The morning after the world’s most epically clichéd breakup, Luc finds himself staring into the most gorgeous brown eyes he’s ever seen. Just his luck, they belong to a Neapolitan Mastiff watching him from the back window of a Honda. Luc snaps a picture for his Instagram collection of amazing dog faces then notices the driver of the car staring at him in the rearview mirror. Convinced he’s about to be screamed at or worse, Luc gets the heck out of there and heads for his job as a vet tech at an emergency clinic. He posts the photo at lunch, and, by the time he gets home, he’s got over a thousand likes and a DM from the dog’s owner. Is he about to go from clichéd breakup to best meet cute ever? (7500-word standalone short story)

this was really cute and i enjoyed the writing style a lot but it felt like there just wasn’t much substance for me to really grab onto.

the two mcs talk on ig once and then when they finally meet, at the end of their first date they’re like, “we’ll never break up!” like okay? didn’t realize one kiss meant you were officially together but cool…. but i get it; the story’s suuuuper short, so w/e, we don’t have time really develop the relationship in a meaningful way.

the writing really was good, tho, so i suspect i’ll be reading more of Marie’s work at some point.

3 stars.

2.5* it's very cute and light but there's not enough to it to rate higher, I've actually forgotten the characters names already.

Cute dogs for the win!

The narration has a lot of character, gushing enthusiasm, definite personality.
It takes breath for some odd Dog-loyal vs Cat-loyal thoughts that felt out of tone and I'm not sure what point was being made there, to me it seemed he was arguing for an open relationship not saying he was ready for a new one. But they were talking together forever by the end of their first meeting.

I'm caught on asking someone for a date when you've only seen them helmeted on a bike behind your car.

But there are cute dogs. I love dogs.

Stop this was such an adorable novella!! I loved the MCs, both of them really sweet and then there were dogs in this story and I was just swooning! I will definitely read their full lengthened novel.

I found it to be super cute. Very well written. In my opinion the other reviews are too cruel.
I understand that this is a short story, a sample of authors work. If you liked it and want a longer, more elaborate story, you go and BUY a longer story, not bad rate this one.

This was unbelievably cute. It’s pretty short, but it still works. Luc is a vet tech who enjoys taking pictures of dogs for his Instagram in his spare time. On his way to work one morning, the day after a shitty but somewhat cliché breakup, he spots a cute dog in the rear window of someone’s car and snaps a picture. This dog belongs to Elliott, who gets in contact with Luc once Luc’s posted the picture online. Then they go on a date (dogs included) and it’s all very cute. This whole story is basically just Luc and Elliott’s meet-cute, and it’s adorable. Luc is a sweetheart, and Elliott seems like a very nice man (family bakery owner approved), and this is clearly the start of what could be a very good relationship. Very sweet, would recommend.

I picked up this extremely slight "romance" (more of a meet-cute, really; they only have a couple hours' worth of interaction) in a giveaway. It's both too short for character and relationship development, but at the same time larded with extraneous matter. For instance, the "epic breakup" in the blurb isn't really relevant and the story would be stronger without it (he got cheated on yesterday, seems to have mostly moved on by the end of the day).

Positives: cute dogs, descriptions of San Francisco sights. This is probably most enjoyable for Bay Area locals.

I love all these beautiful, fluffy, romantic short stories from this author. But with each book, I'm always left wanting more because in my opinion, there is a missing epilogue. In this story, we meet a cute meet with a motorcyclist who just got out of a breakup and a car driver who has 2 beautiful dogs. I would have liked to see the reaction of the baker who finally sees the end of this relationship that she was hoping for.

This was super cute and fluffy. Unfortunately it was also very short which didn’t give me enough character build. And the premise is a bit too fantastical - I mean, the professor asks the vet for a date without having even seen his face or having spoken to him? However when they meet they are super cute together, and the doggies were so sweet too!

Two cute young men, two gorgeous dogs, and an insta love, what more could you want in a story! After a painful breakup Luc never expected to look in the eyes of someone the very next day, love is so unexpected but also so healing. A gentle short tale, it would've been nice to read more of these two, it had such a sudden ending.

Really sweet in the moment and I remember it being sweet, but to be honest after a couple of weeks I couldn’t tell you many plot points from this and even though it was only a Novella I’d expect to remember more :/
But it was really sweet. And what I remember was good. So it’s tough to rate.

A cute little story I got for free. A vet tech has an Instagram account of interesting dogs. He takes a pic of a dog in traffic and is nervous the owner will be upset as he didn't have permission. However he asks him on a date and they get together. No big drama, just 2 guys and 2 dogs.

Really really cute with likable MCs Luc and Elliott, and Rothy & Bey! But it was too short for any kind of character or relationship building. This reads mostly like the prologue or first chapter of something longer.

Super cute, short m/m romance. I will definitely be checking out other books by this author, after this little taste of her writing.

A very cute meet cute, but far too short for any depth. This is my first experience with this author, so we'll have to see how it goes.

Doggie meet-cute, set in San Francisco. Post breakup, a professor and a vet tech meet through an improbable Instagram photo. A day in Golden Gate Park seals the deal.

Was a cute little story but is was basically a tourism guide for San Francisco. Nothing wrong with that if you know that's what you're picking up to read.
