This was fun!
Why I purchased this book:
1. The title was so funny. How can kids not be lured by anything that contrasts truth with poop!?!
2. It was free on Amazon. (It still is, as of 12th May 2022.)
Why I read the book:
I had one whole hour of waiting time with only my kids and my phone for company. For a change, they didn’t have their books with them. So I needed something to keep us all entertained for 60 minutes. This fit in our requirements perfectly.
The book contains 50 “facts” about animals. It is up to us to decide whether these facts are ‘truth’ or ‘poop’! This might sound very easy but it is NOT! There are many tricky questions that trap you into an answer. Some “facts” are so outrageous that you will be tempted to mark them as ‘poop’ right away. And then you stare open-mouthed in astonishment to see that it was the ‘truth’! The kids and I started by keeping track of our right answers but once our track record went embarrassingly in the red, we conveniently forgot to update the stats! 😂
The book doesn’t just stop at raising a question. The next page reveals the answer and provides a fairly detailed explanation of the fact. The explanation is both informative and humorous. Younger kids might need adult guidance to understand the explanation.
The question is accompanied by a funny illustration, which further enhances enjoyment. (The author himself is the illustrator – kudos on a job well done!)
This can be a fun way of passing time with children such as waiting time, road trips or even as a competitive family game during vacations.

Very cleverly written and full of fact and fiction about animals. I thought almost everything was true so got much wrong.
Final analysis: 37 are true and 13 are false.
I did not keep track but probably got about 35 right.

A true or false quiz book (mainly) for children, which I loved reading. Many weird and wonderful statements about animals that you have to guess whether they are Truth or Poop.
Some of the facts I knew already, many (but by no means all) I guessed correctly – but then I like to think of myself as a not-too-stupid adult.
Some facts I particularly liked:
A great book for learning about the weird natural world, and a fun way to spend a few afternoons.

I usually read novels with my son at bedtime, but I got this book as a free Kindle deal and decided to change things up. It turned out to be a really fun experience!
Unlike me when I was a kid, my son isn't particularly interested in things like nature documentaries and weird animal facts, so it was fun and sometimes enlightening to see which facts he already knew or correctly guessed. It was also fun for me to test my own animal-obsessed knowledge. Neither one of us got a perfect score, but we learned a lot, talked a lot, and generally enjoyed this book.
Truth or Poop?: The next time we're looking to change up our bedtime reading, I'm going to buy one of the other books in this series. Answer: Truth!

2/5 Exciting idea, disappointing execution
I was really excited by the idea: educational, interactive, entertaining, engaging, social, can be done on your own too...
As I was going through the book, I was happy to see that in spite of the toilet humour in the title, the book did not further indulge (just a couple of exception) and was not poo at all itself. I saw an engaging tone, a few dad jokes to make one smile, some good and fun facts (hence the 2/5). Unfortunately, I also started seeing a few too many wrong additional facts, biased statements, occasionally poor (if not absent) editing/proofreading and fact-checking, contradictory statements, poorly asked questions and developed a growing concern about some of the flow of logic and some of the points made especially aimed at 7-10. And while the cover warned me, I was a little surprised at the choice of illustration style for such a target audience and a subject: the illustration should have been an opportunity to clarify the more obscure additional facts but they seem to be there more as a comedic partner to each one-line truth or false statement.
The end of the book includes a sample of another story that read super interesting until I came across yet another unsavoury clichés. There is so much that their writing says about an author's frame of mind...
Back to this book: exciting idea, fun overall language, disappointing execution that a good editor could have easily turned around.

Absolutely amazing book. I read this one with my husband and he got most of them correct. So what did I like about this book? First guessing what I might already know about the animal. Secondly was learning more about them. I love learning. Third were the humorous drawing the author made in the book. I highly recommend this not only to be read with children, but tobe read by and with other adults. The book is set up so you are asked a question a page between allows you to guess whether it is truth or poop and then the answer and explanation is given. I understand that for the younger child any use of the word poop will bringn them into this book automatically. I say, "Whatever it takes to get a child to read."

It was cool but it did jot give as much facts than it should have

A children's book I imagine. It's like a guessing game. Strange facts and fallacies about animals are presented on one page and the following page tells you if it's true or not. I'm not sure why I wasted my time, but it was a free download so that might explain it.

Awesome Book!
Our grandkids loved this book! Also, I read the book to my husband while on a long drive. We learned some new facts! He thinks he scored 46 correct, but he also taught Science for many years. We also enjoyed the humorous writing. I am ordering paperbacks for the grandkids.
