Dating Rule #1: Do not recycle your ex. But aren't rules meant to be broken?
A year ago Essix “Six” Miller had her heart torn out and stomped to bits. Now she is forced to work closely with the heart-stomper. And he’s begging her for a second chance. Her naughty bits are singing “oh yes," but her heart is full of doubt.
Brendan McConnell, the heart-stomper, has finally taken McConnell’s Bar and Grill from derelict hole in the wall to thriving local sports bar. And he may have a second chance with the one who got away. But the return of his cheating ex-business partner could threaten everything.
Will these two be able to put aside their pasts to give love another chance?
Hi Readers! I am a writer, reader, wife, mother, teacher, and photographer. I married my high school sweetheart - a real-life second chance love story! - and have been a hopeful romantic ever since. When I'm not reading swoon-worthy romances or letting my characters take over my stories, you can find me sipping on a fountain soda with a true crime documentary on TV.
At least I wish that was all I had to do. Usually I'm chasing my two daughters around with my camera, grading papers, or cleaning up after the animals on our mini-farm in rural Maryland (at least goats, chickens, dogs, and cats are cute, right?).
I have a BA in English-Secondary Education, a BA in Psychology, and a Masters of Arts in Liberal Arts where I focused on writing, photography, and juggling. Yes-juggling. I still practice in my kitchen much to the horror of my husband and delight of my kiddos.
This is a well written second chance romance with strong characters in Brendan and Essix. A year after they split , they're reunited at his bar when she attends her best friend's bridal shower. The sparks still there but can they make it this time? The author does a great job building the story and delivers a steamy romance. I enjoyed and would recommend this book.

I love romances and second chance romance is one of my favourites. This story has been written in simple English and moves back and forth between the past and the present. The characters are realistic and the conversations between them are interesting. The book is funny at times and the story is fast paced. I really want to read the other books of the series starting with the first one.
Essix (Six) and Brandan had been a couple until family caused him to ghost her. Now a year later, her best friends Nora and Andrew are getting married and the engagement party after party is being held at McConnell's Bar. This is the bar that Brandan owns. Brandan tries to talk to Six but she is not having it. She is still hurt over what happened between them. The feelings are still them for both of them but until Brandan can explain to Six things can't move forward for them. Brandan is not the type of person to ask for help from others. His brother, Dylan is now causing problems for him. Dylan has come to Brandan and tells him that he is in trouble with a drug dealer and needs money in which Brandan doesn't have. Lizzy, his assistant manager knows about Dylan and she tells Brandan that if he needs money she can help him with it. Things for Six and Brandan were going fine until he said some things to her about her life and she said that it was nice to find out how he felt about her as she walked out his door. As soon as Brandan said what he did, he knew he messed up. He starts calling, texting, and leaving messages on Six's social media and she doesn't answer any of them. Can Brandan ever get Six to talk to him so he can apologize to her? Will Six answer anything from Brandan and if so will she forgive him? I received an ARC of this book and I am leaving my voluntary and honest review.
Six fell hard for Brendan then he ghosted her. She was heartbroken. There had been no signs, everything had been perfect. So when they’re brought together over a year later she has no intention of hearing his excuses. Brendan on the other hand is determined to do everything he can to win back the best thing that ever happened to him. Nora and Andrew’s wedding is fast approaching, Six is the Maid of Honor and Brendan is now the caterer. Talk about complicating things for her. She just wants to avoid him forever and he’s everywhere she turns. Plus he’s doing everything he can to break down her walls. But can she take a second chance on him? She barely got over the break up last time. This is another brilliant addition to the How to series by Karigan. Six and Brendan’s story, both past and present tears at the heartstrings. Again written with an excellent wit that has you giggling in places, but with touching moments that have you reaching for the tissues, this is entertaining throughout. It was great to catch up with Nora and Andrew and read all about their wedding too. Fantastic all round.

This is my first time reading something by Ms. Hale. It is a second chance romance that will have you rooting for the characters right from the start. A very well-written book with a strong storyline that flowed smoothly. Brandon and Essix have a pretty complicated past and he considers her to be the one that got away. They are reunited again at a friend's party and now have a second chance. Can Essix get past the previous hurt and give Brandon another chance? I was pulled into the story right from the start and was invested till the end. A very endearing and passionate story that I really enjoyed reading.

But thought I’d give Brendan and Six a fair try. For characters who supposedly work at a magazine, EDITING, you’d think they would know the proper use of I/me, in a sentence. You’d be oh so wrong. So, for the writer, here’s a tip…if you don’t know when to use which (whoever and me, or whoever and I), if you just remove the first name in the sentence, the correct choice will be obvious. You’re welcome. It was the wrong choice in virtually every instance, in both books. Aside from poor writing, and terrible editing, the story was ok. Not great. Not horrendous. Sorta run-of-the-mill. Nothing I will remember, but nothing I couldn’t bear to finish.
The neighborhood bar needs a little boost even though everyone still floods the place on game days. Six used to be a regular but when you break the heart of the owner you need some space. But time heals and if the spark is still there maybe it is worth a second chance. A steamy romance, but not so steamy you'll skim over it. The tryst do come later in the book after Six and Brendan fall back into their old patterns. BUT the boat gets rocked when Six has a job offer that might mean relocation. What does a girl do? Sweet character and relationship building.
This was a fun, steamy, romantic, second chance love story between Essix, known as Six and Brendan. I enjoyed watching them overcome their pasts and their fears to make a future together. The scenes with Six and her boss were funny and it was fun to read all the drama revolving around the office. It was also interesting to learn why Brendan had broken up with Six a year ago and basically ghosted her. My favorite part was the romantic epilogue. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This second chance romance will have you cheering for the characters from the very beginning. When Brendan and Essix met, she was everything he ever wanted but family drama got in the way and she was the one who got away. When Brendan and Essix are reunited for her best friend's bridal party, one look is all it takes for everything to come rushing back, now Brendan and Essix need to figure out if old feelings rekindling are enough to give love a second chance.
Are there really second chances in love? Can there be sparks a year later? There sure are in this hilarious novel called How to Date Your Ex. Brendan ghosted on Essix (aka Six) a year ago and she hasn’t forgotten him, but she sure doesn’t trust him. When they run into each other at Brendan’s bar at an engagement party, it’s definitely worth trying again. Fun, steamy, well-written!
This is a well-written second chance romance, Brendan and Six have a complicated past and break up, Brendan wants her back but can they overcome the drama that surrounding them to have the chance to make things right? The storyline flows well and the characters are likable. Sweet story, wonderful way to spend the afternoon.
A quirky second chance romance about Brendan and Six. Their breakup or ghosting actually could have been fixed with a call but maybe Brendan needed the time to grow. The characters were good and the story was easy.

I’m a sucker for a second chance love story. The author had me rooting for the couple from the start, and man did I despise Six’s boss! I love a book written in a way that draws you in as if you’re part if the story. I highly recommend this book. It doesn’t disappoint!
This was a smooth flowing book with great character work and a good story line. I was entertained from beginning to end. I look forward to more from this author.

This is my first read from this author and I enjoyed it very much. I didn’t agree with Brendan’s decision on how he ended things with Six but I understood where he was coming from.
I enjoyed Brendan & Essix's book. Good characters. It was an entertaining read. And a new author for me. I received a copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my review.
