Declan is trying hard not to be jealous of his bestie Justin, who has mated with a dragon and is learning to fly. Owen, who is Justin's mate's brother, and a dragon himself, keeps trying to tell Declan how special he is, but he doesn't believe it. He's just a guy, right? Not as good an athlete as Justin, not a smart as Owen, not as cool as anyone...
Owen knows Declan is his mate, but he doesn't know how to make Declan understand how special he is. So he sets aside his own worry and confusion and starts to woo Declan into seeing his own magic. As he coaxes out Declan's latent dragon side, Owen struggles with all the changes to their isolated world, and the new danger that brings. Can he keep Declan safe and loved as their family starts to grow even more?
Minerva Howe is the kinky alter ego of author Julia Talbot. Julia lives in the great Southwest, where there is hot and cold running rodeo, cowboys, and everything from meat and potatoes to the best Tex-Mex. A full time author, Julia has been published by Samhain as well as other publishing houses. She believes that everyone deserves a happy ending, so she writes about love without limits, where boys love boys, girls love girls, and boys and girls get together to get wild, especially when her crazy paranormal characters are involved.
The characters, the worldbuilding, the wonderful writing... my only complaint is having to wait for the next book to arrive... yes I am greedy! These dragons feel like family and I so look forward to more matings and baby dragons!
So sweet. I appreciate that Declan is so insecure, growing up alone and feeling rejected does that to a person and finding the self esteem after being last in everyone's lists is hard. Glad Owen was up for the task
This book was offensive, bare with me, I’ll get to it soon. I have questions. I see this book getting 4 and 5 star ratings and I honestly don't understand that.
"Owen’s long nose quivered" How? I mean honestly, how does a nose quiver? Can someone explain that to me, or how an editor or beta reader read that and thought sure, that looks ok, and kept on going.
Declan made a wonderful sound that reminded him of bubbles coming from a deep spring Once again, what? Please, attempt to make a noise that reminds you of that and see if it sounds as awful as I think it does.
Some kind of bizarre dance from Serbia or Costa Rica Now, I take HUGE OFFENSE to this particular line. I happen to be Costa Rican. We dance Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia .... those are bizarre? What the hell is wrong with this author? That was such a judgmental remark, especially in the way it was said, the implied tone, honestly it borderlines racism and shows how uncultured this author is.
The names. The names suck. Sebby? Really, that's the best nickname you could come up for Sebastian? How about Just for Justin. Wow. Yeah no, super original and endearing. This was honestly just barely scratching the surface of what's fundamentally wrong with the book.
Look, this author needs major help. Not only because her style is crap, her dialogue is awful, but because that remark could so easily be borderline racist. And before you get all twisted and decide to come to the defense of this woman, tell me, if someone called your culture bizarre in a judgmental way, with the tone of "oh god no" would you not find that offensive too? Oh, and also, I have zero issues with blocking people LOL
Lastly, because I am not a mean person, if you have yet to read Piper Scott’s Forbidden Desires series, do it, and you’ll see why I dislike this book so much. And if you REALLY want a treat, get the audiobooks. THAT is what I measure all Dragon MM Omegaverse books against.
Ice Dragon is a really good second book in the Dragon Sanctuary series. This outing follows Declan and Owen who met in book one but we now have the chance to focus on and follow them. This story actually took me a minute to get into. The writing seemed a bit choppy but once things settled and everyone calmed in their roles and relationship, I got more into the story. Declan struggles with seeing himself as enough for Owen. The young man grew up in the first system and has just watched his best friend become mated and have a baby. Owen knows that Declan is his mate and a dragon but wants him to come to turns with everything on his own. As a couple, they are very cute together and clearly are meant for each other and it's lovely to read Declan come into his own with the support of his mate. The rest of the family are brilliant, all hugely supportive, fun and caring towards each other. They're welcoming of the changes that have been happening since Justin and Declan arrived, even Zeke who was the surliest of them all. It's a very low angst story overall, just one or two moments that rock the boat but they all work through it together. It's interesting reading there interactions with the wolf pack down the mountain as you're not quite sure how they will react and we're left at a good moment as one more dragon meets his mate. Another recommended read from this author and series. I'd say to read book one and two quite close together as there's no real introduction in this book, just diving into the story and so that will help with the plot arc continuation if it's fresh in your mind. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
It seems Miverva Howe can be hit or miss for me. I'll really enjoy one book in a series, then the next one will be less of a win for me. That was the issue here. Book 1 was a 4 star read for me. I liked the dynamic between Justin and Samuel and felt the pacing was done well. Owen and Declan's book dragged for me, so much so that I started to skim at about 60% to the end. A lot of the dialogue felt a bit stilted and continuous. I almost felt like this book was written by someone else rather than the same person who wrote book 1. I had a hard time getting into it.
My favorite parts of the the book were when the Ice Dragons were all together. Their playfulness and teasing is such a happy glimpse of what a loving family they are. Justin and Declan really brought a light into these dragons lives. It was great to see the once grumpy Zeke so cheerful. I think he may be my favorite of all the dragons, so of course his book is slated to be last!
Abe's book is next in the series. He spends much of his time locked away with his books, so we don't know too much about him except that he also likes to cook. Oh and almost everyone is sure Brandon is his mate, which has been confirmed from the blurb for book 3. I was hoping Seth's book was going to be next because that sweet dragon definitely wants his mate to come soon. Fingers crossed he's not too disappointed when it's Abe who's mate shows up next.
I have read the first two books in this series and I have to say that I am really loving this family and these dragons. They are so adorable. The couple at the center of this story is Owen and Declan. Declan was the other rescued snowboarder that was rescued by the dragons and brought to their compound to heal. Justin was watched over by and became the mate of Samuel. Owen, the healer, was watching over Declan. Declan came with the need to heal from more than his injuries in the accident he was rescued from. Declan felt the connection to Owen but he was a foster child who never felt he belonged so he was not sure how to trust that he was enough. Owen's patience and the love and faith of the brothers and cousins living in the compound helped Declan to learn to believe in himself, what he had to offer and that he was lovable. I liked that Owen and Declan were together awhile before they came together so they had a good foundation to build on but even more important, they continued to build and did not arrive at their love but continued to journey and grow together. I cannot wait to read the next story! I am hooked. I received an ARC from GRR for an honest review.
How do you convince your mate's inner dragon to emerge? Scrub his scales!
I am loving this series more each day! All the dragons are here: Justin, Samuel & Sebby, Zeke, Abe, Seth, Owen and emerging dragon Declan. Their personalities are vivid and unique. They feel like old friends. Each of their talents are showcased. They are one, big, boisterous, bonded family, complete with sibling rivalry, comic relief, an enigmatic fae, and a fierce little fox champion. Then there are the Wolves. Oddly enough, it is technology that brings them together. This is Owen & Declan's story. HEA is assured. The road there isn't always smooth, but even the scary bumps turn out alright. Ice dragon plus water dragon equals a fated pairing that is wondrous to behold. You have read the blurb. Enough said. I cannot wait for the next book. It is set up nicely. Oh, you are gonna love this book! Please read the previous book... you will love it too. This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
Declan is struggling with his new life with the dragons. He feels as if he not enough of anything and can never make a good mate to Owen. He is sure someone else will come along and Owen will want them more. Owen knows Declan is his mate, but is not sure how to convince him. As they finally grow closer and Owen works on coaxing his dragon, a new danger emerges and Owen wants to make sure his mate stays safe.
This family of dragons is amazing. They have so much love for each other that it simply shines from the pages of the book (or actually for most of us, your ereader). Declan really struggled feeling as if he could never measure up, but he does have a talent that the others do not and he finally begins to realize he is where he belongs. In Ice Dragon, we do see some progress made in changing and adapting to the technological age. These men are not afraid to grow and embrace all the new members of their family. These are truly heart warming stories and will leave you with a smile
Declan had a sense of reluctance in accepting who he really was. Kept planting seeds of self doubt and not seeing the value in himself. Declan has so many talents, but didn't see himself as worthy. Owen had so much patience with him. Nursing his mate back to health and giving him the space he needed to come to terms with who he was and what they are as dragon mates.
It was such a joy to see what kind of dragon Declan became. Turns out, his dragon was inherently tied to why he wasn't as good as Justin was in winter sports. As always, the rest of the dragons were great secondary characters. Each and every one were fully supportive of each other. Working as a family, close bonds, and friendships.
Of all the dragons to do a 180, Zeke has to be the one. The oldest and definitely surliest of them all. It took babies to really change him. With each book, we learn a little bit more about him. But we'll have top wait for his as it seems Brandon, Justin's twin brother, is next for his HEA to a different dragon.
These stories go entirely too fast. Will definitely keep your attention.
**I received this ARC via Gay Romance Reviews for my honest feedback.**
I loved the first book in the Dragon Sanctuary series and couldn’t wait to read Ice Dragon! The world building in this series is great, and I really like getting little pieces of the story arc that is going through each book.
Owen and Declan are absolutely perfect for each other. Owen knows that Declan is his mate, and Declan wants to believe it but he is self conscious. Declan really worries that he is not good enough for Owen, so Owen works hard to woo him. Their relationship is really sweet, and their connection is beautiful.
I also loved the growth in the relationship between the wolves and the Dragons. I am really looking forward to how that will progress in the next book. I am already eagerly awaiting the third book in hit series.
I did receive a free ARC of this book but that did not influence my review.
This book is amazing! The next chapter in the Dragon Sanctuary saga and it’s Owen and Declan’s story. Owen has watched over Declan since he was brought in injured with his best friend Justin. Owen knows he is his mate but is taking things slow. Declan isn’t convinced he is a dragon like the rest but soon, things will begin to happen that will prove him wrong. This will lead to him letting go of his fears that Owen will tire of him and it will lead to an amazing adventure to their happily ever after. Declan’s computer skills will help bring the dragons closer to peace and friendship with the wolf pack that live on adjacent land and it will bring new friends into their lives.
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
Ice Dragon by Minerva Howe is the second book in the Dragon Sanctuary series. I found I do not have to read the books in order, to understand this particular story. This is a fast-paced romance that I loved reading.
Owen is a dragon shifter. He finds his mate almost dead from a snowmobile accident. He is a doctor and a very serious person.
Declan is a human who loves to snowboard. He was found inside a magical barrier that he and his friend should not have been able to get through. He is torn about his fate but knows far too much to turn back now.
I really liked these two together. They are the yin and yang to each other. I always like fated mates that are friends as well as having a strong attraction. I liked the twists and turns in this book. I cannot wait for more in the future.
Declan has so many insecurities; he has his doubts. But Ice Dragon Owen is such a patient sweetheart. Owen really takes Zeke's seriously and starts making inroads into winning Declan's love. All the dragons come together with open arms to surround Declan with their love in accepting him into their family and Declan learns what family is all about; something both Justin and he lacked in their lives. It didn't hurt the Owen loved Declan unconditionally. New characters have been introduced, such as the familiar Fractal, werewolf Loyal, the introduction of Brandon, Justin's twin. This is the further development to the Dragon Sanctuary series. This is a story with a smooth flow and an enjoyable ARC read that I'm volunteering to honestly review.
4 stars Owen and Declan are so dang cute together!!
I was really looking forward to this second book in the Dragon Sanctuary series and it is so good! Owen knows Declan is his mate but Declan worries he isn’t actually the one. With Declan having been healing for so long, he’s feeling very inadequate, especially as a mate for any dragon, let alone one as wonderful and smart as Owen. As Declan lets his fears go, he is also pulled into helping with the truce with the nearby wolf pack. While Owen isn’t really happy about having his love anywhere near their neighbors, he knows Declan needs to contribute to the family. I love the true family dynamic of these books! Dragons, babies and lots of love. I am so enjoying this series and can’t wait for the next one!
This continuation from the first book in the series was sweet, a little bit steamy with A LOT of love confirmation between the entire dragon family. Declan was very unsure of himself...didn't think he was worthy of being Owen's mate but gradually he realized they were fated and it was real. He embraced his "dragon" and things were easy going. Not much to any angst. Just a lot of love and feel good vibes. We get a little conflict/danger towards the end that broke down the continuous happy train for a brief moment then we were all back aboard that train very quick...LOL...this was very enjoyable romance with a very sweet addition added to the magical dragon family. The ending was great with a surprise treat and an anticipation for the next story in the series. Can't wait!
Good times! Declan, doessn't believe he's anything special. He looks at his bestie, Justin with a little bit of envy. Owen, a dragon keeps trying to tell Declan he is indeed, very special especially to him. Owen believes Justin has a dragon in him, but Justin doesn't see it. As they get to know each other better, they both start to change toward each other. Does Justin feel his dragon? How patient can Owen be? Can Owen's brothers and cousins welcome Declan as they have Justin? Sweet story. A little tension, a little adventure, a few surprises. Excellent found family. Supportive characters are sweet. Story flows and draws you in with the feels. The dragons are absolutely hysterical. Great humor, better lovin. Well done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Owen and Declan story was an interesting one, where the characters had to fight for their happiness and learn to trust in themselves. Owen had a difficult time in convincing and court his mate in the beginning as well as making him comfortable in his own skin. Declan thought he wasn't a dragon and was afraid Owen will leave him when he finds his mate. Declan has an important role in making a truce with the wolfs, even if this brings some troubles at their doorsteps, and in making new valuable friends. I loved the way they connected in the family, their protectiveness, and the new additions to the family. I’m really excited to see what happens next and I really liked this book.
I love Minerva Howe’s books and characters! These dragons in her Dragon Veil Universe are all special. I hope soon that we might see the two series actually connected. Declan is a reluctant dragon, just not sure what to believe. He wants so badly to belong like his best friend Justin does, but he isn’t sure. Owen is a very patient dragon however and has no problem waiting for his mate. Lovely story and I just adore how all of these guys form one big loving family up on their snowbound homestead. I enjoy these books so much! Highly recommend them all. Declan and Owen are so sweet and schmoopy together. Absolutely gorgeous.
Another really good addition to this series. Declan is so insecure & full of doubt. He believes that Owen will find his mate & leave Declan high & dry. It took time for Declan to accept that he is Owen's mate & that he will not leave him. Owen & his brothers/cousins show Declan just how much he belongs in the family. Declan is instrumental in cementing the truce between the dragons & wolves. I love Loyal, the werewolf who wants the hate to end. We now have a new addition to the family & Brandon finally shows up. Once he lays eyes on Abe, you know it's game over for Brandon. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion
I really loved reading this book. Own and Declan were perfect. This book showed Declan finding himself and who he truly was. The style was nice and it was a fun read. I love dragon stories and this one delivered. For one who assumed he was a man to come around and find his inner dragon was amazing. The mpreg was great. I loved the baby having awareness. All in all a nice read and worth your while. I loved Declan and Owen. I loved these two finding family and each other. The werewolves were a great addition. I'm really looking forward to getting to know the other dragons in these stories.
Okay these books are a guilty pleasure. I actually find the writing truly repetitive, but the nice part is can skip a lot of the smut and just get the story that ties it all together. They are very sweet and caring with themes of chosen family, support, love, and longing.
They are great, though I am struggling to understand the physiology of these worlds. I have to actively work to set aside my disbelief and just enjoy them, though I do share the parts that confuse me with my husband (and these are NOT his kind of stories) and we laugh.
Also we cannot hear/see the word "knot" the same every again.
This is the second in the Dragon Sanctuary series. Flippin fantastic!! Declan and Owen’s story was sweet. I loved it!! This takes place about a year after Winter Dragon. Declan has so many insecurities and doesn’t believe he is Owen’s mate. Eventually Owen wins him over. I love the fated mates and really enjoyed the wolves even if I thought they were the bad guys! Cannot wait for Brandon’s story!! Loved it!! It was really well written, highly recommend. I’m voluntarily leaving a review from an advanced copy that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
This is the second book in the Dragon Sanctuary series and it's best read in order. This is my first book by this author and definitely won't be my last. Declan is insecure and Owen is trying to make him feel special because he's special to him. This is a sweet romance and held my attention from page one. The characters all have good chemistry. I felt like Declan and Owen had a true love match. I'm off to purchase book one so I can get caught up. Definitely recommend this book to others that like MM romance with hot, sexy dragon shifters.
Owen and Declan are so lovely. I loved how patient Owen was with Declan. He didn’t push, he didn’t make Declan feel like he had to accept things faster, he took things at Declan’s pace and loved him just as he was. This series (this author) is so good at showing family and how it grows and works together. I love that we got to see more of the wolves (some of those guys seem pretty awesome once you get to know them). I’m loving how the series is going and can’t wait to see Brandon and his dragon!
This is book two in the Ice Dragon series and a spin-off of her first Dragon books. This book is super sweet with plenty of heat. I really loved the two MCs. Declan was struggling with his identity and still healing after the first book, and Owen, one of the Dragon brothers, is trying to woo his mate and dealing with his mate's inferiority complex. Declan also doesn't believe he is good enough for Owen or that he is a dragon. I definitely recommend this book and the entire series can't wait for the next one.
Ice Dragon is a sweet m/m PN Dragon romance. Declan & Owen are the sweetest. I absolutely adored these two. Owen was so patient with Declan. So sweet & kind. I love these dragon series by Minerva. You’ll laugh, feel the passion, steamy, always a bit of drama thrown in, which makes it all the better. These brothers, cousins, soul mates are the best and I can’t wait to see who zeke ends up with!! Roll on the next book. You get to see at the end of this one who’s the next to find their fated mate and I’m all there for that. Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I had trouble getting started because I couldn't buckle through the prologue. After that, I was binging. Could not put it down. There are so many twists in this one and I really felt closer to alot of the dragons at the end. I could give lots away but I won't because it really is fun to read this. And I am really excited to read the next one and see who is the next dragon to get a mate and will it be the mystery character from Book 2? Highly Recommend. Scale of 1-10=9
Owen and Declan continue their journey to a HEA. Declan the tech expert and super insecure and doubtful. Owen much more mature( like hundreds of years) is the patient and supportive mate he needs. There’s a lot of sexy times, snuggling and eating throughout these pages. A lot of family bonding, cute kids born and not. A little action again thanks to the werewolves. The dragon homestead is going to need extensive extension very soon.
Again I really wanted to like this more. I pretty much had the same issues with this book as I did the last one. It felt like the book was mostly filler daily stuff. I ended up skimming some. Maybe this is a case of "it's me not the book" because everyone else seems to love this series so far. I also still don't understand the werewolves issue with the dragons. Like what was the point of their animosity in the first place? Why did they hold on to it for so long?
