Rosie Banks is aiming just right with the Secret Princesses series. This, the second book, follows the Friendship Princesses on another adventure, this time an aquatic one. The book has a great balance of pictures to help younger readers fully form the story in their heads, whilst the vocabulary is aimed at 7-8 years and up. There are a few longer words in there, most of which sound out, however for readers just getting in to longer stories such as these, assisted reading would be beneficial.

The two central characters are very pleasant, and although there are emotional subjects to keep it interesting, they are all handled with a young audience in mind and there's plenty of goodwill, excitement and general girlishness to keep young readers wanting to pick the book back up.

A second, and most welcome, book in the series.
