Creator of mouthwatering treats—if she doesn’t drop them first—Lily Nelson has one goal: her own bakery on Main Street. When an early morning mishap throws a handsome firefighter in Lily’s path, her world is turned upside down. Confined to her cabin, dogged by a matchmaking housekeeper, and struggling to keep up, what’s a girl to do when fate offers up her best chance at living the dream.

“You can’t go wrong with a Chris Keniston book!” RaeAnne Thayne, New York Times bestselling author.

More on Hart Land Lakeside Inn:

Come and stay in one of the quaint and cozy cottages at Hart Land—but be warned, once you meet the family and delightful cast of characters, you may never want to leave.

Fiona Hart is the devoted matriarch. Elegant, wise, and arts patron, but despite all her efforts, she has yet to find her own artistic outlet. Lucy isn’t just a housekeeper, she’s part of the family. She also fancies herself a real life Dolly Levy, except she’s much better at cooking up trouble than the perfect match. Innkeeper and retired general Harold Hart believes in hard work, discipline, and whatever his beloved wife wants. Katie O’Leary runs the One Stop, makes the best Irish soda bread this side of the Blarney Stone, and no one is quite sure if it’s more than her baking that has the magic touch. Did we mention the Harts have nine granddaughters?

Having grown up spending summers together on the lake, the cousins are as close as sisters—closer. Each woman knows there’s no place like Hart Land. They can always count on their grandfather’s gruff, their grandmother’s sage advise, Lucy’s fresh baked cookies, Katie’s inspiration, the calming scent of fresh air—and each other.

Follow along with friends, family, neighbors, and guests as the Harts maneuver life’s curves, and just maybe find love along the way.

"Small town, big family, and mismatches that will steal your heart! Delightful!" Roxanne St. Claire, New York Times bestselling author of the Dogfather Series.

A native New Yorker, Chris Keniston was on her way to Australia when she fell in love with North Texas. Little did she know the balmy seventy-degree October days would turn into fry-an-egg-on-the-sidewalk heat in August!

Twenty years later, she started scribbling short stories about her favorite TV shows, giving them lives more to her liking - and the elusive happy ending. Not long after, a dear friend dragged her to a local writers’ meeting. After winning multiple writing contests and making the finals in the Romance Writers of America’s prestigious Golden Heart contest, she now spends her days, and nights, writing contemporary romantic fiction with lots of emotion, plenty of surprises, and, of course, the happily ever after.

Chris lives in suburban Dallas with her husband, two human children, and two canine children. Though she loves her puppies equally, she admits being especially attached to her German Shepherd rescue named Gunny. After all, even dogs deserve a happily ever after.

Lily
Hot, sweet and hilarious! Lily is as fun as it is romantic. Baker Lily has decided that she does not have a place in her life for men as she works to purchase her own bakery. That attitude is shaken after she almost hits an early -morning runner with her car, a fireman who is staying at one of the cottages at Hart Land. Realizing that he can’t care for himself with a broken wrist and sprained ankle she insists on taking care of Cole. There isn't much hotter than a hot fireman and this one is H.O.T. As hard as he fights being cared for by the lovely baker, she fights even harder to hide her attraction. He on the other hand sees little reason to hide his. Invasions by his friends are blast, and Lucy’s matchmaking machinations may not be funny to the Lily, but they are hilarious to others, including this reader.
The presence of the delightful Hart family adds to the fun and hilarity. Great characters and a great time equal a great beach read.

This was my favorite in the 2nd book of Hart Land by Chris Keniston.
So much family love. Lily the Pastry baker accidentally runs into firefighter Cole McIntyre.
Who’s staying on the property of her family’s to help her grandfather aka The General.
She makes it her mission to take care of Cole, but her grandfather doesn’t like it that
there going to be in the same cabin.

Cole isn’t sure how things are going to go with Lily. She’s beautiful yes, and yes he needs help after there little run in. He’s kind of stuck at the cabin. But it’s not all bad so he’ll see it through.

Laugh out loud moments in this book are wonderful.

The heart in each books makes you love it from beginning to end.
Highly recommend to read Heather but don’t have to read in order.

Lily: Hart Land Book 2 is by Chris Keniston. This book tells about Lily, the Hart cousin who is a baker. She lives with her Mother in a “cabin” on the resort owned by her grandfather, the General. She is saving to buy her own bakery.
Lily loved baking and did all the morning baking for the inn in town. Each morning, she would mix up different breads for the inn and help serve breakfast. One morning, she got up early and headed for town in her trusty Honda. As she made a turn onto a main road, she looked but didn’t see a man until it was too late. She hit him and he flew over the car. She jumped out to see if she had killed him, leaving her car in gear. Seeing he was breathing, she turned to the car to get her phone only to see is rolling away towards the creek. Luckily, it hit an old shed of the neighbor’s and stopped. Getting her phone, Lily called for help then went to see the victim.
Cole McIntyre was a fireman who had been chosen by his boss to spend a week at the Hart resort to check it out for a possible venue for a fireman’s convention. He reluctantly took the assignment. The first morning, he set out for his morning run and was hit by Lily with her car. He suffered a broken wrist, a sprained ankle, and a shoulder out of socket, and a slight concussion. After visiting the hospital, he was taken back to the resort where someone could help him and watch him for the first days of recovery. Of course, Lily insisted on being the one to care for him since she caused his accident. Little did he know that she was lovingly known for her clumsiness!
He begins to see this as she helps him get settles on the sofa with is leg elevated, then nervously flutters around attempting to get him comfortably settled. She then does what she does best- cooks and bakes.

Good book

Good book with humor mixed in. The Hart cabins sound like a great place for a vacation. Too bad they’re not real.

I was a bit disappointed that Heather and Jake were not really a part of this book, however, I really liked Lily and Cole. There was a bit more of the other cousins/sisters in this book as well.

Lily by Chris Keniston is the second book in a brand new series Hart Land. The series is based on the small town of Lawford (in NH) with the General (Harold Hart) and his wife, Fiona. They have nine single granddaughters who one by one will find their own love. Lucy the housekeeper is bound and determined to be matching them all up, but she is an accident waiting to happen. The General and Fiona run a small hospitality business with cabins, with their house full of people and laughter.

Lily can bake anything and everyone loves her baking. She is off to the nearby resort to bake for them when she hits something that ran in front of her from the fog. She is horrified to find out it is the newest guest at Hart Land and she is responsible for his accident. Well, she knows her responsibilities and she will care for him until he is well again.

Cole is a fireman. He is fit and in top shape. Not only was he injured, but they are taking care of him and feeding him delicious food. Cole knows that as a fireman, he has to stay in tip top shape, so he needs to move and soon. Except the baker, Lily has baked herself into his heart.

Lily by Chris Keniston is a sweet love story about family and staying connected to what is important. The small town feel is universal, as is the cast of local characters. Lily is a quick read for someone who is looking for a little sweet love story.

I really enjoyed Cole & Lily! Lily is a pastry chef & is really wanting to set up her own shop. Cole is a firefighter. Lily was driving home early one morning & accidentally hit Cole while he was jogging. Since he was single & needed help during recovery, Lily moved him into a cabin at her grandparents resort. Her grandfather, the General, is retired from the military & is a self proclaimed matchmaker. While he doesn’t like them being in the same cabin, he does think they’d be perfect for each other.

Cole can’t believe his luck. First he’s hit by a car & injured. Then the very person that hit him, is the person helping him through recovery. He can’t believe he’s attracted to her. Can he survive the recovery? When the building Lily wants for her bakery comes up for sale earlier than expected, Cole tried to return the favor by helping her plan & renovate.

I love the the way General is trying to set them up but his old fashioned values interfere since he doesn’t want them alone in the cabin together. This book had many hilarious laugh out loud moments! The attraction between Cole & Lily is obvious but with the mishaps, you aren’t sure they’ll get together. I felt that this was a really sweet, enjoyable story. So far, it’s my favorite Hart Land couple.

Chris Keniston continues to amaze with this addition to her new series. Lily Nelson is on her way to work before dawn when a jogger happens into the road right in front of her.  Now that man is recovering in one of her family cabins with her keeping a watchful eye on the handsome stranger.

Firefighter Cole McIntyre is out for a morning jog when he is accidently struck by a car.  Now recovering at a cabin of the driver's family he finds himself constantly watched over by the very woman that hit him.  Of course, things could be worse.  The sweet Lily is not only incredibly attractive but she cooks like a dream, even though his body will pay for eating all her tasty treats.

As these two become closer friends and emotions begin to tangle and grow, Lily finds her plan to open her own bakery may be thwarted when a much coveted main street building comes available sooner than she is ready. It could be years before another opportunity arises. But with the support of her family and the man she can't stop thinking about could she actually see her dream come true?

Cole, a firefighter, has been offered a week’s vacation at the Hart property at the lake. Lily Hart is horrified when her car accidentally hits Cole her grandfather’s guest, early in the morning. Lily feels responsible to take care of Cole and his injuries at his cabin. Cole is soon won over by Lily’s sweetness.. I received a free copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is a sweet and clean romance. I really like this enchanting story. There are also some funny scenes as Lucy, the family’s beloved housekeeper, indulges in attempts of matchmaking while the Lily’s grandfather wants a non-fraternizing policy. This is a nice light romance.

The second book in the Hart Land series a well written story that had me laughing almost from the first page. On her way to work Lily Nelson hits Firefighter Cole McIntyre who is staying in one of her Grandfather's cabins. She calls 911 and goes with him to the hospital and ends up with him at the cabin to watch over him. Then she does not know of his allergies and again he has to be rushed to the hospital. Their story will have a lot of things for them to get through. I loved reading this story and I recommend it.

Can I say how much, I am in love with the General. He reminds me so much of another lovable character, Nora Robert's Daniel MacGregor. Love of family is never in question, but behind closed doors, matchmaking is a favorite past time. His antics are as precocious as a child's, but his heart is always in the right place. Execution is a different matter. Now that Heather is settled, Lily is next on his agenda. Laughter is the sweetest balm for the soul. Keniston delivers humor, heart and hope with a special kind of charm.

Another wonderful book by Chris Keniston. I love reading her stories, lots of romance, fun, family & life without the steam. Lily & Cole are perfect together and the family knows it. This is another wonderful series, I love reading about everyone’s story in the family. I feel like I’m part of their community. I was gifted an advanced reader copy and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of the book. I recommend this book if you love reading clean and sweet romance.

Lily is an amazing baker and accident prone. Loved her!!! Cole is a victim of one of her accidents. The sisters and cousins are back. She feels inferior to her relatives and unseen by men. Cole definitely sees her but is hesitant. When they can finally be alone things start to change for them both. It is such a sweet romance. This is my favorite so far. I Voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I totally enjoyed the story line of Lily and Cole. She is a pastry chef, he is a firefighter and they meet under very crazy circumstances. They get to know a little bit more about themselves while they are trying to learn about each other. It's a feel good love story, and I absolutely adore Lily's family. Her sisters and cousins, and grandparents have a wonderful family feel too. Kudos to Chris Keniston for another wonderful story! I can't wait to read the next one.

Feel Good Contemporary Romance

I give Chris Keniston’s books 4.5 stats because they are among the few contemporary romances that don’t need to go behind closed doors and yet be thoroughly compelling. Happy stories with happy endings ate the perfect vehicles for this stressful time in which we live.

Another lovely love story

This story starts with a bang, so to speak, and then takes you on a gentle afternoon stroll to a happy ending. In between you see more of this family to love, a couple of bit players you'd like to meet again and a craving for some yummy afternoon tea......and the next installment!

Very entertaining saga in the Hart Lane series. Lily has studied cooking in Paris and Manhattan. She is back home with dreams of starting her own bakery.
After nearly killing fireman Cole twice, is it love or relief that she didn't actually do more harm.
When the opportunity arises to open her own bakery, dare she take the chance?
