Their mission: not only to destroy the CREATURES, but also to put a plan in place for stopping those persistent in keeping the pandemic percolating. The best horror writers know that readers (and listeners) want tense action, scary jump moments and heart pounding anticipation in their stories. But the ones that add human emotion and make you care about the heroes are the ones who are successful. In the third book of the Wicked Awake series Liquor When She's Dead (Best Title Ever!) by my absolute new favorite go to horror author Merrill David we see exactly how to write the perfectly entertaining zombie apocalypse novel.

In the first two books we come to feel connected to our heroes Jake, Mack, Megan and best friend Belgian Malinois K9 Roscoe. ( SPOILER) Then the writer screws with our heads and Jake is infected...but wait...instead of becoming a flesh eating zombie he has super strength but a "I will kill you writer cliffhanger" finds us assuming Jake is dead.

Now in Book 3 Mack is dealing with so much loss as he is assigned a new partner the gorgeous tough redheaded Federal Agent Noreen. They soon realize some don't want the zombie pandemic to end because they have gained enormous power and wealth. Then they get the call...Jake's tracker has gone off!

Another standing ovation for narrator C.J.Grey who can deliver a comedic line like no other. His heightened anxiety voice is so authentic I wanted to call 911 to help him. Also, I have to mention the metal cover band, "Four Finger Bitch Slap!" Except for their female singer and her Grandfather what idiots! Who goes on tour while zombie hoards are eating people! When they steal a little house I stopped everything and just stared at the phone👀.

Seriously, this series is the most fun, twisty, shocking, pure entertainment you will find in horror today. Book 4 is coming in October and I my only note to this phenomenal author is nothing bad can ever happen to Roscoe or I will start my own apocalypse!

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Dear Zombie horror fiction sub genre your lord and savior Mr. Merrill David is elevating his Zombie gospel to new heights with 'Wicked Awake : Liquor When She's Dead', part 3 in the Wicked Awake series and believe me, it's worth all your attention.

In the past two books, Marine Veteran Jake Hathaway managed to unleash Armageddon and then went on a mission with a 'colorful and questionable' team of sidekicks to destroy flesh eating monsters and bring an end to this whole mess.

Now, struggling to clasp his final strands of humanity and with the help of his former police partners, a Belgian Malinois K9 named Roscoe,a petite tattooed blond and additional members of this newly assembled group, a tall voluptuous redheaded Federal Agent and a metal core cover band named Four Finger Bitch Slap, they embark on a new terrifying adventure.

Aiming to destroy the creatures and stop those persistent in keeping the pandemic percolating, the team is once again extremely close to lose their own humanity.

Will Jake and his super-human abilities be of any assistance in this cause? Or is he too far along in the morphosis to be anything other than a hindrance?

What follows is a super fun, action-packed, zombie infested, goretastic thrill-ride, delicious and scary enough to keep you veeeeeery entertained.

Welcome to terror reimagined. The author manages to deliver an upgraded, on steroids follow-up to the already fantastic two books. The creatures are terrific and terrifying, the plot is incredible and super tight and the characters? Well the characters are monsterous, juicy, sexy, fun and definitely well penned and unforgettable,

I received the audiobook version of the book for review and dear God almighty the experience is out of this world. Great narration and pace by C. J Grey, that puts you right in the center of the events and action.

An adrenaline shot to the Zombie horror genre and a superb example of how things are done when eventually altered.

It's a wonderfully crazy Zombie thrillogy trilogy and I'm already craving for part 4.

Original, addictive and just the right amount of gore!

How to begin a review of one of the most unique story lines for a zombie apocalypse series I've read to date? Just like raised! The characters are each so uniquely different and the author really helps you get in their heads. The zombies are perfectly disgusting and the hordes are relentless and particularly vile. Merrill David sucks you in from book one, page one with one nonstop wave of nasty zombie horror, the government side of things and the good folks who round out the lineup to perfection. Bravo! I'm anxious awaiting the next!

The spread of the Zeus flu seems to be overrunning the world

The cursed cannibals and the pancreas pirates are everywhere. Jake and Megan are relatively safe for now. The characters are all way over the top, but it works. The storyline has so many twists and knots that it may never come straight. There's more to come, though. So there's a chance it can get worked out. The author seemed to use most of his alliteration allowance already, but I feel there's more to mess your mind meandering meaninglessly. There's more to come, so be prepared! Another great read.
