousin have found theirs, leaving Seth feeling as if he will always be alone. At least he will have Zeke. Then Seth finds someone trespassing and the man has a gun. Beau Hardin is a PI and is investigating the disappearance of a scholar. He travels high into the Uinta Mountains because he feels drawn to the area. He finds Seth but he is not sure he can convince him that Beau is his one true love. After all he did shoot him.
Minerva Howe is a gifted writer who makes all her stories unique and exciting. The babies in many ways make the story. They are such fun and say the most incredible things. Their animal guardians take t hier job seriously to the point of attacking a stranger. The love everyone shares is incredible and makes for fantastic reading. This family works as a team and everyone helps out. Seth and Beau did not a smooth path to their happily ever after. They had to work for it which made them appreciate their love even more. Zeke needs his story which cannot come soon enough. This one enjoyable series and if you enjoy MM and mpreg and have not read this series, you are truly missing out.
Beau is a private investigator for the university hired to find Brandon and Justin and to make sure that they are okay as they have fallen off the grid. He first encounters Seth and although theirs is not a meet cute it does not take long for them to realize that although Beau came looking for the twins, what he found was love and a mate in Seth, who had despaired that he would not find love and family like his brothers and cousin. Beau also finds things he never expected to, including his dragon, family and home - something he has never really had. Seth is so sweet with the babies and so supportive of his family that it was nice that he found love and support that helped him fully embrace what makes him different from the other dragons in his family. This is such a loving positive story that drew me in and kept me up way past my bedtime. I had to finish it in two sittings. I can't wait for Zeke, the leader of their family, to find his love as well. I am loving this series. I received an ARC from GRR for an honest review.
I love these dragons and their found family of new dragons and babies and familiars and wolves and fae and….yeah you get the idea. This is such a delightful series and I am not surprised that Seth’s book hit just the right note. He and Samuel and Zeke are my favorite of the dragon family. Beau had no idea what he was getting into when he came looking for a set of missing twins. He accidentally stumbled into his new family, if only he can get Zeke to forget how he first made his presence known. Seth has been the sweet one, the one who takes care of the babies and bakes the goodies in the kitchen. He has secretly been worried about what his brothers would think of him if they knew he was not an alpha like them. I have to say though that the book I am looking forward to the most is Zeke’s. I seriously want our fabulous Utah dragons to meet the wonderful Colorado dragons at some point. (Hint. Hint.)
If you love family, kids, and familiars fighting to defend the family circle you can't go wrong with this 4th Dragon Sanctuary book. Seth is the gentlest dragon, the caregiver, the watcher of the children but Seth is lonely. He wants a mate but doesn't believe it will ever come to pass. But Fate has plans. Seth and Beau meet or discover the other under threatening circumstances. Beau is a PI looking for Brandon and Josh who stumbles upon Seth while Seth is in search of crystals and gems. Seth can't believe how Beau got past the protective wards, but Seth knows he must protect his family, so he roars into attack mode which results in Beau shooting Seth. The discovery of Beau's true nature startles this dragon group. Besides Beau being introduced to this series we also have PI John making his lst appearance. This was a satisfying read with a HEA and the hint of what's to come in the next book (hint: Zeke).
Sweet Seth solves his solitude. Seth, is happy his brothers are finding their mates and starting their families. He thought his was here, but not yet, maybe never. He is accepting of the idea that he may not have a mate and may spend his life without a mate. Private Investigator, Beau is hired by a college and sent on a mission to find Brandon and Justin, who was last seen at the base of the mountains. Seth, was feeling a bit insecure and under appreciated. He needed gentle handling. The babies are absolutely adorable. Excellent flow. The characters are well developed and the family dynamics are fun, soothing supportive and inclusively embracing. Did Seth ever find out how Beau got across the wards? Does Zeke get to eat Beau? Do they figure out how to explain Brandon's and Justin's relocation? Does Beau escape taking Seth with him? Excellent story. I absolutely adore this family. I don't like the stories ending. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book is phenomenal! It’s finally Seth’s turn to find his mate and it is one heck of a tale! It will start with Beau showing up looking for Justin and Brandon and he and Seth will not have a good first meeting as his presence will scare Seth and make him worry about the babies. It will take some time for Zeke to warm up to Beau but Seth knows that Beau has been sent for him. The two will find their way together slowly as Beau needs time to wrap his mind about the truth he will find out about himself. The arrival of someone looking for Beau will cause Seth a bit of stress but soon, Beau will ease his mind. Things will go well for the whole family as Seth and Beau figure out a way to be not only what the family needs them to be but a way to be what they need for each other.
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
Wow! So, Seth and Beau meet with a BANG! Literally! Only poor sweet Seth would finally meet his perfect only to be shot by him! Loved how Seth pouted about this! Seth has always been the caretaker of his dragon family, but he has kept it a secret from the that he is not an alpha. He is insecure about telling them about it and he is feeling dejected about ever finding a mate of his own. Loved all the protectiveness rolling off Beau and Seth for each other! They a bit of a complicated romance but it was sweet and fun with all the dragon kids around too! I read an arc and I am ready for Zeke's story! I recommend reading this series in order as the romances are standalone, but the family grows and carries from book to book!
This is a fun story if you love dragons, fated mates and the omegaverse! I really liked Seth’s character-he starts the story as this sweet, almost naive character who is in this dragon clan without a mate. He’s become the unofficial babysitter, baked goods maker and being the go to for all the little kids in the clan, leaving little to carve out for himself. And there isn’t a resentment but a little of “when will be be my turn?” In comes Beau who has a crazy introduction into this clan. Beau’s character has such a good dynamic with Seth and the caring mate he needs. The kids are a hoot in this story and the other characters are pretty interesting. The set up for Zeke’s story seems very interesting-he seems like such a tough character that I’m interested in seeing him get his HEA. I received an ARC for this story and this is my honest and fair review.
A PI, Beau, looking for brothers Justin and Brandon signs more than he bargained for. Seth has always wanted to meet a mate. He's lonely and feels like he's only going to be alone loving everyone else's children. Then suddenly, Beau and Seth meet. The only problem it wasn't love at first sight, more like fright at first sight. Beau accidentally shoots Seth grazing his arm and his smacked into a tree by a dragon. After that things get really really interesting! This was a good story I'm so happy that met his mate. I can't wait for the next story, Zeke deserves to find his true love and happiness as well. I can't wait to find out
I am so happy Seth finally got his HEA. It has been so sad watching him look at the mates the rest of his family is finding and want that so badly himself. It briefly looked like that might happen early here and when it didn't it was heartbreaking. Then, suddenly, Beau shows up. I thought it was a brilliant idea for Beau to be a PI looking for characters from earlier stories who have found their mates. You wonder sometimes in these romances how characters can just go off with their mate and no one worries about them or tries to find them. The instant connection Seth and Beau have is lovely and while there is some angst as Seth has to be convinced he really can get everything he's been dream ing of, everything works out nicely in the end.
I was so excited for Seth’s book and it did not disappoint.
I admit, my two favourite characters are Seth an Zeke so I was really looking forward to this book. As usual, Minerva Howe did not disappoint and I loved Seth’s book. Seth was such a cutie. I wish he hadn’t felt he needed to hide who he was but at the same time I get it - he wanted to just be him without assumptions or stereotypes. He and Beau didn’t have a perfect meet cute but I think that made it better; there was no instant perfect relationship. They had to work for it which meant it had much more emotional depth. I’m really looking forward to the next book but I also don’t want the series to end.
Loving this series. So many unexpected surprises but they were wonderful to know. Our sweet and beautiful Seth got his special someone...very unique way of meeting his mate but that what makes this series such a delight. Beau finding his way and coming into his alpha dragon. So much love and acceptance he fit right in with our Dragon Sanctuary. The kiddies really took front stage in this one and it was so entertaining. All love and bonding...hardly no drama...really sweet. Very sweet and cute addition to our dragon family at the end. Can't wait to read more in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book
So glad Seth finally found his mate. Beau was the perfect foil for him. Seth had partially given up on finding his match he was happy that his family had found their special ones but he thought it wasn't in the cards for him. Beau was brought in to try and find Brandon who is Abe's mate. He was quite shocked when he learns what is really going on. There is a little bit of rocky beginning but once things start up they hit their speed. They get their HEA and lots of babies. I love this family and the extending world that has been created. Can't wait for Zeke's book, he is one that I have been waiting for since book one. He really deserves his HEA and lots and lots of babies.
I loved this combo of Beau the p.i. and Seth. This was a unique twist with an alpha not realizing he was a dragon and Seth being their to defend his family. This led to quite a misunderstood beginning. However from there these two found each other and a lot of promise. The family dynamic and kids were amazing. This book also had plenty of steam and discovery between mates. I was left most curious about Zeke and extremely curious about the wolves. I can't wait to see where this series goes with Zeke and what's to come with the wolves down the line. Such an easy enjoyable read. I highly recommend this book along with the whole series. While worth your while.
My only complaint about this book and the series as a whole, is that the endings always feel abrupt.
So in this book Seth meets his mate. Hes always felt different to all the other dragons in his family, he thought they would be ashamed of him. On meeting Beau, due to concern for the children in his home he changes and tries to force him away. Meaning Beau accidently shoots Seth. When hes taken back to their home, all Beau wants to do is look after and protect Seth.
These two are beyond protective of each other and the children. Sooo cute. Roll on Zekes story.
