WTF kinda ending was that? I just... I just don't know what the author was thinking. Does she really expect me to buy that BS?
SOooo this book is darker than the first 3. Caleb finally goes to check out the ghost pack and it wasn't what he was expecting in many ways, except one. It was all that he had been searching for, for the last decade wrapped up in one pretty wolf. But things are pretty twisted there. And the crazy grandma ain't the nice kind making jam and cookies.
Throw in some werewolf hunters and the possibility of even more ugliness and I was getting kinda stressed out listening to this one. But I was invested and wanted to find out how Caleb survives AND gets the girl. Cause it seemed the odds against him were astronomical. There's only 5% of the book left, how can the author end this well without a cliffhanger?
And then the author pulls the a deus ex machina out of her ass. And everybody is all smiles and kumbia singing... including crazy Grandma, after a couple paragraphs of explanation about why she'd been so demented over the years. Does anything happen to Grandma's psycho henchman? Nope. Does anything happen to Grandma nope.
Will I read this author again? Nope
Don't you just hate that, when you love something you read by a new author and keep trying more by said author, only to be disappointed time and again...

So it’s implied that everyone’s ancestors are Native American but everyone’s white and the author totally ruined a great opportunity to add some diversity but instead we get a bunch of pale blondes...anyways
I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue with this series, I loved the first two books but the third one was such a disappointment, basically dropping the main characters story and using them instead to set up everyone else’s story then getting an abrupt vague ending.
This book wasn’t terrible since it gave new information and we learn more about the packs and kind of get to see how everyones life turned out (the author hides the names of everyone’s kids and I don’t know why????) but again another abrupt ending that didn’t really make sense, all conflict is just dropped and it’s like the most random happy ending. Overall just an ok book but there didn’t seem to be a real connection between Caleb and Dru, I really don’t think it added much to the series
I wasn’t going to read this, I didn’t love the previous books, but was curious if we’d get future details after that vague epilogue from book 3. (we don’t) Unfortunately, the original peeps don’t come on to the scene until about 70% and it’s just as vague as ever. Like… Dom and Jess are feeding a bunch of kids and only say “they’re not all mine”. Do they have more than the twins? What are their names? Who’s kids are they? There’s no mention of Nicky, and Payne is only in one scene despite being his ½ brother. The dad and Wren are on vacation, so nothing there. (Why isn't Monster with his parents on vacay. He's a teenager, I'm assuming Lincoln is) Hank’s around, but is he still with Jess’s mom? The only detail we’re given is that Leah is preggers.
It is darker than the previous books (IMO) when Caleb finally arrives at the Ghost pack, some crazy shit is going on, but then things headed south for me because it started to feel the same. Dru is pretty much Jess with a different name…
The Alpha usually leads, Caleb informed me, racing to catch up. Then he should be faster, I replied carelessly
..and like the third book, we have a rushed ending with the villain mother figure having a personality transplant and becoming good out of the blue. In this case it’s Dru’s gma who was 1000X’s worse than Jess’s mom, and POOF all is forgiven with a half-assed explanation and ZERO comeuppance or remorse. And all the “resolution” happened off page with no details.
There are SO many loose ends that it felt like the author hit a deadline and finished the book in an afternoon. How is the gma forgiven for all the terrible stuff she’s done? Pushing aside all the werewolves she’s done wrong, she almost killed Caleb and no one cares… even his mate that’s been abused for years… all’s good. Can Paige heal Liam’s leg? Do they join Dom’s pack? What happened with the hunters? What’s the deal with Gregory, what did he do? What about Caleb’s relationships with his mother and Payne?
Bottom line- This was rushed and underdeveloped. You can’t spray Febreze on your gym clothes and call them clean. It was also missing all the secondary character connections that took up so much of the previous four books. There was a teaser for a Paige/Monster mating, but I’m stopping here.

I really hated this book. I read for pleasure and emotions, but if book gives me only negativity, disgust and pain,it is not worth it. If I could dismiss all that, then I can't rate highly a book with one of most ridiculous ending. It was abrupt 180° with flimsy explaining and not quite cliffhanger, but definitely no wrapping up of story. You can't build up a big pile of shit just to slap a rose on top and call it rose garden.
Lone Wolf By Kristin Coley The Pack Book 4 Urban Fantasy | Paranormal Romance | Shifters
I thought I knew what I was getting with Caleb's story but I had no idea. Coley just blew up my world by not only finally hinting at the shifter origin story but by introducing new characters that were accompanied by the most dramatic plot twist, thereby expanding the world of the Pack series that much more. To say that I was shocked was an understatement. I have so many questions now.
I will admit that I wasn't as excited for Lone Wolf because it didn't center on the previous characters, Dom and Jess. I thought I wouldn't love it as much but I was wrong. I loved seeing all my favorite characters again, it was like catching up with friends. Plus, Caleb was an important character and I enjoyed seeing him finally come into his own. This story was a fascinating addition with all the new elements. There was mystery, intrigue, heartfelt bonds, and danger. Coley crafted a fantastic backstory that blends right into the present and helps blend this book with the rest of the series.
Lone Wolf was excellent, I'm so glad I gave Caleb's story a try. I really don't want to say goodbye to this series, it feels like more could be told but Caleb's story was a perfect ending. A HEA for all in the pack.
I throughly enjoyed this series. Each book left me curious and wanting more. Each book was filled with mystery and curiosity. Each book, especially the first two kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Book four should have been book two since it was a retelling of book one from the main male character’s point of view. But that’s the only con of this series. This is not an interconnected stand alone series. With the exception of book four, each book has to be read in order so that the story makes sense. There is a lot of mention of blood and death in this series as shifters protect their mates from rivaling male shifters and other threats to their pack. But it’s not too detailed in such a way that it would turn your stomach.
I think this series has thrusted me into my shifter era…and I don’t mind at all. 😊
Tropes in this series: Wolf Shifters Witches (last book) Half Witch-Half Wolf Hybrids (last book) Found Family Touch Her And Die Dom/Sub (not in the traditional sense) Teacher/Student
Yay im so glad caleb got his HEA. This book was full of drama, suspense, action and mystery. Definitely enjoyed seeing Dom and Jess. This is one of my favourite wolfy series so seeing them again was awesome.
The characters were great and complimented each other so well. The world building was great. I enjoyed how there was more supernatural in this than the previous books in the series as those were focused more on wolves but this one added an extra something with the additional supe. I also loved the history tale and how the author interpreted that origin.
There is really nothing bad i can say about this book. I feel like its not an absolute must to read the first books in the series to enjoy this as it explains a lot of who the characters are etc but it would definitely help. Otherwise you wont be lost completely if you didnt so this would be a great fun paranormal read on its own.
I sure hope there is another book or series to follow this one. I looked it up on Kristin's website and she has been planning on writing another to follow this one: "I plan to write another book in the series but it will be about Monster." but this has been posted for a couple years.
This book definitely does not finish the series. If anything, this one ended too quickly and did not expand on soooo much with this incoming Ghost Pack. There could be an entire new series just based on this new pack and their unique abilities...and I would say that they could be even better books than this series.
Come on Kristin!! I look forward to the next one; and I really do hope its Monster's story!
I was hesitant to read Caleb because of how his character was when he was younger. I’m so glad the story was much later in age to tell his story. I loved it from beginning to end. It was tough to read the hard parts, but I loved how it all came together. I loved the pack still accepted Caleb and Dru is so fierce. I didn’t expect the ending nor her issue with magic, but it was wonderfully done. Now for Monster’s story!
Werewolves and Magic I’m loving this series and feel that each story just gets better and better. Lone Wolf tells Caleb and Dru’s story. Caleb’s world finally feels settled once he meets Dru but they have a lot to get through before they get their happy ending. Full of anger, torture, betrayal and love made this story an excellent addition to the series and as always I loved the narration by Beth Roeg and Paul Brion.
I am so glad to finally get this story! I hated that at the end of Jess & Dom's story that Caleb went to wander sort of taking on Trent's role as a pseudo-lone wolf. This story had me laughing, screaming in frustration, and even shedding a few tears. I feel far more content as this story closes than I have with a book in a long time.
Really good story but I felt like an entire chapter was missing of Dru accepting her powers. It was like she literally just woke up and had them period. Then the Gran is this big evil they have to destroy and then they go back and she is all smiles and not evil?
I rally liked this book. It took me a chapter or two to really get into the story but then I steamrolled through it. I enjoyed the creation story, I head always wondered that in the previous books with Jess learning about wolves. I hope to read more books like Monster and Paige, Anna and Trent, Leah and Liam.
I absolutely loved the series great character build up expectations are met and the storyline flows so well it’s hard to not be hooked. I look forward to reading about Monsters/Theo and Paiges relationship I am sure it will be just as awesome as the rest of this series! A definite recommend
Oh this story definitely took a twist. I loved the history in it and honestly wished it was longer so it could get more detailed but I loved it. Loved being able to catch up with my faves from the first three books too. I hope we get Monsters story next. And a HEA for Dylan somehow too. Must read.
Practically came upon the book by mistake because I thought it would be an end to the series... But I have always like Caleb's character so this ending was befitting... He deserved his happiness and so did the new generation members... It should not only be about Dom and Jess... There were others and I like how the author captured all...
I hope there are more books to come about the Pack- Monster and Page’s story. I have read all of the books. They are a lot of fun and held my interest. This one was unique in that it involved other supernaturals than just shifters. I just wish there was more romance between Dru and Caleb in the story ♥️
I actually thoroughly enjoyed this new space and this side of Caleb. This was an unexpected experience for the last book but absolutely left an open ending for more pack content. I’ll admit there is a certain element that I left me feeling like the other books in this series was lacking. I think it was that extra splash of magical momentum.
This was good. It gave Coley's idea of where "werewolves" came from and really brought a close to some of the things that felt a little open ended about Caleb specifically. I do feel like I was confused a lot more often on what was happening and didn't feel like I understood anything until the final scenes when the dots connected. Still a great story.
I was sceptical at the beginning...but I fell in love with this series!! The characters each have their own amazing story! Please read the WHOLE series! So worth it!!
So yes, I am 100% into the brooding male, Dom of course. But it I was such a perfect story for Caleb. He is such a loving character that you cannot help but to love him. All the turmoil he went through. He gets his mate and a kick ass one at that. Perfect.
I really enjoyed Caleb's story. I wish it was long. Would love to know what happened with Monster and Paige. I have so many questions that I fear will never be answered. Over all though it was a great story.
Caleb story was worth the wait. He has matured so much much from the first book. I'm happy that he found his soulmate. Please tell me the next book is Monster story.
