Talk To Me In Korean is such a great language learning resource that I wish there were programs like it for other languages, too. I'm consistently impressed with their insight into language and their creativity and this book did not disappoint. I love to read children's books in languages I'm learning already, but TTMIK set out to make a picture book specifically for adult learners and definitely solved a lot of problems I've had. These are the qualities I really appreciated:
1. The pictures really help illustrate what's going on and help the reader use context clues to translate.
2. A lot of the book is dialogue, so you're still getting a sense of how Korean speakers actually speak.
3. It's a good mix of everyday vocab and fun words like onomatopoeia and "spaceship," etc
4. It's a good way to stretch a little past what you already understand. I'm in TTMIK level 3 and this goes up to level 5. so it introduced me to new grammar and vocab naturally.
6. It's a fun way to take a break from listening to lessons, doing workbook exercises and other standard learning techniques!
7. Bilingual printing. I honestly had limited understanding of the Korean text - but some!! I like BASICALLY understood what was happening lol - and the English translations we're helpful in making sense of grammar and vocab I wasn't familiar with. I just had to be careful not to jump down and read the English first.
Aside from being a great language learning tool, it's a cute and fun story. It's very silly and feels a lot like a children's book, but I really enjoyed that. The characters are sweet and it was fun to find out what happened. I'm looking forward to reading it again in the future when I understand more Korean!

This book has 8 chapters and I was able to read it in three days. The book has an interesting story with a commentary on the attachment of people to technology. The book is from Talk To Me in Korean and it says it is aimed at people who are in the 1-5 level range (of their grammar books). I’m working through level 4 currently and understood 60% of the story without looking at the translation. The chapters are short and sweet so why 4 stars? I have questions that were not answered! Who is the man with the feather in his pocket??!! And who are the animals that came out of the white ball?!

Do you want to teach your children a foreign language, do you want to teach them Korean? Do you want to learn Korean? Are you wanting a intermediate novel in Korean? If so this cute book is for you! A wonderful story using short, to medium sentences, simple to complex grammar, and a set of cute wonderful characters! This novel also has direct translations within the book!

this really is such a good resource for learning korean, the story and illustrations are so well done too. It's just all round super enjoyable to read. The TTMIK resources are always the best 🙂↕️
