Thoroughly enjoyed the first 21 novels ‘starring’ DI Michael Angel. Very easy going as far as reading is concerned but the cases always retain your attention til the final paragraph. Mr Silverwood has a distinct knack of crime writing, complicated cases with multiple themes all brought together and made easy by our super sleuth. His boss Superintendent Harper is a numpty, not seeing what a talented DI he has working for him, jealousy? Probably. Also Harker should be dead by now, never known a human being survive with his continual ailments, maybe he was a forerunner to Covid. You can purchase seven novels for 99p, so three pence short of three quid for the 21 books. Fantastic value. Four more to tackle now.

DETECTIVE MICHAEL ANGEL MYSTERY SERIES by Roger Silverwood - Books 15-21 in the boxed set grab your attention and don’t let go. DI Michael Angel is like the Mounties, he always gets his man (or woman). I love the British stories. These take place in a village where you wonder just how many murders can occur without totally wiping out the population. The author describes the characters so the reader knows who is who. These are mysteries you will enjoy. Best to read them in order so you can benefit from the previous stories but each book can be read as stand alone. I’m off to get the last box set of Book 22-28.

Detective Michael Angel books 15-21.

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading this series. Detective Angel has an unique way about him, at times, can be critical with his comments to his staff, but at the same time, can be great. And, he always, with help, "gets his man!" I am also surprised that his "Boss is still surviving" considering how his health is. Maybe they'll get rid of him in the near future.

Michael Angel Novels

The first few novels by Roger Silverwood were difficult to complete. They were dry and confusing. At first I had difficulty understanding British terminology and style, but my persistence to complete what I started paid off. As I progressed, I became more interested, and I looked forward to each book. The author’s style has humor, drama, and convoluted plots. His books are well edited with few typographical errors. I plan to read more of his work.

Michael Angel is the detective who always gets the murderer.

Actually he is backed up by a crew of underlings, a brilliant coroner and forensics experts. He maintains humility and pushes away compliments to avoid a jinx on his career.

This is an excellent series of murder mysteries.

Late nights,early mornings

I have now read the 21 series of Michael Angel and have found them most enjoyable . Found myself reading into the early hours to complete the story. The characters , the sharp witty comments and the mix of crimes all added to the intrigue. My mind of auther.

Amusing, lively , ---- endings rather abrupt & frustrating ....

Therefore rather unsatisfying -- in THE END ! At THE END ........
Finally , if only the truth be told !!!

Angel Gets His (Wo)Man!

Angel has joined my list of favorite detectives! Every story keeps you guessing to the finish with dastardly evil-doers, quirky oddballs, lovely wife Mary and Angel's comically, always absent DS Crisp. I thoroughly recommend Roger Silverwood.

Twists and turns.

Really keeps you guessing from start to finish inspector Angel manages to work his magic in the best tradition of Sherlock Holmes but with a much larger number of assistants than Dr Watson

Too many useless metaphors, unless you've been a guest of Her Majesty in Strangeways!

I had to give up on this bookset, so annoying and language that breaks the flow the text. I love reading crime fiction and non fiction but I'll never buy a book by this author again .

A good read, but why does Detective Angle, who I think would have been earning about £50000 a year, keep going on about his GAS BILL.

Great read

Just enough intrigue that leads you along while dazzling you with good police work. Good endings with suprises and not too gory.

I really like these books. Angel makes me smile with the things he says. I often find myself thinking 'my old mum used to say that'. But... for goodness sake get rid of Harker and his Vicks stick. How someone like that got to his rank is beyond me.
