To all who you know,
Or you'll end up in hell,
Where you'll never grow.'' Eleven years ago, Astrid Moor got away with murder. Now, someone wants to make her pay. Astrid turns to Alex Swanson for help, the officer who risked everything for her once before. Except he’s a big shot DI now, and isn’t prepared to help her again. But even though she's alone, Astrid doesn’t take kindly to threats, and when she finally realises who is terrorising her she makes a decision she will never recover from. 'I love a good psychological thriller and this one went above my expectations. The twists and turns, the suspense, the shock factors! It was all enough to keep me reading, especially as I got closer to the end. I really enjoy Ashley's writing style and the way she builds her characters. There's nothing worse than being able to figure out the ending of a thriller, and this one kept me guessing.'

I received a gifted copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via the author.

Mother..Liar..Murderer? is a quick fast paced read and follows on from Ashley Beegans first novel Lucy's Coming For You. This is a series but both books so far can be read as stand alone.
This book follows Aubrey who lives a secluded life with her son after running away from an abusive life when he was a baby. But someone's found her and the past has crashed into the present. She receives a threat and then her son is approached at school and then later goes missing. She didn't recognise the stranger and is frantic to find out who is after her and what they want.
Aubrey contacts the one person she feels she can trust. The man who helped her escape all those years ago - DI Alex Swanson.
We catch up with Summer in this book too who is searching for her brother. Can Alex help both women and keep them safe?
This was a great read and I loved how it picked up straight after book 1 yet was also stand alone. There are some great little twists and turns in this book and I couldn't put it down! I can't wait to find out what will happen next in book 3!

Wow! This book is good, but confusing at the same time. The pieces come together somewhat at the end, which is helpful, but things happen so quickly that I had to stop and try to remember all the connections. I may change my rating in the future after I think about this more. With some hesitation, this book is still recommended by me.

I enjoyed this one. Although it follows on from Ashley’s first book – Lucy’s Coming for You ¬– which I read earlier this year, it is standalone. But I’m glad that I read ‘Lucy’ first; it helped place characters and gave me a bit of background.

I admit that I found it confusing initially, but it did all come together and make sense soon into the book. I really like the writing style, and I enjoyed the story. I loved the relationship between DI Swanson and DI Hart. It was great to hear much more from them; I liked their banter.

The end was twisty and brilliant; I didn’t see any of it coming. And although I really missed the creepy element from the first book, this is another fab book by Ashley Beegan.

Thank you for allowing me to read in exchange for an honest review.

Great Follow-Up!

I was a big fan of Lucy’s Coming for You, the first book in this series. Mother… Liar… Murderer? is even better! I love how there are several different stories going on at once and the narrative switches back and forth among them. When the different threads come together, it’s very satisfying.

The author’s writing style lends itself perfectly to the genre. She knows exactly when to end a scene and mount suspense. The characters are well-drawn and believable. The plot is perfectly paced, holds your interest, and keeps you guessing. It’s a page turner, for sure!

I absolutely would recommend checking out this book as well as the first book in the series. Looking forward to book three!

I love a good psychological thriller and this one went above my expectations! The twists and turns, the suspense, the shock factors! It was all enough to keep me reading, especially as I got closer to the end. I really enjoy Ashley's writing style and the way she builds her characters.

There's nothing worse than being able to figure out the ending of a thriller, and this one kept me guessing. Even with its many pov's, the story is relatively easy to follow - although, it was a bit confusing at times- it all came together in the end and I already can't wait for book 3.

Even though it could technically be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading book 1, Lucy's Coming For You, first.

I look forward to seeing more from this author!

Book 2 in the Detective Swanson Series and although it could be read as a standalone I would recommend reading the first book by way of background. I absolutely loved the first book in the series and was worried that I wouldn’t feel the same about this one. Phew, I do. Great characters and a good plot line made this an enjoyable read.

Briefly, eleven years ago Astrid Moor disappeared with her son, Harry. Ben was an abusive husband, when she finally retaliated Astrid killed him and Alex Swanson had helped her start a new life. Astrid needs his help but he is now a DI and hunting a dangerous rapist; he can’t help her. Can she run away again and make a new life for them?
Summer Thomas is an advocate for patients in high security mental hospitals. As a child her brother Eddie had been placed into an institution after attacking their mother and Summer wanted to see him again. Is he still a danger to them?

I raced through this book wanting to see the outcome. There were a couple of massive reveals at the end one of which was totally unexpected. There is a cliffhanger too which will I suspect be revealed in book 3. I’ll look forward to it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the second in the Detective Swanson series; it can be read as a standalone but for background I would recommend reading the first.

You need to keep your wits about you reading this book. Each chapter is from a character’s POV & their specific timeline - it can get a little confusing.
Eleven years ago Astrid disappeared with her son, Harry. Her husband, Ben, was abusive & when she finally snapped she killed him. Swanson was her next door neighbour & helped her escape. She is now being targeted by someone who knows about her past. She calls on Swanson for help but he is in the middle of a serial rapist case & can’t assist.
Summer is an advocate for mental health patients. Her brother, Eddie, is in a mental hospital but where? She uses her position to try & find him & see if he still poses a danger to her family. She is connected to Swanson too.

This was a very quick read & I wanted to know the outcome. Some major reveals along the way & I didn’t guess any of them. There is going to be a book 3, so I’m hoping any loose ends will be tidied up then. Recommended.

RATING: 3 Stars

SYNOPSIS: Astrid Moor will do anything to protect her son, including murder. A murder that she has gotten away with. Now, she is constantly checking over her should, checking the streets when she leaves the house, and making sure that no one can find her. But someone does and they want to make her pay. Astrid contacts Alex Swanson for help; he helped her when she committed murder, and now she wants his help again. Alex is now a DI and working a serial rapist case; he did not expect to hear from Astrid. He never imagined that he would be helping her yet again. Astrid Moor is willing to do anything to protect her son, and herself. How far is she willing to go, again?

REVIEW: I received an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review.

This book started off with a bang. I was hooked and instantly wanted to keep reading. However, with the introduction of additional characters and not knowing until the end how they all connected, left me a little confused. It led me to not rush through the book as I did with her first novel (Lucy’s Coming For You). I would have appreciated a little nugget here and there that connected the characters.

Otherwise, this is a good book from Author Ashley Beegan. It’s the second book in the series, and I will definitely be keeping up with Alex Swanson in the next book.

Good plot but too much profanity

I would have read to the end if not for the unnecessary use of the "f" word, which gradually increased as I read on. I was not impressed with the obscene sex scene either. It seems a really interesting story, but I can't take all that garbage. Note to author: If your writing is good, which I believe yours is, you won't lose readers who are fine with vulgarity if such details in your book are minimised or omitted. You may still retain both them and readers like me,, which makes for a bigger audience. Conversely, You absolutely will lose readers like me if your book is as now, which potentially shrinks your audience. Think about it.

I've read both of Ashley's books, they're sooooo good, and just like Pringles, once you pop, you just can't stop!

This is the second in the DI Swanson series, you could read it as a standalone, but I would highly suggest you read them both for the full picture.

Fast paced, action packed, exciting, and edge of your seat gripping.

It has some fantastic characterisations, who are well developed and credible.

Packed with twists and turns, several big reveals of which I had no clue, and a cliffhanger...

Many thanks to the author for my gifted copy.

Overall the book was an enjoyable read. It started out slow for me. I was hoping for an immediate story about the main characters in the previous book. When that didn't happen, I considered shelving it. I'm glad I didn't as everything did tie in and the characters from book #1 appeared.

I suggest reading the series in order. The background adds depth to the continuation. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

Astrid is nervous. But not too nervous that she wouldn’t kill to protect her son. Her only son. Her only real family. Sophie loves Ben. He is the love of her life. But is he really the one?

This book kept me intrigued throughout. It was an easy read and told the story from several POVs. I still found it easy to follow however. A decent, quick read. I haven’t read the first book in the series, but picked this up quickly, so it can be read as a stand-alone.

Overall it was an interesting plot but there were things I couldn’t stand. There was the overly vulgar language. Most of the time it wasn’t necessary and really took me out the story. The sex scene was also meh in my opinion. I think there was just a lot in this book that could have been omitted in terms of language and since it wasn’t it really just took up a lot of space that could’ve been used in a better way.

Ashley Beegan is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine. She writes fantastic thrillers that centers around some type of mental issue. In this book, she has added lots of twists and turns just when the reader thinks they know what is going on. The book has strong characters, good writing, and the author’s writing style is engaging page after page.

My only complaint about the book, it needs a better title.

My review is voluntary and all comments and opinions expressed are

not bad but not as good as book 1

Still enjoy the writing of this author but this plot seemed less believable than book 1. I’d give book 1 in the series 4.5 stars and this one (book 2) 3 stars. Also wished the characters developed a bit more as couples from book 1 to book 2. Guess I’ll have to read Book 3 as I’m committed to the entire series now 😂

I realize I am an outlier with this review. I found the writing sophomoric and the story fairly boring . I had some difficulty keeping the characters straight, although this could be partially because I had not read any of her other books. Fortunately it was short and I was able to use this book as a sleep aid.

After getting past the confusion at the beginning between all the characters, it became a quick and easy read. Anything that didn’t make sense to me was tied up in the end. I would definitely read more books by this author. I do like the mystery and twists that I read in this one.

Thriller didn’t realize it was a book two of three. Seems like a stand alone story may need to pick up book one. There was a lot of back and forth. Was confusing at times keeping track of who was who and what they did.

Great book overall. I dropped it down half a star only because it took a very long time to explain how the two seemingly different stories were connected. Other than that, I felt it was an easy read and left me wanting more. Good thing I have book 3 ready to go!

I loved the first book in this series, but this one was a little hard to follow the way it went back and forth between different people. It was still a great story though and I enjoyed it enough that when I am finished, I will read the NEXT story in the series lol Worth a read if you can keep everyone straight.
