Mike Stratton pulled over and stopped the car at the top of the rise. The valley below was still as beautiful as it was the first time he and his two friends, Scot and Reddy, saw so many years ago. It was the summer after they graduated from high school. They had taken a trip up California's Highway 49, California's famous Mother Lode Highway. Their trip ended in this beautiful valley. They camped, fished and even met several of the friendly people living in the small village. Jeff knew someday he would come back there to live. Now he had returned, hopefully to fulfill his dream.
Finished this book in one day and just absolutely loved it! Im a sucker for romance so already knew I’d love this book, but I just loved the little tidbits we got in the beginning of the book about how Mike found out about this beautiful sounding place with his best friends and all about the beautiful house he restores I could just picture this house perfectly in my head, and the story we got in the end about the girl and her baby was just amazing and heartbreaking I love that they finally got to put those two to rest. Im not one to usually write reviews about books so apologies for this probably not being the greatest review but I just knew I had to write one about this book because it was truly just a great read. I was so lucky to meet the author when I bought this book and got to have an absolutely wonderful conversation with him.

I loved this book honestly. It was so nostalgic, reminds me of a story you would get told by a loved one. I loved the characters so much, they gave me comfort. The characters, all of them are amazing. The chapters are short which I adore, and the book is only 200 pages! I really loved the ending, it is one of my favourite books so far! I met the author in real life a month or so ago, that is how I was influenced to buy this book, he was really respectful and outgoing, he instantly started talking to me about well everything, such an honour to have met him and to have read his book!
The story itself is great. The characters were cool to meet. I love that it was placed in Northern California. There were some things I had issues with. You couldn't tell when it was a memory and when it wasn't. All the characters were a little too happy and too nice. The writing was a little simplistic at times. The story has potential.
Premise of the book was nice, would have loved to get through it. But it was clear that there was no professional editing. Grammatical errors, punctuation errors, missing words, extra words. It was a mess.
