Author Allie Harrison's Initiation is apparently the first installment in a new series. 23-year-old Valerie Alister has just successfully graduated with a shiny new Master's Degree in Information Technology. Instead of celebrating with her friends, she receives a frantic phone call from her father asking for her help. Valerie finds herself driving in a snow storm to a hotel room, where she finds her father with two strangers, and a headless body.

Valerie just got her degree in IT and was ecstatic even though no one from her family knows about it just yet. She is at home when she receives a weird call from her father, Mike. He is saying weird things and asks her to grab certain items and to come where he gives her his location. She arrives there only to discover that some weird thing was in his truck he brings into a motel. She also sees two other people in a bed…everything was sooo strange~ Then, her father proceeds to make outlandish claims about their bloodline, abilities, age 25, and Defenders~ She is lost~ he makes her say an oath and consecrates it in blood and a weird language. Next, she hears a terrifying story and now has to face evil! The Wax Museum down the road has evil living and breathing inside! They must find a way to destroy or trap it and save all the people inside affected. But how? What can they do? What weapons will work? Valerie and Mike will also discover something hidden there that will turn their whole worlds upside down~ Hard choices will need to be made and unexplained circumstances will pit them in a fight for their lives~ Will they succeed? Meet Valerie. She just graduated from university. Instead of celebrating with friends and family, she unexpectedly finds herself driving through a severe winter storm following a plea for help from her father.

What follows is a thrilling, sometimes chilling adventure set in a scary wax museum. I enjoyed the build up as it becomes increasingly clear that this is no ordinary venue, though I thought the description of the various wax vignettes bordered on being repetitive.

Overall, the plot was fast-paced and kept me engaged and entertained. This book should appeal to readers who enjoy a spooky thriller, with a coming of age theme involving the main protagonist.

Had a hard time putting it down

I didn’t think I was going to like this book when I started reading it. Thank goodness I kept reading! The story was awesome. I couldn’t wait to see how they were going to get out of each predicament. I was cheering the characters on as they told their stories. I look forward to the second book in the series. I decided on 5 stars because the story is really good even if the first couple of chapters weren’t as interesting as the rest of the book!

Excellent book

This is the first full story of Allie Harrison that I've read and I am certainly now a fan. I'll be getting more from this talented author.
I'm a lover of stories about secret groups that battle the forces of evil.
Valerie is going to be the best fighter for the cause down the road and I look forward to what I feel will be more books in an epic series.

Absolutely loved this book. It has a great plot and amazing characters. It grabs you right off the bat and by chapter 2 you are already hooked. Honestly its hard to put the book down. It is full of suspense, and it kept me guessing. I definitely recommend this book!!!

Left hungry for more

Great story. Characters are well thought out. Moved at a fast pace and left me wanting more. Can’t wait for the next book!
