Something has awoken inside of me. Something ancient and powerful. It sings in my veins a song of glory and pain. I see memories of a life long ago, that couldn’t possibly be mine and yet they feel like coming home. Just when I think I’m losing my mind I find the prophecy of the reborn that speaks terrifying words I know in my heart are true.
I have been reborn.
Yet I’m not alone. There is a man who emerged from the shadows and calls himself the son of night. He is dark, brooding, and sinfully delicious. His name is Thanatos and everywhere he walks the dead rise to greet him. He knows who I was, he knows who I am, and he knows who I’m supposed to become. While he promises not to leave my side until my memories return I’m desperately searching for a way to keep him with me forever.
Olympus calls for me, I feel its power in the air I breathe and dirt under my feet. It is everywhere yet it remains hidden from my eye. My destiny awaits but in order to find my way home I’ll have to solve the dangerous hidden riddles left by the Goddess of Wisdom herself…me.
This may be my second life, but I am Athena and this time nothing will get in my way.
This is a prequel novella to set up the main series.
I love history and Greek Mythology & History … this hit all my buttons. I was hooked the minute it was announced, then when I got the chance to read it as an Arc review… yes please!!!
When this is released, sit down and get comfortable, Chandelle has done it again. She brings together characters and stories, mixing ancient tales with modern life, and then throws some magic, myth, and love in the mix and BAM!!! You’ve got a new idea on ancient stories and history that lets you jump in and say, “Yes Please!”
Sofia is perfect … and as the past & present merge, Athena is re-born and I can’t wait to see everyone reborn too. Hades is still quirky and snarky … Thanatos is yummy and makes me want to study astronomy more “hands on” … can I say I want to be Nyx or her best friend… and everyone else.
If I can say anything bad, I’d that I want more, I want the next story, I want Persephone and I want to see her and Hades and what’s up next with the titans and can we see an underwater death match between Poseidon & Oceanus?
I have so many questions … and also the artwork at the end, OMG… so gorgeous and beautiful, like all the other artwork, my hats off to you both!!!

I was a bit hesitant but at first since Athena was a maiden in most of the myths, but I think it was written wonderfully! I definitely want to know what happens next!
Not as impressed or drawn into the book like I am her other series.
I am a huge Chandelle fan and I love both her other series. That being said, it took me halfway through the book before I really started liking the characters. Before that point I could have stopped the book and read something else. That is saying a lot. Normally I start reading a Chandelle book and am up all night! I can always sleep another day, right? In her other books there are action packed, snarky characters you instantly love and don't forget the hot guys you can't get enough of. The beginning of the book was pretty dare I say boring. Good thing this isn't on her Facebook page I'd get eaten alive. Plus no one is that stupid! Anyway I will say the artwork is stunning. I really started liking the characters about 70% of the way through. Everyone will love Hades most people usually do no matter how he's written. I did like the interesting spin on Archane & Medusa's stories. The way you figure out if you are soulmates for gods is quite funny. I could see a lot of wounds on Mount Olympus in the future.
Where to start. I’ve been a fan of Chandelle’s books for a while now and she NEVER disappoints. This is a whole new series with completely new characters and I LOVED IT. I’ve always loved greek mythology and stories in that world but this one definitely takes the top spot. I discovered new gods and more stories which is great cause usually it’s always the same thing when it comes to greek gods. Athena/Sofia is a badass heroine and Thanatos is definitely more than what we could think of him. Over all it’s a great first book to place the story and get us into it. Chandelle’s humour is still oh so present but there’s a small touch of steam that is not usually present in her books that makes it even more interesting. All that to say, i loved this book, i adore Chandelle and cannot wait for what’s next !
First off, What about this cover!!! That is something that caught my eye right off the bat... This new series caught my attention for many reasons, the cover and Mythology, how can you go wrong... The main character Sophia is smart and well versed in mythology, well before her adventure starts up... Than she meets up with Thanatos and Hades and things really ramp up... This book got my attention and kept it from the very first page and then kept it through the whole book... Anxious to know what was going to happen next and then it leaves you hanging in true Chandelle fashion with one hell of a cliffhanger to make it difficult to wait for the next part of the adventure in the next book... This book was an awesome start to the first adult novel from Chandelle and one that I will definitely want to continue reading...
Okay, I absolutely adore Greek mythology, and have since about high school. I’ve read just about every novel I can get my hands on that has some form of mythology in it, but especially if it’s Greek. Chandelle had an amazing unique idea for Greek retelling and I absolutely loved this prequel. It sucked me in right from the get-go and was unputdownable. I read it all in one sitting. Granted, I was doing a lot of sitting flying across the country. But I’m usually bouncing between reading and playing games on the plane, but I literally could not put this book down. So looking forward to this series. If this prequel is any indication it is going to be phenomenal.
you love Greek Mythology, adventure and mystery, this book is a must read! Chandelle LaVaun who has brought us the world of the coven, has done it again with this book, which is a prequel to a new series. Gods reincarnated, a mystery to find Olympus, magic, love, soulmates, and fights, this book has all that and more. It may start out slow, but the pace soon picks up and it’s full throttle to the end. I loved the characters, the plot was entertaining and I am eagerly awaiting more books in this series when they come out
First of all, Chandelle is an amazingly talented writer with such a creative mind. She knows exactly how to evoke an array of emotions as you read her books. I am a huge fan of Greek Mythology and was so excited when she announced she was writing a book about just that. I loved her take on Athena. The chemistry between Athena and Thanantos is incredible. I could go on about this book, but I don't want to spoil anything in this book. Trust me, if you love Greek Mythology, get this book!!!
Following Sofia and her emotions as she accepts she is not mortal. Using the grimoire she follows the clues finding her friends and parts to the key. Earlier hints that some of their friends will need to be reborn. I became very emotional when Hades released persephone. Thinking he still had 20 to 30 years, before she knew him. Love the soulmate mark and Hades wondering if he had to try and kill his wife. Loved the storyline that Zeus was not the main Greek character. We should see him in later book I think
Who run the world?! Okay, I love me some Greek mythology and this was a spin I haven't come across before. The in-fighting that normally comes with this type of story was thankfully missing. Although, that's probably because the main instigators are currently AWOL and it's going to be a hoot to watch their reactions when their time comes to rise. I loved the idea of gods evolving, rather than returning to their infamous roles- reshaping their destinies. And who knew that 'Ricky' (or was it Lucy? Ethel maybe) was such a teddy bear? Can't wait to read more of this new era of Olympus. Go girls!
I discovered Chandelle's books when a friend gave me The Lost Witch and I was hooked on the Coven series & characters. I already have the same feelings for this new series. It's super exciting to have this prequel story, but now I'm desperate for MORE! I don't want to give away any spoilers. If you've read any of her books, then you'll already know the excellent caliber of story telling to expect. If you have not, then you're in for an amazing treat. The characters come to life and fill friendship holes you didn't know your soul needed. There is a love story woven into the plot and these characters are all consenting adults, so prepare yourself for some sexy gods & goddesses.
This was one heck of a prequel! The only bad thing I have to say is that it was over too soon. I cannot wait to find out more as we dive into the new lives of each of the gods! The story line is such a unique and refreshing take on Greek Mythology that I’m looking forward to each new puzzle! Thanks Chandelle for sucking me into a whole new world…. Again!
This is a brand new world from the amazing mind of Chandelle LaVaun. In it we meet Sofia who is not exactly what or who she thinks she is. When a chance meeting at her college job, everything that she thought she knew changes instantly. In true fashion, Chandelle takes us on an adventure that is action packed and will leave you breathless. This new world is going to be epic, and I can't wait for more
I must admit I was not looking forward to this after becoming addicted to the coven but this author is just amazing. Fantastic new series I can't wait for the next book. Do yourself a favour and buy this book and while your at it by the others by this author especially the coven series you will not be sorry you'll be addicted like me. Well done again Chandelle LaVaun, don't ever stop writing you are one amazing person x
Holy Crackers! So I DEVOURED this... I was drawn in from the first page and just couldn't stop reading until the very last. I love the originality of the story and the characters. The featuring of gods that don't usually get much screen time was totally epic. I loved every character and every storyline that was developed because of their introduction. I am 100% behind what is sure to be some epic romances and I really enjoyed the steam. Can't wait to find out what happens next!
This is the first book I've every read that was about Greek Mythology but I loved it & can't wait to read the rest of the series. I love Chandelle & will read anything she writes. She is one of my favorite authors.
This book makes me want to read up on Greek Mythology & learn more about ancient Greece & Rome. I definitely want to check out that movie that was mention too. Great job Chandelle!
I’m a huge fan of Chandelle’s already anyway. As this is a bit different than her normal series, I went in with an open mind. I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the different take on Greek mythology. It was well written and had a spice level that I wasn’t expecting but enjoyed. This is a more adult novel compared to her other series and I’m here for it! Can’t wait to see what she comes out with next time.
Chandelle has created a great twist on the Greek Gods. 2004, Sofia is a Professor at Harvard. What she is about to learn is that she Athena reborn. And it is up to her to find where she hide Olympus and save the old Gods that are still alive. All while regaining her memories of her life as Athena.
This new series from Chandelle is going to be a great one. Get your copy now.
Sophia/ Athena queen of wisdom is a modern day professor teaching at Harvard and haunted by nightmares since childhood. Vivid nightmares of battles of gods and near death experiences. She had sought counseling but her night demons always seemed to infiltrate her sleep. After class one night, she was met by a shadowy man /god named Thanaos god of death. He took her to the underworld to reclaim her previous life.
A new series based on Greek God mythology with a big twist. This is just the prequel in the series. It kept me captivated so much that I read it all night. Sleep be darned. I loved the humor in it. The reference to I Love Lucy was just hilarious. The heros were interesting. I can't wait to see what is to become of this series. Great job on another hit series.
Non-stop action adventure quest story, with a side of magic and serious steam heat. Loved the comraderie among the newly-awakened, especially the kick-ass women. Enjoyed getting to know more about Greek Gods and Goddesses, and no one writes Soulmate Romances like Chandelle. Great start to new series.
What an original plot and storyline, the way Chandelle LaVaun has put this book together has shown alot of thought and dedication to the possible histories of the Greek Gods and Godesses from the time of the ancient Greek's and Mount Olympus. Well written with a lovely MFC, I recommend it as a damn good read!
I just loved it. The old God's, but with a different spin. It's the story line I didn't know I wanted. The guys are holding the building hile they bind their time waiting for something. Adventures occur to save friends and to find home. Next step is to save their future.
What a most brilliant story, I do love a good story of Greek gods and the trials that they go through. I've always been fascinated with the gods and this book definitely delivered on an amazing tale. I loved all the characters and how Lucy, Ricky and Ethel really brought it home haha made me chuckle. A great start and look forward to more.
I love mythology, and Greek mythology is one of my favorite :D This book read like a charm. It was entertaining, with just the right amount of tense situations and action. The characters were fun and fleshed-out enough (for now), and I just felt like rooting for them from the get-go.
I hope the series will continue, as this book was written a few years ago. I would read the rest for sure!
Chandelle has somehow managed to Make a universe that sucks you in. This is only the beginning for this series and I am obsessed I need more as soon as Possible!!!!!
What an amazing read. I could not stop reading. I read it in 4 hours. It would have been less if I didn't have to cook dinner. Can not wait for the next in the series. Thank you Chandelle!!!!!!
I couldn't put it down. I don't know how ill be able to wait for the next one. Just thank you. I can only imagine the madness in your head. This book was straight Girl Power!!!! Love love love
I don't know why I torture myself like this. Once again I devoured the book, loved every moment and now have to wait for what seems like forever for the next one. Wonderful job my friend!
