Trick Dillon thought he had a perfect life, a job he loved, a beautiful daughter, and the love of his life beside him. But it was all snatched away in an instant. Knowing he has no choice but to go on for the sake of his daughter, he never wants to love again.

When he finds a steer on his property, he’s angry. Not because of the animal being there, but because the owner of that steer makes his heart beat faster.

Rayna Lancaster inherits property in Clifton, Montana, and loves the thought of living there. She moves to the ranch with her St. Bernard, Thumper, and her pet steer, Ferdinand. When Ferdinand breaks the fence and enters the neighbor’s property, Rayna has to go after him. When she meets her neighbor, she is stunned at how devastatingly handsome the man is, but Trick Dillon wants nothing to do with her. Or does he?

Trick tells himself he’s not ready, but he’s so attracted to Rayna, and he can’t seem to stay away from her. He knows no woman will ever replace Kaylee in his heart but is it possible to love Rayna as much as he did his wife and have room in his heart for her too?

Great!

I chose this rating because this is actually a pretty good book. I really enjoy pretty much all of the characters. This was a book of determination, compassion, kindness, getting your life back together, and falling in love again. I really enjoyed Patrick (Trick) and Reyna story. I think the author did an amazing job putting these characters together. Trick went through an emotional tragedy at one point, and he was in a slump. Then he realized that life goes on and he met someone that he fell in love with. Great read! I recommend this book to all cowboy lovers and romance readers.

Great series

I really enjoyed this book. It is one of my favorites of the series.

Trick owns a ranch and trains horses. He meets Kaylee and falls in love with her. They finally had a daughter after Kaylee had suffered muktiple miscarriages. Life was great, until on night. Kaylee was killed in a horrible car crash.
It has been 3 years now but Trick is still suffering with the loss of his beloved wife. He is raising his daughter, Harlee, on his own.

Rayna is a widow. Her husband died when he killed himself rather than risk going to prison after embezzling millions from his company. Rayna is an accomplished painter and she recently inherited her aunt's ranch after her aunt passed. She chose to move from Alabama to Montana to start her life over.
I really liked Rayna. She is full of spunk and is trying her best to live her life. She has a St Bernard named Thumper and a pet steer named Ferdinand.

When Trick and Rayna meet, sparks fly, and not necessarily the good kind. We see a relationship grow between them while they try to find a way to deal with their pasts.

I really liked this story. It isn't necessary tonread the other books in the series first but they are also great stories.

This book had all the feelings!!

Reading about Trick gave me a wide range of emotions. To read about the loss of his wife and his deep seated grief he had and the way that he loved her, broke my heart. Then to see him be this amazing father to his little girl, made my heart warm. Then enters Rayna, who the first time he meets her, he is awful to, made me want to throat punch him.

I really liked the character of Rayna. I felt like she was so relatable. She had her own story to tell and hurt she was dealing with but she was patient with Trick. I liked when she was happy with him but also when she stood up for herself with him.

I also liked the friendship Rayna had with Tess. I love reading about women who actually are kind to each other and support each other.

However, my favorite part of this book happened twice. Both times it had to deal with Tess and Rayna talking about men. I loved the conversation about all the hot men and her husband is sitting right there. The other time was at the bar when they were talking about the sexy sheriff and Sam gets all flustered.

Right off the bat, this story had my wiping tears from my eyes! I don't normally get emotional that quick but Ms. Davis slammed dunked this prologue. Trick lost his wife in a car crash and is left to raise the daughter they struggled to have. When Rayne comes into the picture, she has recently moved after inheriting her Aunt's ranch. Her husband is dead (I won't say how) and she needs a new start. This story was full of emotions and will probably end up one of my favorites in this series. Their first meeting is "rocky" but I loved watching a relationship develop between them. It will tug at your heart as you read about them trying to come to grips with what's happening! I loved this so hard!

A new beginning romance for Trick

This is book seventeen and features Trick, a truly good guy, who is a single father due to a tragic accident that took the life of his wife Kaylee. Trick is lost in his grief, but his parents and in-laws are trying to help him find his way out. Trick has a wonderful little girl named Harlee who needs her dad. Trick is trying but is super caught off guard by his new neighbor Rayna. She inherited the ranch near his. Rayna is beautiful, both inside and outside, but Trick is feeling guilty for even noticing Rayna. There is a happy ending. Read On!

To lose a beloved wife is something you can’t get over. And losing a sorry husband is a shameful thing especially when he commits suicide.
When her steer trampled over his fence and proceeded to eat his grass, he was irate and called the sheriff. The next time he confronted her and told her that he would send the steer to the slaughter house. The next time he stormed over to her house and ended up make mad passionate love. But he still loved his dead wife and felt guilty for wanting more of her.
Enjoy

Second Chance at Love

Trick: WOW! Fantastic story and characters. It was a very emotion story! It was a very touching story! Trick and Rayna were the right much for each other. She was the one women that help him through his list after 3 years. Harlee loved her Daddy so much and know that he was struggling even though she was going but she wanted to see him happy. I really enjoyed his story.

Tick Dillon has loved & lost, therefore closing off his heart to love again. Rayna Lancaster moves in next door and starts to awaken long buried feelings in Trick. Does he have room in his heart for another woman? Can Rayne help trick learn to love again? You'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll really be cheering for love! Another great one from Susan Fisher Davis!
