George Boyle was first editor of the Extension Bulletin and the Maritime Co-operator, official organ of the "Antigonish Movement." and long-time vehicle of (Father Jimmy) Tompkins' genius. He is a native Nova Scotian and professor of English at St. Francis Xavier University, whose present status in academic circles may safely be attributed to Tompkins' vision. He has been a newspaper man for 27 years, working variously as a reporter in Florida, Washington, D.C., and New York City, and writes with the finesse of a practiced journalist. And he has published three successful books bearing on the problems of adult education and cooperation: Democracy's Second Chance, The Poor Man's Prayer, and Pioneer in Purple.
