This is a wonderdul resource for both children and adults. I read this when I saw it was offered on KindleUnlimited and after not hearing of it prior, I was interested in knowing more.

I loved this, and I think it would be beneficial for people of all backgrounds to read. With how white washed our history is, so much of the information provided is left unknown. I wasn’t taught about any of these people growing up.

It made me proud to read about these influential native people. To know our people have contributed so much to society and history. People truly like to think of us as entirely colonized/non-existent and this shows that is not true.

What’s wonderful is how it spans native people through time, up until the present. You get to learn about all the ways they resisted and persevered.

Such an awesome read and I will be recommending it highly.

This book includes 15 well-written and accessible biographies for students to access on important Native Americans in history. So often students see Native Americans as in the past instead of part of our every day and this book helps open students eyes to the role of Native Americans from the past to the present.

I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher. Jimmy Beason tells the story of twelve Indigenous role models, each of whom defied expectations to become leaders for change.
