First of all, in the interest of disclosure, I received an advance review copy from the publisher.
But I genuinely adored this book. First of all, it’s beautiful—the artwork and purple color scheme just made the book pleasant to look at, which is always nice.
But more than that, Vanderbeck comes at the topic of emotional healing and health with a compassionate, forthright tone—neither denying the amount of work it can take nor making it seem unattainable. The way the book progresses through topics—moving from identifying your feelings, to figuring out their origins, to working on yourself, to working on relationships, and finally to how to carry the work forwards—is smart and practical, and every step is careful not to fall into the common trap of downplaying the work, or claiming that negative emotions are bad and should be gone forever. The book also is careful to allow the healing in question to be left entirely up to the reader—Vanderbeck isn’t prescriptive about things that “have” to happen for you to be “better.”
I thought I’d just read the book quickly for review purposes, but within the first chapter found myself reaching for a highlighter to single out lines and points that spoke to me. I can’t wait to go through it again with a journal and time to fully immerse myself in the book and it’s lessons.
This is a thoughtfully-written book for witches at any level of experience. Vanderbeck includes accessible activities aimed at emotional healing that will appeal to a wide variety of witches — using crystals & stones, astrology, herbs & oils, divination, bodywork, and journaling. She avoids ableism and cultural appropriation, focusing on building and adapting personal practices. Reading this book was like reading letters from a wise friend invested in my wholeness. Highly recommended.

I loved this book. I read it in 2 sessions and put a lot of the information directly to use in my everyday life. I felt like a friend was speaking to me through the pages. Lots of great information for witches and non witches.
A good basic witchy reference with a focus on mental health and wellbeing. Some of the "rituals" are just good mental health activities to try. A lot of this is just smart ideas whether you're into witchcraft or not.
