A Northern Arizona crime novel from the writer of the Frank Trinity series.Ex-carnie Dallas "Big D" King is planning a score with James Locaster. They've worked together on a string of robberies, but cash isn't the prize now - it's Locaster's wife Wanda. Edison Graves thinks he's coming to Holbrook for the rodeo. He doesn't know he's being set up for a fall.Cool, funny, sympathetic, and gritty. The dialogue in this neo-western is pitch-perfect.
I was born in Houston, Texas and while growing up lived in Maine and Ohio. While I was in the army, I served in Korea and Turkey. I taught school in northern Arizona for over twenty years and in the United Arab Emirates for five. My wife Carolyn Holliday and I now live in Erie County, Pennsylvania. Even though my brother wrote this book, I can say with all honesty that it is a delight. Trevor sets the stage for something big to happen, so he keeps the reader guessing. A couple of things I love otherwise about the book are his very skillfully drawn characters and the wonderful and witty cultural details. His dry humor shines through - I found myself laughing out loud as I was reading, and yet it satisfies in terms of a good story as well.
Edison Graves is minding his own business when a local ne'er do-well calls him up. The ne'er do-well wants Edison to go to a rodeo in the next town over.
It's all part of a plan. It seems the ne'er do-well, after a nice career in armed robbery, wants the woman of his partner. He's got a plan...
Pretty decent, with some actual tension, going in unexpected directions.
