Grand Love #1

Grand Escape

Rate this book
With sultry beach vibes, Caribbean tunes playing in the background, and the smell of coconut and money all around, welcome to the Grand Escape.

Blond and beautiful Rylan needed to escape her life, so she ran off to a job in paradise. Surrounded by fresh salt air and the ocean waves lapping in the background, she now mixes drinks better than any other bartender at the Grand Escape.

It’s the perfect situation for a commitment-phobic woman, who wants to be nothing like the family she was born into. Each week, guests check in, spend time at her bar, and then go home.

Until the day some heartsick jerk who checked in under just his initial and last name sits down at her bar.

With sad eyes and a gritty voice, A. Stern is more than Rylan bargained for, so it’s a good thing she no longer gets tangled up with men. But this lawyer by day, alpha by night, keeps pushing his way through the barricade she’s built around her heart.

Thinking she knows why he’s heartbroken, she’s determined not to be his next victim, but he continues to shatter all her misconceptions.

With only a week until his vacation ends, can she avoid falling for the guy at the end of her bar? And can he manage to capture the heart of the only woman who has made him want to try again?

Grand Escape came at the perfect time for me. It's so cold and wintery right now and the Grand Cayman Islands is where I want to be! It's actually where I honeymooned at so I have fond memories of it.

Rylan wasn't happy with the life she was living, so she decided to set herself free and ended up on a beautiful island working at an upscale resort. She's been there the better part of a decade and she loves it. It's home to her and some of the island locals and her coworkers are family. She spends most of her days tending bar and avoiding commitments.

Then he shows up. Adam Stern. An attorney from Michigan of all places who is taking a break from his life. Rylan can tell Adam is sad, and though she doesn't get involved with vacationers, Adam is different. Rylan and Adam have this pull to one another. Though Adam is only there for a week, it's a week neither one of them will ever forget.

These types of books sometimes stress me out because I know there isn't going to be an easy way for the couple to be together. Rylan loves her job and where she lives, and Adam has a law firm in Michigan. It seems impossible, but I loved the way the details were worked out. The end of this one left a huge smile on my face.

If you're looking to be swept off your feet by this fantastic island romance with a wonderful heroine and swoony hero, check out Grand Escape by Rachel Baulfeld!

It’s a “grand escape” to the picturesque Cayman Islands, and I didn’t even have to leave my comfy chair to stand in line, go through Customs or sit in an airport with grumpy passengers awaiting delayed flights.

This is the first book in Rachel Blaufeld’s new “Grand Love” series. Rylan Phillips and Adam Stern are likable main characters who are both swimming in troubled waters. The attraction between them was immediate, but the building relationship was a bit of a slow burn with a break of six months. Their interactions -- for the most part -- were filled with smart, witty and hilarious back and forth dialogue. Along with them, the author delivers a variety of secondary characters that add to the storyline immensely. The book is a well-balanced mix of angst, sexy, steamy, and sweet. And, of course, the island setting only adds beauty, color and detail to the romance between the island's favorite lady bartender and the handsome divorce attorney from Michigan.

This book is an easy read and a perfect escape from the rush of the holidays. Love Is Grand will be the second book in this series, but no information is available on the release date.

Heartfelt, charming, and brimming with passion, this story had so much heart I could re read this book over and over.

Adam & Rylan’s story begins when they meet by chance in a beautiful resort in the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Islands imagery was perfect so I was transported into a beautiful place I didn’t want to leave!
Despite their instant attraction, their painful personal baggage got in the way of moving forward. They have so much going against them, yet, they have this spark that was natural and so relatable. Adam is simply lickable and Rylan was sass and grit. They’re both such likable yet complicated characters with a ton of baggage and big hearts.

Theirs was a touching and passionate story of love, self discovery, and second chances!

The best part of this story is discovering how their slow burn sexual tension evolved and developed in the midst of miscommunication and missed opportunities.

I need a little bit of time to form the review in my head.

"Grand Escape" is not your typical book, where the MC meet and the next minute they throw themselves in bed. This book is about two people that were afraid to start a relationship and trust someone new, because they have been either hurt in the past or suffered a lost.

Even for a short time Adam and Rylan got to know each other. It was difficult for both of them, but they managed to find love.

What I liked particular about Adam was that he was very patient with Rylan. She was independent, but she still couldn't resist Adam.

Don't get me wrong, but the last couple of years I realized that I want the person next to me to get to know me. Get to know me like: wants to know my hobbies, my likes, my struggles, what makes me happy and then fall in love with me and take me to bed.

So for me this book was quite good, because the things between them weren't rushed and I enjoyed reading it.

I received an ARC from Valentine PR for my honest review.

Rylan escaped her overbearing parents to live the life she wants at a getaway resort but she’s under no illusions. She knows there are no princes to sweep her off of her feet or happy endings to her story because this is reality. But then she meets a handsome stranger who wants more than a vacation fling and it complicates her life. After all, there’s no way a relationship like theirs could really work, Adam is delusional.

Adam is sweet and funny and Rylan’s likable even though she’s a bit harsh at times. Her family life was horrible so it’s no wonder she’s so prickly. He does everything he can to make her see that what they have is real, but Rylan can’t accept it. She’s so sure that happiness isn’t available to her that she can’t recognize it even when it’s right in front of her face. This is a story about reconciling who you really are with who you’ve always assumed yourself to be and it’s an interesting dilemma. This is a steamy second chance romance that’s equal parts romance and comedy, with a fun supporting cast helping the lovebirds along.

This story was definitely a great escape and transported me easily to another world. A warm breeze, refreshing and hot at the same time.

Two people who collided so beautifully in that one. The sassy bartender and the mysterious man who was supposed to be temporary.
Rylan met Adam, the atmosphere was already charged with something intense. A powerful connection to a stranger happening so fast.

Rylan was enjoying her life and not letting people tell her what to do, a bohemian soul with a big heart and commitment-phobe. It took one to know one. When Adam arrived at the resort, he was like a lost soul living through the motions, until Rylan. I enjoyed watching their relationship blossom, not without some hardships to overcome along the way.

I appreciated how the main characters evolved throughout the story, especially as individuals and so great together. A delicious cocktail , explosive and sweet with endearing characters.

It was charming and I could feel the magic in the air. I was rooting for these two from the beginning. The warming place and beautiful scenery provided a delightful setting. A lighthearted mood with a melancholic side. I had a pleasant moment of escape here.

This is absolutely a great love story!

Adam and Rylan are the most unlikely people to be together. Adam is a lawyer from Wisconsin, but works there and New York with his brother Cal. They are two of triplets. There sister passed away two years ago. Adam goes to the Grand Escape for a vacation to try and rid himself of the guilt he feels for being partly responsible for is sister’s death. He needs to move on. Rylan works as a bartender there, for ten years now. Her parents are rich and old fashioned, but she couldn’t bring herself to live that way. Her parents have disowned her. But, she is a free spirit and loves her life in the Cayman Islands. She has a very high wall built up around her. Of course, they meet when Adam goes to the bar for drink. The rest is history. It’s a long haul for the two of them to even think of being together. Can they break each other’s walls down? This book is a great way to go along for the ride with them. Adam is determined, but Rylan keeps pushing him away. This is a great love story and a very steamy one at that. Looking forward to reading the next book.

Rylan and Adam! Such a sweet and sexy couple!
Adam goes to the Cayman Island when he need some time to process his sisters death. It’s everywhere he looks. He failed her as a brother. A triplet brother at that. He blames himself for her death and it’s been eating him up inside.
He lands and on the first night meets Rylan. The bartender. The bartender that is so beautiful!
A Stern. Gorgeous and obviously depressed. Sad and lonely. A huge reason she doesn’t mingle with the customers. She did it once and never again!
But this guy. He’s different. He’s persistant. He’s after her and he’s relentless. And she likes it!
One week fling turns out to be more for him and her but she refuses to see it and change her way of thinking. He’s gone it’s over… well until Adam has ideas on how to get her back and not just back they need a life change!
Perfect timing for this fun couple!
Makes me want to go on vacation!!

Having read Ms.Blaufeld's work a few times before i've been wanting to pick up more of her books this year. From the moment this one was announced the synopsis caught my eye right away. I knew i had to read it next! I picked it up as soon as i could and got into the Grand Love world! I so enjoyed this story!

Rylan and Adam's journey pulled me in right from their very first meeting! I really liked how these two were brought together and their conversations. I enjoyed getting to dig deeper with both characters and the way they had me feeling many things. The chemistry between them was so great! I couldn't wait to see how their story would play out.

With Grand Escape, Ms.Blaufeld has created such a good read with feels and heat that will grab your attention so quickly! This story definitely is making me want my very own Grand Escape! I can't wait to read what she comes up with next!

Grand Escape is the perfect island getaway right now. Rylan moved to the Cayman Islands at 18 and has been bartending ever since. She is independent and set in her ways, no commitment or strings attached to anything like it was with her parents. That is until the day a guest appears and throws her off balance. Although Rylan has her rules and wall built up, A. Stern makes him mark and won't back down. A. Stern has been in a dark rut for a while now and while Rylan thinks she knows whats got him upset, A. Stern keeps proving her wrong. These two constantly dance around each other until the chemistry is too hard to deny. However, will Rylans commitment-phobia hold back a possible future or will she be open to new experiences? Grand Escape will take you on a fun, flirty, with a bit a emotional whiplash that will have you wanting to see how things work out.

This was such a beautiful story from beginning to end! The writing flowed well and the story read like I was reading and watching a movie. I truly felt like I was at the resort on Grand Cayman.

Rylan left her home when she was 18 and moved to the Cayman Islands and works as a bartender at a resort. Adam is on vacation to heal his broken heart (but it's not what you think!). There's instant attraction between Rylan and Adam even though Rylan is a strong, independent woman who just wants to live her life on the islands and has issues with commitment. There's almost an insta-love between the two even though she fights against it. I really enjoyed the growth that both of the characters had throughout the story.

Read this one when you want some romance (with a few open door scenes) and want to escape to a tropical paradise!

Thank you to the author and Grey's Promotions for my advanced copy. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Grand Escape by Rachel Blaufeld is the first book I have read by this author. It was a prefect book to read to escape into for a few hours.
Rylan is a woman who wanted to change her life, so she moves to the Caribbean to find her new life. She takes a job in the resort Grand Escape. A perfect name for a holiday resort.
While working she meets Adam. The attraction is there instantly for them both, but Rylan has sworn off relationships. Adam as Rylan puts it when they met has sad eyes, so she knows there is something he is dealing with in life.
The chemistry is perfect between the two. The author did a good job of making me care about them both.
Thank you NetGalley, Rachel Blaufeld and Rachel Blaufeld Publishing for the ARC of the Grand Escape. This is my personal review.

Grand Escape by Rachel Blaufeld.

I absolutely loved this book. It is so touching and heartwarming. You can feel Adams pain toward the loss of his sister. The guilt is palpable it jumps right at you while you read. Ryan had a life of luxury which she left at the age of 18. She meets Adam while working at the bar on the resort. Their story is a slow burn romance. It is filled with amazing characters along with great secondary characters. It is fun, adventures and has lots of steamy sexy moments. I can’t wait to see who’s story is next.

This was such a sweet and quick read. I loved Adam and his personality. He was sweet and caring as well as supportive. Rylan was perfect for him. She was snarky and funny and really pushed Adam to leave things behind. The story was set in a beautiful location with awesome characters that made the story more interesting. I loved the story line and the idea of a a found family.

I really really enjoyed this book a lot, who doesn’t love a holiday romance.

☀️ Forced Proximity
☀️ Holiday Romance
☀️ Billionaire
☀️ Slowburn
☀️ Instalust

Rylan and Adam met over the bar where Rylan has been working for over a decade. I think for Adam it was definitely lust at first sight. He really wound her up though and Rylan was definitely not that in to him at all.

It’s amazing what a bit of perseverance can do though! This pair regardless of what Rylan was thinking actually did hit it off. She definitely has her reasons not to get involved but are they enough to let a great thing pass.

I really enjoyed the storyline of this book, it had so much fun and laughter along with a lot of sexual chemistry and some great characters.

I enjoyed the ending and thought it was really heartwarming, however I would of liked to have seen more at the end. This girl loves a good epilogue haha.

Great beach read, easy, quick and good for the soul.

Truly a great escape from life and winter weather. Great characters and a fun and engaging story of two peoples unexpected journey to love. Rylan is a smart and sassy free spirit living life on her terms and Adam is a workaholic. Loved the banter between these two and the way the story flowed and made me want to spend time in Grand Cayman. Definitely recommend.

Grand Escape lives up to it’s name

With an amazing Caribbean setting, it’s hard to say if the weather or storyline is hotter. Rylan is the hard working bartender, that just wants to do her job and be left alone. Adam shows up on vacation to escape his life back home. The push and pull between the two will keep you hooked. Grand Escape is the perfect escape.

𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲 is set on a little tropical paradise called the Grand Cayman, where we meet bartender Rylan. being disregarded by her parents at 18, Rylan found herself eventually settling onto the the island focusing on nothing but her freedom and doing her job. now years later, she finds herself drawn to a guest with heartbreak written all over him but is Rylan willing to open up and break down her walls for a total stranger that makes her feel things she hasn't in years?

Grand Escape definitely succeeded in providing that paradise feel to it - making me wish i could escape to an island far away.
i enjoyed both Rylan and Adam's characters. Especially Rylan being a strong-willed woman, and Adam's determination. i think they made a perfect couple.
i was actually wary of Rylan in the beginning because we could clearly see that Adam was struggling yet Rylan would cut him off whenever he wanted to open up. i understood her hesitation but at times her reasoning would become repetitive.
if the chemistry didn't happen so fast, i would've easily enjoyed their romance more.

but it was still an enjoyable read with great main characters and side characters.

A trip to paradise is exactly what Adam needs, he is a workaholic who is still reeling from the death of his sister 2 years ago. A divorce attorney with no love life, Adam is trying to figure out his place following the family tragedy. The Grande escape was exactly what Rylan needed 10 years ago. After giving up her parents dream of her future, she left to go find herself on Grand Cayman. She has been tending the bar at the Grand for the last 10 years and she likes it that way. She has built herself a life there and has no intention of leaving it all behind. Enter Adam the two are attracted to one another and she knows that this can't be anything other than a holiday hookup for him. After they spend the better part of the week together while also being ambushed by Adam's brother he leaves back to the Midwest. Months go by and they both are miserable but unwilling to leave their homes. Will a chance encounter with a former guest be what it takes to get Rylan to finally fall for and commit to Adam? This book was swoony and the kind of tropical escape you need to get you through the winter.

Come and be swept away in paradise with this lovely swoon worthy first book in Rachel Blaufeld's new series.

Book 1 in the Grand Love Series has got off to a nice start with Rylan and Adam's story, the warmth of the tropics will seep into your bones as you watch this couple's romance unfold. Adam has come to the Grand Escape Hotel to try and deal with his pain, what he wasn't expecting was sassy bartender Rylan to make him for a short while forget about his troubles. Rylan ran away at 18 to the Caribbean when her life of parties, shopping and vain friends became too much, now 10 years later she is at her happiest at the Grand Escape hotel, holidaymakers come and go and that is fine with Rylan until Adam props himself at the end of her bar. But in 7 days Adam will leave and return to his busy life and she will remain in the place that gives her peace, but a lot can happen in 7 days.

Rachel Blaufeld gave us a nice easy entrance into this new series, it kept me interested and I did have a smile on my face at the end of it, and what more could you ask for at the end of a long day.

This book missed the mark for me. It dealt with some heavier topics but didn’t really explore them with any depth. In part, that is due to how Rylan was written. You have, in Rylan, a character that has closed off her heart due to rejection & unrealistic expectations put upon her by her parents. Without enough character growth or a character arc she stays a bit stagnant.

In Adam, we have someone that has gone through a traumatic event but Rylan isn’t the sort of person that is willing to go deep with him and help him explore his trauma. She hasn’t even explored her own. That creates a problem for the book moving forward because without going deeper, there is no where to go. I wasn’t even quite sure what he saw in her as she never seemed particularly compassionate towards him and what he had been through. She was very closed off to the point that she blocks him from contacting her - a very extreme response. None of this seems to alarm Adam in the way it should. For me, red flags would have gone off as to her emotional immaturity. For me Rylan has some work to do on her own before being ready for a relationship.
