BRAND NEW SERIES! NEVER BEFORE ON KINDLE! (Mature readers advised)
"All you must do is sign on the dotted line and all your romantic dreams will come true," the Fairy Godmother says with a twinkle in her eye.
This is what happens when you do not read the fine print in a very detailed contract, you miss all the things that are immediate deal breakers. Viola Vonsula, a proud resident of New Orleans, lives on the top floor of an old Victorian mansion on a very normal street. But normal is no longer a word she can use to describe her life since signing the official contract of Fairy Godmother Inc. They forgot to tell her that she would be competing against other women in a very dangerous game. A game where she would be thrust into an alien world for the mere hope of catching the dashing Prince's heart.
And let me say this, this prince is one hot alpha male that has a serious attitude problem. We do not get along save for the fact that he can turn my insides to mush with one look. But the silver lining here is that you can have a happily-ever-after if you survive. You can't fall in love if you're dead. It tends to spoil the romance.
Just a couple of online reviews!

This is my favourite series ever! Started reading it on the Galatea App (it’s how I started to get into reading now I use kindle). And her books are finally on Amazon and Kindle! This first one has a great FMC, the story is full of action and details and it’s just so addictive and amazing I can’t recommend it enough!! The chemistry and the plots are just perfection! Just finished a reread as audiobook, really impressed. Can’t wait to listen to the entire series once it’s out.
I've recently starting listening to audio books and Heir Of The Beast ticks all the boxes. It has danger, drama, excitement, lust, passion, forbidden romance, twist, turns and is fast paced, keeping me hooked the whole way through!
The narrating was engaging, entertaining and bought the story to life perfectly. I loved that it's read by both male and female characters as you can clearly hear who is who, which helps so much with character development. Especially the Prince as his narrator made him seem dangerous and alluring!
The story is enthralling and kept me hooked from the start. The premise of the storyline isn't something I've come across before as I don't normally read this type of book. But I'm so glad I gave it a try as I absolutely loved it!
I loved the characters and all the different relationships and, the cloak and dagger antics, in order to win the heart of the Prince! I enjoyed the fantasy of the book, especially how Mort helped the princess aka Viola every step of the way. Even turning into a horse which was epic!
I can't wait for the second installment...bring it on!!
Thank you to Zooloo's Book Tours, for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Hunger Games meets Disney Princess meets The Bachelor meets Survivor.
Six women sent to another planet have three months to win the heart of a prince. He has to fall in love with one of them or his world will be lost forever.
Doesn’t sound too difficult right? Especially when you have the Fairy Godmother and her team on standby for fabulous make-overs, kick-ass skills and top secret intel delivered by your supernatural PA side-kick.
Once you have signed on the dotted line, you are in it to win it.
And if you lose, you will just go back to the shitty life you came from.
No biggie.
Oh, did we forget to mention you might die?
I love love love these books! I heard other readers commenting on how good they were when they had read them on a reading app, and to be honest, I wasn’t sure. It all sounded a bit whacky, and out there. Fantasy romance isn’t really my thing, but there is only so much sports romance you can read before you get bored by the same tropes over and over, so I gave it a go. Reluctantly.
Boy oh boy, ten pages in and I was hooked!
Like, seriously addicted.
And they are now finally on Amazon, in print and e-book. No more waiting for 6 hours for chapters to unlock. Safe to say I bought them all.
Was very surprised at this little gem when I discovered it on Galatea!
This was a plot that had me hooked within the first free chapters! And I do NOT get hooked easily! There is adventure, drama, a dash of tear-ful moments, and a sprinkling of humor...all wrapped in a well written romance! I never really bother writing reviews, but this one I recommend to anyone (except horror fans, none of that in here, sorry) Give it a brief glimpse, you'll see!
This is hands down the best series of books I have ever read. Close second being, The Lunar Chronicles. I found these on the app called Galatea. Highly recommend! Some say that the beginning is slow but it is painting the picture of what FGI ( Fairy Godmother Inc) is. Apollo and Viola start out the series and do not disappoint. Now my fellow spicy book readers would agree, if they have read these that this is not advertised as an Erotic book but there is definitely spicy scenes, they just aren’t as detailed as other books in that genre. Enough to get you hot and bothered though! Every story gets better and better. It is impossible to chose my favorite of these books! I have reread these books more times than I can count. Can not wait til they are available on paperback!!
I LOVEDDDDD this one! I was like— how they gonna get around this situation… step-bro. I loved the storyline, great writing in details, but a little rushed at the end!
Going against the grain here, but I didn’t love this book as others have.
I liked the concept; fairy tale meets romance with a twist. The foundations were good, but some of the plot was lacking and felt clunky at times. It seemed like the author was trying too hard, doing too much, to be different. I loved the main characters, especially Mort, they’re strong, sassy and witty. I struggled with some of the relationships though. One relationship goes from being enemies to the best of friends in a second (not an exaggeration). There are a lot of spelling and grammatical errors as well as an overuse of ‘~’, I’ve never seen this is a book before. The spice also seemed a bit disjointed with almost childish names for genitalia which muted it. Examples ‘lady parts’ and he touched me ‘~there~’ being used several times.
Over all the idea was good and I did enjoy it in places, but I won’t be reading the other books in this series.
Viola has just signed a contract with Fairy Godmother Inc. in the hope of obtaining her happily ever after but she didn’t read the fine print. Can she win the heart of Prince Apollo before time runs out?
This is a new author to me and as soon as I read the synopsis I was very intrigued especially by the idea of Fairy Godmother Inc. This is what attracted me to the book. Like many I grew up with fairy tales involving fairy godmothers and the story took everything I knew and gave it a twist. Viola is approached by Fairy Godmother Inc. and given the opportunity to find happily ever after but it’s not as simple as it’s made out. The contract is quite in depth and there are clauses in it that would mean that if Viola is unsuccessful in winning the Prince’s heart that she may lose everything but also there is a limited amount of time that she must complete the task.
I loved that this story was the perfect mix of romance and fantasy which are genres that I love. There were definitely lots of twists and turns in the story and ones that I wasn't expecting. The story reminded me of a cross between The Hunger Games and The Bachelor. It was interesting to see Viola transported to another world and seeing how she coped in her new surroundings. Although she was assigned a role to play she had to use her skills to catch Apollo’s attention which wasn’t going to be easy. She had other contestants to compete against but also as she learned quickly some of the other people that she was surrounded by had their agendas and would do anything to keep Viola away from Apollo. One of my favourite scenes was when Viola has the opportunity to build the character that she would be, picking characteristics that she wanted to use to impress Apollo and make her stand out from the other contestants.
Although Viola is ready for the challenge she also knows from the beginning that she's on the back foot because other contestants were previously sent to woo Apollo and they didn’t succeed. So there’s a lot riding on this mission being successful not only for Viola but it could also determine the future of Fairy Godmother Inc. Apollo was an interesting character because he was one that was really hard to read. He’s very grumpy and has a big attitude but when he's around Viola we see another side to him which is tender and caring that many don’t see. Once Viola manages to capture Apollo’s attention, her circumstances change and she finds herself sold as a slave and then involved in a love triangle. What I really liked about the story was that it wasn't predictable. When Viola overcomes one hurdle something else is thrown in her path. But she never gives up especially when she starts to fall for Apollo.
This is the first book in the Fairy Godmother Inc. series and I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of the books.
What an interesting concept! I loved that it took an element/universe we already knew— the Disney prince and fairy godmother and all that— and created a whole new universe. The Fairy Godmother Inc keeps the universe in balance by making sure good and evil stays balanced on every planet. When it teeters towards evil, they send a task force to win the heart of whomever is the source, because love is always the answer. Viola is from New Orleans and just living her normal life when she received a mysterious letter from FGI. Her along with five other women get sent to another world to compete for the target. In enters Apollo, who has been giving FGI a hard time. If they don’t win him, the universe could be at stake. What ensues is the girls having an adventure of a lifetime, a quest to save a prince and the world, and learning one’s own identity. Overall, I thought this book was just plain fun. It was spicy too. It went from lust to insta love in my opinion, and we got a little side tracked but then brought back around with a plot twist, but it was still fun.
Thank you R&R Book Tours for having me and for a copy for review!
If you were to mix Dr. Who, the bachelor, and Beauty and the Beast into a cauldron, this book is what you would get!🙌🏻🤩
At first, I was a little confused and uncertain, but it didn’t take long for the story to really pick up and I just could not put this one down!
This book is so unique and has such an interesting premise, I don’t believe I’ve read anything like it! Unless you’ve read a romance book where the Fairy Godmother Inc, an interdimensional company, works to maintain the balance of the universe through true love’s kiss!?
I really enjoyed Viola’s story, and can’t wait to read more of this “out of this world” (pun intended😜) series! Overall, I’d highly recommend this book if you’re just looking for something different!
One of my favorite series ever. Excited that it’s no longer exclusive to the Galatea app and that more people will have a chance to discover the Fairy Godmother Inc Universe!!! These books are addictive, funny, have strong MCs, and unforgettable LIs.
Now anyone who knows me will say romance was not really a genre I enjoyed. As a subplot sure but once a open a time I wouldn’t go out of my way to read it. Thanks to some amazing fantasy romance, paranormal romance and dark romance that is no longer the case. The Heir of the Beast is the start of a fab series that is full of action, adventure and a bit of humour too. The writing is engaging and fun. Being first person you get a good understanding of the characters and get dragged in quickly. The story was paced well and I love Black’s way of writing. I am definitely going to be reading the Fairy Godmother Inc series.
I was so completely drawn in by this gorgeous front cover that I totally disregarded ever
ything else about this book before jumping right on in!
That and the fact I never read blurbs anyway.....made me feel rather silly (given all the hints too) when I got about 31% into this book and realised that it was a brilliant mash-up retelling of all of the fairytales known!
Yes, I totally missed all the clues and the fact that this is the first book in The Fairy Godmother Inc series!!
Now, I've never been a girly girl, into the fairy tale princesses etc, but as a big reader, I obviously know all of the stories.
This book absolutely blew me away!
It somehow manages to take all of the best bits of the most well known fairytales and smush them together into the most immersive dark romance retelling and I was totally obsessed from start to finish!
I adored our sassy and sarcastic main character, Viola and all of her interactions with the other girls, her guide, Mort and of course our glorious MMC, Apollo.
Despite Viola being weirdly whisked off to another planet, set a challenge to win the heart of the Prince and all of the drama that then ensues - this was so easy to follow and become completely invested in.
I was rooting for Viola to win the whole way through.
There was so much going on and so many obstacles and twists along the way - but even so, the storyline was pretty obvious where we were heading - I even suspected some of the twists ahead of time - but this didn't put me off in the slightest!
I loved the ending, which again throws us a curveball - but worked so well to give us the perfect conclusion.
The all consuming chemistry between Viola and Apollo from the second they laid eyes on each other, was everything and yes, there were some perfectly placed spicy scenes.
This was packed with everything I love in a great read - characters that we can't help but fall in love with - a storyline full of excitement and fun - tension and passion - and a writing style that I need so much more of!
I've discovered that there are already 8 books in this series and I absolutely need every single one, right now!
I know that this review doesn't do this quirky book justice, but basically, I'm obsessed!
**I also listened to this on audio and the narration was absolute perfection.
I loved both narrators - who did a fantastic job portraying each character - and it was great that each spoke their own parts throughout, rather than the separate dual pov chapters.
Loved this book so much. Can’t believe it isn’t available anywhere other than reading app. I read it on Galatea but might show up on some others. Hooked me right from the start, so much so that I didn’t mind the 6 hour wait between chapters.
Fairy Godmother Inc believes in happily-ever-afters but it seems that they are falling short in some realms and because of this the balance is out of whack and a darkness of hard of heart has taken over many realms. Their current target whose realm needs more balance has already had many teams fail and it seems this is their last shot or they might be shut down for good. They needed to go through lots of failures to get to the right person who was going to win Prince Apollo’s heart. Step up Viola.
Great characters that get you hooked into the world you are being brought into. The women selected each have certain aspects of their personalities that might help sway Apollo in their favour but only one will be able to claim his heart. Tricks may be played at times to create certain events but feelings are very much needed to be real. Each person is brought into the new realm in different ways and meet Apollo in different, and sometimes dangerous, circumstances and our girl Viola is no exception. First impressions count for everything and lets just say she makes an interesting one, our Apollo too with how he saves her. One look and she can see why it would be easy to fall for him but how to make him fall for her and not be lead astray bringing darkness to his realm is something else entirely.
Their chemistry is crazy off the charts but lying about who you really are can’t be ignored. Danger lurks in the realm and if Viola isn’t careful she may be put right into its path. Can true love find a way to overcome all? Check it out to know for sure.
This audiobook was an absolute ride, made even better by the dual narration. Having a male voice for Apollo was a fantastic touch, adding depth to his broody, god-like presence. The story follows Viola, whose life on Earth is far from glamorous—until Fairy Godmother Inc. offers her an escape and a mission: assume a new identity, travel to another world, and win the heart of a prince to maintain the balance of good and evil in the universe.
Viola’s journey is anything but predictable. Sent as a slave with a mysterious past, she quickly finds herself entangled with Apollo—a dark, brooding, and irresistible force. Their cat-and-mouse dynamic was thrilling, the sexual tension was palpable, and when things heated up, they really heated up. The steamy scenes were top-tier, making this a swoon-worthy read.
That said, the pacing was a bit uneven. Around the halfway mark, it felt like the story was reaching its climax—only to push forward into an entirely new arc. Viola’s kidnapping and auction into the sex trade introduced a new layer of darkness, including a brooding pirate that added to the tension. While the twists were somewhat predictable, it was still frustrating waiting for Viola to catch up. That being said, she was a strong and determined protagonist, even if her stubbornness occasionally slowed her down.
A special shoutout to Mort, the comedic relief, who was an absolute delight throughout. Overall, this book was fast-paced, fun, and deliciously steamy, making it a great pick for fans of sci-fi romance with high stakes and sizzling chemistry.
I can't tell you how much I adored this book and the audiobook! What a treat!! You have to listen to the audio, the guy who narrates Apollo...well he can read a shopping list to me... his voice could have you doing anything he asks!! The way this audiobook is done is so clever. All male voices were narrated by E.M. Wylde and how they interwoven with the book was brilliant. I have never heard a book done this way, but I am here all for it!
This is a great story and such a sneaky little organisation! Things are definitely not as straightforward as you might think! We are flung into another world, one where 5 girls have to compete for the heart of Apollo. You get to pick your skills, and alterations to your looks but your role gets picked. Viola is a slave and must navigate her way through this unknown world.
We have so many hair-raising moments, but a lot of laughs and a heck of a lot of SIZZLE!! Boy oh boy, it just burned through my speakers. Smoking!!
But Viola is nothing without Mort, her sidekick, and I love the affectionate nickname she had for Viola, Human. I did chuckle when she was stuck as a butterfly in a place that no one wants to be stuck in! lol.
I was hooked from the start and the audiobook just sucked me in straightaway. I mean we all know there would be a HEA, but I didn't expect all the twists and turns. I did kinda figure out the ship twist, but what an epic idea! I cried near the end when Viola broke, I broke. I loved the ending and the set-up for the next book...which is now on my Kindle.
This whole story is very, very different to fantasy romance that I have read out there in the wild!
There is action, there is a dash of spice, there is a bit of worldbuilding, there is this really unique Fairy Godmother INC storyline and to top it off.. ? Really strong female characters!
With the romance and the spice, there is a lovely HEA so while this is part of a series, I feel it can be read as a standalone so it's left me wondering are Book 2 and beyond the same?
Cleverly crafter and a great read, recommend to all fantasy lovers that love a bit of love ❤️
Fairy godmother series is absolutely amazing! i love this book so much! ALL the Fairy Godmother books are amazing!
Apollo and Viola will always have a special place in my heart because this is book 1. I read this book in one day it was so good! The author is absolutely so imaginative and this is the type of romantasy that kept my interest! The aspect of competing for love has that reality tv aspect to it, but the worlds that FR Black creates are amazing.
The storyline keeps you guessing, and it is absolutely fabulous ♥️♥️♥️ i cant wait for the world to read all her stories.
~I’m surprised the overall rating is as high as it is.~
This book was not good. The romance felt forced and the sex scenes clunky. The premise is meh, the plot is all over (and I had guessed the big reveal way early on), and the writing is terrible. There is only “telling” and no “showing.” It’s impossible to get into it, made ten times worse by the main character cracking modern jokes in all the wrong places.
This book was so good in the first 6 chapters, I bought the unlimited Galatea app just so I could consume it. Not but 24 hours later I finished. It was amazing!! I love that each book in the series is about a different new character. I loved so many characters in this book. I think this book will be the next big thing for sure!
This was the beginning of one of the best journeys I've been on to date. This book restored my love of reading. I could not put it down, and once I finished, I immediately dove into book 2. FR Black has stolen a piece of me, and I will forever be one of her biggest fans.
I love the author, her books, are amazing . Already read it all twice. 5 *. Stories with humor, action, drama but not much, romance and very spicy 😜. Everyone should read it all. 👍👍👍🥇🥇🥇
𝑀𝑦 𝑇ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ𝑡𝑠💭🧐 Thank you so much to @f.r.black & @rrbooktours for my gifted review copy of 𝙃𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙩 ! This review is comprised entirely of my own thoughts & opinions, & is based on the copy I received.
This was such a FUN fairytale retelling! This book was super unique and different and I loved every second of it. Not only is this book a fairytale retelling but it also involves intergalactic space travel - if that doesn’t entice you, I don’t know what will! This was such a unique take on a fairytale retelling and I just really loved how much fun it was and now epic the world building and magic system were!
Viola, our FMC, is sent to a different planet to win the heart of its Prince. She must compete in deadly trials and if she doesn’t win, she’s sent back to her home. Viola is a great FMC, she’s so sassy and determined and bold, and I loved how she grew so much as the story went on. Apollo, our MMC, is the epitome of an Alpha Hole MMC but the chemistry and tension between him and Viola is off the charts amazing! I couldn’t get enough of these two and the spice was spicing in all the best ways!
Mort was a standout favorite sidekick character and there were so many moments he had me laughing out loud! I loved how lighthearted this story was, while also being a bit high stakes with the trials. I loved the dichotomy and thought it was written really well! I was excited while reading but also felt the lightheartedness and it created such an amazing reading experience! The writing and the prose and the premise of the plot all blended together seamlessly - I couldn’t put it down!
Overall, I really enjoyed this read! It was excellent and romantic and fantastical in all the best ways and I’m really looking forward to the future installments in the series!
I went into this book blind and it did not disappoint!
This book is a beauty and the beast retelling but it has a The Bachelor vibe with a fairy godmother twist and morally gray mmc as usual. The vibes in this book are interesting, the plot is plotting and its a fun time to read, I devoured it!
The audiobook is a Duet and it was really well done! I am so looking forward to book 2! It's set in a hunger games world and I cannot wait!
This book made me both laugh and swoon! I thought the plot was original, and enjoyed getting to know, and root for, the characters. Will definitely be recommending this one!
I started off listening to the audio version of Heir to the Beast, but towards the end I switched to the book. Yes, before you ask...I loved the book that much that I went and promptly bought the whole series...new binge incoming!!
It's the first in the Fairy Godmother Inc series and regales with a dark fantasy romance fairytale retelling. Just when I thought to myself 'it's a retelling of...', another sentence made me think 'nope, it's a retelling of...'.
The imagery brought the story to life and the world building was insanely good...like Once Upon A Time good!!
Characterisations are fantastic, way too many to choose a favourite from.
A brilliant series starter, highly addictive and so, so good.
Thank you, @zooloosBT, for letting me be part of this audiobook review. I absolutely loved Heir of the Beast from the minute I started listening to it. It took me two days to listen to this book. I now want to read the rest of the series. I am extremely hooked and was sad when this book ended. Heir of the beast is book 1 of the fairy godmother series. I loved the references of film titles in the story. Excellent.I love F. R Black's writing style, she is engaging, and it was lovely to read something totally different from what I normally read. The narrators in the audio were exceptional. I loved all the characters and I loved the twists and I did work them out just before they came to light. This book is a breath of fresh air and fell in love with the story and characters immediately, and it did make me laugh in places to. I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster listening to this book, which is why I could not stop listening to it. This is a fantastic book, strongly recommend, and I definitely will be reading book 2 very soon. 5 stars.
