Making Amends

3 ⭐ 8th Year Hogwarts fanfic with loads of smut
Word Count: 95,679 | Chapters: 31
It was entertaining and the spice was there but overall, it wasn't anything that makes a lasting impression. I've read so many fanfics now that it seems like they're all just starting to read the same. . . even the smut is getting kind of boring. I am dying for another story as impactful as Manacled, Remain Nameless, or Cruel and Beautiful World.
*I skimmed this story so I'll do a full review once I actually take my time reading it.

This whole fanfic revolves around Draco struggling to accept he likes Hermione. The plot is their roller coaster relationship.

I was left thinking this is the risk of taking fanfic recommendations from TikTok. No hate to the author, but this fanfic was not one I’ll remember fondly.
There was no world building. The characters were just in Hogwarts running amuck. The whole fanfic focuses on the relationship between Draco and Hermione. Then there’s Theo and Ginny developing their own relationship.
There is a lot of spice. When there wasn’t any spice it was Draco being awol. He was just there while Hermione was falling for him.
What irked me the most was the constant use of Pansy to cause drama. She calls Hermione a slur in the beginning. Draco stands up to her. Then he’s hooking up with Pansy after having had a sort of relationship with Hermione.
Tell me why Theo kept telling Hermione to wait for Draco to come around. Ick. He can stay on the streets.
Ron was so unnecessary. I swear in most Dramione fanfics he’s just used as a one dimensional villain. All he does is throw tantrums about not liking Draco. Only to come around and act like a decent friend.
One more thing, Cormac drugging Hermione to take advantage of her is what abruptly changes Draco’s mind about ignoring Hermione.

Although Making Amends will not be my most memorable Dramione read, it certainly gave me my fix for this couple for the evening, and I sped through it pretty quickly.
However, it wasn’t perfect. Unfortunately, I didn’t love Hermione throughout this story (which is a shame since she’s the FMC and star of the show). She seemed fairly timid, she had certain personality traits that felt rather forced, and she lacked a lot of confidence in herself all-around. Because of this, I didn’t love how she handled some of the things that were thrown at her.
Additionally, there were small plot points that I simply didn’t appreciate either (such as the attempted sexual assault on Hermione, the badly handled introduction/drama surrounding Draco’s parents, and the mean comments and attempted blackmail from Ron). Nevertheless, these were all small points of contention whereas the overarching plotline was fun and entertaining.
Draco has a more redeeming character development plotline (something I always enjoy). Plus, I really liked Theo and Ginny, who both played as the main secondary characters.
The smut in this novel was good too, and it definitely increased my delight in this story.

This read like a watered-down version of Breath Mints / Battle Scars. Maybe it’s because I started this one right after, but a lot of the scenes felt very reminiscent of BM/BS. Like a less-experienced writer took BM/BS and attempted to rewrite it. This was basically PWP. No world-building, minimal character development, the immediate decision to jump into bed with Draco… everyone was incredibly OOC.

Twas super cute! I was squealing because it was so cute. I will say that the smut made me cringe sometime cuz I’m very particular with verbiage but it was fine lol.
The use of cum instead of come in proper situations was like *meh* LOL but that’s super nit picky stuff. I loved it beside that. Light, fluffy, angsty and smutty. V good.

What can I say about this?
It didn't wow me, but it kept me entertained. Smut was good. Gentle in the streets but Dom in the sheets. Redemption for our boy Draco and he comes through.
I loved Ginny with Theo. He's one of my favorite characters that the fan fic community has really run with.

I’m sorry, I just can’t deal with multiple typos in every single chapter. It was too distracting. Maybe if the plot had blown my mind I would have been able to look past it, but the story was quite unoriginal and some plot holes left me wondering wtf just happened here
