Yippee! Towel, hat, sunglasses, sand toys . . . everyone’s favorite baby is off and running for a day at the beach—with a new friend.
Pack a beach bag and join Baby for that quintessential summer activity: a day at the seashore. With a new little pal in tow, it’s time to put on sunscreen (rubby, rubby), set up the umbrella (ouch, this sand is hot!), splash in the waves (run away from the big ones!), and build a sandcastle (extra hands help!). And don’t forget ice cream! Thankfully, there’s a shower for rinsing off that sandy, sticky stuff. There’s so much to do and see that it might be a challenge to get these babies back home! Little ones off on a summer vacation will soak up this fun adventure, and fans of the beloved Baby will be tickled to meet an adorable new character.

In poetic, bouncy, fun, Leslie Patricelli tells all about a beach trip with a friend. Now I have older grandchildren going to the beach with me but would have loved this when the whole family went and they were babies, new to so much "new" to learn about like hot sand, crabs and seashells, melty ice cream cones, and sand castles. It's a great take-along book for your vacation with the little ones. Thanks to Candlewick Books for the copy!
The perfect companion for a day at the seashore, these absolutely adorable infants come splish- splashing out for the day at the beach with their families. These are lovely diverse illustrations that show babies being babies the best way they know how, with giggles, smiles, sun, surf and sand and ending with the crowning glory of dripping, sticky ice cream. A day that dreams are made from! I like that this story depicts two dads bringing their families together at the beach and is a lovely representation of friendship and one love. This is a beach book at its best, that will actually help your child learn how to prepare themselves for safe summer fun.
Join two friends that have an adventure when they spend a day at the beach. The two have a really good time playing, walking in the water, eating snacks and running from the waves.
Children will love seeing pictures of other kids as they do lots of things on the sand. There will be many giggles about the way they look when the two are showered off. Just like the friends in the book, your child will be amazed at the different things that are washed up on the sand.
Soon, your little one will be wanting to go to the beach, and experience all the things these two do.
Besides enjoying this tale, there are many ways to use this book. It would be fun to ask your child where are the hands, eyes, hair, etc., of the children in this volume. Also, ask them to point to the different animals on the pages, and ask what their names are. Get them to tell you what is going on in each page.
This five-star, over sized board book is full of brightly colored pictures that will appeal to little people. Ms. Patricelli is both the author and illustrator of this book, and currently, it is an editor’s pick on Amazon. Children birth through three years old will enjoy this book.

What happens when two new baby friends go to the beach? Lots of fun, for sure!
The simple, rhyming text is fun to read aloud. It leads your voice naturally into a pleasant sing-song.
The babies explore all the sensory wonders of the beach - hot sand, cool water, beach animals, big waves, and yummy ice cream.
They build sand castles and rinse off at the end of the day.
The last page shares more summer-themed words.
What you'll like: - diversity (the babies are different races) - gender stereotype busting (the dads take the babies to the beach, not the moms)
Tips for Reading Aloud: - Ask the child, "Would you like to build a sand castle? Would you like to eat ice cream when it's hot" - Ask what the the child thinks the waves will sound like. - Ask who the child would like to go to the beach with. - Ask which sea animal is their favorite. - If you would like to take full advantage of the racial diversity, you can emphasize how people come in lots of colors.

"Splash!" has been a hit with my infant daughter and toddler. The lively illustrations and engaging story have captivated them both. It's heartwarming to see their joy and interaction. A big thumbs up for ages 0-3!
A heartfelt thank you to Candlewick Press for this gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
Two small kids, one black, one white go to the beach with their dads. One simple beach activity per page with a last double spread of summer things to name 2 1/2-year-old interested although never been to beach. Requested repeats.
Pleasant day at the beach with the babies! Nice to see two dads bringing the babies. Made me think of "Uh-Oh" by Shutta Crum where two moms brought their littles for beach fun.
Splash! is yet another fun title from Leslie Patricelli. Two babies and their grownups spend a day on the beach, splashing, playing in the sand, and exploring the seashore. Many great vocabulary words about the beach and the ocean are introduced, which will be great for building background knowledge and language skills. The text also has a rhyming pattern, which makes it great for read aloud as well. I appreciate the diversity in the illustrations and would be happy to use this book in any of my toddler or baby library programs.
